- Lea (10/5): Lovely, quiet getaway - Great place to stay and get away. Close to Madison and was a central meeting place for me and my friends for a weekend away. Service was wonderful and friendly and helped us with a key card that didnt work. Note to those who stay, the faucet to get the shower to run is under the tub spiget. Took me a minute to figure out you have to pull the actual mouth of the spiget for it to run.
- Verified traveler (6/5): I expected better. Disapointed. - I was disappointed. Paper thin walls (could hear the guy snoring in the room next door). Patio door painted closed " by accident" when maintenance painted recently. Ice machine room next to us was horrible and smelled like a moldy locker rrom with linens on shelves and all over the floor (I refused to go in). No noticed on the website that restaurant was closed and in conference room. The only option for breakfast was all you can eat and i cant eat a lot so not worth the money to me. We stayed 2 nights and house keeping never replenished or refreshed our room (they said i would have had to ask for it in advance). Our handicap room was almost the farthest room away from the front entrance. Nice lobby and rooms, but not enough for me to stay here again.

- Lacie (10/5): - This was really a great stay! Everyone should do this once in their life! I personally get scared to any strange noise being a city chic but the cottages were so cute a spacious! Everything we needed was there if not they brought it down to us we didn’t have to go pick up anything. Signs posted saying not to walk anywhere alone not sure about that but other than the pool being down for the year an a few minor things we really wanted to do they also had a infested park so certain types of trees were dying it was sad. On positive note we will be going back..!!..

Great views and plenty of space in the cottage. Could use a few more kitchen ammenities like a frying pan bigger than 8 inches. The sheets, bathrooms, kitchen were clean. Floors were not. Left our feet black. Did enjoy exploring the grounds on the paths.
- Lynn (8/5): - Overall, I had a very nice day and I enjoyed being in the cabin, the kitchen had all needed utensils and was very nice and clean as was the bathroom. The Main complaint that I have is that The keys stopped working and I had to go at least twice back up to the main lodge to get them re-done. I was warned to keep them away from cell phone And I kept them in separate pockets in my purse . It was not really apparent but the floor was dirty. I noticed it when I took a shower and observed dirt washing off the bottom of my feet - I had been walking, barefoot inside the cabin. Lastly, the televisions were not hooked up correctly and so I could not watch TV on them, but that wasn’t such a big deal for me as I did have my iPad with me and could watch TV on it

I was a little bit spooked when I first got to my cottage because the TV wouldn’t turn off, and the bathroom had something brown and streaky on the tile, there were some bugs, but this is expected in a camping cabin. The bed was clean the sheets were clean no bugs in the bed! I would definitely stay there again, but I might take some cleaning supplies with me. Breakfast was delicious.

There was no lounge or amenities. I had asked to be moved to a cabin once I found out everything was closed and the park manager refused even though the cabin sat empty for our entire stay. We could have at least cooked for ourselves. I dont really know why they are even open right now.

- Anita (8/5): - We love General Butler but were disappointed that there was no TP in the unit (we got some from the front desk), no icemaker or even an ice tray. The last 2 bedroom we rented had an ice maker, the 2 coffee packages in the drawer were BOTH decaf. And we SO SO SO missed the Fried chicken. When we went to dinner Friday night they didn't have any but the waitress checked with the kitchen and we were told that YES Saturday night they would be making fried chicken. But we came back from Cincinnati early and NO, they were not making fried chicken. We ate dinner in an awful restaurant downtown. We had to be back in Louisville early Sunday so we had to miss lunch Sunday which surely served fried chicken.

We couldn’t take a step to the right without there being a complaint on us about noise. We’d been gone all day, get to the room, turn on the tv and eat (no one was talking because we were just exhausted from the day) and boom phone rings about our room being too “noisy” fortunately the young lady at the desk understood exactly what was really going on.

