Guest Reviews
- Sean (10/5): -
- Huy (10/5): - Rất tốt
- Joerg (5/5): Passable - The room was big and the location was good. No TV like in the description and no compensation for that. Blocked shower drain the first night. Breakfast was poor and the preparation place for it looked very messy. No one at the desk the whole day, only available on WhatsApp. Scooter, Laundry it's all cheaper next door. The owners kids made a lot of noise in the hall in front of our room until 23:30. Calling the view from the balcony a mountain view is very brave.
- Cerys (8/5): Very good - Got there at 2 am. Reception kindly let us check in later so really helped us out
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional - great place with friendly hosts. picked us up from the station and brought us back. organised a motorbike for us so we could see all the sights. thank you very much!
- Jessica (8/5): Lovely place and great stay nonetheless thankyou! - Nice place, we arrived very late due to our bus and the owner was more than happy to check us in then. Helped with bus tickets. Comfy and clean room Taxi options a little expensive compared with other booking offices nearby, heavy rain meant some of the walkways, which are partially open to outdoors, were slightly wet with puddles of water
- Joana (9/5): Superb - Great location, close to lots of restaurants and bars. Breakfast was great too every morning. Rooms were nice and spacious. We were stuck here during the Typhoon and felt safe in this accommodation. Family running the place was friendly, and very sweet kids :) We were told driving to the paradise cave with a bike was dangerous, and that we should have his brother drive us with the car instead. Felt like a bit of an attempt to make more money off us, as when we agreed and went we only saw people on bikes and the road was perfectly safe, not windy or anything at all.
- Teddy (8/5): Very good - Very kind and friendly staff, even gave me petrol when my bike ran out. Little noise with the nightclub next door. Also fun there's a nightclub next door 😅
- Domantas (3/5): A place just to crash after sleeper bus before checking in to another hotel - Arrived 3 a.m. after sleeper bus just to spend the night until the morning, it seemed that the receptionist was too lazy to give a room he was supposed to give. We got a room somewhere in the backyard without windows.
- Aoife (8/5): Would stay again - It was very handy location. Central. Good motorbike rental and good advice for local area. Let us check in very late (3am due to bus delays) woke up to let us in.
Let us store our bags after checkout. Earlier check out (11). Something to consider
- Alexandra (7/5): Ok - Good location
Large spacious rooms
Good breakfast
Great price Issues with air con and fan. Air con not effective at cooling the room and caused difficulty sleeping.
Next to very loud night club - also affected sleep.
Tours, bus tickets etc more expensive than elsewhere in town.
- Dominic (5/5): An affordable, basic hotel next to a loud nightclub. - The manager was very helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean, with large bathrooms. It's located on the main street of Phong Nha, so is well located for the nearby amenities. Motorbikes can be rented at the hotel. It's next-door to a very loud nightclub. The thumping bass bled through the walls all night and it was hard to sleep. (The club is open every night 5pm - 4am, according to Google.)
- Harley (7/5): Good for short stay. - Helpful staff, breakfast combined drinks and dessert, spacious room, big restroom, clean, just 10 mins walk to Phong Nha Cave , good restaurants around like Bamboo restaurants, tour agencies. Air conditioning is not compact enough for the room ( 25-30 m2 ). Room is too hot , take couple hours to cooling down the temperature of room. Fan is too strong and noisy . Club is noisy at night.
- Emer (10/5): Exceptional - Our best stay in Vietnam so far after being here for 2 weeks already. SUPER clean and there is a glass separation between the shower and the toilet so unlike other accommodations you don't have to take a shower and the toilet gets wet! And the bathroom didn't smell like humidity like all the other places we stayed. It was super clean and really well kept. Also the most comfortable bed I've had so far in Vietnam. Air conditioning and ceiling work great to cool down. The owner is lovely, he let us use a moped and made us breakfast too. We needed an extra night stay and he let us have another night with no hesitation! Thank you Son! We loved our stay here. Also great location really close to everything Nothing!
- Natalia (8/5): Very good - The property manager was extremely helpful and booked us a tour and night bus for a great price. He also check on us when we were out with motorbikes and when we were waiting for our bus, making sure we were okay. Really appreciated his dedication. The room was very large and beds were decent, but the water pressure is low and the sink kind of shot water everywhere. Very small complaints because you get what you pay for, overall great bang for your buck.
- Anthony (10/5): The owners were so helpful and really facilitated a great stay. It would have been nice to stay long - It's in a great location and the breakfast was nice. The super helpful owners really make it top notch.
