Guest Reviews
- Melodi (10/5): The perfect stay in the Elgin Valley. - This is our 3rd time staying at Paul Wallace, we love staying in the cottages and exploring the Elgin valley. The cottages are very well equipped, the farm is so beautiful, the wine tasting that Paul or Bobby do are so personal and full of stories and the kids love playing on the farm and paddling on the dam. We highly recommend a stay at the farm, Nicky is a wonderful host. Absolutely nothing, we love staying on the farm and will visit time and time again.
- Sarah (10/5): Special place just outside of Cape Town - The setting is so special. Kids fished in the dam and caught bass. Well-equipped kitchen, nice addition of the airfreyer. Beds are comfortable, cottages are pretty. N/A

- Juanita (10/5): It was a pleasant stay and the hosts were friendly. Lovely little cottage for a night or two - We advised the office that we would be arriving quite late in the evening. The gate was left open for us and the key was left in the cottage. Beautiful setting and friendly hosts. I didn't enjoy the tiny hairdryer. Takes a little longer getting ready for a wedding - trying to blow wave long hair

The cottage was charming and cosy, and the fireplace was especially appreciated on a cold, wet July evening.
The location is great - peaceful yet conveniently close to Grabouw and Kleinmond, not to mention the famous farm stalls of Peregrine, Houw Hoek and Elgin Railway Market. Highly recommended; and be sure to enjoy some wine tasting while youâre there!

The winetasting was exceptional and their wines are made with love. Thank you for the warm welcome. The farm fresh eggs and firewood for the indoor fireplace and braai outside. The braai area was cleaned the next morning and we received more wood for the next braai. The fireplace was warm and comforting and complimented the accommodation. Quiet and peaceful. The Labs were a treat and the farm itself with the two dams are a beautiful place just to relax and find your soul. A visit to Elgin Railway Market on a weekend is a MUST. Thank you Paul and Nicky for a warm, hearty stay. Maybe some hooks for the wet towels. Otherwise everything you needed were supplied. Lovely accommodation.

- Clive (8/5): Very pleasant and quality time with family - Lovely area. Height of fruit picking season. Beautiful valley. Nice walking through the vineyards. Wine tasting interesting. Lots of information in the brochure on things to do around and about. Only downside was the 3 undisciplined dogs who were underfoot at meal times. One even took a bite of our 18 month old granddaughterâs food.

The beds were super comfortable and very clean. Kitchen was well equipped, we had a braai option that we did not use! Would definitely recommend. - Dave (8/5): Would like to visit again. - The location was excellent. The weather, unfortunately, was not. We were house bound for most of our stay and quite comfortable. Only the weather and we were too late to taste any of their wines which was our fault.
- Roeland_ (9/5): Great cottage in a beautifull environment, I would highly recommend. - Beautifull location, nice and quit.
Well looked after place. Everything was clean and a lot of things was provided for: coffee, tea, cookies, braai wood, fire place wood, anti-mosquito stuff (altough there were no mosquito's when we were there), the garden/grass is well maintained and there was a good table to sit at outside.
The communication before we arrived was pleasent. We got all the info without getting bombarded with messages, and on the day of arrival some instructions on how to get there were also send.
All in all a great place to stay. Would love to come back in the winter and enjoy the cosy living room with fire place to wind down and do some wine tasting in the neighborhood. There is not much to improve actually. If anything,
- an extra hook next to the shower for the towel,
- a long mirror in a better place (there was one behind the door but then you need to close the door every time)
- The bed was fine and no real complaints but if you want to go from a 9 to a 10 this would need to improve
- Roddy (8/5): Great short stay with very warm hosts - Very nice cottage with all the necessities you need Unfortunately the cottages are next to the farm shed so there is an element of industry to the immediate area
- Andrea (10/5): The Wallace's are exceptional hosts, offering warm hospitality, stunning views, and delicious wine. - Nicky, Paul & their son Bobby were exceptional hosts. They treated us so kindly and spoilt us with a free wine tasting for my partner's birthday. Bobby ran the wine tasting really well giving us a lot of information about their family, farm and how their wine is produced. A lot of passion goes into their wine making and guest hosting and one is made to feel very welcomed and at home on the property. I could not recommend them enough and can't wait to go back and visit again! The farm itself is absolutely stunning in every direction and the cottages are fully equipped for self-catering visits.
- Shelley (10/5): Exceptional - We had an incredible stay. Paul and Nicky were great hosts, the location was something out of a movie and the cottages were well kitted out, clean and very comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful stay! Absolutely nothing.
- Adi (9/5): Superb -
- Subramoney (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was neat and well equipped. We had amazing sleeps None
- Anthony (8/5): Friendly hosts lovely location -
- Yolanda (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was so well equipped! Stunning views! Perhaps a shower curtain or door to prevent the bathroom floor from getting wet when showering.
- Lisa (9/5): great stay - Everything was fantastic, hospitality was great, service excellent, area was beautiful. Definitely would stay there again
- Michelle (10/5): A wonderful 2 night stay. The location, cottage and beautiful setting was perfect! - The location was perfect. Absolutely stunning setting.
- Anne (8/5): Lovely location in Elgin Valley. - The location of the cottage and the view if exceptional. The cottage we stayed in felt a little cramped. Quite a lot of furniture in it.
There was no shower curtain so water tended to go onto bathroom floor.
Would have been nice to have a more comfortable chair to sit outside the property.
- Sarah (10/5): We had a fantastic time at Paul Wallace Cottages. - What a gorgeous place! Perfect for our family with kids. We only stayed one night but made the most of the beautiful farm around us. Nicky and Paul were excellent hosts, the facilities great, wine superb and it had such a homely feel, made even more welcoming by the very friendly dogs. We all, from grandparents to kids, loved it! Thank you Nicky and Paul for your hospitality.
- Piet (10/5): Exceptional - Warm welcome from Paul, Nix and dogs. Bengi is such a sweetheart. We felt right at home in the cosy and clean cottage. Appreciated the farm eggs and fresh roses. Don't forget to do a wine tasting. The Elgin wines are truly on another level.
- Marie (10/5): Would love to stay there again. - Beautiful farm, fantastic location friendly hosts and such sweet farm dogs. The many roses behind our cottage are amazing, the views over the dam and the mountains so beautiful. We appreciated the personal touches such as farm fresh eggs, roses to welcome us, milk in the fridge, homebaked biscuits and bottled water. I liked everything
- Leigh (8/5): Lovely stay, beautiful location and great hosts!! -
- Annette (10/5): Great cottage for weekend away close to Cape Town - Lovely cottage with a fireplace. We loved the dogs of the farm and how friendly they were towards the guests.
We had a great stay. We only missed some reading lamps at the couch to make it more cozy in the evening.
