- Doug (8/5): - A beautifully located accommodation in lovely wooden traditional rooms surrounded by lovely gardens and on a river. It is a long distance (6kms) from the temples and attractions therefore you will need transport arrangements. Likewise there is no restaurant on site so you will need to travel to town to eat (there is very limited options to have on site). The mattress is next level hard and the room is simple but clean. A great option if you want to be out of town and enjoy a lovely environment.
- douglascF4540WO (8/5): A beautiful place but far from the main sites. - What a gorgeous location to be in. The timber stilted rooms are beautifully set amongst a delightful garden on the banks of the river. It’s a delight to be there except there is no one else there! There is also no shops and the location is several kilometres from the main temples and attractions. If you stay here you will need transport and will need to bring food & drinks as there is a very limited menu available on request ( you might want to bring your own bed lamp too). There is no restaurant. Others have mentioned how hard the mattresses are. Mine was next level hard. This is the kind of place locals from
Bangkok would come to to escape the city hustle and bustle ( but maybe be they bring their own mattress and pillows). The owner is lovely. She speaks very little English so it’s a good place to get your Thai going. Overall a wonderful place but generally for someone wanting just to visit the temples it’s probably too inconvenient. Nevertheless if you want a beautiful quiet place with monastic bedding then this could be for you.
- Geordie (8/5): Very good -
- Thorsten (8/5): Very good -
- Galbraith (10/5): Relaxing evenings by the river - Beautiful, peaceful location
Wonderful staff, good food A bit far from town
- Dianne (5/5): Passable - Interesting architecture, garden and site. Very isolated. Only good for people with their own transport. Room was tatty. Very expensive.
- Hans_Hub (8/5): Charming retreat with lovely grounds but limited dining options - Ayodhara Village is a delightful three-star resort with a truly charming atmosphere. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained, with a whimsical layout that invites guests to explore. Trees, bushes, and cozy little nooks are spread throughout the property, creating plenty of peaceful spots to sit back and relax, especially by the river.
The accommodations consist of about 12 simple wooden cabins, each equipped with air conditioning, which was a relief in the warm weather. The rooms themselves were basic but comfortable. One thing to note is that the bathrooms could use a bit of updating; they’re functional but definitely show signs of wear.
The staff was a real highlight of our stay - very friendly and genuinely helpful. Since the property doesn’t have a true restaurant (just a vending machine with instant noodles), we ordered through Grab. The hotel team went above and beyond to help set up and serve the food we had delivered, making it feel like a personalized dining experience.
If you’re looking for a tranquil, picturesque setting and don’t mind limited on-site dining, Ayodhara Village is a wonderful place to stay.
- Julio (8/5): - It is a lovely property.
- Sydney (5/5): This place has potential but management needs to improve the room cleanliness and provide internet. - They said that breakfast was not included. The location was nice and outside area was beautiful. Unfortunately, the balcony did not have a fan which made it very hot to sit outside. The room was nice and big but there was no sofa or chairs and no bedside table. There was no internet in the room. The bathroom was not clean - there were stains on the edges of the floor and wall. The glass cups in the bathroom were dirty and stained. The photos showed a flat screen TV but our room had an old box TV. The bed was uncomfortable. Lighting inside the room was not great.

- Epoy2000 (10/5): Beautiful ancient Thai freestanding villa-et, Located adjacent to the river with only the sounds of nature. - Ancient wood “villa” just like in the Ancient City bkk upgraded with standard hotel amenities such as king bed, fan, AC, TV, fridge, and a roomy restroom.
Outside on the wrap around deck are chairs and table to enjoy a shady outside time.
Hinged folding double doors open up 2 meters bringing in the outside but without a screen you can choose to open any of the screened shuttered windows which do provide reasonable mosquito barrier.