- Megan (2/5): I understand why it’s cheap now - Location good Ants on walls in our room
Hotel is a ghost town
Shower water did not drain at all, couldn’t shower as would over flow
Wardrobe smelt of dust moths
Closed curtains and was a dust bath
- Tina (7/5): Good - Great location helpful and friendly staff
- Olivia (10/5): Exceptional - Son was so helpful went above and beyond Nothing!
- Yan (9/5): Superb - Great location, a few minutes walk from mini mart and cave boat station. Room is big and comfortable, as well as bed. Good breakfast. The manager respond social app very fast so there's no problem communicating before arriving Phong Nha. He booked a bus to Da Nang in advance which is very helpful. Lack of like everything, shampoo, hair dryer, etc, but ask the staff you'll get those. Should've hair dryer in each room, the staff take one from another room. Some other reviews didn't meet these situations so need some luck to have all well prepared. The night-time staff not good at English, ask the manager online for help.
- Nathan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Caitlin (8/5): Great value and great location for a comfortable stay - We enjoyed our stay at the Midtown hotel. The owner was able to check us in at 4AM at the time that our bus arrived, so that was a great start of our stay. The room itself is very spacious with a big en-suite bathroom including some toiletries. AC works like a charm. At the time of our stay they also had blankets on the bed (not only a sheet). Breakfast options were quite limited, but we enjoyed it every morning.
The hotel also arranges tours to the different caves and national park. If your room is located on the street side and if you’re a light sleeper, you may experience some discomfort from the noise of the club next door. However, we were able to sleep through it without a problem.
- Maisy (10/5): Great - They were very accommodating. We booked last minute and arrived around 5am. Yummy breakfast. Great sized room. Thank you for our stay
- Mario (10/5): Great staff and service - Great hotel with very nice staff always ready to help
- Junlin (10/5): Super stay - Very good room with a big bathroom and fridge, owner is very kind and speak very good English, location is perfect in the heart of Phong Nha
- Lucy (8/5): Very good - Good location close to everything you need. Very spacious and lots of room, clean aswell. Felt like a ghost town and there was no one around.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Right beside bus station
- Anoushka (8/5): Great - Good staff, good air on and very clean. He let us check in very early in the morning (4.30 am) so kind. He also helped us book our transport and duck stop. It’s also close to a really good breakfast spot Nothing
- Neville (7/5): Strange place but lovely large rooms. - Really large clean room with a lovely balcony to sit out on. Breakfast ok, Felt like a ghost hotel, think we were the only ones there. Staff not always around - although the lady overseeing it was pleasant, no English. Just felt very weird being in an empty hotel that could be made to be really nice.
- Patrick (6/5): Pleasant -
- Globetrotter118 (8/5): Better than expected - The room was so much bigger and better than expected. The guy who checked me in spoke very good English, and I booked a tour through him. Unfortunately this guy was the only person who spoke English. I had to ask elsewhere if I couldn't find him. My room was very comfortable and the whole hotel is very spacious, but it's really only rooms and not much else. There is however an excellent travellers restaurant just across the street which is open until very very late to accommodate people coming off the late arriving buses. It was nothing I didn't like.
- Colton (8/5): Very good -
- Lorin (9/5): Nice stay - Owners were lovely, very accommodating with our 3am check in! Rooms were clean, and bed was comfortable, close by to restaurants and bars! Shower wasn’t great, not very powerful and went cold after 1 minute
- Laura (10/5): Perfect - Good breakfast great location friendly staff and big room. Perfect for our stay. Rented motorbike off accommodation and booked out bus through them. Nothing
- Patrick (6/5): You get what you pay for. - The price was quite cheap. The room was so loud.
The window gave on a corridor so it was more like an enclosure.
The shower was broken and had very less pressure.
The lights were horrible.
- Jack (9/5): Superb -
- Jack (8/5): Nice stay - The service was great, particularly with the owner helping us with bus The beds were a little springy
- Amarins (7/5): Fine hotel, especially considering the price - The owner really helped us with booking a bus and arranging a taxi from Dong Hoi. The contact through WhatsApp was very good and we could check in late. It was a bit unclear what to expect when we arrived and when we got down for breakfast, the communication with the staff there was not really clear for us, but it worked out in the end.
