Guest Reviews
- Brown (8/5): - Proximity to the venue
- THOMAS (8/5): - meals were very good and good value. T he accomodation was ideal the only thing we didnt like was the bed it was very uncomfortable and very hard.
- Rob (8/5): Quite reasonable. - Lovely location.
Nice room.
Plenty of parking. Kitchen closed at 8pm - I arrived at 8:15.
Breakfast didn't start until 8am, I left at 7am.
- Fiona (7/5): Great Food - Good food far better than expected The bed was not very comfortable
- Brown (8/5): -
- Hayley (7/5): Lovely village pub with good clean rooms nice comfy bed - Great location and really lovely pub, very nicely designed with lovely furniture and pretty lights. Breakfast was good. The rooms are good and clean, bed really comfortable, could do with adding more shelving in bathroom and maybe updating sockets to include usb ports, but overall nice comfortable stay in a lovely pub in a great location, definitely stay again.
- John (8/5): -
- Derek (8/5): Warm welcome from the staff, comfortable room and parking very close to our accommodation. - Delicious breakfast.
Would have preferred a few more choices on the menu of traditional meals rather than spicy choices.
Very comfy bed and warm room . Entrance to dining area difficult to negotiate in a wheelchair due to uneven surfaces . However staff were helpful when we did enter .
- Madeline (10/5): Charming inn in a beautiful part of the country. - The staff were very friendly. The restaurant offered a very charming atmosphere. They had a separate vegan/ vegetarian menu which was great for myself as a vegan.
The inn is situated in a lovely peaceful village with beautiful surroundings. They had sufficient breakfast options but some fruit might have been nice.
- Alex (9/5): -
- Annemieke (6/5): Kan beter, ligt niet aan personeel. - Het avond eten Geen raam.
- JR (9/5): -
- Christine (10/5): Perfect in every way - Breakfast was perfect the lady serving was exceptionally nice this is the second time we have stayed there and we will definitely stay again Nothing
- Svyatoslav (Slava) (5/5): Ok as the second or even third option for staying over a night. - Food is amazing. Location is great. Friendly staff. Musty smell in the rooms, I stayed in more than one room. Beds could do with being replaced as did not find them comfortable and I do travel alot for work. Needs a bit more thorough cleaning especially shower room. Stayed here since 2019 and can see how the quality of the rooms declined unfortunately. Would definitely go there for a meal, but would stay elsewhere in the future.
- Natalie (10/5): Great stay, the staff were very nice and helpful. The menu choices were very good, with a vegan and children menu along - Quiet private accommodation with individual entrance. Clean and modern uncluttered space, on the whole thoughtfully designed. The price per person per night which included a really hearty breakfast was very reasonable. There were four of us staying in two rooms for two nights and both rooms were very clean. Tea and coffee were available and extra was made available on request. There was also wifi, TV and a hairdryer in each room. The breakfast choice of cereal and a traditional cooked breakfast was good for big appetites and the cooked breakfast was made with good quality ingredients. Would have liked something to hang wet towels on/over on back of bathroom door or above radiator on entrance wall in bedroom. TV was uncomfortable to watch due to small screen size and placement on right hand side of bed. Some fruit and yogurt at breakfast would have given a lighter option for smaller appetites.
- Alec (10/5): Above expectations - Evening meal was excellent. The room had every essential that a traveller would want, ie good bathroom with plenty of hot water, clean room, comfy bed and heating radiators that work. The simple things are all that matter in reality. Only the start time for breakfast. Many people who work quite often start the day early. An 8:00 start for breakfast is not good for me but if that isn't a problem for you, The Village Inn is perfect.
- MikeBrockhurst (8/5): - Good job, fabulous breakfast. Nothing was not to like.
- nelson (10/5): - Location, staff, accommodation and the food was was excellent .
- James (10/5): - Room was lovely. Hotel bar and food was fabulous. Breakfast very good The bed was a bit small
- Sam (9/5): -
- Gail (5/5): Disappointed - Clean and on the level Very cold on arrival . Next morning I turned on radiator taps!
