It was in a great location being a short 5 minute walk to echoland. There was a shuttle bus stop outside the lodge which took you to the different mountain resorts which was very convenient. The rooms were warm and comfortable. The staff were very kind and helpful and the continental breakfast was great. Would definitely stay here again.

The c - I was blown away by the courteousness of the staff and accommodations in the lodge. The common area and bar was comfortable, pleasing and warm with some of the kindest hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. They went out of their way to get to know us and spend time together, provide us with rides to ski rental shops and bus stops, and recommend incredible restaurants/ski resorts. Nothing, it was perfect.
- Sharni (10/5): Amazing, helpful staff, clean lodge, great location - Super friendly and helpful staff, helped us get to and from our lodge and with other important information, comfortable and clean room and overall lodge. Great location close to echoland!! nothing!

- Proctor (10/5): - We had such a wonderful time staying here. The hosts were such amazing people. Very helpful, accommodating and kind. Helped us with all bookings and information on getting to and from ski resorts. The location of this place was perfect as we it was close enough to Echoland but far enough away to be out of the crowds. Sunae and Andrew always made us feel at home. And to top it all off, Sanae’s specialty hotpot will be one I’ll forever dream about. Thank you guys

- Nobuyuki (10/5): 白馬No.1の宿です。 - サナエさん、アンドリューさん、他スタッフのフレンドリーで気の利いたサービスに大満足。楽しく素晴らしい思い出をありがとうございました♪ なし!
- Matt (10/5): Great Ski Lodge with Great People - The staff at the hotel were awesome, totally made the stay. Location to echoland was great for food and bars and there was a bus stop for the free shuttle 1 minute from the front door. Nothing. It was a great stay!
- Dylan (10/5): A cosy and charming stay, which I would recommend to anyone. - Andy, Sanae, and all the staff were super friendly and helpful. We felt so at ease with everyone and honestly wish we could have spent more time with them in the communal space. Unfortunately we just had some big days so we’re a bit too zapped by the end of it. Breakfast being included everyday was also a massive bonus. Bathroom facilities were quite basic. But really they were totally fine for what you need to do. Very efficient use of the space.
- Michael (10/5): Amazing staff, great location, friendly atmosphere. - Fantastic place to stay for a winter getaway in Hakuba. Andrew, Sanae, Jess and Charlie were amazing and went above and beyond in providing recommendations for slopes to go down, bus routes to take to and from as well as provided us with a drop off to our bus stop. The lodge was incredibly homely, was close to transport to the slopes and was close to the main restaurant hub of Echoland. Overall would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Hakuba. Nothing
- Ashley (10/5): Best stay, amazing location. Highly reccomend. - Andrew, Sanae, and the HHL team were the loveliest bunch who went out of their way to make our stay both memorable and comfortable. Sanae’s hotpot was amazing and she very much is like the lodge mum. The beds were super comfy and probably one of the best sleeps in the entirety of our Japan trip. Highly recommend!! Nothing.

