Outdoor private Onsen. Fabulous and very hot! Totally luxury and comfort. In room dining was brought served by the lovely Mao-san. She was gracious and fantastic throughout the meal. The sashimi and sea bream were outstanding. The Wagyu beef was next level. Add in a flight of Sake and you are feeling no pain! Chiaki-san provided all the pre arrival communication and made our arrival super easy. This place is fantastic! I should have stayed 2 nights.

A very good choice if you have a car, and an excellent location for exploring the Izu peninsula. I stayed in a Japanese style room and it was really nice! The room was great, the ocean view fantastic. The service was top notch and the food (in-room dining and breakfast) was simply over the top, both in terms of quality and quantity. The onsen is located on the top floor and it was quite an experience to go there in the moon light and, the next morning, in the full sun. - 668mimiy (10/5): Wonderful experience - I took my father in a wheelchair (he is in 70s and can walk just a little distance) with my mother and two sisters to this hotel in April 2018. I booked a room with a bath on the balcony which has an amazing view over the ocean that my parents are so pleased and appreciated. Since we are mother and three daughters, there was no way to take our father to the big bath in that hotel. I am so happy because my father could enjoy good hot tub and beautiful view from that bath in our hotel room with privacy. The hotel staffs are so helpful and nice. The dinner and the breakfast of this hotel were one of the most amazing experiences in my life. Those meals were served in our room by a staff who was so polite and well trained. He served our meal just in time from the beginning to the end. I am so impressed. Also, this hotel declines to accept tips. They say they just do their jobs. It is beautiful. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to have good foods, excellent hot spring and warm hospitality.
- mdoudoroff (10/5): Great “native” experience for the world traveler - This is a relatively large, deluxe contemporary “onsen ryokan” providing a luxurious night away for Tokyo families. It resembles a tower hotel, but the experience is different. When you arrive, you hand off your luggage (travel light—just what you need for a night or two) and sit down in the lounge for refreshments. Sooner or later, a staff member comes by and checks you, sorting any remaining details. Then you’re taken to your room and your luggage is delivered. The rooms have a foyer, showers (no tub), a large tatami room, a small sunken lounge area, and then a private balcony with hammock, chairs and table. The tatami room will be set up for dinner on the floor (later to be cleared away for sleeping futons). You leave your shoes in the foyer. Until dinner, you can relax, excurse, or head to the top floor onsen. Robes are supplied. Four or five lovely private baths are available (first come first serve) and two large same-sex baths (these latter have the views). Whichever you choose, you strip down, thoroughly clean yourself at the provided stations, then soak in the pools as long as you like. Then you dry yourself off with the supplied towels, leave the towels in the bins, and return to your room. Whether you opt for dinner or breakfast (or both) in your room: brace yourself for an enormous, extraordinary spread. It’s too much food, but it is also really excellent, and spectacularly presented. Some of the items will challenge you. When we were there, abalone was heavily featured, including cooked table side, in its shell with sake. DELICIOUS. Also expect quite a bit of good sashimi and a very large number of small delicacies. It’s over the top. Take your time and enjoy it. They don’t get a lot of English-speaking clientele, but they handled it well enough. The service here is very high level. The one minor problem we had was that our particular room had a little bit of a wind tunnel effect, but we were there during a typhoon and the other couple next door had no such complaints. Not cheap, but by no means the most expensive option around, and a pretty good value once you factor in all the food.
- lisatan188 (10/5): 1st class food and spacious room with views facing the sea!! - a ryokan (Japanese inn) which is a "hidden jem" which does not advertise via 3rd parties. The services and food is so good that repeat customers kept their bookings full a few months in peak periods and rarely empty during the off peak months. Loved by Japanese and long term expat residents, this is a gem I hesitated to write a review on for fear of overtaken by tourists spoiling the peace and serenity for loyal long term patrons. No big groups when we were there and even check in is so quietly done and smooth. no one speaks loudly and everyone smiles at you giving you space and peace to enjoy the tranquil surroundings listening to the waves....and u enjoy the same views and sound of the rushing waves from the comfort of your room. the glass windows can also be open up to allow the breeze in.