When I mentioned it at breakfast was told they didn’t turn it on because guests liked cold rooms. I said it should have been warm and guests had option of turning it off or opening a window.
- Peter (7/5): Provided a good service when other more tourist hotels were still closed for winter. - Excellent location near A19 and N Yorks Moors but in a peaceful village setting with large village green, stream with ducks, daffodils etc.
Food excellent. Staff friendly. Well frequented by locals. Beds, towels etc are basic but adequate.
No real ale.
- Hayley (10/5): Great little place! - The rooms were lovely, and all very clean. No complaints really. If I had to say something it would be that the TV was very small!
- Sarah (10/5): Excellent! - Easy, friendly, clean, quiet, excellent breakfast and service, value for money N/a
- Rohit (10/5): -
- Alison (7/5): -
- Alex (9/5): -
- Donald (9/5): Generally good, would stay there again - Excellent staff and food. Little niggles. Room cold on arrival, soon warmed when radiator turned on. No shelf in shower for shampoo etc. Perhaps could have provided shampoo and shower gel in shower. Toilet seat child size, not adult.
All minor niggles but otherwise happy to stay there again Funny drain noises at various times.
- Cree (10/5): - Yes fantastic venue staff excellent xtra day cost double though other wise would have rated 10 out of 10. Extra day rate was ridiculous
- Suzie (8/5): - Perfectly comfortable and great value x Nothing
- Neale (8/5): -
- Tracey (5/5): Glad I was only staying 2 nights as it was a dull depressing room - Convenient &clean It was like stopping in a garage in a car park, no outlook with no windows except a sky light
- Graham (5/5): Disappointing - Good value evening meals. Good breakfast. Somewhere to store my bike overnight. Despite the bame ,this is a 1970s budget motel, with accommodation in chalets in the car park and no bar for drinks, just a dining area and function room. I booked a room with a bath but was moved to a smaller room with a very small bathroom and shower. When I questioned this I was told that the switch had been made by Booking.com. Thinking this sounded unlikely,
i contacted the company who told me this was impossible as they don't have access to the hotel's complete rooms plan. Basically, I had been downgraded to fit a family in, without any apology.
- Michael (10/5): - Great location, clean, comfortable and fantastic food menu. Nothing
- BAULING (9/5): - Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room comfortable, location good and breakfast good. Couldn't ask for more.
- Michele (9/5): Excellent comfortable and excellent value - Easy check in on arrival ,very friendly staff and good service had a beautiful meal in the restaurant and absolutely fantastic food best lasagne ever tasted me and hubby were absolutely stuffed from the food. Again excellent service
We stayed 1night which also included breakfast next morning that was excellent too will definitely recommend a stay and we will definitely visit again room was perfect. Just what we required for our stay 😊 All ok
- Pritpal (10/5): Long weekend stay - Room was clean and the staff were lovely. At breakfast, they checked that all was ok and if we needed anything, and reminded us they were closed on Sunday evening in case we needed anything .We had the roast on Sunday lunch and it was amazing
Children can't wait to come back to stay again.
- Mark (10/5): - Friendly staff, comfortable room. Great breakfast
- Sarah (7/5): - Room spacious and clean . Breakfast was ok bacon a bit hard but the rest ok. Very quiet resturant which was abit expensive for portion size Not much atmesphire
- Catherine (8/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - Room was clean and spacious with very comfy beds, great parking and a nice location. Breakfast was excellent
- Graham (8/5): Location was ideal for my purpose;comfortable; - Breakfast and dinner very good
Location was opposite village green and quiet
Well placed for interesting places and Croft race circuit Shower cubical beginning to need replacement
Tile grouting and shower tray sealant
- Michael (8/5): Good value for money clean and comfortable motel on attractive village. - Looks new. American style motel built behind traditional pub on the village green. Very attractive location. Friendly and efficient staff. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Heating is adjusted by altering valve on central heating radiator. Ample off street parking in front of motel units Only minor criticism was the dirty string controlling the bathroom light. Should be converted to external light switch.
