Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely country inn - About 14 minutes from Berwick in a quiet spot.
Very comfortable room.
Lovely friendly staff.
Breakfast was amazing, just ask and you get.
Highly recommend but only have 2 rooms so be quick.
- Hazel (8/5): Lovely stay - The staff at the Salutation Inn were very friendly, helpful and welcoming.
There are only 2 rooms available for B&B; we had a room with one double, against a wall and one single bed. As I like to have a bedside table, I opted to sleep in the single bed the first night, but this was rather lumpy and uncomfortable, so I moved to wall side of the double bed and found getting up in middle of night wasn't that much of a problem. There was no hint of any WiFi network showing up either in the room or at breakfast, so we just used our personal data allowance. TV reception was erratic and not many channels available, but then we don't go on holiday to watch TV. Nice and quiet at night, despite being on a fairly main road. Good location for visiting Berwick, Holy Island, etc.
Breakfasts were delicious, made to our personal choice of ingredients, selected the night before. We ate there one evening and the food was very good and service excellent.
- Peter (8/5): Room for improvement - Stayed just the single night at this unpretentious pub which has just a couple of rooms to let. Very friendly and helpful staff but the room was very cramped (partly due to having a single as well as double bed) and was very dated in facilities. Evening meal was fine, and excellent breakfast all cooked to order. Overall, no complaints - but could be better.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Looking for a quiet, relaxing short break. The Salutation delivered on all counts.
A hearty breakfast followed by a day at the beach and a day in town, (Berwick), perfect.
- Thomas (10/5): Home from Home - Relax and put your feet up, just like home, Staff very helpful, would stay again..
- Stuart (6/5): - The inn had an open mic night and my room was right above it. Not what you want after a long day of work. Food was and service was good. Few things in the room that need looking at mug had a chip in it not enough toilet roll but worst thing was the socket in the wall fell out. WiFi is hosted by the cloud.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly and right on the border - We found it a good place to stay whilst exploring the Northumberland coast and Scottish Borders along the River Tweed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great inn/hotel, excellent food, really looked aft - Really nice place, very dog friendly and excellent food.
- Ged (10/5): - Fantastic staff very helpful, Tuesday night home made curry night that was a bonus, takeaway breakfast sorted as I had an early start made by the owner.
- Hilary (8/5): Very reasonably priced hotel - Very convenient location for our weekend activities.
- J (8/5): Lovely welcome - Small with only two rooms as it is pub. Proprietor brilliant and cooked me home made chips and egg as it was already 20.30 when I arrived. The white wine was properly chilled! Safe parking also.
- B&W (6/5): OK for a one night stop-over - Staff very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast (included) very nice and plentiful. Evening meals/Sunday lunches available at additional cost were very nice. Clean linen, comfortable bed, adequate ensuite (but no extractor fan), tea/coffee making facilities, TV, reading books for male and female (nice touch!), hairdryer, ample clothes space. On the whole everything was fine and the staff were lovely just that the room seemed a bit "tired" and wasn't ideally located as was directly above the publicans bar so was a tad noisy if you wanted to retire before closing time. Not in our opinion worth the room rate being charged but then we are tight Yorkshire folk! Hats off to the owner/s though who were obviously working very hard to make their business work.
- Deborah (8/5): Salutation inn, Berwick - Stayed for one night en route to Scotland. Lovely old pub in beautiful countryside. Nice room with comfy beds, nice little touch bath robes provided. Had a lovely meal there and breakfast was very nice, cooked to order and you chose from a very long list what you wanted the night before. Would definitely stay here again
- John (8/5): A friendly place to stay with good food too. - The staff were very friendly & helpful, & the food was good too (you must try the Bounty cheesecake- delicious!). The en-suite room was clean & quite nicely decorated, but the double bed felt rather compact as it was against the wall which made getting in & out difficult for the person nearest the wall. The view from our room was beautiful & we found it nice & quiet too. Overall it was a nice friendly place to stay.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great stay at this pub/restaurant stayed two days and nights very good food at reasonable price, lovely comfortable bed and good views from windows good local company in bar at nights all very friendly wish we could have stayed longer you wont regret staying at the Salutation inn
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly and welcoming - A lovely little hotel with very friendly staff and customer's. Good food and only a short drive away from Berwick.
- Verified traveler (8/5): comfortable inn/small hotel accommodation - relative to the costs involved this met my needs. it was accessible to countryside and seaside both sides of the border
which was my main objective. there is much history , with many sites of importance, close at hand(i.e within 30-40 miles