- Richard Zimmer (10/5): - Haven Lodge was amazing. The owners and staff were helpful at every request. Picked us up from the train station and drove us to get ski equipment and dropped us off when we had to leave. The rooms were basic but warm and comfortable. The rest of the lodge was cozy, and a dining and meeting area where the owners and staff and guests would all hang out and chat and have a beer which was awesome.
Continetal breakfast is included and for and extra 10 bucks, you can have bacon and eggs.
Great place reminded me of staying at my uncles cabin. It's cozy and only a few guests rooms so everyone interacts.
Ski hill shuttle bus for half the hills is rightoutside the door and the other bus stops and main strip is 10min walk. Loved my stay and hope to be back. Only complait which is minor is the lodge main areas were a bit cold but to be expected with people coming and going.
- Olivia (10/5): - Andy and Sanae were the best host you could possibly ask for! Any question we had the staff would answer it, whether it was to do with what bus to catch, best slopes or dinner recommendations. The facilities were amazing with clean tidy rooms and a common area with a bar and tea and coffee. Location was perfect with a bus stop in front of the accomodation and walking distance from the main road in Echoland. The lodging staff were also so welcoming and accomodating. Thanks for making us feel so comfortable and equipped for our first snow/ski holiday. Highly recommend!
- Andrea (10/5): The perfect place for a family snow adventure, made better by the staff who were always willing to provide suggestions. - Great location with fantastic staff!
Hot showers, cosy lounge with wood fireplace, massage chair and great priced beer making an afternoon post skiing very comfortable and relaxing.
We were picked up and dropped off from the bus station, assisted with organising rental gear and lessons.
Lots of great restaurants within walking distance and the shuttle to the mountain is less than a minutes walk away.
They also surprised our teenager with a birthday cake...really thoughtful!
- Phoebe (9/5): - It is super close to Echoland and shuttle services if you are wanting to get to the mountains without renting a car. The owners and staff are lovely, accomodating and always happy to help with tips about the area. We would definitely stay with them again!
- Sarah (10/5): Fantastic stay! - Very clean and always helpful Nothing :)
- Ella (10/5): - Provided absolutely everything we needed. All the staff were lovely and eager to help - especially with directions for getting around. Got a lift to and from the train station (super helpful) and breakfast was perfect. Such a perfect location and had so much fun.
- Tom (10/5): -
- SD (10/5): - Highly recommend
- Jaime (10/5): - The staff were amazing and very helpful, great location with the bus stop for ski slope access, great morning breakfast. Would recommend!
- Austin (10/5): - The hosts and staff were unbelievable friendly and helpful. They had great knowledge of the valley and where to find the best skiing. Rooms were clean and the shared space is great to chill out in after a big day. Location is close to the main strip of restaurants and to bus stops going all over the valley. Hot breakfast is available if that is your style. and Hot pot dinner is also available. Great stay, will be returning :)
- Sav (10/5): Thank you guys for making us feel so welcome, it was the highlight of our trip to Japan. - An amazing lodge, with everything you need for a white winter holiday. There was nothing we didn’t like, Andrew, Sanae and the Haven Lodge team are awesome and so accomodating.
- Jackson (10/5): - This lodge is in a great location, close to echo land and across the road from a bus stop to the slopes.
There is a communal area with a fireplace which is a great social area.
I could not commend the staff enough, they are always up for a chat and ready to help out. Sanae is an incredibly kind host, even driving us to our dinner reservation one night when we couldn’t get a taxi in time.
- Sophie (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay at Hakuba Haven Lodge. Such a welcoming space with an amazing team that go above and beyond t -
- Katie (8/5): Affordable lodge with a great vibe - The best part of the lodge were the owners, staff and other guests. It has such a friendly, welcoming vibe/atmosphere. It's also one of the affordable accommodations in town with an en suite bathroom and really delicious breakfast. They pushed our single beds together and put a topper on it and the bed was sooo comfortable. The lodge felt so safe and secure - we didn't lock our rooms. The owners also pick you up and drop you off from the bus stations bc taxis and busses are not easy to come by at hakuba.
Make a reservation at Niku Masa - it's right next door! All of the restaurants in ecolodge are close too.
We went to happo onsen daily - they allow tattoos! Location was difficult bc of lack of transportation infrastructure, especially at night. We ended up walking everywhere bc busses were unreliable and inconsistent. Taxis were maxed out too. A car would be very helpful here! We also recommend pre booking busses to and from hakuba from nagano.
Roads are slippery and don't have sidewalks so bring micro spikes or yak tracks for walking - a must to avoid slipping!
Our room was noisy bc it backed up to common room but people quieted down for the night around 11/11:30.
Bc Hakuba logistics change yearly, it was difficult to figure out how to get around, even with staff help.
More storage and clothes hanging in rooms would be so helpful!
- Tate (10/5): An enjoyable white Christmas! - Excellent location very close to bars and restaurants of Echoland, with simple and quick access to the slopes. Plus there are helpful, friendly staff who create a homely feel.