- SHIRLEY (10/5): -
- Angela (9/5): -
- Hannah (9/5): -
- Sheila (9/5): Breakfast at the great base set me up well to explore towns and villages I had not visited before. - Until I arrived I had no idea what the accommodation was like. I had not seen photographs. Breakfasts were consistently excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. Black-out blinds over the windows to stop light entering the room above and at the sides of the curtains.
- Nora lynn (8/5): Overall good stay - Breakfast very good did not have dinner room good Stayed in room 7 bed comfortable but very creepy
- Nicky (10/5): - Super friendly, good food, lovely stay
- VALERIE (8/5): - Pub food & drink excellent. Staff very welcoming & friendly. Accommodation a little tired. One bed rather wonky and shower temperature adjustment broken. All very clean though.
- James (10/5): Definitely worth a stay for the price excellent staff - Great little place to stop for the price was what we needed and included breakfast
- Richard (7/5): Good base for attending a wedding - Good food Smalll bathroom
- Tanner (10/5): -
- Day (8/5): - Location and welcome Price dropped after paying in advance
- Murray (10/5): -
- Jess (8/5): -
- Anthony (7/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): Excellent would recommend - Own front door so could come and go. Booked in for dinner at night excellent meal and breakfast in the morning was lovely. Could have done with a plug at side of the bed but we managed.
- Sarqh (10/5): - We had the best time ever when me and my bestie was early for food the staff still let us come and sit. The room was so nice and the breakfast was so lovely we where greeted with a smile and lots of chat would definitely choose the village inn again 😀 thank-you 😀😀 Nothing to dislike
- Charlie (7/5): -
- Peter (4/5): Could do better - Bar food was excellent Room was cold on arrival. Beds very uncomfortable. Did not have breakfast as walk was too far for us.
- Clair (10/5): Lovely find - Excellent stay and food was exceptional Nothing
- Samantha (6/5): Fair, would not return - Food just ok. Bar closed at 10. Black mold in shower. Very basic.
- Jade.Smity85 (9/5): Christmassy - The village inn was a lovely place, their was 7 adults and 4 kids we were going to polar express and here was perfect. Na
- Ken (1/5): We would like a full refund as we did not stay the night as the bathroom was mouldy - We did not stay the night as there was mould on the bathroom ceiling and around the shower and bath
Not good especially with our 5 year old child!
- michael (10/5): Lovely staff, lovely food and a pleasant visit - I have stopped here with work for the last ten years for a few reasons; parking is never an issue, it’s in a very quiet village, the food is and has always been exceptional. This is not an issue for me as I don’t watch tv however maybe a bigger tv for some people would question this
- Ronald (6/5): - Very nice breakfast, freshly cooked. Went to make a cup of tea and the mug which was upside-down stuck to the table woodwork. The heating had not been turned on for our arrival. It was cold but once we had turned the thermostats up on the radiators it soon warmed up.
There was dust on the bedside lamp bases. Centre light had about a dozen dead fly in it.
- Mark (10/5): -
- Lesley (7/5): Perfectly adequate basic accommodation. - The room was adequate for my needs. The breakfast was very good, and the cook/chef knows how to make scrambled eggs which was a bonus. The staff I dealt with were helpful. I gave feedback to the staff about my concerns, and they appeared to be genuinely glad I had raised the issues, and there was nothing that would stop me staying again. The price was high enough.
- Robert (8/5): Ok for an overnight stay if your in the area - I have used this hotel a number of times over the years, it's still very nice but I feel the breakfast is not valve for money.
- Courtney (10/5): 2 adults 2 children stayed for polar express. Will return. - Staff were friendly, our room was lovely everything we needed, food was delicious & reasonably priced. Nothing.
- Bev (8/5): Lovely time celebrating with my family! - The evening meal was amazing and the staff were exceptional! Nothing was too much trouble! Room was cold on arrival and took some time to warm up. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast - bacon was rock hard! Rest was good.
