Guest Reviews
- Elliot (6/5): Pleasant -
- Judy (6/5): A comfortable bed after a long flight - The location’s view up above the city; a secluded location
A very comfortable bed and it was clean. There were some extenuating circumstances around our booking with the loss of their family member, which makes it difficult to write a true review.
The room didn’t have any instructions on Wifi, a number of the advertised amenities were not there - TV, toiletries. The pool was unusable (green)
- Erika (9/5): Lovely stay with an absolutely amazing view of Kingston. The employees are very lovely and helpful, easy to communicate. - Beautiful location, lovely rooms and apartments. A little difficult to find/get to in the night if you’re driving yourself. Not a problem if you’re getting a taxi!
- Greg (10/5): Charismatic host with tranquil accommodation and breathtaking vista of Kingston - Charismatic host with tranquil accommodation and breathtaking vista of Kingston
- Lance (10/5): Personal, very quiet and stylish bed & breakfast, a great space & beautiful views. - I have stayed at the Tranquility many times and it was up to it's usual very good standard and
the swimming pool was fantastic. I visited her with my sister and we had a room each, both very comfortable. None
- Joost (10/5): You should visit here definitely - The warm welkom and the amazing property, takes you right back to the early ‘70 James Bond style
- Elwin (10/5): The name Tranquility Estate is fitting for this lodging. It is beautiful, peaceful with spectacular views over looking K -
- Claudia (10/5): Exceptional - The house and the views are amazing and you feel instantly at home.
The room was beautiful with own balcony.
- Oded (6/5): Pleasant - We reserved a room with an option to cancel.
The last day to cancel had elapsed.
Several days before the stay (the stay was reserved for one night), my wife felt ill. We asked to cancel free, but they refused.
They got full money, and we got nothing.
If some refund was made, ok, but nothing??!
Be carefull before booking thus hotel.
- Jan (10/5): We loved it! - The location, although not the easiest to get to, consists of an incredible view, great facilities and a wonderful hostess. The breakfasts are amazing. It is very difficult to find dinner places in the area.
- Elia (10/5): Perfect stay at the mountains but close to Kingston - Best accommodation in Jamaica! Beautiful view, beautiful house, perfect surroundings, welcoming and very helpful host… it has everything you need to feel at home (or actually, even better!) When I had to leave! :)
- Vasco (8/5): Very good -
- Tsadiyah (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed the visit and the host/owner of the house. The grounds were beautiful! - We had breakfast every morning on the balcony overlooking the view of the Kingston and the ocean. Our room was spacious. The bathroom was spacious. The balcony to the room was a nice a size. We were able to see the mountains. I didn't like having to disturb the owner each time to we wanted to leave the property.
- Joy (10/5): Tranquillity, certainly lived up to its name, amazing scenery with 7 star hospility! - The view was amazing, breakfast was awesome and the host was friendly, knowledgeable of Jamaican history. The artwork throughout the property reflected our heritage and made us felt at ease. Nothing!
- Qianli (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jarekdz (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing host, stunning view, great architecture! It was simply great.
- Rosemary (10/5): Lorna is a fabulous host! The property is phenomenal. A true bed & breakfast, bring your libations, there is a frid - High in the hills but a short trip to Kingston, you can stay away from the fray but get things happening in town. Not a thing.
- Bogdan (10/5): Exceptional - Superb view, excellent breakfast and an amazing host. I recommend the place
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steph (10/5): Tranquillity and dub - The host is a delight. It was like staying in a museum/gallery/resort with an exceptional view and a short walk to Dub Club.
- Jose (10/5): Exceptional -

- Ggsky (9/5): Loved it! - The hills and the host!
This is a weekend experience that I will go back.
Lorna has an amazing home, garden and even more interesting stories to share.
- Valérie (10/5): Exceptional - I want you "travelers from all around the world" to know that Lorna, the owner of the place, is absolutely exceptional for the way she handled my special requests and particularly my pick-up/drop-off, my food & drinks requests. she is professional, courteous, friendly, attentive, and engaging.
she is such an exemplary & gracious host. She makes you feel so welcome, we almost already feel at home and soon in paradise at the same time. Her knowledge of Kingston and her remarkable solving request efficiency are rare indeed nowadays.
She is a rich source of balanced information that we usually rarely glean while staying in a classic hotel.
I just thought you should all know that this is a real asset to her business. Anyone who treats customers with so much kindness and attention is a rare jewel, and truly gives you an edge over her competition.
Lorna Nelson (and Bill Samuels !) are definitely part of the reason we will (without a shadow of doubt) looking forward to stay with them again in the future. Moreover, I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay at Tranquility Estate to any lawyer of our law firm or relatives.
We are already llooking forward to stay among such an amazing oasis of calm and tranquility with spectacular views and wonderful hosts.
Regards,
Valérie T.
- Maretll (7/5): Very special, extremely tranquil! - The view is impressive, right from your balcony, over to the mountains, and down to Kingston.
The furniture in the rooms is "antique" and stylish.
The whole place is charming and very tranquil indeed! One is pretty much confined to the room, as there's little else to do in the immediate surroundings.
