- Alan (8/5): - Overall the place is nice, like a mid level local hotel. The grounds and staff were pleasant and peaceful however the road to get there was not good as we took two different paths to get there by a driver who did not know and the roads were very rough and bumpy. The area surrounding the hotel are like what you see in movies. The place is getting more developed as the area is relatively new but next to the hills which are water logged
- Pedro (6/5): - The hotel is nice however the rooms can use a bit more upkeeping and there is very little hot water at night
- DeliaFF (8/5): - Las habitaciones muy bien, las camas muy cómodas El baño era un poco desastroso aunque el agua salía caliente y con buena presión
- Donald (1/5): This hotel is a one star . The breakfast was dreadful. The property had no improvements or update probably since it was - The photos are not reflective of the rooms or location The dirt road is awful for any private car or ever. A 4 x 4. It is unlit and unfit to walk. The paved section is only 200 metres but the other 1.5 kms is appallingly bad. I would not recommend anyone to stay there unless they are desperate.
- Donald (2/5): - The road to the property is a rough road even by Arusha standards. I live in Nairobi and drove by car. It is not a road you would choose to walk. The owner has probably not upgraded the property in 20 years and it really shows
- Kosi (9/5): Beautiful quite retreat - Extremely nice staff, helpful in any situation. Hotel is situated in a rather quite area outside town Center and has a beautiful garden. The fact, the hotel is located on a hill means you have to commute downtown or elsewhere. Unfortunately, floodings have washed out the road extremely-and the rainy season is yet to come… Therefore, one is very dependant on the hotel‘s drivers, who sometimes simply don’t show up at the time requested. Downtown taxis often refuse driving up the hill. Not recommended for business people and for Airport shuttles do calculate additional time for departure.
The restaurant is attached which is very convenient. Kitchen and service are very customer-oriented but the choice of meals is usually limited on two only and prices are way too high.(always calculated in US $)
- Samira (10/5): - The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant was willing to accommodate our dietary restrictions without any issues. Juma went above and beyond to help with a vegan diet. The room was clean and the grounds/garden were beautiful. The hotel could use some upgrades, but they make up for that with their amazing staff!
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Di (7/5): Lovely and comfortable, great staff. - The staff were really friendly and helpful and let us check out late due to having an early evening flight. It was a bit far out from the middle of Arusha. Plus the hotel looked a little ‘tired’
- Heiko (7/5): Good start for a Safari and quiet place - We spend 4 nights in the Hotel. The service was good and friendly. The rooms were clean.
The restaurant was also good, however the prices where high.
The Hotel itself was good, also the pool and the garden looks nice. The room itself could be better.
Especially the bathroom was not as expected from the pictures.
The tiles were often broken, the shower was in a 2 star condition.
A renovation should be done next years.
- Caroline (10/5): A comfortable welcoming stay in the friendliest of hotels. - This a lovely authentic hotel with the friendliest of staff who did everything possible to make our staff comfortable. The grounds are beautifully maintained and a welcome oasis from the hustle and bustle of Arusha beyond the hotel gates. The food was good and always freshly cooked. The track to the hotel is somewhat bumpy but we soon got used to it.
- Anna (8/5): A comfortable stay perfect for recharging - A really good hotel with very sweet staff that did their best to meet our needs and our requests. The power came back on very quickly after blackouts (less than one minute), and the beds were very comfortable. The driver was on time and the food was excellent, although a limited menu in the restaurant. I especially enjoyed the breakfast. Location is a bit out of town so it is hard to get around without a driver, no shops around so you depend on the hotel, and the WiFi is a bit weak, although this is common for all places we have visited. The furniture do need an upgrade, they are quite dated and it would have been nice with more information on what to do in the area.