- Alison (6/5): Disappointing and not the standard it used to be on previous stays several years ago. - Saturday evening food was very good but that wasn’t part of the booking.
Lady on Monday morning breakfast was lovely, friendly and helpful. Toilet seat possibly broken. Was certainly not easy to sit on.
Found kit Kat wrappers under chair in bedroom which made me question if the room had been cleaned properly.
Lady in breakfast Sunday morning was inflexible, pedantic and unhelpful.
- jacky (10/5): lovely stay - Lovely stay at the Village Inn. Staff were helpful and friendly. Good choices on menu and the specials were really good as were the prices. Just outside if Northallerton and the A19 road. Easy access to the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.
- Moss (8/5): -
- Gary (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Comfortable stay & friendly staff - Flexible and comfortable room - suited us well as cycle tourers. (We booked a family room). Friendly and helpful staff The breakfast options were limited if you didn’t wish a cooked breakfast.
- Patricia (4/5): Overall pleasant, staff EXCELLENT but deficiencies in other areas - food and room. - Breakfast excellent. Evening meals left a LOT plus another LOT to be desired.
- Simon (9/5): -
- Zhenya (10/5): -
- Edgar (9/5): 11 dagen -
- Maia (8/5): -
- Parker (10/5): Brilliant - Everyone and welcoming All great
- Swan (8/5): -
- Bridgejon (8/5): Nice village location with great staff - Great breakfast good quality produce, the staff were very friendly. We also had food which is reasonably priced and well cooked good for eating at. Room was clean its in a courtyard to the rear of the establishment so quiet for sleeping. The Village inn is a resteranut and function room, the resteraunt does have a bar but due to being a dining room it lacked the anbience of a pub type bar. I would still return as its a great location for getting into Northallerton which has pubs galore.
- Ian (7/5): Handy cheap sleepover after a mad day in Northallerton, a little out of town but cheap enough... - checking in was the simplest i've ever had! we went to town and didnt eat evening meal here, and we missed brekky, sadly, as we had to leave at 6.30am on a Sunday, nothing was offered as a substitute but was included in the payment? room was basic but had all we needed, tv kettle etc, very clean. the fact that we couldnt have brekky which was included but we needed to leave at 6.30am , no refund or offer of carry out instead.... a small butty box would of sufficed....? The single beds were a bit hostel like but we slept...

- Julie (8/5): -
- Yvonne (8/5): Great for short stays. Lovely village location. - Great breakfast. Staff are friendly and ensure any needs are met. Grout in shower is ready for replacement.
- Patrick (8/5): -
- Kaggy Sue (5/5): Food great, bed awful - Food amazing, lovely dinner and breakfast. Staff lovely. Rooms clean and warm. Only issue was beds Bed was dire in triple room . Room 4.
The single was really unusable but had to use it as there were 3 of us. Was hard and uncomfortable but was also broken and creaked, squeaked and banged all night. Kept all 3 of us awake all night . Not a wink of sleep all night. Extremely disappointed as we had a long drive the next day.
Hotel must look to address this as room should not have been sold like this.
- Barbara (5/5): If you want average, here it is - The evening meal was delicious. You need to pre book.
The location was ideal for us
The shower was hot and powerful.
Did sleep well. Very basic room and a very basic welcome on arrival. There are NO toiletries in the room, offering you a few of you go back to the bar. The room is basic but clean enough. I was initially cold but the heating did come on once you adjusted the radiator. Mattress was soft.
The customer service could do with some work.
- SMA - Newcastle upon Tyne (10/5): Lovely, chalet style rooms beside pub. Friendly staff and amazing food. - Lovely, chalet style rooms beside pub. Friendly staff and amazing food.
- Whittaker (10/5): - Staff brilliant, no problem with room
Fantastic breakfast. Plenty of parking space On my stay there was a wedding in the venue, I expected been kept awake with music and guests, never heard a thing and I was in room 2. Excellent service and value for money. Will be returning at some point in the future. Nothing, everything was fine.
- Clive (7/5): Reasonable - Lunch and breakfast were very good TV monitor was too small
