- Christopher (10/5): - We had a two night room only stay, the staff were very good, very helpful. The room was v warm, clean and comfortable. The shower was superb very powerful with lots of hot water. Hotel location very good for access although we walked into Pontyclun through the grounds on several occasions (a very pleasant twenty minute walk). A pity the leisure facilities were unavailable but we were informed the hotel was in the process of securing a new owner. We stayed in The Cottages and found them to be perfect for our requirements, the main hotel decor and ambience was very enjoyable as it is a listed property with lots of character and on a par with Highclere castle (albeit Highclere castle you cannot sit down end enjoy a drink in the main lounge in). Overall an excellent stay and we would stay there again in future, thank you Miskin Manor team.
- CHRISTOPHER (4/5): Lovely staff, hotel has seen much better days. - Had booked specifically to use the spa - only to be told on check-in that had been closed since October. No mention of this previously. Also the hotel has gone into administration & it shows. No fault of the staff - who were lovely. But unless you're getting a really cheap offer here - I'd avoid.

- Alan (6/5): - The Grounds and House look nice, the Bar and Breakfast were good but the room was tired had damp on the walls around the window and the shower was a minuscule trickle. That said the stay was ok and the bar/lounge is a lovely room to sit!
- Andrew (8/5): - The hotel is based in an historic manor house and is a beautiful setting. It could really do with a proper clean in places but overall it is very impressive to walk into. I booked a standard room which turned out to be a "cottage". These are a set of brick out-buildings which do afford privacy and quiet - ours was extremely cold and the heating and hot-water did not work. The reception staff were very apologetic and luckily for us there was a late cancellation in the main building so they moved us to a superior room. That room was very spacious with a 5 piece en-suite. Again, it could have done with a bit of a clean - some cobwebs and lady-bird bugs had taken up residence in the windows. Nevertheless an enjoyable and relaxing stay. I hope the new owners can rectify the few little issues as it would be a shame for the place to close.
- JOHN (4/5): Needs updating - The health club and spa were closed and we weren’t told until the day before our stay. The shower was very poor and they just said that it was due to old plumbing. The food was good but quite limited and the bar was running dry.
- Michaela (4/5): Disappointed - Was very disappointed with the state of the hotel! It was tired and cold. Upon arrival reception kept us waiting while she did some ‘filing’ we booked a four poster bedroom with bath. We were shown a normal room without bath. When I said it was the wrong room, they moved us to another room, with bath but no four poster bed. Went down for dinner, the dining room was cold dark and unwelcoming. There were buckets all over the hotel catching leaks. All in all a treat turned into a bit of a nightmare. Will not be returning
- Robert (8/5): Sweet and Sour. - It was our Golden Wedding Anniversary, our son rang ahead to request a bottle of Prosecco for our room & our evening meal billed to him. On arrival at 14.30 we checked in and relaxed in our room with a glass of fizz or two, we went down for dinner at 18.00. Our meal, the staff and service were faultless. After our meal we purchased another bottle of Prosecco to take back to our room, 😱 shock, horror, £32.95, that ruined our evening. We had a great breakfast Sunday morning before leaving for home. Speaking to my son at home ref, the cost of Prosecco he says, "it's a lot more than that when someone else takes it to your room for you" 😡 PS. I was also charged twice and am now awaiting a refund.
- Philip (2/5): - On arrival we discovered the spa facilities had gone into administration and werent available. The room wS cold and dusty. Ved linen dirty. Evening meal was good but choice extremely limited. In the mornimg we went for breakfast only to be told the chef hadnt turned up and so cereL/muesli etc the only option. Offered a bottle of wine in compensation which didnt feel a satisfactory gesture.

There are are few things that would have improved our stay - knowing that the leisure facilities are closed so the swimming pool advertised as available is not. We were not advised on booking that having a travel cot in the room would be an extra charge, the staff were accommodating on check-in on this. We also received a phone call after hours (9pm) from reception. Clean room and nice breakfast.

