- Huber (10/5): An absolutely sugoi stay in Kurobe, a real treat - Amazing place to stay, absolutely gorgeous location and the Onsen was absolutely to die for. The hotel was a bit old and had a bit of an 80s vibe which was really cool. And it was amazing to receive kimonos to wear, and you could just walk around everywhere in them. Honestly just do yourself a favor and stay here Sugoi
- Nadia (10/5): -
- debbie (9/5): - Loved the traditional style room and the kimonos and onsen. Staff were awesome. That we could not add dinner for a y of our nights stay.
- Tyvian (9/5): An idyllic setting. Large beautiful onsen. Old school charm. - Wonderfully attentive team. Old World charm. The outside onsen is beautifully located. Classic style and service. Difficult to describe but it’s certainly a little dated. You feel a little like you have been transported back to the 1960’s but in some ways this is actually a positive.

- Kee Chuan Andrew (10/5): Hotel room and onsen with great views of the gorge. - Spacious tatami rooms. Rooms and outdoor onsen had great views of the gorge and passing rail train. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, and staff were friendly and helpful.
- MEI FUNG (7/5): -
- Agenor (7/5): The hotel is quite dated but the rooms were clean and the onsen was lovely. Really lovely view of the valley. The dinner - The onsen and the food were great! The facilities are dated

- GEOK TENG (8/5): Very great and awesome staff. Thank you. - Staff is excellent, sincere and very well polite and attentive. We were stuck in the rain, trying to park our large 7 seater car at night. The staff came out themselve with umbrella and assisted us in parking.

- Rob (6/5): Dated hotel trading on its reputation/location - Public baths, polite staff, authentic breakfast. Very dated, the musty smell, lacking attention to detail.
- Alan (10/5): A cozy room with a view that fulfills all your needs, 10/10 would book again. - The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to assist us. The shuttle bus service was great, both for driving us out to a dinner location, as well as dropping us off at the train station. The room was one of the best we've stayed at, yet, and the view was incredible.

- Nancy Agapito (10/5): - We had a great stay at this hotel/ryokan. It is a very charming hotel in a charming location. The hotel staff were very nice and accomodating, and their patience is admirable. We had a wonderful time in Hotel Kurobe and Unazukionsen, so we gladly extended our stay here.
The room was very nice, and the yukata is very comfy. I enjoyed the onsen very much. I love that there are also outside onsens, and that they are overlooking the valley. It's a shame I only found time to enjoy the onsen in the evening when we were back at the hotel.
The hotel is located in the valley, and you can see Kurobe gorge train as it drives over the bridge and on the other side of the valley. The hotel has a tradition of waving to the train with flags in the morning. I found it very entertaining.
We love the drip coffee they serve in the morning. Perfect to have while watching the train pass by.
They have shuttle bus which they use to drive guests to and from the train station. It seems that the shuttle is always at the train station every time a train arrives to pick up guests. We saw a shuttle driver everytime we arrived at the station asking us if we wanted to have a ride back to the hotel. Talk about service (although we refused since we wanted to walk).
Shout out to the young gamer "ninja" staff who carried my husband's heavy backpack. He did not have to, but it is probably his duty. You are a strong ninja!
Shout out to the staff who drove us to the train station very early in the morning of the day we left. :) We wish there was at least one mixed onsen. We could not open the terrace door because of a warning of stink beatles.
- Celestin (10/5): -
- Arline (10/5): Fantastic location, baths with views and staff! - Breakfast was an amazing selection of Japanese small plates with rice, miso soup and tea, lots of vegetables and authentic dishes. Staff could not have been more helpful and were willing to drop us off at/pick us up from the station or local restaurants at any time (the hotel is a short walk away from the train station/restaurant area but there is no footpath). The room description says "shared bathroom" but the room had its own toilet, sink and shower as well as access to the large hot spring baths downstairs (the hotel is built into the side of a valley) with beautiful views from the indoor and outdoor baths. Lovely snacks provided daily and the staff worked to accommodate us by providing extra futon. They also provided a list of local restaurants open for lunch and dinner. The room type was not clear when booking - I thought I had booked a room with Western style beds (one person has back problems and cannot sleep on futon) but when we arrived we had a Japanese style room with futon. The staff tried to move us to a room with beds but none was available, they gave us extra futon to stack and create a thicker mattress.
- Konekochan (9/5): The views are incredible and the staff are exceptional. - The staff were incredible and helped us find information on the next leg of our journey to Shirakawago by calling the bus company we were struggling to book. We weren't able to use the onsen when we arrived as there were problems with the pipes. We were dissappointed as we were looking forward to the view from the onsen of the gorge. We did manage to use the onsen when we could see the view the following morning, however it was stressful not knowing what time it was since we needed to check out that day.
- Panida (9/5): - Open air Public bath it full feeling during stay.
Good food for dinner and breakfast None
- Takehiro (10/5): - Staff was beyond helpful. Shuttle service was amazing. Nothing
- Pedro (10/5): - Staff were amazing they were so nice and willing to help.
Awesome room with great view for the valley, the onsen both inside and out was so relaxing and frankly one of the highlights of our trip.
Transport to and from Unazuki town was provided free of charge.
I recommend this place to everyone who plans to visit this magical place.
- Wai Shun (9/5): -
- John Tehi (8/5): It’s great but make sure you include dinner in your booking in advance , you can’t add it once you arrive at the hotel - It was very traditional, the room was tatami mats with a great view of the autumn leaves on the mountain They didn’t check their messages so I waited at the station for an hour for the promised shuttle bus, also it’s imperative to organise dinner at this hotel in advance, there really is only 2 alternatives in the town and one was closed
(10/5): So relaxing - Everything!
The view was spectacular!
Trolley Train passing by, the mountains changing colors with the sunset, the onsen, welcoming staff!
On a adoré séjourner ici !
- Aldo (8/5): Fantastic location but would benefit from some renovation - The location is exceptional, isolated from the rest of the village and directly above the Kurobe Gorge, with views over the river and railway bridge. Unfortunately the structure of the hotel is a bit outdated, and I felt the price was not justified for the level of the facilities. It’s still worth for the location and views.
- Kristopher (8/5): Relaxing stay and really attentive staff. - Beautiful location and views. Rooms that had been updated were really nice. Older rooms had a lingering smell of smoke that wouldn’t be suitable for someone very sensitive or has asthma. The staff were incredible and shuttle bus was a nice touch. Property needs some repairs and renos in various areas.

