- Nils (9/5): Traditional ryokan experience right next to everything - Real ryokan experience, nice little hot spring, great location right around the corner of everything! If not use to traditional ryokans, this can be slightly uncomfortable to sleep in, room felt a bit unorganized (but not unclean)
- Verena (10/5): Great stay in a great location - The location was amazing, all walking distance, very nice host and huge room. Small onsen in the ryokan.
- de dios jr (1/5): - Close to downtown My Japanese is not enough
- Sakthi A (10/5): Highly recommend staying at the Kikunoya Ryokan in Kanazawa - Extremely friendly, professional, courteous service during our 2 nights stay. Clean facilities. We needed a printout of our bus tickets and the gentleman at the front desk did it immediately with a smile. It was a perfect stay!
- Hayden (10/5): -
- Michael (7/5): It turns out that we are too old for traditional Japanese accommodation. But if you can stand it, do - A charming host I never did work out whether we had pre-paid for breakfast or not - in practice we slept so little that we got up very early and went in search of emergency coffee
- Alexandra (10/5): - The owner was very kind and helpful. Our room was big and clean and the onsen was nice and hot :). Awesome location. The futons were a bit hard but in our room there were extra futons to put on top.
- DIDIER (8/5): -
- Narece (7/5): It was a great location and our host was so friendly and sweet - The location and our host. The public bath was good too The musty smell in the room
- Hannah (8/5): - Locatie is super centraal, mooie grote kamer, heerlijk bad Gedeeld sanitair, helaas geen ontbijt mogelijk
- Mario (10/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- Hana (10/5): -
- Lisa (7/5): Hostel-like stay in popular area. - The host was wonderful. We had triple room on first floor. Shared bathroom and shower on same floor. Didn't see kitchen but we were really only there for sleeping. Very hard to find with google maps. No big signs outside and it's tucked a bit behind another building. Very noticeable damp/musty smell but everything was clean. Futons on floor were very thin and in the triple there was barely room to walk around. Limited outlets for charging overnight. Seemed pricey for what you get but is very close to some major sites. Would probably pick different neighborhood next time.
- Nicholas (10/5): -

- zara (8/5): Wonderful location and insight into traditional experience - Fantastic location for a couple of days in Kanazawa. The owner is lovely and welcoming even helping me with my bags up the stairs. The room is traditional Ryokan and quite the experience including green tea and hot water in your room each day. Lovely touch! I tried the baths and it was great experience, clean and no wait. Be ready for the hardness of the floor through the bed which is the traditional experience! One of the nights it was very noisy with a group of boys shouting through the place which affected my sleep. The host was apologetic the next day but it did affect my experience. I guess it might be the family as these tend to be family homes so taking with a pinch of salt.
- Elena (10/5): - Personale sempre sorridente e cortese, alloggio pulito e tipico ryokan. Ottima esperienza! Consiglio la colazione tipica (con piccolo sovrapprezzo).
- alberto (10/5): - Stanza, posizione, pulizia, servizi Nulla
- Chantal (6/5): - Ottima posizione rispetto al centro storico, vicina a diversi ristoranti.
- Lorenzo (9/5): Ottima esperienza in ryokan - Proprietari accoglienti, stanze tipiche e colazione super abbondante.
- ELIZABETH (9/5): - The room was simple and traditional, but more than adequate. The hotel's shared bathroom was pleasant with a large hot soaking tub. There were also some modern fixtures, like the touchless faucets and trash can. For some reason, there never seemed to be hot water in the bathroom sinks.
- Federico (10/5): Indimenticabile - Struttura tradizionale giapponese ma tecnologica.
- Emmanuel (9/5): Fine ryokan in a quiet neighbourhood. -
- Marco (8/5): -
- JEAN YVES (10/5): - Ryokan très bien placé, ultra propre. Accueil agréable. Rien
- Aronson (7/5): -
- Alyssa (9/5): An easy and comfortable place to stay near many beautiful Kanazawa destinations - I showed up bedraggled from the rain, and they kindly let me check in early, which was a relief. My room was very spacious for one person, and the futon comfortable. The bathing area was also clearly clean and well-kept, and also had a charming figure pointing you to where to put your towels. From my specific room, I did have to go downstairs to use the restroom, which wasn’t an issue for me, but might be harder for someone with limited mobility or who needs easy access to the restroom. But I’m sure they can accommodate those needs!
- Agata (10/5): - Wszystko! Domowe miejsce, estetyczny wystrój, czysto, życzliwa obsługa, no i ten klimacik! Lokalizacja blisko historycznych ulic. Fajne knajpki naprawdę niedaleko.
No i był domowy onsen!
- federico (7/5): -
- Ben (8/5): Excellent little onsen - An excellent little ryokan, really close to C21 Museum & DT Suzuku Museum. Easy walk to many of the samurai houses and close to the bustling heart of the city. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Being able to use the good sized onsen in privacy was great. Note that there is a bar of some sort right next door that seems to open at 10pm and close maybe around 5pm. Maybe on Fridays and Saturdays. So there was a fair bit of neighbourhood noise on those nights, but on the other nights of the week the place was much quieter.
Afortunadamente no supuso gran problema.
