Mark (10/5): Stunning base to travel the Cultural Triangle from! Highly recommend!! - A sensational hotel in the most beautiful of settings. Ideal base if wanting to see the stunning sites in the Cultural Triangle. Felt as if we were on safari looking through the bedroom window! Stunning gardens and wonderful fountain topped pool! From the moment we arrived we were treated incredibly well, even a traditional welcoming ceremony. The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They all went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Lahiru the manager was always super helpful and kind and organised early breakfast bags for our early trips, he also made sure that our dietary needs as a Coeliac were absolutely catered for. Costa and Daiminda our waiters were so helpful, kind and reassuring, we felt so looked after. Aamith the lovely pool guy and gardener worked so hard, even shimmied up a tree to cut us a coconut and bless him, got up at 5am to carry our bags to reception! Thoroughly recommend this lovely hotel and its staff. Nothing!! Everything was wonderful!!

Nous avons eu des cafards dans la chambre… petit déjeuner en supplément et très cher, nous sommes allés déjeuner ailleurs.

Merci à l’operation manager avec qui nous avons échangé avant notre arrivée retardée à cause d’un train et qui nous a attendu et fait livrer le dinner dans notre chambre. Aussi, il s’est occupé de réserver notre scooter pour l’avoir clé en main dès le lendemain de notre arrivée tardive. Merci à Nimasha aussi à la réception pour son hospitalité et sa gentillesse. Rien.

Unfortunately, spa and wellness ( which is listed on booking) is currently not open but Mr. Lahiru went above and beyond to have it resolved in the most convenient way for us. All the staff makes you feel very welcome with their extraordinary behavior. I can recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax in the nature.

The entire staff goes above and beyond to care for their guests; they are consistently smiling, cheerful, and always ready to help with anything we needed. A special thank you must go to the manager, Lahiru. He is the definition of the right person in the right place. Lahiru assisted us with every query, even the most unusual or challenging ones—truly nothing seemed impossible for him. His approach is highly professional, yet fundamentally human and genuine. His dedication made our stay seamless and memorable. We also want to acknowledge Nimasha from the reception team. She is wonderfully open, easily connects with guests, and genuinely cares about their experience. Her friendly demeanor added so much to our welcome. This beautiful location, nestled in nature, is made exceptional by its people. It's also a great base for exploring the nearby wonders of Dambulla and Sigiriya. We highly recommend this hotel—you will arrive as a guest and leave as a friend!

Jeg (10/5): Excellent stay, would stay here again. - It was a great place to stay. We had a warm welcome by the drummer and the staff, lighting the lamp in the traditional way. The rooms were spacious, clean with comfi beds. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. In particular, Sulochana Disanayeka was very helpful and attentive. Nimasha the receptionist was very helpful too. They both went out of their way to help us. The laundry service was excellent, washed all our cloths at a very short notice. They really went out of their way that night to get it all done the next morning. Really appreciated the service. Breakfast was excellent.
Katharina (7/5): Holpriger Start mit gelungenem Aufenthalt. - Tolles Empfangsritual, schöner Pool mit Wasserspielen und nettem Personal. Die Lage ist gut, Nahe der Nationalparks und Sigiriya. Zu Beginn wollte man uns mehr als abgemacht berechnen. Kann natürlich ein Versehen gewesen sein. Das Frühstück ist in Ordnung aber nicht wirklich abwechslungsreich.

Ute (9/5): Tolle Tage im Habarana - Das Hotel hat einen wunderschönen Garten mit einem großen, topgepflegten Pool. Unser Zimmer war sehr groß und hatte ein Zimmer mit Verbindungstür für die Tochter. Das Personal ist super freundlich Der Kleiderschrank im Zimmer riecht nicht gut, ich wollte meine Sachen nicht hineinlegen. Das Essen in Büfettform besteht aus Sri Lanka Essen und westlichen Essen. Die sri lankesischen Speisen waren mir und meiner Tochter durchgehend zu scharf- ihre Qualität können wir nicht einschätzen. Die westlichen Gerichte sind vielfältig, aber oft ist das Fleisch zu trocken, die Pasta zu weich und die Gerichte auch die Salate haben zu viel Pfeffer. Ein tolles Dessertbüffett mit viel Obst 👍 aber Kuchen und Mousse sollten mehr nach den Früchten schmecken, die draufstehen.

Fantastic location to explore some key historical and heritage sites of Sri Lanka. Don’t forget the elephants too! Not much. Would have liked room service. But didn’t ask. They might have had it.
Mark (9/5): Prettig hotel met mooi zwembad en zeer vriendelijk personeel. - Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel (Nimasha, Srithar). Gastvrije ontvangst met speciale welkomstceremonie. Het hotel ligt net iets te ver buiten het stadje om 's avonds terug te lopen (in het donker). Je bent dan wel genoodzaakt om een Tuktuk te nemen, maar de kosten zijn laag.

They organized fantastic tours, threw a surprise birthday party for my wife with decorations and smiles all around – all at no extra cost. Guy (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location for Cultural triangle (Sigirya, Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Dambulla). We stayed for 3 nights. Fabulous, huge pool, great food and comfy rooms. Thank you especially to Costa, Sulochana and Chef Sudarshana. Highly recommend.

Michelle (8/5): Good accommodation for the price! - For the price, this place is clean if a little tired We enjoyed our 3 night stay here. The staff are lovely if not a little too attentive at times. The sunbeds need some cushions! We didn't stay around the pool much but they were rock hard wooden ones and not very comfy! The breakfast was adequate but it is so cheap to each out so we only had breakfast their once.

