Guest Reviews

- Joseph (8/5): - Property had some age could use upgrades
- Dale (10/5): - One night sty. Room was great. Reasonably priced. AC was Awesome š
- Linda (10/5): - Staying in a natural atmosphere without being in a tent
- April (6/5): - A bit dated but clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The buffet could have been better. The food was overdone. And although we arrived at 4:30, the food was almost gone.
- Mandy (10/5): - Great place to meet up with family and visit!! Staff very friendly
- Angelina (10/5): - No microwave
- Amber (10/5): - Loved the stay..was quite and relaxing
- Sharon (10/5): - Beautifil grounds. Property is older but classic. Great price. Good buffet.
- Kenneth (8/5): - The facility was outdated but comfortable. Each room had a balcony with woodland views. The main lodge was rustic and appealing. It was overall a good value.
- Wendy (8/5): - Convenient local lodge. Wish it was open Sunday-Wednesday.
- Annelie (10/5): - We really like to stay here. It is very peaceful and relaxing.
- LARRY (8/5): - Very quiet in a rural setting! Clean and spacious room!
- A (10/5): - Very large room with two beds, balcony with chairs and a table, very clean! The price was lower than other places that we stayed during our trip and overall all value was far superior than other hotels! We will stay there again.
- RaeEllen (10/5): - Loved my stay and the lodge!
- wesley (2/5): - The staff lie about everything if you get a nosebleed or woman period or a scrape on knee they will charge you for it
- Wendy (10/5): - Special night with live bluegrass band in dining room.
Expedia needs to get updated facilities. No Pool, hasnāt had one for several years.
Feel pricing should reflect not having one.
Current pricing is about $25 a night higher than comparable facilities with pools.
- James (10/5): Weekend get away. - Lovely small KY staye park. Staff was nice and room was very comfortable.
- Jaime (6/5): Bad news about the pool⦠- Yeah, there was no pool. We had to go to a nearby lake and pay $5/person to swim. Huge bummer for the kids.
It was an old-condition state park. Mini golf was in good shape. People were nice. No roll-aways available. There was a museum and a restaurant but we didnāt use them. Air conditioner barely worked. Refrigerator available.
- Eileen (10/5): - Very nice room with balcony. Nice and quiet.
- Cody (10/5): - Dated, but pleasant. Would stay again
- Sarah (8/5): - Beautiful!
- Charles (10/5): Better than camping - Good accommodations and a good restaurant available
- Wendy (8/5): - Staff very accommodating.
Only had buffet which was a 3 for choices and flavor profile.
Concern about pricing since facility ran big ad for resident special price and Iām still waiting for email receipt because front desk printer so so.
- James (10/5): - Very nice room - clean and quiet.
- Michael (8/5): - Quite area. Room given bed sheets dirty with human hair and dark spots. Complained and given another room which was in a much decent shape. Friendly staff to say at least.
- RUBY (10/5): - Quiet relaxing atmosphere. Lots of parking. Dining room buffet had many options.
- Charles (10/5): - .
- Amy (8/5): - I've stayed at this establishment multiple times. It's always clean and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is good, but I wish there was more variety. The lunch and dinner bar are the same except for maybe 1 item.
- Karen (10/5): Nice Weekend Getaway - Love this place and the surrounding area. Very quiet and serene. Restaurant food was very good. Employees are hard-working and polite.
- Dale (10/5): - Very quiet location. Clean and well maintained unit.
- Marie (10/5): Very clean - One of the nicest hotels Iāve stayed at in a long time. Very clean and I love there is no carpet in the room. Much cleaner feeling.
- Dana (8/5): - There was nothing not to like
- Channa (10/5): - A cute little oasis that has everything you need
- scott (10/5): - Off the beaten path snd woth every mile!
- Jody (10/5): - Great staff, very friendly and welcoming. Room is extra spacious and beds/pillows high are quality.
- Cherryl (8/5): - Food was too expensive for what was offered and was just ok! Not a large selection on their buffet either! Go eat at Tracks, less money, excellent service and great food!