- Gerald (10/5): - Very great hotel in a very quite neighborhood love the staffs and everyone was very friendly.. will recommend it to friends and family all da way from Houston, Texas
- Liam (8/5): Quiet location outside Arusha city centre - The staff were very welcoming, down to earth and keen to please. The location itself was very quiet and peaceful with large grounds and plenty of space. There was a view of the top of Mt Meru from the back of the building. Good value all in all Rooms fairly basic, some soft lighting would make them a bit cosier. Noise travels quite a bit so how quiet it is depends on who is staying. There isn't much nearby but I was content with relaxing at the hotel and restaurant in the evening
- Mikael (10/5): Good value - Very nice and good value. Stayed 2 nights bookending safaris and got exactly what we paid for. Clean, good breakfast, good dinners, etc.
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elena (9/5): Superb -
- Fleur (8/5): Very good - Very nice, clean and relaxing place with a great garden and pool. Sometimes the power went of but they restarted it quick.
- Chris (7/5): Good -
- Dc (7/5): Good -
- Carmen (10/5): Good value - Good stay after or before Safari. From hotel to JRO is approx 1 hour. Staff friendly and helpful. Access to the location is not so good. Bumpy roads.
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philipp (8/5): Very good - It was mostly quiet. Barking
No alcoholic drinks at all
- Philippa (8/5): Great stay - Quiet location, beautiful gardens, clean comfortable beds, staff were very helpful, food was delicious and well portioned (proper woodfire pizza was excellent), same day laundry service, swimming pool was clean and fresh. Wifi strength fluctuated, shower drain smelt a bit musty.
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -

- Loïc (9/5): Great hotel for resting after a safari - We had a good stay in this hotel which is close to the Meru Forest. The staff is very nice and friendly and the restaurant is good. There is a big garden and a nice pool.
I would recommend it for one or two days before or after a safari.
- Grace (8/5): Very good -
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (8/5): Very pleasant, quiet stay in 'village' surroundings not far from Arusha town centre. - Staff was very friendly and helpful. Complimentary breakfast was delicious and varied by day. Restaurant was always open and service-minded (even delivering to our room). Menu items reasonably priced. We loved the location, set a bit back from the main road, plenty of opportunity to take a walk in the 'villagey' surroundings. Restaurant takes some time to prepare food. This is easily solved by ordering beforehand.
- Kiera (10/5): Would absolutely stay there again, Great atmosphere to relax in after a long journey. - Jonathan at the front desk was exceptionally helpful. Happy and the other staff were so friendly and kind. The airport shuttle is very convenient too. The rooms are nice and are a great value. the grounds were beautiful and had a pool and a nice playground for the little ones to play at. The restaurant has good food, and the free breakfast was great...they even made us "to-go" box breakfasts for our 4:30 am shuttle departure to the airport! The food took a little long at the restaurant...but we had a LOT of people in our group and obviously other guest were there also. Had a little trouble with the card readers come checkout time...but now I'm nitpicking...Not much we DIDN'T like. overall great, relaxing stay. Maybe a little far from the action downtown...but that also meant it was nice and quiet!
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mary-ann (8/5): Hidden gem! - a pleasant surprise to find this neat and welcoming property in Arusha as such great value The road to the hotel is not paved, quite rough and steep.
- Madhuri (9/5): Comfortable especially for stay before and after your serengeti safari! - The property was nice though the access to the property is a bit rough! The restaurant offered reasonable choices for vegetarians though they take a long time to serve. The traditional Ugali dish was yummy. The front desk staff are very courteous and helpful. The taste of the continental dishes could have been better.
- Lebahati (7/5): You have a chance to improve on very few areas that require your attention - Breakfast was super cool Water was not coming from the shower. Poured from the main outlet
- Jelena (7/5): good value for money but bad location - the room is spacious and the bed very comfy. the shower has warm water. staff is very nice. the pool is big and nice and you can even swim the location is pretty bad. it’s rather outside of Arusha. you have to take a dust road nearly 1km which is incredibly bad. there’s nothing within walking distance.
