Guest Reviews
- Jason (10/5): Lovely Little pub hotel in great location to Kew Gardens - Bright hotel in in the centre of Kew, would definitely recommend It was very clean and spacious and in a great location
- mike (8/5): Convenient location and great staff . Very comfortable and good value - Staff were great Not much
- Arvid (10/5): -
- Gabrielle (5/5): Decent stay if you're headed to Kew Gardens - The hotel is super close to the tube and train station which made getting to it from the Lake District really easy and then heading on to our next destination easy as well; we specifically stayed there so we could have a day at Kew Gardens without commuting to and from, and it is ideally situated for that. There are lots of great restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner within very close walking distance (try the Italian spot, it's fab!). For what we paid, the rooms are very dated and the water would come on and off in the sink and shower during use, which made showering a bit tricky!
- Elizabeth (10/5): - This hotel was exactly where we needed it to be for a location for the family to attend a funeral at the local crematorium. Excellent food, staff and overall friendliness. Rooms had everything that was required and beds were comfortable. Could do with some emulsion in certain parts of the rooms. The stair carpet needs to be renewed.
- MICHAEL (3/5): Room 20 Worst We Have Stayed In - The location was great close to Tube and Kew Gardens Victoria Gate. Lots of nice cafes in the area. The bar and restaurant area was well managed providing very good service and food at reasonable prices, staff were very friendly and welcoming. We have travelled the world over many years mainly giving good reviews but without a doubt Room 20 is the worst we have stayed in. It's a top floor room with a steep narrow staircase you need to be fit and mobile to access especially with luggage we are in our mid 70's reading the reviews this as been reported by other guests. The so called bathroom is no bigger than a small downstairs cloakroom with toilet, sink and shower crammed into tiny space very difficult to move around in this area. No water at all on first morning, had to go searching for member of staff eventually told Manager would not be in until 7am ended up washing with two ice buckets filled with warm water and using ground floor toilets. Room tired, needs updating & redecorating with constant overnight traffic noise. This is not a criticism of the staff who from our experience are hard working and doing their best,. We have received no official apology from the Hotel.

- Rosie (7/5): -
- Brian (8/5): good - Every thing was handy staff did their best to help out if requied Internet connection not the best
shower not that easy to control
- Suzy (8/5): Our stay was enjoyable and staff were very helpful and friendly. -
- amy (10/5): - I love the Victorian era charm of this pub+hotel. It's cozy and comfortable without being over the top or pretentious. Excellent kitchen and bar downstairs! All meals for your day are possible here. Super easy walk to/from the underground station. Great village area! Peaceful easy walk to Kew Gardens and Palace. Without hesitation, recommend this vintage charmer to everyone. Be aware there's no elevator.

- Joy (8/5): A great place for Kew gardens - The staff were friendly, the breakfasts excellent. We were in room 18 which was up 54 stairs in the attic and hard going as my husband is fit but at 76 quite hard. It was comfortable but the shower room very small. Although room small it had everything you required. I would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Kew and transport links great. Ask for rooms on lower floor if elderly. Being on top floor. There was a dehumidifier at bottom of bed making access awkward. Remove before letting out room. Needs little updating.

- CaroKorea (5/5): The room we had was probably good value for London. - The location of the hotel was excellent, very close to the station at Kew Gardens and with a bus stop right outside the door. Just a few minutes away was a small shopping area with cafe and bars. Kew Gardens was a 5 minute walk away. The area is leafy and green and a million miles away from the concrete city centre, but is on the District Line with access to everything! Our flight was delayed which meant we missed dinner. I rang the hotel to let them know, as we'd booked a table for dinner. As we arrived after 9.00 pm, it would have been really nice if we'd been offered a cold plate to be kept aside, even a sandwich. The room was fine, although we were up in the attic and it was very hot, in spite of the fan. The "bathroom" was a really tiny shower room, not any bigger than a cupboard and washing in there was not easy. The toilet was jammed right up against the tiny hand sink. However, it was there, so was thankful!
- Dianna (8/5): Comfy room and close to Kew Gardens. - The room was comfortable, as was the bed and full bath. Very noisy neighbors, which wasn't the hotel's fault. But walls were sort of thin. and my room was above the pub. Close to Kew Garden entrances which was a priority for me. Got to spend my afternoon and some evening there. Staff were polite and helpful. Had to leave for airport, so did not experience breakfast. Proximity of noisy guests, slamming doors, etc.