- Roger (10/5): - People were friendly, helpful and kind. The food was wonderful. The room was outstanding....we have paid a lot more for much less.
- Nina (10/5): - I loved that the rooms had a balcony/patio. It's hard to find these days.
- Verified traveler (10/5): I will be back! - We checked in Sunday evening and the resaurant/lounge was already closed, but it did look very clean and the selection of food looked good. There are lots of activities at the resort, but the nature of our trip did not give us time to enjoy. The rooms were very clean with comfortable mattresses. Each room has its own little balcony with comfortable chairs. The rooms even have a screen door so you can open the door and listen to nature without bugs...fantastic.
- Rosa L. (10/5): - The lodge room was large and spacious, very clean. Very friendly staff. Good food at the Hidden Waters resturant. Very enjoyable stay. Will return.
- Bob (10/5): - Much care & thought was put into furnishing this vacation property. The cleanliness, the furnishings, & the decor make a wonderful first impression & a very comfortable & enjoyable stay. The wraparound deck is a plus making the mountain view easily seen. We are teachers, & this vacation getaway gets an A rating from us! We would definitely stay here again!
- Brian (10/5): Wow, very surprised and want to come back - Wow! Clean comfortable room with a balcony that you can sit and watch sunset over tree line and try to count the lightning bugs. Or fireflies whatever you call āāem where you are from. Very quiet wooded area and hiking around park in morning.
Spacious room. Very clean. Great check in. Donāt want to move on.
- Jeanie (10/5): - We loved that we had a covered deck!
We did not care for the continental breakfast.
- Tye (8/5): - The room was clean and quiet and the staff was friendly. I had a full week booked, but a week before my stay, they called to say they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. I was disappointed and being last minute i had to scramble to decide what to do for those 2 nights. I understand giving their staff a break, but not sure why i couldnt stay. I didnt need my room cleaned those 2 days.
- Kelli D (10/5): - The property is peaceful and beautiful. The room had a private balcony which was really nice. The biggest complaint we have is that we were there for our wedding anniversary and the ādouble roomā was two full size beds, not queens. Neither of us are big people, but thereās no way we could both comfortably sleep in a full sized bed so we slept in separate beds.
The staff was incredible. The food was great. The museum was fantastic. We want to come back during summer to walk the trails
- Christopher (10/5): Nice place, location, and amenities - Nice place to stay and enjoy the nature of the battlefield, a spattering of trails to walk around, and a museum and other amenities that are part of the park. If you've ever stayed at a Kentucky State Resort Park, it is a very similar experience.
- Audra (10/5): - I liked that it had the shampoo, conditioner and body wash in dispensers on the shower wall. It was quiet, and peaceful. Employees were noce qnd funny.
- Kevin (8/5): - It was a good stay. The only issue was i wish it had more cabins to stay in. I only seen 2 that i know of. And i wish there was an area where you can enjoy the river scene. There was 1 boat ramp and everything else was surrounded by trees. No benches, childrens playground, or fishing area. But for a short getaway...it was ok.
- Richard (10/5): EAT IN! - Just a typical weekend stay.. nothing special. Most rooms do not have refrigerators... so we brought our own... no microwave either.. we made sandwiches... not roughing it... but it was a nice trip. Restaurants are took faraway to go out to eat. Come prepared to eat in!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Continental breakfast..individually wrapped pastries, cereal.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The key wouldn't open the door upon multiple attempts. There appeared to be long-time residents living there. The carpet should be removed & tile only--very stained. Pet fee for small dogs should be reduced to $10. Otherwise, very quiet & dark at night--good for sleeping.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The history was amazing
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Scenery quiet
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Only problem was breakfast options. Limited options that were dry and stale. Even on the weekends.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had previously stayed for our anniversary, were very pleased & decided to bring our older kids to the trip this time. The staff are nice & accomodating although they are extremely short staffed. We would prob go again but without the kids.