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ellisse (8/5): Very good -
- Ellisse (8/5): Tidy hotel , good location, friendly staff , value for money! - Friendly staff , good value for money , swimming pool , balcony and free breakfast. Beds were too firm , room could do with a bit of TLC , menu needs to be labelled with vegetarian / Vegan options , WiFi wasn't amazing especially when in the room.
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bryan (8/5): - Great staff
- Alexander (6/5): Pleasant - nice place, friendly people and very OK pricing restaurant is boring, both in design and the food quality. (make a nice terrace outside in stead of a bunker)
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Schalk (10/5): VERY FRIENDLY STAFF, EXCEPTIONAL CLEAN ROOM! - The bed was really, really comfy! The bedding was spotless clean and the staff were very, very friendly and helpful. Even us arriving so late, they were ready to offer us welcoming drinks and show us to our lovely room! The shower in the bath tub was not very comfortable, but we did make it work.
- Simon (6/5): - Clearness and quietly
- Christopher (8/5): Very good - Enjoyed the food
Friendly staff - Has a taxi service
Quiet Hotel
Overall a nice stay
- Linda (10/5): Warm, friendly, beautiful setting with the lodge s - Considerate, helpful, and kind staff
! I loved the grounds, flowers pants, animals nearby. I enjoyed the views, peacefulness, and the bed was very comfortable
There was TV, Wi-Fi, AC that was not needed in July, and a well cleaned outdoor pool.
The location was convenient for my safari driver, booking agent and his driver, and all were acquainted.
- Frederick (6/5): - Ok stay at this hotel. The staff and the food made that stay worth it, both were excellent. The hotel is quite far for the city center, but it's ok. The hotel have a driver that will take you there, but the city of Arusha is not really nice. You can't walk 2 min without someone pushing you to buy junk stuff. The pool was dirty and really not inviting, but wifi was really good. Some roomnhave a fridge other not, one night the AC didn't work, it was really hot in the room. The hotel is not sound proof, you'll here dog, rooster, and your neighbor...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay and the staff was very kind!
- EmirMusavi (10/5): - The site and the ambient of nature where is the location of the hotel is very beautiful.
- Miriam (10/5): Best Hotel in Arusha!!! - If you're coming to Arusha, you absolutely MUST stay at Mvuli Hotel!
The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the staff is VERY professional and kind. Hot water, Free WiFi, Swimming pool and HUGE garden.
They also have a restaurant on the premises with a 5 star Chef that makes customized breakfast lunch and dinner for you when requested.
No matter how hard you look, you won't find a better hotel in all of Tanzania. My family stayed here for several weeks and we loved every single minute of it.
- Rob (10/5): - Clean and charming with friendly And helpful staff
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not good at all! - This hotel is dying! The rooms are nice and clean and that is the only good thing I can say about it. This owner is clearly absent and uncaring and the management has no ability to improve the guest experience. Don't be fooled by the guest reviews. They advertise wifi but it does not work at all and when I complained they were very offhand and disrespectful. Breakfast is poor and their limited food offer is over-priced. I would not recommend it.
- Katja (10/5): - Great staff
- Ken (10/5): - Friendly staff
Oweseme enviroment
The food was a bit better
- Michelle (10/5): - They have the loveliest property! The garden area was well kept, and included a pool, perfect for a quick dip- although a bit chilly. We thought the food was really good at the adjoining restaurant. A quiet hotel, with excellent service and the check-in lady was the best of all hotel check-ins, those two weeks in Africa- best at explaining to us to turn on the shower heat 30 min before taking a shower and other details. This was new to us, Americans. I would recommend this place to anyone in Arusha who would like a place away from the bustling city. The price was good, too, for our family of 4.
- christina (8/5): Par på väg på safari - Mycket hjälpsam och trevlig personal. Vi fick checka ut sent utan extra kostnad, inga problem.
- steve (2/5): Duplicitous liars!!!! - We looked at three rooms. None of them had operating a/c or television. Two of the rooms did not have safes that the manager could open. The manager told me face to face that the hotel would gladly refund my payment if I would just contact Hotels.com. However, When Hotels.com contacted the property, management refused my refund request!