- Tony (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Florian (10/5): Exceptional - Unbeatable price/value
- Harriet (8/5): Good - Very basic but value for money is good
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sara (9/5): Superb - Great stay, good price, easy to book tours though. Couldnt use the HDMI as was unable to access it on the TV, plus fridge had other peoples food (205) - it needs removing. we were able to check in early from the bus, and room was huge. good breakfast, booked tour + bus through hotel very easy and good just clean the fridge out - otherwise pefect
- Graham (9/5): Superb - Arrived at 330am off sleeper bus and we could check in by calling guy.
- Ellen (7/5): Good -
- Heather (5/5): Passable -
- Adam (5/5): okay for a one night stay - Good location, nice restaurants nearby, helpful staff Room was a bit dated, bathroom could do with a clean, noise from nearby bar can be a problem if your a light sleeper
- Justyna (9/5): Superb - Large and clean room, friendly staff who helped us to organize local tours and onward bus travel.
- Joe (9/5): Superb -
- Eva (7/5): Good - Clean, confortable, friendly owner, good breakfast. The music from the club next to is very loud and you can hear it from the room...
- Daisy (7/5): Hotel good, noisy bar next door - Large spacious rooms and clean, good value Not the hotels fault but did affect our stay- there is a night club/bar next door which plays music very loudly into the early hours of the morning
- Sarah (10/5): Great stay - The host is very friendly and helpful. We were able to do our check-in in the middle of the night (we arrived with the night bus), he organised the tours for us and the transportation when we left. Thank you!
- Augustina (10/5): Fine stay and very helpful owner - Room was big and clean with 2 large windows, AC was working fine. The hotel is just across street from bus stop, but our bus stopped 800m further. We called the owner at 3:30am and he came to pick us in 2 minutes. He also arranged for us for an awesome tour: Paradise Cave and Dark Cave.
- Janet (7/5): Good -
- Lisa (9/5): Great budget option - would stay here again - Great location. Very clean. Large rooms. Good WiFi. Limited English spoken so made communication difficult
- Abby (10/5): Great value, clean and comfortable - Everything - location, owner spoke English, comfortable beds, clean. Great value Nothing
- Kai (9/5): Superb - This hotel is a grand old lady that has seen it all. As such, if you want to find flaws, you'll find many. But she provides big rooms, comfy beds, a hot shower, and is run by a homy family that takes wonderful care of you. Thanks! The noise from the club next door, but usually they stop at civilized hours.
- Matthew (4/5): Disappointing - Was initially satisfied with the price and the room but on the first day developed a bite on my leg, wasn’t sure what it was from as was in bed under the covers. Second day my fears were confirmed as I found a bed bug. I told the owner and although he apologized, when I asked if I would get some discount for room price, he denied it and justified it by saying; it’s a cheap room and you would find the same thing at a hostel … please note after 2 months of staying in hostels this was my first encounter with bed hugs
- Ana (5/5): Passable -
- Nina (9/5): Superb - The host is really kind and helfpul, especially as we checked in at 4AM. Asditionally, he advised us to visit the Pongh Nha cave instead of the Paradise cave because of the rain which impacts the road conditions. He really just wants to help you and helped us do a tour on the dag we left: gave the option for a ate check out and also provided food to us for the trip. Was a lovely stay!
- Macaulay (9/5): Superb - Was able to rent bikes and breakfast was good. Room was huge. Initial issue with checkin due to arriving on a sleeper bud but other than that, all good
- Daniel (3/5): Poor - The man running the hostel is very friendly and sorted our bus ticket to our next stop. Ants in the bed! The hostel on the whole seemed very unclean, the dining table where we had breakfast was dirty on the floor and the rooms weren’t exactly the cleanest. We swapped rooms twice and all rooms were the same, dead bugs, cobwebs etc. but the worst was the ants!
- Ken (10/5): Exceptional -
- Josh (5/5): Passable - The helpful staff A bit dated
- Wen (7/5): Thanks for your hospitality! - Arriving unexpectedly in the middle of the night with 5 people the budget midtown hotel offered us rooms and tried everything to make this stay comfortable for us. The hotel is Many thanks!
- Benno (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms were of great size and the whole hotel was very clean. Breakfast was easy to get (all you had to do was ask the owner at the reception) and there's enough choice. All together it is well worth what you pay for and the location is perfect aswell near some nice restaurants.
What most stood out to me though was the owner's help as travel agent;
The owner of the hotel helped us book a week worth of travelling, consisting out of much more than just Phong Nha.