Bedroom spacious , clean, comfortable and warm, small steps between the bedroom and bathroom would have been safer with a grab rail on the wall. Reception rooms were very cold in the evening, facilities for log fires were not being used (-5*C outside). Menu for evening meal was limited, but food,service and presentation good. Breakfast good. Reception staff very good, helpful cheerful and courteous, bar and kitchen staff good. Problems with new payment system not working properly. Hotel currently in administration,would stay again when sorted out.

- Chelsea (10/5): - Best Kept Secret!.. Wow this place made such an impact on me I will be talking about this place for years to come. If you love your history, privacy, and quiet outdoors surrounded by beautiful gardens and woodlands? .. this place is for you. I felt like I had lived there many lifetimes ago. The staff are all so friendly and happy to help. If you are an early riser, get your shoes on and take a morning walk around the grounds its just wonderful. Also has the facilities for weddings etc. We stayed in the Price of Wales Suite. The morning Breakfast Buffet is very good too.

Would definitely stay again and explore the grounds when it’s not raining! Warm and comfortable and our requests were listened to and dealt with.
- Katie (8/5): - The property is a beautiful old buliding, the bed was very comfortable and the staff were lovely, i arrived just as food service stopped but the evening receptionist went above and boyond to see what they could do for me, which was greatly appreciated after a long day! The only negative i have was that the mugs in the room hadnt been changed, one had lipstick stains and the other still had some coffee or tea residue at the bottom but the bathroom had antibac soap and searing hot water so not the end of the world as was able to wash them up but the only downside to an otherwise pleasant stay.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Great staff however lacking polish - The huge positive was that the staff were warm and friendly, however there were quite a few niggles. They only took cash which luckily we had enough of to pay as we weren’t warned before our stay. Our key card didn’t work (a known problem), then we had to get a key instead,the power then wasn’t coming on and we needed some sort of plastic ‘key’. The Wi-Fi was abysmal and the area having virtually no mobile service meant there was a lack of internet. There was hair in the sink and on the toilet and the towels looked dated. It was also difficult to find staff about. In addition on our second night there were some very noisy guests who arrived back quite late, they could be heard easily above us and disturbed our sleep. For the price it wasn’t brilliant considering the issues but being one of the only hotels in the area, particularly that accepts dogs, then it’s still somewhere you’d probably consider if you needed to stay in that location
- Mike (6/5): - Driving up through the winding private driveway to the splendor of the main building filled me with anticipation of a most comfortable and luxurious stay. The room was quaint and rustic but afforded all the necessities of an overnight stay you would expect. There could have been a better effort to clean the room prior to my stay as I noticed some webs and spiders so the cleanliness could have been better in that regard. The most annoying part of the accommodation was the toilet. It was obviously and older style to fit in with the rest of the décor but the lever needed just the right force and speed to activate the flush otherwise the was just a trickle as relinquished by the discretion of the cistern so you were looking at 5-6 flushes on average. A decent night's sleep was followed by breakfast. The food was pleasant enough once it eventually arrived. For a dining area which was not full by any stretch, the time taken once I was seated to both take my order and then provide my food was done at a pace which would insult most glaciers. From there it was a rush to get out at a decent time so I went to check out in a hurry only to be told that there was no working card machine and as the booking was not paid for via the website I used, then it was cash only. As I pay for my accommodation using a company credit card, this put me in a bind. We eventually agreed that I would be contacted once a card machine was in use to pay over the phone but this was yet another inconvenience.

- Tony (4/5): Disappointing - I had 3 rooms booked last week on arrival to one of the rooms it wasnt made up and warmish water the orher room discoloured water and no hot water and had to be moved and in total had 3 room moves no food on monday evening no hot water from wednesday to friday. Also been told that the company is in liquadation. Building beautiful rooms disgraceful.
- NOEL (2/5): Hopeless - Paid £90 for double room drove from kent to south wales to be met by this lady who explained the hotel had no electricity no hot water or heating told me the vale hotel might have spare rooms thay had 1 at the cost of £179 i just feel like i was scammed

The plug in the bath was also broken and the bathroom door didn’t shut. The restaurant- lets just say it needs improvement. The decor is unique, the chairs are uncomfortable and the service appalling! 50 mins for a disappointing banana split!
- Peter (4/5): Wedding stay - We were attending a friends wedding at the venue so chose to stay, the cost seemed fairly reasonable considering we were there for an event however the room was very basic with a four poster bed in it. The tap in the bathroom was labelled 'not drinking' with no alternative available, there was no mention of this at check in. The instant coffee in the room was gone off and the sugar was from McDonalds! The shower pressure was non-existent and the cold tap went to warm at the coldest setting. There was no option to reduce the temperature in the room other than the opening of the single window.