- JOANNA (6/5): A nice base for Kew with pleasant staff and bar, but the room fell short of what was advertised. - The bedroom was clean with comfortable bedding. Bottled water was appreciated. Staff were polite and the bar area was pleasant. The location was very convenient for Kew. The bathroom was shabby with black mould and a drainage smell. The shower gel provided had run out. The room was quite hot. The appearance of the room was very different from the double room advertised on the website, much plainer and less elegant. Only two teabags were provided.
- Georgia (3/5): - Room was very hot.
Room felt dusty/musty
Window frames were slightly rotted
Bathroom light didn’t work properly
- Cynthia (10/5): Excellent food in the pub. Very helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again. - Location fantastic for the gardens Nothing
- Carol (7/5): Good location but needs some maintenance as currently not worth the money charged - Central location for our plans Looks tired - needs decorating and some things fixed eg tried to take a shower in the morning and the shower head fell off & pipe work coming through the tiles. Expensive for the quality/standard it currently is in - looked at booking same time next year and the same type of room is £60 more expensive at £225 than this year which was £166 - not worth that amount of money

- Maxim (1/5): - I didn’t have a chance to check in I booked this hotel at 21:50, however in this hotel there’s no 24 hours check in desk. So be careful if you want to check in after 22:30 or if your plans changed and you arrive later - you will not be able to check in.
And I have no idea how you can come back to the hotel when you need to be out after 22:30
- t (10/5): -
- David (8/5): Good service and staff - Location Needs updating
- Anna Makeeva (7/5): -
- Sharon (7/5): great location for train and Kew Gardens, rooms are above the pub, not noisy and food is good - Location is very good, handy for the train and just around the corner from Kew Gardens. Whilst it is above a pub, its not very noisy and im a light sleeper. There is no lift and quite a lot of stairs so wont suit everyone but well run and tidy and the food is very good. you have to actually go into the pub to check in which some people will not like to do but the staff are very friendly and as soon as you let them know you need to check in they come straight to the check in desk.
- Diana (9/5): Cute spot, perfect location! - Lovely staff and accommodating to my special eating limitations (gluten). NA
- Wolf (8/5): -
- Terence (7/5): -
- Anne (10/5): - Lovely room, fantastic location and very reasonable price. The manager was super- helpful. We arrived by bike and we're a bit worried about leaving them locked up outside overnight, so he let us wheel our bikes through the bar to their little back garden, so they'd be safe Shower controller has a bit of a mind of it's own
- Mel (8/5): As above - Great staff and location Decor was a bit tired and bathroom was damp due to no fan. Could of been cleaner
- Lisa Cobley (10/5): -
- Jacqueline (3/5): No sleep :( - Location excellent
Housekeeping cleaning good Mold in room and on curtains
Small carpet moths in room
Bed ok but pillows felt like sand/cement bags
- Martyn (6/5): Appropriate for what we did. - Convenient
- Neville (7/5): Would probably stay there again short term - Nice friendly staff
Room was ok for what we paid
Ideal position for tube station and very nice area No car park but managed to find one within reasonable distance from property
- Indira (9/5): Super staff and location - The staff were so welcoming and helpful. The meals were very good. The location is great for Kew Gardens and local transport networks work well to Allianz stadium and also in to central London. -
- Guest (7/5): -
- Greta (9/5): -
- Brigitte (8/5): -
- David (7/5): Good location, ideal for a day or night out in Kew - Location good. Not far from the station with small market and good independent shops. No frills. Would stay again. On the small side, but fine.
- Martin (10/5): Friendly staff -
- Sharon (8/5): Great location and easy to find. No lift but plenty of rest areas and hand rails. Rooms have everything you would want - Handy for new job. Pub below is lovely and so is the food. Not noisy at all during the week which is great Lack of lift but it’s an old building so no where to house one
- Charles (9/5): - Great breakfast. Very friendly staff. Convenient for Kew Gardens, Kew Gardens Station and the National Archives.
- Rosy (8/5): - Fantastic location
- Helen (8/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): - Loved my room this trip.
Best bar around, roomy but cosy, with lounge seats and plenty of tables. Great for socialising. Good stay. Some of the rooms can be small, but I lucked out this time, great room!