Room was so nice and clean--very big with an individual balcony. Breakfast was just incredible--a hot buffet with all the goodies plus a fruit and yogurt bar and cereal too. Real restaurant quality. The lodge main room windows overlook quite a view and are fantastic to see--looks like a chapel with wood beams. Definitely would visit again!

- Nancy (8/5): Vacation! - We had a fabulous time, went to the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum. We stayed at the General Butler Resort Hotel in a cabin. It is beautiful, too bad the pool was under construction, but had things to do. Our cabin had a sunken bedroom which was weird that you had to step down into the room and felt like you were going to fall. Hopefully all the cabins are not like that. Breakfasts are included and where fabulous!!! Would love to go back!!

The breakfast menu was good and the waiters were friendly. There was a swimming pool, but it was unfortunate that it was under construction and could not be used.

Savannah was my friendly server. The Hostess, Annie was fabulous, took time to converse with me. The food was absolutely amazing! Breakfast comes with the stay..the best real breakfast at any hotel!. I loved it.

- Tim (2/5): Keep looking!! - When we walked in the place was empty!! I immediately thought of the hotel from "The Shining" movie. The photos and the descriptions of this place are not accurate. The pool has not worked for over a year. The internet was not working. The breakfast was frozen items from Costco in a paper bag. Many of the rooms are not in use due to a flood at some time in the past. The room we were in was in disrepair and dimly lit. The staff was apologetic and polite but had nothing to offer. Said that some of the issues were due to a lack of state funding. It's obvious this place was something special back in the day, but not today.

- Jeffery (8/5): Enjoyable Weekend Get-Away - Friends were staying at the campgrounds, so I booked the lodge (I am SO not a camper), and spent my nights there after visiting all day. Very pleased with my stay! Affordable, clean and well-kept, comfortable, and every staff member I encountered was polite and friendly! Will definitely consider GBSRP for future get-aways!
- Joan (4/5): - , Beautiful property, quiet, clean with friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was in a sack which had to be taken to another room to heat, no microwave. Pool was broken (had been for over a year). We checked out after the night and received a full refund.
- Amethyst (10/5): - We loved the friendly atmosphere and location of the resort. We enjoyed the variety of things to do on location without having to leave the resort.
- Jereme (8/5): Family stay - The pool was closed which is very disappointing as we specifically choose our lodging based on having a pool. The hot breakfast was delicious and all of the staff was very friendly. The cottage and the property are not well maintained. The roads have a lot of potholes. Our cottage key reader didn't work the majority of the time. We even had the keys kept far away from anything else and took them to be reprogrammed once they still barely worked. Most of the time it didn't even recognize you inserted a key. The cottage itself was pretty snug and the shower could be cleaned better. I understand you are "glamping" but they should spray the porch for spiders - at night there is an army of them trying to attack you while you are fighting with the key to get in. I don't think they ever mop the floors in the cabins they were very very dirty.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room had a rustic charm and was very clean with comfortable beds. Refrigerator and tv but no microwave. Pool is damaged and not available for use. The restaurant at the lodge is also currently closed. Was told due to lack of funds for the State park there is no time frame on when they will get either opened. Plenty of short walking trails throughout the park we’re enjoyable. Breakfast is very subpar. Consists of frozen mini waffle, fruit cup, muffin, granola bar and juice. Was great for an overnight while traveling but no amenities as advertised.

- Paul (10/5): - Nice quiet lodge that looks to be going through some renovations. Great buffet at 2 Rivers. Down fall is the pool isn’t open but not a big deal.
- Kurt (2/5): - The Room #202 was absolutely horrible. It was right next to the lobby and elevator. And the adjacent room’s door slammed constantly and the sound of the elevator was annoying. After over an hour of having my sleep constantly disturbed, I asked to move to another room. Though the 2nd room was mostly quieter, the room above me, I could easily hear the footsteps at midnight. Fortunately, once they stopped walking around, it was quiet enough to fall asleep. Their facility definitely needs to somehow update their soundproofing.