- June (10/5): - Old, haunted but beautiful property. Breakfast was lovely, huge range of options and very tasty. Evening meals menu limited but the fish & chips was gorgeous and not badly priced compared with surrounding pubs. Staff friendly and very obliging. We were in room 10, very roomy for three adults. Floors creaky but to be expected for 10th century!! Parking was easy and grounds are lovely. Would definitely recommend.

- j (4/5): Disappointed - Disappointing stay at a premium price hotel. Thought our bed was going to collapse, no air conditioning or fans. Didn't sleep during our stay as it was too hot. No starters on dinner menu and I think there was only a choice of 6 items to choose from. So overall very disappointed. We won't be back!!

- Geoffrey (6/5): - Liked the period property and situation. Very disappointed that there was no formal dinner menu. We were celebrating a Wedding Anniversary and ended up having the whole dining room to ourselves with a limited choice of five main courses - including 2 curries and fish and chips. We had to put the kettle on the floor to make a hot drink as the flex was not long enough to leave it on the Table. We had problems with the shower in the bathroom. No guidance on the use of the shower and the water temperature was difficult to control. The heated towel rail was very hot and a danger to everyone - especially children and older people. We chose to stay at Miskin Manor from our past knowledge of the Hotel and services. We will not stay there again . Staff were very polite and helpful. The standards however made us question the Management of the Hotel.
- Sian (6/5): - The toilet broke in the night and wouldn’t flush. Went for breakfast at 9.15 and there was very little choice left. Had a glass of orange juice only to realise there was lipstick on the glass, not mine. The pool facilities closed at 5.45 would be nice for a later swim.

I couldn’t use the cups in our room they had door stains on them . The shower head in our room needed replacing . The breakfast was great and the exterior /outdoor areas are beautiful.

- Anita (8/5): Nice stay - Enjoy staying at miskin Manor we have stayed several times now but noticing the decline a little unfortunately. Always waiting at the bar to be served and it's cold throughout the hotel this time of year and are room was cold but it's a big old place so understandable. Walking back from the gym in the dark was quite interesting as there isn't any lights partly along the path used by cars with road humps so had to use my torch on my phone to get back to the hotel. Waited a long time for are meal to come out normally would have warm rolls brought out whilst waiting but nothing when asked was told didn't have any or triple cooked chips as stated on menu with are meal but did offer wedges instead so was ok. Would be nice to have one other vegan option as always have to have the vegan burger on are stay. Empty bird feeders with mouldy seed outside the window that we filled up are self before we left with new seed. Breakfast is always good staff friendly so we will return especially to see dude the resident cat. It's not easy running a hotel that old.