Liars like this need to be avoided like the plague
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Relatively OK hotel in Arusha. The hotel is a little bit far away from city and main road (unable to go there by walk).
Staffs are friendly and kind.
The hotel has simple and small restaurant but it’s good.
We stayed this hotel for very short time after Safari and left to Kilimanjaro Airport early morning. It took just one hour. It was good for this purpose. The hotel can arrange a taxi to the airport with 40USD.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and quite helpful. The hotel offered shuttles in and out of town, available as and when needed.
Food was prepared from scratch in the hotel restaurant, with a fixed but varied (and very affordable) menu.
- Susan (8/5): - Very pleasant room. The restaurant was very good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff are extremely helpful and the garden is Beautiful and peaceful. Very good restaurant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were greeted with a drink upon our arrival. The rooms were clean and the food was tasty.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - With beautiful grounds and a peaceful setting, it is like an oasis in Arusha and a perfect place to chill before or after a safari. The staff is superb, both at the front desk and the restaurant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Enjoyed exploring the property and swimming in the pool. Comfortable bed. Good food. Helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel for the price! Clean rooms and they have a pool.
- BigChief (8/5): - Clean, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast were good,
Dinners need more spices. Chile sauce helped.
Decent WiFi, good a/c, nice garden, we booked 2br suite that was spacious and huge balcony.
Minor repairs needed- door lock escutcheon was coming off on inside, off, shower reverse plumbing, a/c leaking water, chipped tile, shower drain needed cleaning.
- Aleksandra (10/5): - We stayed at Mvuli for two nights after our safari. I can't say enough good things about the staff in the hotel - these were some of the kindest and nicest people I have ever dealt with in a hotel! Everyone went above and beyond to accommodate every little request we had. The hotel does not have alcohol on the premises and they even sent a driver to the store to buy a bottle of wine for us.
Our room was very nice and clean with a balcony facing the pool. The hotel is definitely off the beaten path but there is a very affordable restaurant on the premises with excellent food. The staff also offered to drive is to a supermarket 3km a way to do some shopping. The entire staff was very considerate - at one point we went out to the pool area and one of the employees stopped cutting the grass so that he wouldn't disturb us with the noise. I would absolutely stay there again - we were sorry to leave as we really enjoyed seeing everyone throughout the day and certainly will miss their awesome service!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel is quite remote. None of my taxi drivers had ever heard of it or been there. Not within walking distance of supermarket, ATM or restaurant. The food at the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. The wifi does not work in the rooms, only the lobby.
- Lois (8/5): Ok hotel - Outside of main area- nor issue as I had a driver. Mediocre breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay! - The staff was super accommodating - they helped me with my luggage, served me juice on arrival, made sure I had enough drinking water daily! They made sure I knew how everything functioned in the room; where to get breakfast. Room was clean! Wifi was not as dependable, though they had 4 different routers. I think this is more of a country-wide issue...Super happy with my stay, would (and did) stay here again!
- Juho (8/5): Good for resting before/after safari - We staid for 2 nights with my wife: 1 night before and 1 after safari. For us, Mvuli provided value for money since our plan was merely to rest the evening before/after safari. The hotel is peaceful and outside of Arusha city centre (7-10 mins by car). Staff was very friendly and willing to help, breakfast good enough, and they had somewhat fairly priced and decent dinner menu (delicious avocado and fried chicken!). Our rooms were clean and comfortable, bathrooms required a bit of maintanance. However, as said before, value for money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Well priced hotel in Arusha - We enjoyed 2 nights in this hotel before and after our safari. It is not close to the centre of the city but the hotel provides transportation. The internet was sporadic in the rooms but always available in the lobby. Water is turned off from 11pm to 6 am. Good restaurant. Staff are very helpful. Good value.
- David (10/5): Great base for Arusha adventures - Great value hotel with really friendly and helpful staff.
