Guest Reviews
- JAMES (4/5): - reception spoke very little English which was surprising
- Maureen Eva (6/5): - Very reasonable for the price, very convenient for where I needed to be
- David (8/5): - Good clean simple accomodation. Good parking facilities.
- David (2/5): Terrible - Ive stayed here many times, although its mainly used as social housing ive not had any major problems before.
However, my last visit will be my last.
Due to someone smoking in a room the fire alarm went off twice which was annoying after a long day at work.
On the second occasion, myself and other guests obviously went downstairs during the fire alarm.
The man on reception, who spoke no English was obviously angrt with whoever was smoking.
I was stood next to a door and he slammed the door at me causing an injury to my foot.
No apology or even acknowledgement that anything happened.
The other guests were appalled at what happened.
If you stay here you will be treated like a social housing resident rather than a paying guest.
There are better places to stay, i suggest the village inn, murton which is a 10 minute drive from here or head to durham city centre.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It is clean but basic, however lashings of hot water and lovely and warm. If you're expecting luxury, this isn't the place for you, however, if you want an honest, cheap, clean and warm place to rest your head for the night, then this is okay for just that.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great value for money and spacious well decorated room. Good continental breakfast. Bathroom could have been cleaner
- barry (4/5): - Wouldn't stay ever again
- Phil (8/5): - No hastle hotel friendly stafc
- Mark (10/5): Little Gem - Stopover for Durham. I was surprised to find my room ho been upgraded.
It's a very new development, with very nice spec. Great value
- Jacques (6/5): - No much around to eat or drink
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Good breakfast. Clean room. Not enough toilets/showers. No hand towels in bathroom.
- Chris (8/5): One night - Ideal stop value for money
- adam (6/5): Nice hotel not far of the a19 - The hotel was nice overall the only let down was thin walls etc as I could here shouting etc from other room which went on till the early hours the rooms are spot on and the staff freindy and happy to help
- John (6/5): Not what I expected - The hotel is clean and warm, I chose it because of the price. I would think it's actually a Hostel rather than hotel. No evening meal and not many local eateries I found within walking distance. So I drove
Continental breakfast was pre packaged. The bedroom was not cleaned during the day so sheets and towels not changed.
It snowed overnight and the carpark was not salted so it was very slippery.
Overall warm, clean but you get what you pay for.
- Gary (6/5): It was just ok - The hotel has had a lot of money spent on it but the finish is bad so it looks shabby.
The room had a shared toilet and bathroom, not clearly stated on booking. It was also a very long complicated walk from reception.
We didn't eat breakfast there so I cannot say what this was like.
- KP (6/5): Economical, clean and convenient for Durham - Although undergoing refurbishment, our room was clean and comfortable. Recommend a satnav to get to the address. Based in a old coal mining village, there didn't appear to be a lot to do locally, however, it is only 20 minutes from Durham which as an university city had many good places to eat and some visitor attractions.