- Susanne (10/5): Loved it - Beautiful place to stay!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet spacious room with a nice balcony
- Verified traveler (8/5): - What i liked was the remote location which made it very peaceful and relaxing. 2nd level deck made it nice to see passing wildlife. Also liked the close parking. Was able to walk the entire grounds including trails. Dinner at restaurant was decent nothing to brag about. Having said this, if i am ever in the area again i would probably stay here again for the quiet.
What we didnt like was all the amenities such as the pool, miniature golf and on-site museum bldg are all an addition fee to use. I believe that booking a room and staying here should entitle you to free use of everything on the property. Complimentary breakfast on the weekdays needs improvement and more of a variety to accommodate someone with health issues, and found a few dead bugs in the room that were missed.
- David (10/5): AMAZING - This place is amazing, large room large bathroom easy access to room. Quiet and b the staff were amazing
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a state park accommodation, and we did not know what to really expect once we arrived. We were delighted! Staff was extremely helpful and personable from the very beginning of our phone calls to the end at check out. Room accommodations and condtions were very nice. The room was very clean, beds and linens were very comfortable, and the bathroom towels were fluffy and thick. Accommodation and guest comfort are definitely at a higher standard here than at some other big name hotels we've stayed in and paid more for. The room had an attached small balcony that faced the tree edge of the park where we sat for a bit to relax and listen to the evening birds...very relaxing area. The park also had an on site restaurant, but we arrived later and did not visit nor did we use any of the other amenities. Great place for families i'd say. We will stay here if we are ever in this location again !
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet , quiet , quiet, ...nice for those needing the rest & relaxation. Resturant onsite was affordable & delicious!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was very nice. The rooms are very clean and i loved the balcony. The only thing i I didn't like was the pool closed at 6 and was not close to the hotel.
- Teresa (10/5): - Lovely 2 night stay at the lodge at Blue Licks Resort Park. Very spacious room with balcony overlooking the woods. Boardwalk to the lobby and restaurant. Wonderful food at the restaurant. Will be returning again someday soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Enjoyed walking around the state resort park with all the history
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property was close to 4-H Camp Carlisle, clean, quiet and a good value.
- Russell (10/5): - Was a great and beautiful place to stay.staff was very friendly.wonderful views
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great price and excellent breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nothing, we liked everything about it and everything was great
- Cheyenne (10/5): Clean and Well Maintained Park and Facilities - We arrived a couple of hours early were allowed to check in for our stay at the lodge ahead of schedule. Thank you!
The park is very well maintained. Nearly all of the picnic tables were new. Some of the grills appeared to be new as well.
Our room was up to date and clean.
The food from Hidden Waters (the on-site restaurant) was delicious. I highly recommend eating there.
A great place for couples to spend a weekend.
I would recommend the park for families in warmer weather when the pool is open. The pool area appeared to be clean and well maintained also.
Overall it was a great place to stay and we will very likely visit again.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Check in was a nightmare never have had such rude treatment.
- Hopkins (10/5): - We LOVE the Park and Lodge. Unfortunately our sink drain was a little stopped up, but not the end of the world.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a Beautiful view of the River. The beds were comfortable. Room was very affordable
- Carl (10/5): Relaxing - Clean, neat rooms.
Lots of privacy
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Off the beaten path, but great find.
- richard a (10/5): Very Pleased!! - Wonderful people. We have been on the road for a few weeks. First stay, no fighting in the halls or adjacent room, no slamming doors, elevator bells, aircraft, traffic or sirens to be heard. We heard silence. We had been away or a medical procedure, this our last night before we returned home. It brought us peace. Grateful for the folks here in out old Kentucky home!!
- Lea R (10/5): etaway - Wonderful weekend getaway, Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The room was large and clean. We'll be going back!
