- John (8/5): Happy to return, very nice ambiance. - Superb traditional townhouse Kitchen was very limited, but why cook yourself in Kyoto…?
- Carol (10/5): Luxurious and relaxing stay - Absolutely beautiful and well presented. Love all the little nice touches (biscuits, tea set, bathrobes etc). Way above my expectations. None

- Yumi (10/5): Wish we stayed longer - Immersive into the culture
- Danielle (10/5): Highly recommend staying at this serene Japanese townhouse, we absolutely loved it! - It is in a very convenient location with bus stop close by and short taxi ride into heart of Kyoto. The host went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. We really appreciated this. Highly recommend! Nothing, we loved our stay!
- Carolin (10/5): -
- Kenny (10/5): - Beautiful property! Amazing stay and such an awesome part of history tied into this machiya house!
- Roberta (10/5): Staying there was truly a Japanese experience.just what we were wanting. - It’s authenticity N/A
- Rafael Daniel (8/5): Casa japonesa - Es una casa antigua y dormir es una experiencia que hay que tener. El personal muy amable. Está algo alejado para dar un paseo.
- Frank (9/5): - J'ai aimé l'ambiance 100% traditionnelle japonaise.
- Adi (8/5): - Good Japanese style house. Kuraya was very kind. Helped us with taking our clothes to the laundry Japanese breakfast was too wired for us and we were told we are unable to change it to a western breakfast.
- Patrick (3/5): Beautiful place in a bad location - This is a beautiful traditional Japanese home in very nice condition. Unfortunately it’s located on a very busy street with loud traffic that continues well into the night making it impossible to sleep, even with ear plugs. There is air conditioning only in one of the bedrooms. The owners seem to have adjusted the shower to only allow lukewarm water, so you won’t be taking a relaxing hot shower at the end of the day.
- Jorja (10/5): Absolutely recommend for anyone looking for a more traditional stay or even just a nice house. It was amazing - Beautiful combination of traditional and modern. It was very enjoyable and super exciting to stay in a more traditional place. Good location, only 20-30 minute walk from Kyoto station - wish it was a little bit closer but still in a good location!
- Yi (9/5): Superb -
- Dimalanta (9/5): Pleasant Japanese Lodge - The traditional Japanese lodge Not a good location for convenient store
- Paweł (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emilia (9/5): Superb - We had the whole house for us and it was very clean and enough toilets for all of us. It gave us a true experience of living in a traditional Japanese house with all the modern comforts. Very elegant and stylish. Very beautiful! The bus stop was very near by.. It did not have a washing machine. But a launderette is near
- Oliver (10/5): Incredibly stylish traditional Japanese stay - Incredibly stylish traditional Japanese stay, with a great breakfast.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - An amazing house, it was beautiful, spacious and very comfortable, was warned of noise from the street but barely noticed it.
- Cheraiti (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place loved it !
- Elizabeth (9/5): Wonderful authentic experience of Japan. - The traditional machiya gives us a taste of Japan. We also made several of our meals there which was convenient. The futon on the tatami was a little thin. I like thicker futon
- Simona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paranee (9/5): Superb -
- ksenia (4/5): - The property is located on a very busy street so with thin walls and windows we struggled to get a good sleep. The sunrise is quite early and the windows don’t have any curtains so bring eye masks. There is an air conditioner in one room, the other room gets very hot. We discovered there were bugs as we woke up with bugs bites, not sure if it were mosquitoes or bed bugs. The beds and pillows are quite hard and only one pillow per bed. No washing machine and the house is quite away from anything.
- Marieke (10/5): Great authentic Japanese apartment. A beautiful place. Good location and a nice neighborhood with plenty of good restaur - Great authentic Japanese apartment. A beautiful place. - Victor (10/5): Amazing traditional Japanese home - This place is amazing. Proper Japanese traditional home. Very well located, walking distance from the station. And in front of a massive temple. Quiet area. Highly recommend. Everything was great

- Kian (10/5): An excellent time - This is the perfect location if you want to experience spend your time in a traditional Japanese house, containing just enough modern comforts and old style charm to keep anyone interested in Japanese culture very happy with their stay, the bath and garden was an exceptional and Id highly recommend everyone who stays here to try it.
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hazukashï-chan (9/5): Superb - The house is well renovated and conformatble. The bath is the best part of the house.
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Very memorable stay, thrilled to experience living in traditional Japanese settings, only regret was our stay was too sh - Great traditional atmosphere with all the modern facilities. Slightly lacking in electrical outlets in bedroom for today’s traveller with many devices to charge.
- Audrey (8/5): Would highly recommend this stay. Extremely clean, traditional style house. Perfect stay for us. - The private onsen, our favorite! The traditional family room, and the green tea that greeted us was great! Bedrooms were nice. And two bathrooms was perfect. Great home, extremely clean and welcoming! It was a bit dark, more lighting would have been nice.
- Abdulwahab (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nawaf (7/5): Good - It is a nice vintage place Nothing to say
- Runjie (7/5): Good - The room itself is almost perfect. Beautifully designed Japanese house, loved the living room, garden and especially the hot tub(I used it every night). The Location is decent, very close to bus station, though not the most centered (or closest to travel sights). The one Kiyomizu Gojo might be better if you wish to cover as many sites as possible. The wood structured house is not soundproof at all. people sleeping in one room can hear others snoring in the other room. Also the room is facing a street, can be super loud at night. My mother is very sensitive to noise and has sleep issues. She had to changed to a hotel to get some sleep. For me, it was fine though. If you value sleep quality and quiet environment very much, this might not be your best choice.
- Chen (9/5): Was amazing: traditional aesthetic with very modern touches. Huge space - Location was very accessible by Kyoto bus (for those that haven't taken it before, it's actually easier than the train) as it was right in front of a bus stop. The actual machiya itself was gorgeous and modern but still had a lot of the old style charm. For a japanese house it was huge .. there was also a wonderful bath that had a window to the private yard. picturesque We did not get the door code until we met with a person who was only available at 30 minute slots. as I'm traveling internationally, getting to one place in a tight window is very aspirational.
- Martina (10/5): GREAT ACCOMODATION - this accomodation is insane! it’s huge, beautiful, super clean, there are no words to describe it! best accomodation ever! amazing!
- Emanuele (10/5): The house and the host are really amazing. It deserves a stop if you are in Kyoto. - The Japanese house is spectacular, as well as the small garden inside.
The kaiseki dinner offered in the deal is ideal to complete properly the experience.
The host is very kind and she was able to accomodate every our requests.
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional - unique japan house
- Hanyang (10/5): Exceptional - staff is very friendly. she helps us with the checkin process and introduce the room to us. the staff is also quite proactive too. the room is very cute, highly recommend to try this one. The hot water doesn’t work well sometimes.
- Chin (10/5): Exceptional -