Make sure you bring a good book (however there are also books in the rooms and common areas!).
The lack of a bar, or the possibility to have a bite to eat on the premises, is a bit painful.
- Samer (9/5): Superb -
- Adrienn (10/5): Exceptional - Breathtaking view from the balcony, the entire house is beautiful. We met Lorna the owner, she was super kind and helpful. We decided to check out early, and she even packed our breakfast for the road. Great spot to spend the night if you are heading up to the Blue Mountains.
- Donavan (10/5): fabulous - Lorna is an impeccable host, kind and enjoyable to communicate with. Her guest house is beautifully appointed, with spectacular views and thoughtfully curated. Breakfast was amazing and served on the veranda with a breathtaking view of the hills overlooking Kingston. She went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and we look forward to staying again!
- Cassandra (10/5): Lovely stay - brilliant!! - Everything
- Bernd (10/5): excellent. - great location, excellent breakfast, very pleasant host. The road leading from B1 to the house requires good driving skills, especially when dark and/ or rainy.
- Annelies (9/5): Amazing host, great views ! - The owner !! Ms Nelson is sooo nice and welcoming ! She takes care to spend time with all her guests individually, so you feel like you are visiting a distant aunt you never met :)
Breakfast is great. Try the ackee and saltfish ! Pool was out of service when we were there.
I book this place to visit Kingston, but it is far up a hill and takes lots of time (and attention ;) ) to get to the city. For food, you also have to drive half an hour down. Its a great place to unwind and watch the views, but would not use it again as a base to explore kingston :)
- Ret81 (9/5): Beautiful views, wonderful host! - Beautiful views of Kingston and the mountains - and a calm and peaceful place to stay. Our host was very gracious and helpful and we had the best breakfast of our trip - ackee and saltfish and fabulous local fruit served with stunning views and a cool breeze. It would have been great to have some coffee in the room to enjoy on our balcony.
- Saffron (10/5): Exceptional - Lorna was an exemplary host. She made me feel so welcome and was very accommodating as I alerted her to my late arrival time. The food was absolutely delicious, made with fresh ingredients grown on the premises. I was a single traveller and I felt very safe with Lorna! I'd go again just to continue our conversations.
- Marshall (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous host in a fantastic location. A large country house overlooking Kingston from the aptly Ned Skyline ridge. Lorna is a superb cook serving the highest quality Jamaican dishes with exotic fruits and, of course, the world's best coffee from just up the Blue Mountains. She is also a rich source of balanced information that you will rarely glean while staying in a hotel or Air B&B .
You will need a car and be a competent, confident driver to get up the steep hills but it is genuinely worth it.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed in Jamaica for 10 days and Tranquility Estate was one of 4 accommodations, but by far most the best one. Our Suite was spacious and had a great aura, from the balcony we had an astonishing view on the Blue Mountains and Kingston. The quality of breakfast was excellent, with fresh fruits from the Garden and local markets. Our host Lorna is so lovely and made that we felt like at home and in paradise at the same time. We can't describe in words, how good we felt at Tranquility Estate. Clearly nothing.
- Tracy (10/5): If you want to enjoy Kingston, with superb views & wonderful host this is the place. - The host Lorna incredible lady, so friendly, welcoming & informative. Lorna’s beautiful home, incredible and beautiful. The dogs are beautiful & friendly, loved them. there was nothing not to like, we enjoyed our stay sooo much.
- Miranda (8/5): Stunning location, Lorna is a wonderful host, lucky to live in such a beautiful place. - Excellent breakfast, delicious locally grown fruit and coffee
- Xiaobin (10/5): I will come back and stay longer. - I like the host who is very kind and full of wisdom. the property is a great expression of the host personality - calm and elegant. The view looking down Kingston was fantastic. and the sunrise looked from the balcony was breathtaking. can’t think of any
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Akhil (10/5): Best - The View From bedroom, get up early to watch the fantastic sunrise
- James (10/5): Exceptional - An amazing Oasis of calm and tranquility with spectacular views and a wonderful host.
- Georgeta (8/5): Very good -
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional - Tranquility is a hidden gem in the foothills above Kingston. I stayed just one night to be relatively close to airport. (Tranquility is 1/2 hour from airport. Normally, I am more than two hours away.) The hostess, Lorna, is delightful. She is welcoming but respectful of your privacy. She offered a complementary beverage and snack shortly after arrival. I watched the sunset over Kingston. I enjoyed scenery from my personal balcony. She made sure I had a cup of coffee in the morning before heading to the airport! I will definitely stay at Tranquility again.
- Antje (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stéphane (10/5): Exceptional - Thanks you Lorna to share your very confortable house ! and for beeing such a great host !
Up the hill, with an incredible view on Kingston and away from the tumult; Tranquility Estate is the perfect place to stay during a work trip in Kingston.
Car needed.
- Prudence (8/5): If you want to escape from everything and enjoy nature at its finest, this is the place for you. - The view was excellent!!! Woke up among the clouds one morning. The commute to and from the city was precarious.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Our host was outstanding and we can recommend to stay with tranquility estate!