- James (10/5): -
- Lyndsey (8/5): -
- Sue (3/5): I have photographs but they are on my phone so can I email them? We found the hotel very disappointing, I paid for this - Location and staff Inside it was very tired looking, the stair carpet was threadbare in a few places, the walls in our room (2) were grubby, the furniture old and the windows are ill fitting so that there was a cold draught coming into the room and we couldn’t get it warm. It was supposed to be a superior room and although the bedding and towels were spotless the rest of the room wasn’t what we would class as superior
- Caitlin (8/5): - Great location and lovely place to stay. Close to Kew Gardens, the station and lots of local places to shop and eat. Highly recommend. The reception was often unstaffed but bar people were helpful.
- Graham David (9/5): -
- carl (8/5): -
- AThacker (8/5): - The location is excellent, in a quiet street a few minutes' walk from Kew Gardens. My room was a comfortable double room with an immaculately clean bathroom, and the staff were friendly and pleasant. I cannot think of anything.
- Jan (6/5): Could have been better - Excellent situation in Kew Village Under Heathrow flight path which made sleeping difficult. Bedroom very warm and stuffy even though heating switched off
Very small range of breakfast, no fruit, cereals etc
- David (9/5): Great location and staff. Breakfast is excellent. Room needs a bit of TLC. I'd stop here again. - Stopped 4 nights midweek. Location for Kew Gardens and The National Archives is superb. The staff are all excellent. Breakfast is excellent, plenty of choice and quality food, very well cooked and presented. Had a few drinks, all good. Room was a good size and shower was very good. Bed, bedding, pillows all good. Tea, coffee, fresh water/biscuits daily. Fresh towels daily if required. I'd certainly stop here again. Room needs a bit of TLC, was pretty battered to be be honest. Holes in the wall where the headboard used to be, scuff marks and grazes everywhere on the walls, just wasn't a good look. Had to get my head past it after I'd first walked in, as it didn't look like the advertised photo. I did ask on my last morning whether the room was due to be refurbed but didn't really get an answer. Hope it does as I wouldn't want them losing repeat business, however, it wouldn't put me off stopping again.
- Louise (6/5): Bathroom filthy, hairs everywhere, floor & tiles dirty, toilet stained. - Location Cleanliness
- Christopher (3/5): -
- Elizabeth (3/5): Great location but shabby hotel with an uncomfortable bed, pillows etc. very poor value for money. Such a shame as it’s - The location and bar The room was shabby, unclean, bed was rock hard, pillows terrible. Would have been more comfortable camping
- Horsburgh (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff
- Rebecca (8/5): Good value. really close to Kew Gardens - Really convenient for our party near the river and for getting the tube into London.
Easy to check in and check out. Nice breakfast. Comfortable rooms. OK for us but stairs up to bedrooms might not suit some
- RobLV (8/5): -
- Mark (9/5): Visiting Kew Chiswick- this is the place to stay - Great location ambience and super helpful staff.
Great food and comfortable room with bath and excellent shower.
- Fiona (9/5): We wanted to go to Kew gardens so it was great location and easy to get to on tube😄 - Friendly accommodating staff.
Clean
Breakfast and dinner really good. Decor was bit tired but everything else was great .
- Neil (8/5): Good overnight stat - Room was good, staff very helpful. Great location Food was not so great. Desert was poor although starters very tasty and mains ok. Coffee at breakfast came from a flask and was stale. Otherwise breakfast was acceptable.
- Suriya (10/5): -
- Dawn (5/5): Convenient location - The location was perfect for Kew Gardens Station and Kew Gardens The bed was very uncomfortable. Limited choice for breakfast. No fruit, yogurt or cereal. Some areas especially the stairs were thread bare. Our room (4) was superior double room but quite small and carpet not hoovered around the radiator.
Decor needs updating to remove marks on the wall.
- Lynn (7/5): Great and I would return - Really central, clean and had everything I needed. Excellent breakfast and friendly and helpful staff Lamp didn’t work, tv reception was patchy and the window didn’t fully shut
- Yuko (8/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): Perfect stopover near Heathrow for our last night in the UK. - Great location, charming building, excellent restaurant.
- SUSAN (8/5): Perfect - Perfect location for visiting Kew Gardens, and close to tube; staff welcoming and accommodating, very attentive; food and service good; room nice. All good, nothing to complain about
- DAVID (6/5): Good stay - Friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in a superior room, clean , comfortable bed and plenty of hot water. Tea and coffee facilities
Room cleaning available every day if wanted.
Room on side of hotel so quiet
Breakfast choice limited but good. Brilliant location for Kew Some holes in wall behind bed where headboard had been removed.