- judedean (10/5): - We enjoyed our trip to Blue Licks State Park. We asked for a room on the second floor when we made the reservations with Expedia. The desk clerk said that someone put us on the first floor but she saw the request and changed it to the floor that we wanted. Her name was Pat. I also wanted to use our gift card but she said they changed some things in Frankfort which apparently kicked out our gift card. They don't expire so she took care of getting it reissued for us. We weren't able to use the card for this stay. She had the card ready for us the next day. I really appreciated her time for doing this for us.
The room was large and roomy but the view from the balcony was nothing but trees. I think the park could improve on the view by cutting down some bushes and maybe a few trees to give a view of the river from the balconies. I've never stayed at a Ky state park that didn't have a view from the balconies.
- Jenifer (10/5): - Lovely park with trails. The lodge rooms were quite comfortable. Great water pressure! The chef at the restaurant is very skilled.
- Debbie (10/5): Quiet and serene - It was in a tranquil setting. A little rustic but beds were comfortable. There were spider webs in the tub but it comes with being in a wooded area. Spiders can make webs overnight. It was very peaceful and relaxing.
- Joe (10/5): - Pros: Beautiful property, great location halfway between Maysville and Lexington/Paris. Avoided the crowds and traffic and noise. Enjoyed exploring the property. The rustic dining room is beautiful. Everything was very clean. Friendly staff.
Cons: Rooms need to be renovated. $30 pet fee is the same the Ritz Carlton charges - literally - even if you stay just one night. This policy should be updated to reflect the charges in other hotels ($10 per night or $20 per stay up to 7 nights).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was above my expectations. The staff was very professional and friendly despite being extremely busy due to it being Valentine's Day. I'll definitely be staying again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was very nice an clean an amazing prices!! People was very great when we arrived which was late so they accommodated our needs.
- Thomas (2/5): - I made a reservation and it was not there when I got there.had to pay $20 more not to happy Never use your service again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice place. Nice scenery and hiking. Restaurant in house which was nice. A little hike to town but not too bad
- Shelly (6/5): - There was no mini fridge in the room. There was no food/snack vending machine available to get something to eat after kitchen hours. There was no where to get coffee before 7 š”. The buffet was minimal at best but was high dollar prices. If you ordered from the menu it was at least 45 minutes before you got your food and then ours was wrong. The staff was friendly but slow (slug slow). The room was fairly clean. Did have cobwebs around the base of the sink with a dead bug hanging from it. Not enough towels in the room for 3 people. First time staying in a State Park was highly disappointed.
- Linda (6/5): - Very clean comfortable rooms. Just need laundromat or something.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was not the same park as I remembered as a child.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Facility could stand an upgrade. Doesn't look like state has kept up with the times.
- CSS (8/5): - The staff is great and the rooms & lodge clean. The location & outdoor scenery is beautiful. The rooms are basic with beds, bathroom, table & 2 chairs. No refrigerator, no microwave. Restaurant on-site is pleasant and food good. No 'comfortable' seating in the rooms or lodge, no indoor pool . . . all of which is OK when weather is good and you are outside. However, when cold and wet outside - it would have been nice for a seating area in Lodge around a fireplace for reading or playing board games. Appears to be a lodge set up to accommodate retreats & conferences.
- Theresa (8/5): - Rooms need refrigerators and microwaves. Great stay though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Resort was nice and clean. Nice staff. However, the dinning room did not open until 8:00 am for breakfast during the week so had to find some where else to eat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful location and tremendous value - Amazing location with tremendous value. Pet friendly and lots of trails to take your dog walking. Will visit again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cool area! Lots to do on site! Would definitely stay again!
- Linda (10/5): - Had fun hiking. Loved the history. Wish trails had the names on the post. Would have been easier to read the map. Nice park. Food was great.
- Amber (10/5): - Awesome!!
- Wendy (10/5): - Great people anwe will be back for sure. d facilities. Love it here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was great except the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very kind staff.
Beautiful setting.
Good food.
Would come back again.
- Janet (10/5): - The room was very clean and the area was beautiful. My friend had a balcony where she could smoke and it was clean and private. The only thing we didn't like was a wasps nest near the balcony, which we informed the staff of.
