- Stephanie (6/5): Jumping off for Bromo - The room is a concrete cube with a bed in it and about a foot and a half of space on two sides. The bathroom is a shared squat toilet.
I never found the shower, if they had one. The host, when I arrived, dropped me in my room without pointing it out, and when I came downstairs to ask everyone was gone and the property was locked. The air tasted like cigarettes and coal smoke from a small brazier the family was using in the living room when I arrived.
Weirdly though, this is a great place if you're in Cemoro Lawang just to see Bromo. If you're on foot it's the highest place to the top of the lookout point trail head.
Most importantly, a lot of the other hotels don't provide enough blankets, according to other travelers I met. This one had two.
Book here if you're checking in, dropping a bag, and leaving at 3:30 am to see the sunrise.
- Richard (2/5): To avoid, definitively - People not welcome at all.
Very dirty share bathroom.
No hot shower even if they said there is.
Only positive point, you don't feel cold in the very small bedroom
So price not in adequation with the room
Just avoid it
- Isobel (10/5): Great location and amenities ! - Me and my bf stayed here for one night ready to do the 3am sunrise Bromo walk without a tour . We were quite worried about booking a place in Cemoro Lawang after reading terrible reviews of most of the places (and nothing was particularly cheap!) inthe end found this place on hotels.com and it seemed OK and close to the entrance to Bromo. Really glad that we booked it as it worked out perfectly (we booked it last minute on the same day!!) We arrived late at like 9pm and without contacting them, somebody was waiting Up for us and showed us straight to our room no fuss or hassle. Basic room but everything u need - comfy bed with clean thick blankets, really good WiFi in the rooms, and surprisingly a hot shower! Basic hygiene nothing special but all the things you need are there. And it is less than 5 mins from national park. They also have food available too and let my bf use the kitchen at 3am to make a quick breakfast.
- Rachelle (6/5): Ideal location to base your Mt Bromo trip - This homestay is an addition to the original Inn Setia Kawan just up the road. I booked a private queen bedroom with private bathroom. The whole purpose of this homestay was to hike Mt Bromo crater (the village trail to cross the sand sea and to the crater is just up the road) and go to King Kong point so it did it’s purpose. The room was relatively clean and the bed was comfy. However, there were no toilet paper or towels. Luckily I had my own. They had good WiFi and hot shower. The toilet is a squat toilet, which is typical in Indonesia. Since it was just for a quick one night stay, it did it’s job. If you’re looking for a luxury stay, this place is not for you. It is a no frills accommodation so don’t expect too much. I only stayed here because it was just a place to crash before hiking for sunrise. It was ideal location with restaurants nearby and views of Mt Bromo just up the street.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bad Place - Avoid! - Very low quality hotel and rude staff. Completely inaccurate information regarding the room and facilities. Avoid at all costs.