PRIOR Complaints I’ve read in reviews:
Cracks in floors, some boards move when walking….. LOOK Here.. these are structures built long time ago, like maybe 100’s of years. You’re in Thailand, please, these are ancient homes along the river, raised a meter, ooh I can see a sliver of light below floor. DISREGARD ANY NEGATIVE REVIEW if you want an ancient nature experience, if not go to days inn (I live days inn BTW)
- john (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay and the staff made us feel at home.
- michael (10/5): - The cottages along the river were built in traditional Thai stye. Wood floors and exposed beams give it an authentic feel. Staff was helpful and views of river added to experience.
It is a distance from the main park, but a straightforward 10 minute taxi ride to most ruins.
- Jason (10/5): - Truly hospitable and authentic Thai experience. We had a great visit. Than you!
- Kamran (10/5): - I had a fantastic stay at Ayodhara Village. The room was great, spacious, and clean. The host, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The location was perfect, especially for those with a car. Highly recommended!
- E7327GAmatthewr (10/5): Beautiful place to stay! - I can't say enough good about this place. The village is made up of traditional Thai homes, which are the rooms you stay in. The grounds are impeccably kept, and are absolutely beautiful. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.
Although too far to walk to, Ayuthaya and the temple ruins are a quick 10-15 minute drive away. Everything to see is very historic and a really great time to check it all out.
I will definitely be back for another stay!
- Susan (8/5): - Wonderful grounds and very friendly and accommodating people. We arrived in the midst of a major flood that affected the whole town, but they arranged a small boat to take us there and out to the main road whenever we wanted. OnLy drawback was the bed which is a traditional hard mattress, but with extra pillows it was fine.
- Arno (10/5): Experience Thailand - Don't look any further - For us it was a perfect , unique & authentic experience
- Lori (8/5): - Beautiful secluded property along a river, peaceful and quiet. Lots of sounds of nature at night. A genuine Thai structured home, truly a unique experience. The bed was as hard as the floor however. A pillow top mattress cover that is worn out and tired, does little to alleviate.
- Skhan_1234567 (8/5): Ayodha tour. - Very interesting and beautifull place.specially hilly area.best time is november for tour.natural beauty is amazingly good.noon time is little hit but night is really cool.ayodha falls is very beautifull.village is also very beautifull.
- simontrant (6/5): A good experience at a most reasonable price - Ayodhara Village consists of a collection of stilt houses with a duck pond and by the river; rather quaint. It is set in a large garden with a big open space and lots of room for children to ride their bikes
A warm welcome and big rooms, clean, a little dated but the hardest beds in Thailand. However we had a surprisingly good night's sleep and it was quiet although punctuated by the occasional calling of a large gecko somewhere in the room.
An interesting breakfast of poached eggs, frankfurters, toasted ham sandwiches, green salad and water melon. Good coffee out of a machine which also dispensed hot chocolate liberally; free ice lollies as well.
We borrowed bicycles and rode to the 'The Krall' only 5 or 10 minutes away. The elephants were fascinating and appeared to be very well cared for and there were plenty of them. Big ones with tusks, lots of mothers and plenty of babies of various sizes. We sat by the river bank as one by one they came down to bathe, sometime with a baby in tow (one had to stand on his hind legs when in the deeper water) and one with a blind friend.
The hotel is some way out and it is essential to have a car as there is no food other than breakfast. I think it would be helpful to speak Thai but, all in all, a good experience at a most reasonable price.
Decisamente in disuso .
- Nattapot (10/5): A good place to stay - Friendly staff. Clean room. Water in shower runs so slow
- imtoni_ (6/5): Nice view and quiet - The resort has only 13 rooms, that is so quiet and nice. A bit far from town around 10-15 minutes drive to town.
The room is a bit old and bed is hard.
Amenities in rooms has only shower gel and shampoo.
Breakfast is so so, a dish with 2 fried egg, 2 sausage, 1 bread and a small plate of fruit.
One of the best thing here is making merit to monk on the river. It is a must try here.