We stayed before and after Safari/climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and really enjoyed our stay.
All the staff are brilliant- special mention to David on reception, who was so helpful helping us organise things and acted as our “unofficial” guide on a fun trip exploring and shopping in Arusha town, and a half day trip out to Lake Duluti; would recommend both if you have time.
Arusha is walking distance (40 mins) or free hotel shuttle.
As others have commented - food is good and great value - especially loved the vegetable curry and chapatis.
Keep up the great work and we look forward to visiting in the future.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly hotel - The staff was very helpful. Airport transfer was hassle-free. The restaurant food was delicious. The person who checked us in was very kind and made us feel at home. We loved our stay at this hotel!
- sandy (8/5): Nice hotel - Staff friendly, food was great, bathrooms could use a little update, especially leaking showers and not study shower floor but overall good place and reasonable price
- Cas from Oz (8/5): Quiet garden setting a little out of town - Booked this hotel due to a last minte change of plan.
It is a little out of the way but is quiet and has a large garden out look.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the restaurant food was more than adequate for our one night stay.
- Nishanth (10/5): Nice hotel in middle of rain forest - Nice experience with hotel muvil I would recommend to all hotel is clean and nice.
- Sophia (8/5): A Good Choice - Stayed here on my return from 2 days of safari. The room was large and had great amenities. The one hiccup was the shower, as the curtain didn’t quite cover and so no matter what I did, there was water on the floor, which is unpleasant and a possible liability. Other than that, the staff is great, the water pressure was good and the water hot and the beds were comfortable. No complaints.
- Betty (8/5): Good place to start a Safari trip - I, and family, spent two nights here before going on Safari. The hotel was clean, the food was good, the staff friendly and helpful. Nice pool. everything OK --exceptional for the price! Staff organized two local trip with driver/guide. Felt safe all the time . Wild animals visible from compound--spectacled owl and Colombus moneys. Was able to begin Safari rested.
- Julie (8/5): Great hotel for the night - Great overall experience, had no issues. They have a separate restaurant beside the hotel and a quiet pool out back. During our stay there were a family of monkeys that had taken up residence in the trees by the pool. Hotel staff kept them around as they were not disruptive to any of the guests and provided a lot of entertainment as they played around the yard and pool area.
- Satish (10/5): Nice Hotel - It was a great experience during my tanzania tour. I booked it through expedia and the response was prompt.
- lou (6/5): Not what I expected - Staff are friendly however the rooms have alot to be desired. old bathroom with lots of mold.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Safe, comfortable place to stay overnight before transition to safari. Staff was excellent!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Safe, adequately comfortable place to stay for one night. Staff was excellent!
- Michael (8/5): Friendly, efficient and secure - We stayed for a night at the beginning and end of a 7 day safari and the hotel was ideal. Anastasia made our stay hassle free & a real pleasure. The property is an old colonial house in lovely grounds, but it is a long way from downtown! Arusha has seen hectic & uncontrolled development in recent years & this has spread around a once highly desirable residence. This means Mvuli is really only suitable as a start & finish point for your planned activities. Having said that the hotel is secure and extremely well run with charming and friendly staff. The pool was in great condition, with loads of space to relax. They offer very good value transfers to both airports & are totally efficient and reliable. All in all highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very nice hotel to recover from safari - Very nice hotel, with great installations and very helpful staff. We stayed here for two nights after safari and was ideal to recover, do laundry and rest. The hotel is fat from the city centre but the hotel has cars for their guest and the ride to the centre is free of cost.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Rather peripheral no fuss accommodation - The staff was smiling and super pleasant. They have a nice playground for kids and plenty of space to relax. It was good we arrived in a LandCruiser, because the roads leading there are rather bumpy.
- Edmund Amarkwei (10/5): Lovely staff and comfortable stay - I absolutely enjoyed my stay at Mvuli Hotel and would like to recommend it to anyone who is travelling to Arusha
