• Dornbrack (9/5): Overall very pleasant. - Very fancy and tasty breakfast. Staff friendly. Room large and clean and well serviced. Entire establishment kitted out with high quality fittings, equipment and furniture. It would have been nice to have a bath and a shower. There's only a shower although enough space for both. Parking space on site is limited.

Door has to be lifted upwards to turn the key. Lady on her own may not have the strength to do this. A little short of outdoor lighting at the rear of the property. Path from cottages to front carpark could be improved for heavy wheeled suitcases. Our friends in cottage 5 had problems with their front door. Swelled in the storm?

Needs a different roller blind/awning for the terrace - Well equipped and lovely staff Outside awning gave no option for sunbathing as always in the complete shade. Needed to divide the covering to enable residents the option for sun or shade through the day
• Struan (9/5): Beautiful stay in a stunning location - Franschhoek is such a stunning place to stay. We loved our stay here. It is 10 min walk to the wine tram and to all the restaurants and bars. It felt very safe and we walked home at night in the dark and felt safe. We wouldn't do this in cape town. The room was great size and we had seats outside. Pool area is beautiful. We wished we had better weather to sunbathe. Breakfast was superb and staff friendly. Parking right outside the house. Would highly recommend! Nothing

• Thierry (6/5): Pas très bien tenu, dommage! - Bel établissement dans un très bel endroit qui a dû être d'un bon niveau lorsqu'il était correctement géré. Nous avons été accueillis par une personne moyennement aimable et pas du tout souriante. Lorsqu'elle nous a présenté notre chambre, il y avait des feuilles d'arbres qui étaient tombées sur la moquette, ça ne lui est pas venu à l'idée de les ramasser ! Nous n'avons pas été dans la piscine car l'eau était trouble, du fait de la végétation qui n'était pas retirée. La porte de la salle de bain coulissait très mal, c'était impossible pour mon épouse de la fermer seule. En résumé, l'endroit pourrait être très sympa s'il était géré correctement, mais il n'est pas tenu ! C'était, fort heureusement, notre seule expérience de ce type en Afrique du Sud.
• LiseLotte (9/5): Great! - Most things were better than expected, the premises, the lovely residential area, the pool would have been great too if it wasn´t filled with leafs. The room looked much better in reality, but the pillows were to high and I had to sleep on a towel instead and if you need to go to the toilet in the night, not only are you switching on the light in both the bathroom and in the toilet room at the same time the noisy extractor also turns on, all on the same lamp button so there is a large risk of waking up your company too. Everything else was great, breakfast excellent, just enough and very nice! See above

• Reena (8/5): Great experience yet again! Fab location. - Room is lovely with a nice shower. We had the room next to the pool area. Bed is comfy with nice pillows. We got to know the owners last year but they weren’t there this time although we got to say hello on FaceTime. They are lovely. The breakfast is so good. You get a great starting continental selection followed by cooked if you wish from the menu! The rooms have Netflix and Amazon prime. You can walk to the wine tram starting point so the location is great. Parking available outside. Toiletries and hairdryer provided. Nice robes in the room. Lovely pool area. There is air con in the room and shower gel in the bathroom. The pool chairs could be cleaned down as they’re covered in leaves/bits. There was nowhere to order wine if we wanted a glass. We could never find anyone and it said until 6pm we should be able to order.

• Jana (10/5): An Outstanding Place to Stay – Highly Recommended! - Our stay at this accommodation was simply exceptional! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the host, whose friendliness and attentiveness truly stood out. The breakfast was a real highlight: top quality, beautifully presented, and made with fresh ingredients. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and tastefully decorated. The entire property reflects a great sense of style and attention to detail. What made it even more special were the beautiful artworks by an African artist displayed throughout the property. We felt really welcome and comfortable. The breakfast is amazing! And extremely generous. Really an unexpected added bonus! Super coffee in the bedroom as well. The room was lovely and warm and the electric blanket was already on when we arrived. Thank you! We were also thoughtfully provided with an umbrella for the duration of our stay. Loved the art as well. I think this will be an amazing place to stay in summer as well, as it has a beautiful swimming pool and outside area. Definitely my go to spot in Franschhoek now! Nothing not to like.

• Josephine (10/5): - All the rooms are different but all are good-sized. Our room has double bathroom sinks, a large shower, a chaise lounge in addition to two armchairs. Very comfy. The breakfasts are excellent! Their so-called mini-continental is big enough to fill up most people: fresh baked muffin, croissant, fresh fruit, cheeses& meats, yogurt, juice, coffee. But you can also add eggs Benedict, omelette, shashuska, French toast— all included! We were in the winter but I can see how nice it’d be to enjoy their pool and gardens in the summer. Highly recommend.

• Gill (9/5): Luxury guest house providing quality accommodation, great staff, a 15 minute walk from the town. - The room was superb. The pool area was substantial with plenty of optional shade. Good choice of food for breakfast, starting with set continental breakfast followed by cooked options of your choice. All well presented and cooked. The room we had (Suite 1) was superb, large, well furnished and comfortable. The bathroom, recently refurbished was nicely presented but a few very minor niggles eg. no door hooks, no towel ring near the basin, the basin was obstructing one of the windows and the other window and it’s external shutter wouldn’t shut - this occasionally proved to be a problem regarding privacy. There was also no shaver point, although I didn’t see many of these on our travels around South Africa.

• Lewis (10/5): Great stay - We had a fantastic stay at Residence Vive La Vie. We were warmly greeted upon our early arrival and were very happy that they were able to have our room ready (after a very long flight). Our cottage was spacious and well appointed, and the bed was very comfortable. Location is about a 15 minute walk to the center of town, very convenient. The breakfast was phenomenal, fresh cut fruit and made to order dishes prepared by some talented chefs every day. Highly recommend!

There is wine tasting at dieu donné in the same street, supermarket on walking distance and most important the wine tram in walking distance. Very big and clean room, lovely breakfast and very nice management and (Dutch) owners. Good size swimming pool in the garden and Evelyne at breakfast is so friendly. (Didn't manage it) We were in Superior Queen Suite 3, which offers a good sized bedroom with a sitting area with TV and a dressing area with desk. Good bathroom with excellent shower.