- lukeyp86 (6/5): You need a car and to speak some Thai - The hotel is far from the town, so you need a car or motorbike for sure. The staff don't speak great English so you need a little Thai to get by. The setting and set up of the hotel and grounds is nice. Right by the river, wooden structures, lovely sunset, lots of reading areas. It's a one night stay kind of place, for me. The food at the restaurant is average at best, but the massage I had was honestly one of the best I've ever had. I suppose that's more down to the individual masseuse than the hotel though. My only real major complaint was that the bed was honestly the hardest bed I have ever slept on, it was not a pleasant nights sleep at all. If you get a good deal (like we did) at a travel fair or a groupon deal then it's ok for one night, but there's probably better hotels for the money than this one.
- salmand_12 (2/5): Not for tourists - Just got back from our stay at Ayodhara Village and unfortunately it has to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at in Thailand! For the price their is not a single thing I could think of hat would make it worth it.
The hotel is far away from the main city and none of the local tuk tuk drivers know where it is and the only means of reaching the city from the hotel is by a motorcycle or rent a car for 200 baht/h which is quite steep. If you dont speak thai theirs no chance of getting anything due to none of the 3 people working in the hotel speaking english. Upon asking the receptionist if their is anything to do at the hotel, she laughed and said theirs nothing other than giving monks food for 70 baht per person at 6 in the morning or ride bikes for free in thai of course (no English spoken what so ever). After an hour or two of searching the tv for an english channel and 450 channels later we found 1, a music channel which is what kept us sane after 2 nights and 3 days. The tv was not working so we decided to go for a bike ride to our astonishment the 6 ancient bikes all had flat tires and after 20 minutes we where told that the air person wouldnt be their till the next day. So we decided to eat dinner at the hotel and where told that the kitchen was closed for the day and we would not be able to get dinner. The hotel literally ruined our trip.
A few more of our complaints consisted of:
-The breakfast is either thai or american, thai consists of a horrible cup of coffee, and boiled rice and pork. The american consists of an over poached egg, 2 pieces of toast and 2 hot dogs and another bitter cup of coffee. We tried thai the first day and american the second and didnt like either.
-The bed sheets never got changed, just refolded (their was a stain on the sheets)
-One of the towels had blue spots on it, which also never got changed just refolded as the blue spots where there the second day on one of the towels.
-The bed is a box spring with a small pad on it, amazingly uncomfortable.
-Never got to give monks food due to them just happen to not be coming the day we wanted to do it.
-Room only comes with a tv, towes, bed. Shampoo and body wash are in a green and pink bottle which are not labeled so you are left to guessing which one is which. The cups in the bathroom where not covered and bugs where all around them.
The list could go on and on but overall this hotel is not worth the price what so ever, ive stayed at hostels and have had a much better stay for a fraction of the price. In my opinion the slogan the hotel goes by "Ayodhara Village | Where time goes by slower" couldnt be any more accurate as their is nothing to do at the hotel and time literally stays still as you look for something to do. Travelers are better off staying at another hotel.
- BDAHiFlyer (4/5): Not A Pleasant Stay - A lovely setting on a river, but the property reminded us of boy scout camp, with spread out log cabins. There was only one reception person and one groundskeeper on the property. On the way to our cabin, my wife and I were stung by a bee/hornet/wasp with hurt like crazy. The receptionist did bring some Tiger Balm, which helped, but my wife didn't sleep well as she is allergic to stings. The layout of the cabin we were in was not set up for travelers. Rustic, but very, very basic. Wouldn't recommend staying here.
- gcmenguy (2/5): We booked, and just cancelled when we arrived - We had booked for today's night, we arrived at 12, there was nobody there, just the receptionist and 2 cleaning people, it just looked like a fantom hotel. I asked to see the room, and then we just ran away paying half of the price that we should have paid for the night!
This hotel is ranked 4 stars, it is not even worth 2, something has to be done, prices are just outrageous compared to the value.
