It is only 3 minutes walk from the Beppu train station, yet once you stepped into the ryokan, you feel like you have entered a quiet and beautiful Japanese ryokan in the past The food was great, and the three private baths are wonderful. We would come back again.

• Paul (10/5): Very nice stay. Excellent place near the station - We had a wonderful stay here. The room was typical Japanese style, but it was very comfortable and clean. The sitting area in front of the garden was especially nice. We opted for a room with a private bath and enjoyed it very much. The baths here aren't really public, since you can lock the door when you go into them, but we much enjoyed the private outdoor bath anyway. Wifi worked well and breakfast was very good. The staff are incredibly friendly and speak great English. They also provided tea and coffee (somewhat rare in Japanese hotels) in the room. I would definitely stay again.

• Melanie (10/5): Lovely ryokan - Really lovely traditional Japanese inn, very close to the train station. Staff were lovely, room was really nice. Three private onsen for guests to use which were really nice. Traditional breakfast included which was enormous and delicious. Rooms look out onto a nice garden. Overall a great place, good value for the quality. Be aware there is an 11pm curfew, and check in is requested before 7pm ( we arrived at 8pm which we called to tell them and it was fine).
• hyomi.park (10/5): 가성비와 접근성이 뛰어난 료칸. - 일단 정말 대접받는 느낌 들도록 신경 써주신 료칸 서비스에 대단히 만족스러웠습니다. 객실을 잘 살펴보면 약간 낡은듯한곳이 조금 있었지만 사용하지 않는 부분이라 이해합니다. 객실내 세면대에 배수가 조금 더딘게 흠입니다. 리모컨이 부서져 있어 티비는 사용하지 못했습니다. 객실 조명을 키려면 문밖에서 스위치 조정을 해야해 불편했습니다. 다른부분은 만족스러웠고 이정도면 이가격에 충분히 좋은 보상을 받았다 생각합니다. 다음에 재방문 할 의향이 있습니다. 가이세키,조식 모두 훌륭했습니다. 번창하십시오.

• Verified traveler (8/5): 鄰近車站, 古色古香的溫泉旅館 - 旅館應該只有8間房間, 房間空間大, 窗外環境是酒店的小小花園, 但房間沒有浴室 洗澡要去旅館的溫泉, 一大兩小總共3個, 溫泉可鎖門, 因為酒店客人不會多, 一家人或自己用一個溫泉也可, 每次限時40分鐘, 時間足夠有餘 食物都OK, 環境不錯, 很寧靜(可能我今次入住時只有我一家四口和一對日本老夫婦), 員工有禮! 特別之處是晚上11點門禁. 要留意