Staff super-dupper friendly, the dinner and breakfast of the delux experience - I have eaten a lot of Japanese food in Japan and around the world, but the quality of food was superb. Not cheap, but worth of every single yen. We were there with kids and they were delighted by the whole experience of the Japanese traditional dinner.
- 531veran (10/5): Vacation - relaxation - Exceeded my expectations - if you want a place to relax, listen to soothing ocean waves as it lulls you to sleep, feel pampered and enjoy fine dining in your room - then this is the place. Located about two hours from Tokyo by train - Izu Inatori is a small town - two lane highway - and a train station located next to a quaint market. They responded to all of our emails and answered our questions. Professional, patient, courteous, and sense of humor - since I spoke no Japanese and pantomime some of my words - we both ended up laughing out loud. The rooms were comfortable, clean and well maintained - outside bath/onsen water temperature was perfect. One thing everyone needs to know - the food served was outstanding and included a lot of raw as in not cooked and did have some cooked main dish. Fresh sashimi (locally caught fish called gin-me-dai or golden eye snapper) in all types of dishes mixed with local grown vegetables. If you are not use to eating raw items - just give it a try - at least immerse yourself in the culture and onsen and take the time to really look at the detail in the presentation of the food served. Breakfast and dinner are the only meals served - and there are no restaurants located in the hotel. Across the train station is a little shop that has baked items and sweets. The market also had some fresh fruits, sandwiches, bentos and food items for purchase. Hamanoyu staff members come from different areas of Japan. We were pleasantly surprised you are assigned a dedicated staff member for your entire stay who spoke some English. We were very impressed with the service, excellent fresh seafood and beef and spectacular ocean view. We would definitely return and highly recommend this place.
- mummybearie23 (10/5): Beautiful onsen with sea views, excellent cuisine & service - Spent 1 night after spending a day at Kawazu Sakura Festival as the ryokan is just 2 stops (or 5 mins via train) from Kawazu. The room we booked had a view with a hammock where you could fall gently asleep while reading a book. Our package included a special gourmet dinner with add-on catch of the day sashimi. Well worth the extra expense for the experience and best to book on the hotel's own reservation site for the full range of package options. The hotel's website advised guests to manage as light a lunch as possible and they were not joking! The menu featured seafood, especially the prized Kinmedia fish in many ways (sashimi, shabu, broiled). The roof-top onsen was lovely for its night view and sunrise. The private onsen that we booked for 1 hour, totally enjoyable. Facilities are well kept. The hotel had checked with us prior to arrival on our spoken language and assigned a lovely staff, Yuka who spoke perfect English and took care of all our requests perfectly. You can tell that the hotel frequently hosts international travelers. From the time we were picked up from the station to the time we left - we were well looked after. Will definitely return.

- liquidaloha (10/5): Excellent stay! Fantastic Food! English friendly! - This was a wonderful onsen/ryokan and perhaps the best I've stayed at so far. It is easy to reach the station (Izu Inatori) and from there, they have a free shuttle to take you to the hotel. Our room had a private onsen, but there is the rooftop onsen that has stunning views of Izu Peninsula. The food was beyond amazing and they can accommodate non-meat eaters (only seafood). Our room hostess spoke English, so when we the conversation became too advanced for our Japanese, she flawlessly switched to English. They even provided an English translation of the menu. The rooms were big, bright and clean. I loved it and would stay here again.
- berry_butler (10/5): Food was divine! Great View! - Friend and I took a 2.5hrs train ride from Tokyo Station and arrived at Ito station. This small sea-village is very charming, very down-to-earth. You get to see the ocean all the way from the train ride until you arrive at the hotel. We got a ocean view room and it's really nice to hear the sea wave at night. The public bath was up to standard, nothing too extravagant or exciting. The water temperature of the bath was not too high, allowing you to soak in and enjoy the ocean a little longer. Private rooms for baths are available (my Japanese friend arranged it) for certain types of rooms. The food was phenomenal - we had a 14-course dinner with mainly seafood, featuring their local precious (金目鯛kinmedai). They served it 3 ways: sashimi, cooked in sweet sake and soy sauce and shabu shabu. OMG, I was in heaven enjoying this fish along with many many more delicacy. Service was excellent. Staff are super friendly. It helps a lot to be travelling with a Japanese speaker (my friend :) The only bummer was unreliable wifi. Highly recommend this place! Make sure to check out the local fish / wet market.
- Katetam (10/5): Beautiful and secluded Onsen Hotel.... - We drove from Tokyo to Izu, and in particular to this hotel in Inatori area. The full name is Hamanoyu in Izu Inatori. Famous for its meal preparations... especially the famous fish of the area "Sea Bream". Delicious for dinner and breakfast. The meals were mainly seafood, and the service in the hotel is impressive. We got the G type room, with the private onsen, 270 degrees facing the ocean. Absolutely stunning to wake up to in the morning at 5:30am... the sunrise, I will never forget it. The rooftop public bath is the ultimate onsen experience. It is on the rooftop, and infinity pool style. Breathtaking, and facing the ocean completely all around.... each day, the roof top publich bath rotates, women on one side, men on the other side, then next day, swtiches. After the bath, ensure you get a cold ice tea, and a Yuzu Sherbet outside the bath.... great way to cool down. The hotel arranged a hostess who took care of us during our stay, spoke fluent english. Prior to our arrival, I inquired whether my kids would be able to play "fireworks" (the small ones).... where they can wear their Yukatas, and play fireworks... you know, the ultimate Japanese onsen experience....... they tried it last year in a Fukuoka Onsen hotel, so they asked whether they would have that again. So I asked, and the hotel said their gift shop doesn't have it. Upon our arrival, when we checked in, one staff came out with a big bag of fireworks that they sent someone to prepurchase for us. That was impressive service. We drove 3 hours from Tokyo to this very secluded hotel, a word of warning, the road from Tokyo to Izu is very winding, but very beautiful, oceanview all the way. Highly recommended hotel. Highlight of our trip definitely, and among all the onsen hotels we stayed, this was one of the best. Not the quality of water of the onsen, but the whole experience and meals in general.