- bulldogtwo (4/5): Can't wait to get out of here - And we just checked in. Found out we got upgraded to the "honeymoon suite." I would never do that to my wife. AC not working. when I turned the fan on the lights went out. The guy that brought us in saw this and, well obviously doesn't think anything needs to be done about a short in the lighting. The shower sink was, is, nasty, toothpaste smeared on the faucet and handle. AC comes on just enough to make the room bearable then hot and humid again. Took me 30 minutes to get on line as the signal is so weak, and we're fairly close to the main office.
On the plus side, yes, nice country setting, grounds appear to be decent but I am afraid to look too close as I am to my room. Recepetion, needs a lesson on "friendliness." I think I may have gotten one smile, or was that a you'll be sorry smile.
Sad thing is this place has soooo much potential. Checking with Asiarooms now to get outta here, but may have to spend one night. They could accomdate better to help you get to town. Pretty isolated out here, again, which is fine but provide some transpo to get to and from. What they do is provide a taxi but you are timed? 2-3 hours and then back again. Sorry, doesn't work.
If this is the honeymoon suite, wow, whats the rest of the place look like.
- ArlenneP_12 (8/5): Simple but charming Thai teak-wooden huts by the river - Ayodhara Village is in a charming and quiet location right on the river and about a ten-minute drive from Ayutthaya and the historic park. It's in the countryside, so going around is not as straightforward as if you were in town. You sleep in typical teak-wooden huts that are extremely basic and simple but clean. We were here for only one night in December and we really enjoyed our stay. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful and overall, it looked like a very well-maintained place. In the morning we had a very good breakfast on our porch. I thought the food was just fine, but what I really enjoyed was the peaceful garden around us. If you're looking for a more sustainable accommodation option, this is a good place to keep in mind.
- jsvarre (10/5): We loved it - After a few days in bustling Bangkok we decided to look for a hotel outside the city center in Ayutthaya. We never regretted that decision. The place consists of several nice huts in traditional Thai style. The huts are, as far as I know, all equipped with air con. We chose the cheapest huts, but there was plenty room for two and the location by the river bank was nothing short of amazing.
The staff was VERY friendly and helpful and we were really exceptionally welcomed (even for Thailand). The place is well maintained and you see gardeners grooming the nice, lush surroundings all day long.
The downsides are: You can use the villages bicycles for free, but they are really not fit for people taller than 150 cm. Even the Thais had problems using the bikes. And since you are a few kilometers from the city, you have to rely on taxis or tuc tucs (or rent a bike, car or motorcycle in Ayutthaya). The place is in no way dirty, but I would never the less rather have the last few cobwebs in the corner removed than have my towel folded like an elephant.
We can recommend a boat trip on the river, which the staff arranged for us at a reasonable price.
- Mambotango123 (10/5): warmth and joy - I had a very pleasant stay at Ayodhara. A group of beautiful Thai-style houses situated by the river and surrounded by green rice fields. A perfect place for couples, families or even office retreats which require some exclusivity :) There's a big seminar meeting room/ dining room. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Beds may be a lil bit hard, but once you lie down on them, they're just as comfy. -- a natural haven just one hour away from Bangkok :-)
- jayamee (8/5): Exotic and exquisite - This charming traditionnal thai style resort hotel in Ayutthaya offers such exotic and exquisite atmosphere. Situated by Lopburi river, this resort offers such privilege of pleasant scenery where we enjoy total relaxation with traditionnal thai massage.
- imp102 (10/5): Very relaxing - The hotel is slightly out of town (say 10 mins in a tuk tuk) but it is worth travelling the short distance. Rooms are beautiful looking out onto the river. Staff are extremely pleasant and accommodating. The service isn't sophisticated (the girls on the desk are very young) but they try to make the stay as perfect as possible.
Couple of down sides, food wasn't great and the beds are HARD (futon hard)
This place totally rules for a couple of nights