- Natasha (10/5): - The location was great - walking distance to the gardens and castle and many local museums, and it was easy to get there from the train station via the local bus. The room was clean and comfortable, and the owner was very kind and helpful. We did have to pay a small local tax upon arrival (maybe less than 1000 yen for 2 nights). I liked all the little gundam figures positioned around the building holding signs or singing karaoke, it gave a very personal touch. The onsen/shared bathing facility was relaxing and spacious, the yukata were so comfy to lounge around in, and I felt the price of the accommodation was very fair. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to Kanazawa! I don't really enjoy the smell of cigarettes, which you can smell in some areas because of the mix of smoking and non-smoking rooms, but we had a non-smoking room and couldn't smell anything in there so the building is overall well partitioned/ventilated to accommodate non-smokers.
- Rossana Maria (10/5): Perfect - It was perfect! The room was nice, big and clean. The owner Is lovely. We really enjoyed the thermal bath.
- Rubén (10/5): Awesome traditional experience in the hearth of Kanazawa - It was tricky to find the place the first time, because it is between two buildings, but the overall experience was awesome. The staff was very attentive since we stepped in, and the room was cleaned daily. The facilities were great. Even though the bathroom is shared, it can only be used by one party at a time, so no bathing with strangers.
The location was perfect, in the middle of most of the touristic attractions. It was quiet at night. I would stay here again for sure. There was nothing negative related to this property. There was some noise outside but was due to some construction happening at night. Unrelated to the property.
- Linda (8/5): It’s not really a Ryokan more of a home stay because the guest house is run by the owner with no other staff. He was ver - It was a great location for Castle, Kentoku-En gardens. Samurai and Geisha districts walking distance. The area is very relaxed and pretty Boho. Mattresses and pillows not v comfortable for my old bones. Decent pillows would definitely improve the experience. Breakfast was not available but there was a bakery coffee shop nearby.
- Annalisa (9/5): -
- ChiaHao (10/5): -
- valentina (7/5): -
- Laura (10/5): -
- Schmitt (7/5): -
- Susan (8/5): - Very cozy, with a kind and helpful owner.
- Rapoport (8/5): - Everything was very nice, it was our first experience of living in traditional Ryokan, and we enjoyed it very much. The only thing which was unexpected - it was no way to take a shower in the morning, only after 4pm with a traditional hot bath which was really great, but morning shower for me is also very important. Anyway, we liked the place and the city a lot!
- Marion (8/5): Really nice - The breakfast was really fine. And our host was very friendly
- Pierre (10/5): - Chambre spacieuse confortable. Hôte très gentil. Près des lieux d'intérêt.
- Giorgio (10/5): Ottima sistemazione - Piccola struttura tradizionale molto piacevole e ben posizionata.
- Joost (8/5): Great place to stay to visit Kenroku-en, Samurai neighbourhood - The location of Kikunoyan was well hidden in between some restaurants inside of Kanazawa. But you'll find yourself within walking distance of Kenroku-en, several musea and shops. I liked the traditional style of the Ryokan. Also the neat little onsen makes for a great welness moment after a long trip. The WiFi coverage up the second floor could improve.
- Wai Kwan (6/5): -
- Bobbie (10/5): A great experience. - Location is great for visiting the castle and garden with many food places near by.
- JUNGSOON (8/5): -
- Lucca (6/5): -
- Lily (10/5): - Best location. The host is so friendly, and the Ryokan is so much better than I expected. Love the little onsen. We never had to wait for the bathroom or toilet. We are a family of three.
We ordered breakfast at the Ryokan, so delicious and best value. Absolutely enjoyed our stay.
- Kay (8/5): Very happy with two night stay. - Authentic Japanese feel to accommodation. Bath was wonderful. Beds were hard. Lucky we had our pillows because rice pillows were uncomfortable. We are 62 so need more padding.
- eulalie (9/5): - Propre
Sympathique
Tout confort
- Francesca (10/5): -
- Alina (10/5): Great experience - Exceptionally nice host with a beautiful traditional Ryokan. We really enjoyed our stay there.
- Nelson62 (8/5): Fantastic Location - Location was fantastic. Very hospitable hosts.
Very clean. Large communal bath.
Clean towels each day. Tea making facility in room. The noisy pipes.
The WiFi was patchy.
We had a room downstairs, and we could hear every noise from upstairs guests.
- ANA (7/5): - Location is good, and nice small details in the room (sweets, hot thermo with water). Comfortable futons. Welcoming owner. I found it expensive for what you get. Tiny toilet upstairs for all the rooms and right next to one of the rooms. I found it Ok for one night if you want to have the ryokan experience without paying a fortune.
- John (10/5): -
- charles (10/5): -
- Ishimoto (8/5): -
- Nicolas (10/5): -
- Leonid (9/5): - Traditional house with AI AC , and super smart toilet.
Very wonderful bathroom (unfortunately close at 23:00) . I got bumped in my head several times because this house doesn't build for tall people.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Location was excellent. Lovely traditional ryokan experience in the rooms and communal bathroom. Strong iced coffee was always available in the lobby. Other guests were noisy and one night we could hear music from a nearby establishment. The single shared toilet on the upper floor is in a tiny room and next to another guest room.
- Cristina (9/5): - Posizione e pulizia ottima. Consigliato come ryokan.
- Eike (9/5): -
- Jin (6/5): - Traditionally working class lodging. AC is good. The bath system worked for me. The room was quite large for this kind of dwellings The location is excellent for the 21th Museum and shopping and restaurants. Slightly noisy at night. Walls are very thin.
- Ariel (8/5): Very nice stay - Lovely little spot tucked away. Kind owner and beautiful shared bath. We had no issues waiting for the bath— in fact, we didn’t see any other guests there. The room was spacious and had AC. After we checked in, we didn’t see the host again. We wanted to ask about doing laundry but couldn’t find him to ask.
- Christine (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (8/5): Very good -