After he helped us find a great tour in Phong Nha which didn't make us feel like we was part of a touristic machine, we asked him if he knew a couple good tours in Ninh Binh aswell. He more than delivered. He came with some amazing, very cheap, private tours from local friends he had there who showed us the most amazing things in and outside of Ninh Binh (including even a day trip to Pu Luong!!).
After that he also booked our Ha Long Bay tour as well as transfers and everything.
The owner is the most helpful travel agent I've ever come across. He makes you feel like his major goal is to provide you with the best Vietnam experience possible. All in all worth much more than 5 stars.
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional - Really central and owner was very nice. Highly recommend.
- Conor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michal (7/5): Good - The location was good Place looked like it needed some love, breakfast was very basic
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janey (6/5): Good comfortable cheap stay but not an amazing vibe overall. - Property was in a good location and rooms were large and an extremely large bathroom which was good knowing you had places to put your stuff if travelling. The property has a lot of potential but has a run down feel too it, the staff are friendly but often doing other things and just needs a revamp to lighten the mood of customers to give it a lovely feel. Rooms at clean but lots of open space in the lobby which could be used for other things
- Grzegorz (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious and very clean rooms, very friendly owner speaking good English, if you go to sleep very early you should ask for a room not facing the next door karaoke:)
- Sarah (10/5): Great stay - The owner was amazing. He was very accommodating and helpful. That made the trip 100 times better.
- Avery (8/5): Very good - really friendly helpful staff
- Jess (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional - Very good value for money. There isn’t really a view from the room but it didn’t really matter. Also there is a window from the room looking out into the corridor which was a little strange.
The owner offers plenty of cave tours and you can rent a scooter, he can also organise onward travel for you which was very useful.
Good location near loads of restaurants. The breakfast wasn’t that great.
- Hannah (3/5): Avoid hotel in Phong Nha - The breakfast was good, it’s made to order so was fresh. The location was good, on a main strip next to bars and restaurants. When we arrived at 4am we checked into our hotel and went straight to sleep. In the morning however we noticed our bed was soaking wet. The ceiling had a massive crack and was leaking. We asked the owner if we could change rooms and he said yes, however we were downgraded to a smaller room, no fridge or balcony (we had one in the first one and it is what we paid for!!) The owner did not apologise and didn’t seem that bothered. I had a look on booking.com and there was still 3 rooms available which were the same ones we booked (obviously he couldn’t be bothered cleaning them). Then in our new room we found 3 cockroaches in the bathroom which was disgusting!! The owner was also VERY pushy in us buying his tours, we told him no we were going to do the caves ourselves and rent a motorbike. We asked how much to rent a motorbike and he said 150k a day, we thought that was quite expensive. We asked along the whole strip how much and they all said 100k for a day. He followed us when he saw us ask on the street how much to rent a motorbike for a day, he made us feel very uneasy. The next day he said he would do it us for 100k, knowing full well he was trying to scam us, we still said no!! He continued to send me a very pushy text explaining why I should not go and do the caves ourselves, everything he said was completely wrong and we had the best time and it was so easy to get to the caves. I would avoid going to this hotel at all costs, all the rooms seem very old and like they are about to fall apart.
- Clack (10/5): amazing stay! - Lovely property! Such spacious rooms with mini fridge, TV and huge bathrooms! The staff were very friendly and helpful and we rented out bikes which was very easy and booked a bus through them too! Breakfast was included and was delicious! I would 100% recommend staying here and would stay here again!
- Lucas (8/5): Very good -
- Marie (10/5): A warm welcome and excellent stay! - best banana pancake in my life! really nice owner, extremely helpful in every way! was perfect!
- Carrie (10/5): Stay at Phong Nha Midtown! - My room was huge and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the shower extremely hot. The owner is so helpful. He suggested a great tour, had motorbike rental and was available in person and via whatsapp for all questions. He went above and beyond to get my notebook back to me after I left it as well. I know where I'm staying the next time I visit Piong Nha Ke Bang
- Faqihah (10/5): Student Group Stay - Staff was very nice, even information of the place was informed before going to the stay. Breakfast was delicious and service overall pleasant. Would come again.
- Warburton (8/5): Phong Nha midtown reviiew - Very friendly & helpfull staff. . Rooms were large h very clean. Attention to detail could be better. There were 2 TV remotes in .my room, oth with no batteries so TV was useless
The price was quite high but it was national holiday
- Nicole (7/5): HUGE ROOMS AND HUGE BAYHROOMS - centrally located , HUGE room, huge bathroom, nice balcony with chairs and lots of aloe Vera plants on balcony