• choi (10/5): 온천과 식사, 서비스가 좋은 호텔 - 너무 친절하시고 조식이 상당히 맛있었어요! 그리고 창문 밖으로 정원이 펼쳐지는데 너무 예뻤어요. 노천탕과 실내탕 두 곳 다 가봤는데 실내탕에 김이 많이 서려도 창문 열고 하니까 좋았어요. 노천탕은 물이 조금 식어서 별로였어요. 가는 길이 조금 어두웠던게 불편했어요. 또 방 온도 조절을 할 수 있는데 온도를 제일 높여도 조금 추웠어요. 1층이었는데 위층에서 쿵쿵거리는 소리가 가끔 들렸어요. 하지만 결과적으로는 온천과 식사, 방 모두 만족스러웠습니다. 유카타도 넘 예뻤어용!
• 983wallie (10/5): Perfect Ryokan experience - We had a lovely stay at the Kappo Ryokan Sennari, all staff were really friendly and spoke excellent English. We had a lovely room for the first night overlooking their beautiful garden, we were then moved for the next night to an even larger room. There are three natural hot springs baths which you can use privately throughout your stay, this was brilliant onsen experience but without having to go in a public setting. The breakfast was delicious and they even brought us out English tea just incase we were missing it. I would highly recommend this Ryokan for the traditional Japanese experience.
• mishibe (8/5): Japanese cuisine with local ingredients - You might try the Japanese cuisine with local ingredients (fish, meat, mushrooms, etc) for dinner. This area is well known to have various fishes such as Seki mackerel, Shiroshita flounder, blow fish) caught in the Bungo Channel. These can be beautifully presented in a form of sashimi (raw fish) or nabe for blow fish (cooked with various vegetables in boiling water) depending on the season of the products. For beef lovers shabu-shabu (dip a thin slice of beef into boiling water and season it in souce. You can ask the chef what dish is available. You can enjoy excellent Japanese cuisine at affordable expense.
• akacharlie19 (10/5): Great onsen! - This facility is really lovely - located just a 5 min walk from the JR Beppu station, it has a great location on a quiet street. Staff were really polite and friendly. The rooms are large and clean with a private loo and wash basin. There are 3 onsens - 1 outdoor and 2 indoor. During the day, the allocation is male and female however after dinner, you can use the onsens privately. The dinner and next day breakfast were both delicious. Wish we could have stayed a second night and will definitely book it if we ever visit Beppu again.
• mishibe (8/5): Cozy Japanese Inn - This trip (02/2015) was our fourth stay at this facility in last 2 years. It's a wonderful place to stay (good foods, good service, deep knowledge of hot springs in Beppu, convenient location for public transportation, etc). Its strength is three hot springs (one outdoor and two indoor), which can be locked for a family use without extra charge. (This is the case in most hotels and inns). The madam is very helpful to choose the right type of public hot springs like mud hot springs and weak acid hot springs like Yunohana no Sato). We definitely plan to go back again near future.
• 179mathildeg (10/5): Perfect - Would go back any day - We had a simply perfect stay at Kappo Ryokan Senari. Very close to the train station, easy to get to the local landmarks from the ryokan too. The ryokan itself is beautiful, our room was clean, and very comfortable. The baths were extremely nice and the service and food were simply... again... perfect. The two ladies who were there during our stay were some of the nicest people we have met in our trip. Thank you very much.
• junexoxo (8/5): Lovely stay - Located just 5 minutes from JR Beppu station, this ryokan is a very tranquil and lovely place to spend the night. The staff is polite in general, although the younger staff seemed a bit standoffish. The japanese style room we stayed in was very nice and spacious - there was a washroom basin on the inside of the room near the windows, and a private bathroom with a smaller basin near the entrance of the room. The lock of the room was a little tricky to manage but the staff came to help quickly. There are 2 indoor baths and 1 outdoor bath, just hang the occupied tag and you can use it by yourself. We didn't try the outdoor one as the winds were very strong that night but both of the indoor ones were very great!
• zakBKK (10/5): Comfort Clean Convenient - if you travel by JR train, this is a perfect Ryokan closed by the station. Only five minute walk in a quiet street corner. The host lady is very helpful and informative. This ryokan house is 80 years old but still in good condition. You can enjoy private onsen bath, and there is a loo in room. Breakfast was very nice and there are many restaurants in walking distance towards JR station. I enjoyed my stay at Sennari and would love to be back if visit Beppu again.
• JayK144 (10/5): Amazing peaceful ryokan experience! - We absolutely loved this place. The lady who runs this ryokan was so kind and eager to help, with tips for where to go and where to eat. We stayed for 2 nights in a beautiful tatami mat room, with sliding Japanese style doors opening onto a little closed terrace overlooking the amazing garden. We had our best nights' sleep in Japan on the futons! There are both indoor and outdoor private onsen that you can use during the early morning or evening. Everything in this ryokan - the rooms, reception area, dining area and baths are beautiful, perfectly clean and peaceful. There is wifi in the reception but not in the rooms. We didn't have dinner as we were on a budget but the breakfast (included) was delicious. We thoroughly recommend this idyllic little place if you are travelling to Beppu.
• azbestowa (8/5): Peaceful way to get over jetlag - For our 3 week long holiday in Japan,we chose ythis ryokan to be our first stop after arriving to fukuoka. Onsens lovely and private. Very relaxing. Great location. Fantastic Japanese breakfasts. The main downside was the cigarette smoke smelled in the lobby.
• aycl (8/5): onsen ryokan close to JR Beppu Station - an older Japanese style ryokan with 7 rooms, 2 indoor hotspring baths and one outdoor onsen. Idea location for a stop over onsen experience. The service was excellence as most other Japanese inns. Our room was comfortable with its own toilet. The room was facing the garden with the koi pond. The Japanese breakfast was nicely presented and tasty. The ryokan is about 7 minutes walk from the station and the town center. We did not opt for the dinner at the inn since there were many restaurants in the area.
• GGHolliday (6/5): Once is enough - The name of this ryokan meant it was specialized and famous for its cuisine. The baked creamy mushroom and special shrimp tempura were delicious, other dishes were average. Dining service was good though. There was only seven guest rooms and were party renovated. We stayed in Japanese-Western room with twin beds, tatami living room, private mini-size in-room onsen, armchairs on veranda overlooking the outdoor garden. There were three onsen bath near the reception area which guests could lock door for private use. The onsen was old, rusty with leaky shower hose. Water was stagnant in one of the smaller indoor onsen. Special landscape garden was in the middle of the site. Dining area had good view of this Japanese garden, but I was told not to go out to prevent mosquitoes entering indoor. Upon checking-in, the amenities such as hand soap, lotion and cleansing water bottles were empty. I asked for refill thinking it was missed during room service. However, the lady staff said the drops left in each bottle should be adequate and refused to refill them until I insisted. Appreciate the close walking distance from Beppu JR station and the friendliness of lady owner. Wi-fi available in lobby living room and dining area. Overall, it was a closy ryokan experience, but should be more enjoyable if the onsens were kept and maintained in a better shape and improved in cleanliness.
• Azziewuzzie (10/5): Best ryokan experience - Service was impeccable! I stayed in 6 different hotels during my 11-day vacation in Japan, and this was by far the best! The owner, Asano-san, was extremely friendly and very accommodating. I was sorry that I couldn't stay an additional night here because the rooms were full. Nevertheless, she allowed me to leave my luggage the next day until 930pm (I'd set out for a day trip to Miyazaki prefecture and due to unforeseen circumstances, made it back later than expected). Rooms were well-appointed and spacious. Having the private onsen to soak myself in at the end of a long day was a much-needed luxury! The kaiseki dinner (6,000 yen approximately) was also probably the best meal that I had in Japan; a fusion of eastern and Western Japanese cuisine. Thank you for making my stay here so wonderful! I would love to return here again. PS: Location very close to JR Beppu too! When you exit JR Beppu, you will see this hotel (I can't remember the name unfortunately, but it's a white building) with a hair salon on the first floor. Walk to the left side of the hotel, and then right into the street. Kappo Ryokan is a mere 100 metres from there. It would be good, however, if Wi-Fi connection could have been provided in the rooms too.
