The remote control of the TV wouldn’t work from the bed. I had to get up right in front of it to change the channels.
beverly (8/5): - I really liked the lady at the front desk. She was very cheerful and helpful. It is an older motel, but it was sufficient for what we needed. The bed was comfortable. They had nice shampoo, lotion, etc. that aren’t in some lower cost motels. The price was very good too.

Carpeting in room was torn and dirty, the dark wall paneling looked like it was from 1976, there was mold in the shower tile, and general finish of the sink area was of poor quality and dirty. On the plus side, the front desk lady was very sweet, and the room had a nice little fridge and was nicely sized. Beds were comfortable.

Shane (6/5): - Asked for a handicap room for my parents. Was told because it was ordered on expedia they could not accommodate us. If they were full this would not have bothered me. But 75 percent empty and put my parents on the second floor.
Richard (10/5): - Nice property but several motorcycles took up parking spaces by parking 1-bike per space that could easily accommodate 2 or more per space… had to park a long way from unit for upstairs room that was not advantageous to senior guests toting luggage…

There are a number of others all around due to a dirt biking event but it was quiet and everyone was extremely courteous. Having the restaurant there was great since we were tired from travel and just wanted to sit in our rooms and relax before bed. Would def stay again if in the area!
Melissa (8/5): - The staff were great! The room I booked said mountain view. There's no mountain view. The carpet was pretty gross. I wore flip flops the entire time. But if you're looking for a place to sleep that allows pets, this place works.

Connie (6/5): - We stayed here some years ago and I remembered it as dated but pleasant and clean. This time it was distinctly grubby. When we checked into our room the bed was unmade, obviously not serviced. Called the front desk and was immediately’upgraded’ to a nearby room with king bed. The room was so dark we couldn’t see to unpack so I tried to open the slats on the wooden window blind. The whole blind crashed to the floor. The table in the room had a broken pedestal, wobbled so badly it was unusable. The carpet was dirty and stained and there was visible grunge in the corners. With all that though the staff was very friendly and the price was good.

We were in the wilderness area of central Idaho where cell phone coverage was spotty and they had tried to contact us via email earlier in the day to say there was a problem with the payment method (the card had been canceled due to an illegal swipe ~ 10 days earlier). But we had a valid card(s) when we showed up at the hotel. We ended up having to drive 3 hours to our home. Upon review the day after, I see their attempt to contact us earlier the day of the invalid card problem (1:10pm), but a cancelation email around the time we were ON SITE (8:29pm)! If you book here, buy trip insurance.

While the room was no smoking there were cigarette butts on the walkway entering our hotel room. Along the walkway there were garbage cans sitting on the walkway. While the garbage cans were useful, it took away from the curb appeal.

Verified traveler (4/5): Just sleep in your car - Checked out 2 days early without hopes of a refund. I'd rather have slept in my car. I was in town for a race, this was the only place available. No idea how they are getting good reviews. And they should be ashamed they charge so much!. This is not a place you want to stay. It's dirty, dingy... just gross! The bedding and towels smelled DISGUSTING! Removed the comforter and slept in my clothes because I didn't feel clean. This might be one of the worst hotel stays I can recall. One plus - they have A/C.

Verified traveler (2/5): Big security issue - My wife and I were deep in sleep just before 1:00 am in Village Inn room 45 when she woke up and screamed because a man was coming into our room. I woke to her screaming, bright light from outdoors streaming in and a man muttering words as he walked into our room. We were utterly terrified and confused. Some people in that situation would take action first and ask questions later. After I met him at the door, he showed me his copy of the room key to room 45, and then I showed him my exact same copy of our room key. Only then did he slowly back away. We later were told that "someone made a mistake" in giving him a key to our occupied room. We were never offered any further explanation. But the bigger mistake is that this hotel room, and apparently all of them on the property, HAVE NO WAY TO LOCK THE ROOM FROM THE INSIDE. Nothing but a flimsy privacy door knob. That is egregious and totally unacceptable. This was a deeply disturbing episode for us, but it could have been deadly tragic. Mini-fridges and comfy pillows are superfluous if you can't feel safe, and this hotel as appointed is not safe. I would NEVER stay here again and anyone who chooses to until appropriate changes are made is playing Russian roulette.

Verified traveler (10/5): It was good - Everyone was friendly, you are walking distance to town for dining and bars. There is a restaurant on property. Staying in Challis you are in the middle of adventure. The hotel was clean and offered enough room in the room to perform morning yoga.
Joe (10/5): - If you want all the extra then stay on the beaten path. If you want clean, good bed and shower and not all the fluff then this is it. On a motorcycle trip I love these type of places. Bonus was a good restaurant next door- nothing fancy - just good food. Would definitely stay again.

Caron (6/5): - Our 3 yr. Old grandson was traveling with us and we needed to get out and stop. The motel was conveniently located along our route and has a restaurant on the property, so it met our needs for the night- late arrival, early departure and the ability to get food quickly. It’s also pet friendly and we travel with our dog, so that’s a plus. It’s an older property, pretty rough, carpet needs replaced, microwave door was broken, but we were finally able to get it to work. The beds and sheets were clean, so we were fine to sleep and that was our main objective.

The bathroom shower still had the soap and shampoo in it from the last person that stayed there so it definitly wasnt cleaned. Human hair on the beds under the comforter wasnt very comforting either. It wasnt all bad, but it definitly wasnt cleaned well either. It will work in a pinch.

Verified traveler (6/5): Not impressed. - The room was not very good. I did stay with my dog (she is medium sized and weighs under #30. Doesn't bark, potty trained & very well mannered) and so I believe the room I was given was probably the "dog room." I can understand the reasoning but even my dog was not happy either. The carpet for sure was disgusting. Also, it took forever to get so-so hot water.