- Dirk (4/5): Not great - The Hotel looked amazing from the outside, i understand its an old property. The reception was really slow, they would answer the phone and then go and action whatever whilst leaving the guests standing there. The room was clean but the bathroom wasn't great, the shower had no water pressure at all and it was pointless trying to have a shower, my colleagues room was exactly the same. The toilet kept dripping, there was no fans or A/C so needed to open the windows which meant listening to the M4 all night, the mattress wasn't great either. I didn't complain as we arrived after 1900 and decided to work longer so we didn't have to stay the 2nd night. Went for some food in the bar, limited drinks available as some barrels were empty, limited non meat options, ordered a sandwich and chips, sandwich was made with stale bread. Breakfast was really good though. The problem was i paid £144 a night and it really wasn't worth it. Sorry.
- Mario (6/5): Nice from the outside - I booked it because it had a pool but on arrival I was informed that it was closed. Room was cold and TV was not working abut was resolved by staff. I ordered a bar meal in the evening but there was nowhere to sit in the bar area so sat in restaurant. Although I asked to see the restaurant menu but I was provided the same menu as the bar?? Meal took an age to arrive and nothing to write home about. Overall I was disappointed.
- Jordan (4/5): Cold ….. very cold - The hotel is a little run down, leaky roof spots with buckets in the corridors isn’t a great look, the grounds are also extremely dark so it’s difficult to see where you’re driving and or walking but the main issue was the room temperature, it was freezing, the radiator was on but not hot enough, towel radiators were not on either which is the only source of heating for the bathroom so that was very cold too. Breakfast was served in a cold room with everyone positioned as close to the open fire as possible
- Christopher F (6/5): Miskin Manor - a bit disappointing - Having known this hotel for over 20 years was saddened to find standards have slipped - maybe staff related. The bedroom and bathroom had not been cleaned properly, cobwebs on walls and ceilings, toothmug in bathroom left with dried toothpaste inside, inside of bathroom cabinet stained from water overflow and not cleaned. At breakfast tables had ben set up in the Minstrels Gallery room, used for a party the night before, unswept floor with mess all over from the party. no cloths on tables, beat up conference chairs with paint peeled off - realy shabby. Otherwise very comfortable and a lovely spot, but needs quite a lot of attention to basic housekeeping and standards.
- Bethan (2/5): - Terrible stay this time, was freezing cold in room had to move rooms but still hardly any heat coming from radiator , shower just trickled warm water , very disappointed with our stay 😫
- NEIL (6/5): Miskin Manor - Nice stay, however the place was very cold in lots of the public area. Breakfast was cold. Pool very cold, sauna, steam room not working. Nice evening meal
- Grant (6/5): OK but not great! - Hotel and setting is fabulous. Used to stay there a lot some years ago….not up to the standards of previous. Room looked a bit tired and the “little things” weren’t great. No bin in the room, very limited tea / coffee / sugar, 1 part loo roll only. No toiletries. A towel rail had clearly come off the wall - it hadn’t been repaired. Vanity lights didn’t work. It was clean and comfortable which is always the main thing, but for the money charged it was a bit disappointing
- Kristi (2/5): Highly disappointed. Would not recommend. - A really disappointing stay. After travelling the whole week in a motorbike we decided to book a luxury night here. First of all the shower didn’t work… you could have a freezing cold shower with good pressure or a nice warm/hot shower with less pressure than a tap. Reception couldn’t do anything till morning and we were assured that it’d be looked at first thing… it didn’t get resolved. No shower. Breakfast was the worst buffet, poor quality food, poor selection, poor taste. The coffee was vile, definitely burnt and stale. If I’d have know it wasn’t a proper cooked breakfast I’d have never added it to our booking. The breakfast room was also plastered with strange paintings the owner had painted. Very odd decor overall. Our four poster room however was beautiful. I had an email stating the pool and sauna facilities were not in use so didn’t shop for a swimsuit prior to arrival, only to be told it was actually in use, so couldn’t use these facilities. All in all definitely not worth the price and certainly not luxury.
- Matthew (8/5): Short stay - No air conditioning or fan to help cool the room, bathroom extraction intermittent, shower operation made difficult by operation on shower itself. Hot water extremely hot when ran for a few seconds. Room service fantastic, reception very good. Issues with key-card generator on stay, no problem for recpetion to let us in as and when. Light fittings loose in ceiling, small holes in bathroom flooring, dated landline. Overall, views, food and service make up for the lacking aspects elsewhere
- Alison (4/5): Disappointed - Arrived at 12 30pm had good coffee but were told could get a sandwich or anything to eat as too busy! Room was nice bed really comfortable. Keys for bedroom doors were not working! So had to be escorted to room. Shower cold and no pressure. Had to shower in another room! Breakfast buffet horrible and cold. Coffee terrible
- Calvin (10/5): - First class service and accommodating experience from the moment I’d realised a self made mistake in my itinerary that was promptly corrected at reception allowing our peaceful stay completely enjoyable. The grounds are superb making walks an absolute pleasure. Staff were very friendly from all areas which is always a plus in my books. Unfortunately the pool was closed, but this did not put us off and we were told it would be reopening in a couple of days anyway. Will be stating again in the near future and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking to check in here.