- Caitlin (10/5): A relaxing experience of Japan’s countryside. - The property was traditional and came with a Yukata and a complimentary snack. The onsen was a lovely temperature and had a very spacious inside bath and the changing room. The staff were very accommodating, polite and helpful with travelling to and from the local town. The room had a beautiful view of the mountain and train, the futon set was incredibly comfortable with the duvet. The room itself was a little chilly but we did find blankets.
- Neson (10/5): -
- Camille Foireau (9/5): - The view from the room, restaurant, and bath

- Mayu (10/5): -
- Andreas (10/5): - Sehr freundliches Personal. Geräumiges Zimmer. Toller Onsen. Authentisches Frühstück. Kostenloser Shuttle Service von und zum Dorf/Bahnhof.
- Alexandr Bagirov (8/5): Pleasant stay with onsen - We loved the onsen and the food we received during breakfast. Front desk staff was very nice and kind, thank you for that! There's no AC in the room, just a fan. Sleeping is less comfortable unless you open a window. This didn't work in our case as that night was pretty windy.
Breakfast ends too early (8am).
Staff says you cannot pay the onsen tax with credit card even though it is possible, you just need to insist.
- X. (9/5): -
- Bryce (10/5): -
- Carsten (9/5): Very nice hotel - Amazing room (upgraded), lovely staff. Great views. Very nice Onsen. Breakfast was delicious but a little small.

- SHIMPEI (9/5): -
- SAKAGUCHI (10/5): -
- Edwyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tomas (3/5): Avoid restaurant KAJIKA at all cost - The hotel is good. The service is good. The staff is very good. However, I received a bad treatment at a restaurant that the hotel recommended: KAJIKA. They ruin the entire experience and give a bad image of Kurobe. Probably the worst service in all Japan. The hotel holds responsibility for recommending a place that does not provide good service to customers. Please, delete them from the recommendation list, they are not helping Kurobe, and Toyama as a whole.
- Nanda (10/5): Exceptional - Ryokan experience. Onsens in hotel and at kurunagi. Hot weather.
- Justinas (6/5): Pleasant - The room was old, not like new ones in the picture. Walls were peeling off. There is toilet in the room, but no shower. However, there is no common shower in the floor either - the only shower is in the onsen. We had tattoo's, so were told to visit only at night though, but there is no other way to shower. The futons on tatami for sleep were quite thin. Was definitely very disappointing for a high price.
- Lim (9/5): Superb - The staff was very helpful and polite. Upon arrival. I had tons of queries. He patiently guided me through it all. Fabulous customer service.
- Jin (9/5): Good romantic -
- Philippa (8/5): Very good - Lovely room with a view of the electric train and great view of the river valley from the outdoor Onsen. Didn’t dine there so can’t comment but their Obento box was very tasty. Shuttle service into the township was very convenient. Lovely friendly staff too.
- Kelly (8/5): Fantastic views of the river and the gorge train. - Free shuttle and friendly staff. Right near the gorge train, which is why we went there. Fabulous views of the river. Our room did not have a shower, as we had to use the onsen, which I didn't mind for one night but might not like it for more than one night.
- Calvin (6/5): Pleasant - The onsen in the hotel was relaxing, even had an outside section. Be aware that womens and mens are separated. Good View. Polite staff. The room was unnervingly labyrinthine, full of blind corners. The whole hotel had a spooky atmosphere but maybe just because of the older architecture style. Or I saw to many spooky movies :/
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing hotel with exceptional staff.
Wonderful facilities.
