• Vincent (10/5): A lovely experience - The setting is nice and welcoming, with flowers everywhere and a lovely fishpond. Very useful carpark. The bedroom was nice and cosy, with lots of space to put away all our stuff in drawers and a spacious wardrobe; a very comfortable private balcony and soothing view over meadows. The bathroom was adequate. The breakfasts were simply EXCEPTIONAL: freshly cooked on demand by very nice, helpful staff, a wide choice of all kinds of goodies, and the best cooked bacon I have ever tasted in a hotel. There was nothing to criticise.

Breakfast was good, and overall the stay was enjoyable. The challenges with getting staff is clearly impacting the team, which is a real shame. The manager and his team are clearly passionate about the service they provide, but they are stretched. The local authority has not helped the situation.

• Joris (8/5): Grote kamer met prima bed en meer dan uitstekende ontbijt. - Het uitzicht vanuit de kamer en het verse fruit bij het ontbijt. Dat was echt heel lekker! De kamer was veel te warm. Dat vind ik 's nachts niet fijn. Ook waren er andere gasten die veel te veel eten op hun borden achter lieten bij het ontbijt. Dat hebben wij bij andere uitspanningen niet gezien. Het hotel heeft er wel actie op genomen door bordjes te plaatsen dus dat doen zij goed.

• Danny (4/5): I wouldn’t recommend - Great breakfast service. During my recent stay at the hotel, I unfortunately encountered several issues that significantly impacted my experience. Firstly, the cleanliness of the room was far from acceptable. The bathroom was particularly dirty, with unwashed surfaces and lingering odors, which made it uncomfortable to use. Additionally, the shower was barely functional, providing little more than a trickle of water, and to make matters worse, there was no hot water available. The state of the bed added to my discomfort; it felt unclean and uninviting, which did not allow for a restful night’s sleep. Overall, my experience was disappointing, and I would not consider returning to this hotel. It’s clear that improvements in cleanliness and maintenance are urgently needed.

• Samia (10/5): Excellent Stay, Beautiful scenery and telescope to stargaze and superb breakfast! - The terrace was lovely with a beautiful scenery of the outdoors and nature. Extremely peaceful to look at. We were even provided a telescope to look at the stars at night and that was such a wonderful surprise!! Also I loved the wide spread of breakfast options which included English breakfast, continental and I was very surprised by the spread of food ranging from smoked salmon to fruits, juices, coffees, muffins and eggs and beans etc A lock in the bathroom would have been nice. I went with my husband so it was fine but imagine friends went together, that would be a bit inconvenient if the wind blew the door open.

Main reception and restaurant lovely Bathroom wasn’t pleasant, stained floor, old fixings left on wall, shower cubicle very small. Appreciate it is a standard double but for £120 a night, expect a better bathroom. Just a little attention to detail would make it better.

The poached eggs were perfect, the scrambled egg less so. Dinner on our first night was absolutely fine but didn’t enjoy the second night quite so much. The room was small but otherwise fine. The cold tap didn’t run very fast. The bed could have done with a thicker duvet. One of the cupboard doors was difficult to open (room 3G). The shower was a bit weak. But we had a comfortable stay.

Lock on the restaurant toilet door in the Gents was broken, the Television in our room was not very responsive the remote was all taped up. Had already made them aware of my wife's disabilities and had ground floor room close to car park. The room was exceptional.. The bed was huge. Bathroom exceptional and well stocked. Excellent outlook. Check in and out times not restrictive. Seems churlish to list, but being absolutely accurate and very picky. . . Mattress was memory foam which made it almost impossible to move about on it - would expect it be hot in the summer. TV was extremely slow to react to remote. Heating was also extremely slow to react to remote. Breakfast was strange - main breakfast was pre-ordered and great - other items were offered piecemeal with no overall view of what else was coming. And one concern. I reported that the shower floor was slippery when wet and met with complete indifference.

• Bone (6/5): Sorry but wouldn't stay again. - Breakfast, although no labels to tell you what flavours the fruit drinks are. The approach and outside areas very nice. Near to Pett Level Rye and Winchelsea, the bar/ restaurant very nice. No instructions how to use the shower to get warm water and without flooding the bathroom. Drawers in bedroom poor state of repair.

• Iain (10/5): Superb All Round! - A Lovely Warm Welcome from Violet at reception,the room was lovely & all the staff were very friendly too.The Breakfast was really good,lots of it & nice & hot.We will stay again,all in all a really lovely hotel.Thank You. It would have been nice to have more hanging space for our clothes.