While we were there the staff were able to satisfy some needs, but no housekeeping attention was given to our room at the lodge during our stay in mid -April. Much attention to detail needed to ready the facility for prime time. It is a lovely location.

- Steven (8/5): - General Butler State Park is a beautiful place to stay. It has lots of hiking trails and a multitude of facilities for camping and outdoor activities. We stayed in the lodge which is a wonderfully attractive building, with an gorgeous lounge with high glass windows looking out over woodland to the Ohio river in the distance. This room has a huge open fireplace that would be incredible in the winter. Our room was very clean and nicely situated for loading bags from the car and had everything we needed. Thanks GBSP, excellent service and facilities! 🙂
- Marlene (2/5): - I had no reservation due to Expedias error and I had to take what I could at another hotel location. If I get charged for this, I will never book with Expedia again! Lost time and wasted effort!

- Linda (8/5): Gen Butler Lodge - Gen Butler is a traditional state park for Ky. Lodge has good views and large windows. If you were going to make reservations here indicate non-smoking as there are both types of rooms. Rooms are basic but clean and have balconies. If you want to face woods ask for Wood Wing Rooms. Other rooms face large swim pool. We were there for Halloween weekend LOTS of activities for family. All in all a nice visit.

- Karen (10/5): Perfect Weekend Get-Away - This was an AWESOME weekend getaway for us. We were in a 1 bedroom cottage and it was secluded, quiet and relaxing. They did not provide daily housekeeping services BUT they left plenty of towels and washcloths so we didn't have to ask for more. Front desk staff and restaurant staff were all super-friendly and welcoming. The restaurant staff worked their tails off Saturday morning and I felt bad for them because it seemed like there were alot of demanding customers. I cannot wait to return to this Kentucky State Park!
- Erica (2/5): - Took several different keys to open my door, then the deadbolt got stuck out and I couldn’t even shut the door! One of the reasons I came was for the dinner buffet. I arrived 2 hours before the restaurant closed but by the time they figured out the door situation the restaurant was only open for 9 more minutes. Then the people in the room next to me were having a loud party. They moved me to a different room with loud people on 3 sides of my room. Both rooms had bugs. The fridge wasn’t cleaned out in the first room. This place is a literal nightmare!

- Jack (8/5): - I liked the scenic views of the property overlooking the Ohio River. The room had a great view of the nearby forest. The dining area had good entries and was tasty. I did not like the rough condition of our tub with many defects of the finish. The fact that there were cigarette butts in a dish on the balcony despite the fact it was a non-smoking room. The pool was non-operational. Overall a good experience but could be better.

- John (4/5): - I’m used to rough State cabins, but there was no couch, only two very rough cushioned chairs. The table was set up against the window causing me to hit my head several times on the light fixture. One window would not fully close and there was no screen - we put a towel in the crack to keep the bugs out. The toilet seat was larger than the base and one could not open or close the door with it down. Replaced electronic door key twice, only to figure out it was the actual lock. Once it took about twenty times for it to unlock. Very scenic park. Buffet breakfast was good and the service was good.
- Paul (4/5): Needs upgrades - Pool had been closed for a year and the alternate pool closed at 5, which they told us when we checked in at 4:55. Restaurant is only open on weekends, so we missed that. No ice machine working. Grab and go was disappointing too. Sorry , the trails did look interesting though.

Servers were excellent and very helpful and congenial as they 'ran their legs off'. No facial tissue in room a little inconvenient (but COVID still rules)
- Rebecca (8/5): - Bar/restaurant was reasonably priced and wait staff was friendly. No swimming because the pool liner was torn, our room was older with a loud A/C unit, and our room door could wake the dead when closing it.
- RONALD (6/5): - The place was pretty average. I was given wrist bands for the pool for my daughter and me, only to find out that there was no water in the pool. The breakfast was ok, but everything was cold and they were out of milk. Just an overall average experience. Probably would not stay again.