- Brendan (10/5): Run by a good bunch of humans, warm cozy room and comfortable bed. The fire place always seems to be going in the social - Good location, close to bus stop
- Paul (9/5): Awesome!!!!! - Breakfast was simple but delicious, a good start to the day. We enjoyed the homeliness of the lodge and the easy interaction between staff and guests. The bed room was a little dusty but clean and comfortable. Maybe an extra pillow would have been great but am just being picky now.
- Sara (10/5): Everything perfect - Everything was perfect. The owners are so friendly and gave us so many informationa about Hakuba and the Ski resorts.
- Benedict (10/5): - Owners were extremely hospitable and friendly
- Tyson (10/5): - Amazing property, staff, and services. Everyone was so welcoming and really made our trip. 10/10
- David (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay while in Hakuba. Andy and Sanoe were so welcoming and helpful. Provided pickup from the station and helped with ski hire. They provided great advice for where to go skiing and eating/drinking. The room was clean, comfortable and cosy. We liked the bed and breakfast style and the location was perfect. Close to bus stops and good restaurants and cafes.
- Pasqual (9/5): Great accomodation with great hosts, Andy and Sanae - We got a free upgrade to the log cabin, which was great!
- James (10/5): - The friendly hosts and atmosphere in the lounge area. Hosts were friendly, warm and helped with booking restaurants, hiring ski gear and navigating transport options. We would.love to come back. Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): Home away from home! - Haven Lodge was so incredible and the best accommodation that we stayed at over our entire trip in Japan! Felt like a home away from home. The owners are so friendly, welcoming, and go above and beyond to make your stay in Hakuba everything you want it to be. Nothing is too much trouble. The lodge is warm and cosy and the rooms are everything you could ask for. The common areas are comfortable and a great place to make new friends 😊 Could not recommend the Haven Lodge any more for your stay in Hakuba
- Luis (9/5): -
- Jade (10/5): Don’t stay anywhere else in Hakuba! - Andrew and Sanae made our first trip to Hakuba so enjoyable! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such warmth from them, and they were so knowledgeable in their tips and recommendations for anything Hakuba-related! The actual accomodation was so warm and cozy, and the beds were big and comfortable. The rooms were super clean, amazing to go back to after a long day of skiing. We enjoyed the breakfast spread every morning, and definitely ask Sanae for her famous hotpot, it was so good! The location was also very strategic, the free ski shuttle buses were just outside our doorstep, and food and shops were within walking distance. We will definitely be coming back to Hakuba Haven Lodge when we go back to Hakuba, it’s truly such good value for money and made our trip so memorable.
- Alyssa (10/5): -
- Samantha (10/5): Amazing hosts to help you have an amazing stay. - The most amazing hosts who go out of their way to make sure you have a great trip. They will pick you up when you arrive, help you with hiring your ski/snowboard equipment and are always around to provide advice on Hakuba or just for a general chat. The lodge was in a great location with a bus stop at the end of the street to take you to all the slopes. The room was clean and well heated, and the free continental breakfast was such a bonus. Will be back to stay for sure! Nothing!
- James (10/5): -
- Rachel (6/5): this is just a very basic chalet with no extra conmforts when the fire was not lit it was cold and u - breakfast was very basic and you had to pay more for eggs the room was tiny the lounge area was small and not cosy
- Kyle (10/5): Ai shite iru! - The owners! Andy and Sanae are some of the most genuine and hospitable people I've ever met. Accomodations were great, Sanaes hot pot was INCREDIBLE, and the company was even better. Thank you for everything!
- The Colorado Boys (Kyle, James, Stace, and Jeffro) No wifi in the cottage, but not that big of a deal
- YASUKI (8/5): -
- Azariah (10/5): - Andy and Senai were great hosts! Super helpful and lovely people in general. They did the most to help us out. Highly recommend staying here, the room was clean, comfortable and warm. Right near a bus stop and a short walk to the main street. Can’t wait to come back!
- Hui Min (10/5): It was perfect! - Sanae, Andy & team were amazingly welcoming hosts. I liked the simple breakfast spread in the mornings and nothing beats coming back to a warm lodge in the winter evenings! Nothing.
- Richard (10/5): - The staff support was the biggest stand out. The hospitality was amazing. Nothing to complain about.
- Davin (10/5): Very homely lodge in a great central location! - Everyone at the lodge was super friendly and gave plenty of advice on where to go and what to do in hakuba. Location was perfect, super close to the main echoland strip and heaps of busses. All facilities were also very well kept and clean. Sanae and Andrew were lovely hosts and Sanae's home made hotpot was to die for!
- Matthew (9/5): -
- Jackson (10/5): Great location with a welcoming, accommodating, and friendly staff! - The property was in a great location near lots of good restaurants and also had a bus stop right across the street that made getting around very easy.
- Nick (10/5): -

- Guest (10/5): -
- Afazio88 (10/5): - The amazing hospitable people who run the place. They were always very accommodating for all our needs. I've stayed at many places in hakuba over the last 10 years and none have ever had the homily feel that I felt staying here. It was like being at home away from home.
Location is perfect far enough that you don't have to hear the hustle and bustle from the main drag down echoland but you're only a 7 min away so it's extremely accessible plus the shuttle bus for the mountains is literally just outside the property.
Andy and Senai (and the rest of the staff) were absolutely amazing and offered such a great experience I will definitely be back for a stay and a gin and tonic with Andy
- KENTAROU (10/5): - スタッフの方々が気さくで親切で凄く居心地が良かったです。外国方のお客様がが多いのでちょっとした海外旅行気分にもなれます。