- Michael (9/5): A very comfortable hotel with good facilities and excellent nearby restaurants, shops and transport. - Everything, from the friendly staff to the choice of beers in the bar. The location was excellent, close to the Tube and well within walking distance of Kew and the Gardens. Nothing.
- Anzors (9/5): Excellent location for Kew Gardens - Close to Kew Gardens Noise from landing airplanes….
- vázquez (10/5): - La ubicación era inmejorable. Limpio y acogedor.
- Ashling (10/5): - I loved this hotel. I thought my room was tastefully decorated, the bed was comfortable, I liked not having to bring my own hairdryer, the shower gel, shampoo, handwash all smelt lovely, and the pub below was fantastic, with a cool, relaxed vibe, stylish decor and delicious food. I really had a lovely time there.
- Clair (10/5): A perfect night away convenient location for Kew Gardens & the tube. - Dinner in the restaurant was great the atmosphere was relaxed our room was a good size & had everything we needed.
Beds were comfortable
Bathroom products provided were a luxury & high end as were the tea bags & coffee machine.
A very well thought out room It was a tad hot as heating was on.
the bathroom window wouldn’t stay open after showering to take the steam away.
- Martin (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- John (7/5): Third time we have stayed will think about a fourth - Good room linen great Monday stay dinner no fish and chips although
On menu.
Tuesday breakfast no salmon although on menu
also with pancake advertised coconut yogurt not available !
- richard (5/5): To hot and felt let down by the hotel staff - The location The radiator was stuck on at max and the room was very hot, complained but to be honest nothing was done as the controller was not fitted properly.
- Caroline (8/5): massive improvement on previous stay - I stayed here before and was disappointed with the attitude of the breakfast waitress and the noisy aircon in the bathroom which couldn't be switched off. I stayed here again because it is a really convenient location for TNA and this stay was so much better. The staff at breakfast could not have been better. They were really polite, attentive and cheerful. I feel so much better now about staying here. Still a noisy fan in the bathroom, though not so noisy in this room as the one I had last time
- Steven (8/5): Welcoming and helpful staff. Was the perfect location for where we needed to be. - Good breakfast, good location close to rail station Could do with an update, new carpets, decoration as looks a bit tired but in the whole a pleasant stay.
- Gary (9/5): Did all we needed it to do - Lovely friendly helpful staff. We had a good evening meal complete with an attentive waiter. The hotel’s position is perfect for Kew Gardens and made attending an event a walkable proposition. The bedroom fittings were a little tired and the hotel only served cooked breakfasts.
- Helen (8/5): Beautiful hotel, in a great location! - We loved the area of Kew! The hotel was quaint and comfortable. The staff was very helpful! Convenient to the train station! No elevator! Not unexpected for a building built in 1900. Wasn’t a problem except when bringing luggage up and down.
- Denis (10/5): - Great location for visiting Kew Gardens. Easy to find from the station, also. Luxury towels. Really nothing.
- RobLV (10/5): -
- Paul (7/5): It’s fine, but needs improvements. - It has good public transport links. The staff were very friendly and made my stay. It’s tired and needs renovating. The carpets are frayed, the paintwork isn’t great, and the fixtures have seen better days.
- Michael (9/5): Perfect location & friendly welcome. - The location of this hotel is perfect for someone visiting Kew Gardens. 1 minute walk from Kew Village & the Underground. 2 minute walk to Victoria Gate Kew Gardens. Perfect. Their restaurant menu & bar area is lovely. Would recommend the curry. Loved the old sash window in my room. A lovely setup in general. Friendly bar staff. Plug in heater handy option to have but room was warm anyway. Hotel beds should slways have headboards & windowsill needs to be painted (full of cracked paint). Needs a bit of TLC that's all.
- RobLV (10/5): - Free parking, close to tube and rail, great food and drink, great rooms.
- Victoria (9/5): -
- Huw (5/5): The location is great and we always enjoy our visits to London - The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable. Room 21 needs attention the bathroom is in need of a refurb. there is no where to keep toiletries in the bathroom, it could do with a shelf. I realise that there was a big rugby match on, but for £390 for two nights seems excessive for this room. ( Breakfast not included) .This hotel is in real need of a major refurbishment.
- Ray (8/5): - Great location and very friendly staff. Although extremely comfortable, the hotel does need upgrading.
- Justyna (8/5): -