Mark (3/5): Bad end to our stay - Service from most of the staff was polite and helpful. When leaving, the hotel overcharged us for two extra meals, which we did not have (and clearly hadn't signed for). Once I returned, one of the staff members questioned my integrity and told me we did in fact have those extra meals. This accusation was false and made me feel uncomfortable. After some time calling other staff and going through the bills over and over again, they refunded me the amount. The same staff member then came running out to ask our driver whether he had stayed in our room, thinking that we hadn't paid for his stay. This was also not the case, and quite embarrassing for our driver (he stayed somewhere else). Regardless of how our stay was otherwise, this was an unpleasant end and it left a bad impression.

Thecameronclan (9/5): Superb - The staff were brilliant. Very kind and helpful. The room was very nice and the bed comfortable. The grounds are beautiful lots of amazing plants. The buffet was fine but tried to cater for western tastes too much. It was a shame that there was no other choice of food.

Despite having a lovely pool & gardens the balconies all faced in the other direction looking at a fence - just an odd design. Rooms basic and lacked anany touches of luxury.

The gardens around the swimming pool were well maintained. The room was a little tired and the water supply to the sink was almost non-existent.

Emma (7/5): Friendly staff, lovely pool, expensive and terrible food - Lovely pool area and spacious rooms, staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was awful. International buffet was VERY expensive and only served western food that the chefs didn’t know how to cook, the food quality was terrible. Breakfast was terrible too, lovely fruit but everything else very poor. A real shame as due to the location of the property there were no restaurants within walking distance, so it meant a 2km tuk tuk ride to get food, which although not very far meant you had to leave the site every night, despite there being a restaurant there.

Delan (10/5): - Spent two nights, 3 days at this property recently while touring around at Pinnawela, Sigiriya, Dambulla and Minneriya. Great location to visit all those sites. Excellent service with a smile. Buffets were plentiful and delicious, great variety. Pool was so relaxing and lush gardens that were well kept really felt like paradise. Disappointed after Covid there is no spa/massage option as that would have been perfect. Stayed in a large room with separate room with door. 2 adults, 3 teens. Teens loved the food, pool and lush gardens. Special mention to Ravi and Felix who were very attentive to us during our stay.
Shai (9/5): Great place for families but don't count on the food - It is a great resort in the middle of the nature. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the pool is great and the full experience of the facilities is relaxing and comfortable. Very good for families with kids that wants yo relax while enjoying the activities around Habarana The breakfast was not good, it is a buffet with enough options but everything was just not very tasty. Even a descent coffee was hard to find. The staff is very nice but a bit too pushy for us, we prefer to be left alone in our vacation rather then being flooded with help efforts.
Rebecca (10/5): Fab stay - The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help us and our children. We loved the pool, the lush gardens, the swings, the gym and the family room was excellent. Egg station and breakfast was very good. Waffles and french toast very nice too. Dinner had good mix of curry and western options - bread and lasagne were very good too. Kids enjoyed the fish tanks and the chipmunks and wildlife in the gardens. Stayed 2 nights (nearby elephant safari, Sigiria and cultural exploring) but a 3rd night to chill at the hotel would have been perfect. The bed was a little hard but that's personal taste.

Il giardino é dotato di una bella piscina pulita, ottima per rilassarsi a fine giornata. Letti comodi e le stanze pulite. L'unica cosa da migliorare é la connessione wi-fi.

Nadeesha (10/5): My stay at the Sungreen resort was delightful! - This is my second time at the Sungreen resort. As I expected, the food was exceptional, with menu that included a variety of Sri Lankan and Western dishes. The service throughout my stay was outstanding and welcoming. The hotel's location is convenient, making it easy to go on safari and visit Sigiriya, Dambulla temple, Ritigala, and more. I highly recommend this hotel. Nothing.

Paula (10/5): Lovely peaceful location, friendly staff, a wonderful place. - Lovely pool, accommodation clean and spacious, lovely and staff friendly. Short Tuk tuk away from village. Close to safari and Sigiriya rock. Nothing. Couldn’t fault it.
Karen (9/5): A great stay, perfect location for Sigiriya, Dambulla and Minneriya - The grounds are really well maintained and give a lovely secluded feel, and are lit up at night. The staff were all excellent and very helpful, they gave us a traditional welcome with candles, drink and drummer, and went out of their way to help us with transport and trips as well as special Sri Lankan curry. The food was all really nice too.
Muhummad (10/5): Recommend for all families - Beautiful resort with extremely peaceful environment. Perfect for families to relax and enjoy! They have a wonderful pool which our 3 kids really enjoyed after returning from an early morning trek to Sigiriya Lion Rock. They upgraded our room for free and entire staff was smiling and super helpful. I even received a 15% discount on carbonated beverages on check out. The fish aquariums were stunning sight upon entry! All good things to say about the whole experience!

n (10/5): Fabulous stay. - Stayed two nights and was very impressed. Greeted in reception by a Kandyan dancer which is a nice touch and a great photo opportunity. Staff on reception very welcoming and efficient. Room immaculate and very comfortable. First time in Sri Lanka seeing double glazed windows. Very peaceful. Costa and Vinod in the restaurant were extremely helpful. I gave 4/5 for eco friendliness only because plastic drinking straws are used. That really is the only improvement I can recommend. Pool is big and beautiful and pool boy very helpful. A great value independent hotel with staff who are committed to giving great service. Will definitely return.

Hiranda (10/5): Overall the staff is excellent. The service is awesome. - Still properly maintained even though most of the hotels around the location is not properly maintained. There was a slightly leaking tap in the bathroom.
Sujeewa (8/5): Very good - Family room has 2 large beds, with one in a separate partitioned room. Swimming pool is pretty good. Staff are generally very friendly. Rooms are a bit dated. Food in general is average and not worth the money compared to eating from outside.
