Guest Reviews
- 207kurth (10/5): Great Experience - Great staff. Alyssa was very attentive and great drinks.
- geauxdb (10/5): Great Old Parish Courthouse - This space is beautifully renovated, offering a clean, relaxing environment. The location is downtown with bar and restaurant service. The staff was knowledgeable and pleasant.
- nickpK9530WR (10/5): Fantastic Hotel! - We have a tough travel day and showed up to the hotel in a terrible mood. The second we walked into the hotel, everything changed for the better. Our room was very clean and spacious. We went to the bar to grab a drink and dinner before bed and to our surprise, was some of the best food and drinks we have had in a very long time. We have checked out but already thinking about the next opportunity to come back!
- philiprloria (8/5): Good but Needs Work - With taxes and fees the room was a tad over $300. We arrived at 3:30 and left at 7 the next morning. Check in was a piece of cake. Room was nice. Parking was tough but in the middle of "downtown"
Problems included 2 guests and one robe. We showered separately and shared. No hair dryer (REALLY?). The lights on either side of the bathroom mirror were 6 1/2 feet off the ground. My wife is 5'4" made it difficult to put on make up. The outside windows were filthy. Not what I expect for $300
- D669FPisabelh (10/5): Business / Family trip - Family of 4, stayed here for a business trip. We own Get Moved, a white glove delivery company. Tried to find a hotel that was close to our pick up and drop off location. This was within 15-20 mins of our location, convenient that it had food and a great bar! The atmosphere is great, high class, and cozy. Will definitely be staying here again. Coones family.
- Jamie (4/5): Not worth it. - This hotel already has a later than average check in time (4pm), but the room was still not ready upon our arrival at 4:30. The desk clerk was rude and unhelpful and could not estimate how long the wait would be. He did not offer even an apology, a drink while we wait, a discount, truly nothing. When we did get into the room, around 6pm, the toilet had not been thoroughly cleaned (under the seat was dirty) and there was less than a half roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. Overall for $275 a night, not even close to worth it.
- Jada (2/5): - We were in for one night. When we arrived the room was not ready. We waited 2 hours for a room. When we got in the room it smelled so bad of cigarette smoke and was very musty.
- Michael (10/5): - Unable to visit crowded bar. No breakfast
- Jillian (2/5): - Staff service amaze! Copper is the best.
- ruthwQ1402CI (10/5): Excellent employees you hired. - The bar manager, Nolan, and waitress, Emma, are exceptional employees. This may sound cliche but as a former business owner they rank as extremely smart minded employees that truly care about the service of tbeir customers. They do go the extra mile to please the customer and be sure they are truly accomadated. Thank you for hiring excellent people that go that extra mile

- jobarthelemy09 (4/5): Smell in room - The hotel was in good shape but the room had a very bad order. Smelled like wet animals like a dog or cat.
People were nice and professional. The hotel is very close to restaurants and attractions.
- jeromewest (4/5): not worth it - At check in, no one offered to help with the bags. We got to the room, it was hot and never really cooled off. The A/c was totally inadequate for a hot climate. tiny cheap plastic cups in the room, low class. tiny packet of coffee in the room completely inadequate to make a cup of coffee and it was to last us the three night stay because our room was never serviced. trash piled up, until we chased down a housekeeper to make them at least take out the trash. Premium prices for Motel 6 quality. Obviously this hotel is cutting corners and it shows. It's the small things that make a difference and this property really doesn't stand out, not worth it.
- Sandra (10/5): - Property was very nice and bar had excellent service. Parking was very difficult
- Benjamin (8/5): - .
- Jeff (8/5): - The hotel was beautiful but there was a wedding the night we stayed there. The bar and sitting areas were packed so we didn't get to enjoy them. We did eat at the restaurant and it was very good.
- Nicolette (10/5): a+ experience - Absolutely adorable little gem of a hotel! The rooms were beautiful and comfy! The grounds were beautiful and very true southern decor. I had a one night stay and got a great nights rest. Quiet, staff was kind and amenities are great.
- Hafid (10/5): Nice palce for a LSU game - I had a wonderful stay at the Southern Hotel in Covington. The atmosphere truly captures the charm of the real South, chic, stylish, and beautifully set. The staff was very accommodating and even provided me with an early check-in, which I greatly appreciated. Everything felt warm and welcoming. I’ll definitely be staying here again!

- Brandie (10/5): - Great service! Great location
- Climber320699 (10/5): Great Hotel in Covington, LA - Awesome Hotel. Make sure to eat at Gloriette. Cyprus Bar is a busy lobby bar that all the locals enjoy. Will stay again when we visit Covington.
- Janelle (10/5): - The property and staff were both amazing. The drinks at The Cypress Bar were top notch!
- Lovie (10/5): - The hotel property was very well kept, and the staff was excellent. I had a small emergency when I realized I forgot my phone charger. Around 10 p.m., I called the front desk to see if they sold any. The friendly lady at the front desk informed me they didn't. But she kindly offered to lend me her personal charger instead. She mentioned she’d be working the night shift and asked me to return it once my phone was fully charged.
Unfortunately, I accidentally fell asleep and woke up at 3 a.m. in a panic, worried she might think I didn’t intend to return it. I rushed it back down to the front desk — and to my relief, she wasn’t even upset.
This small but meaningful act of kindness was just one of the many things that made my overnight stay memorable. Truly great service!

- Ann (10/5): - Wonderful stay, beautiful property with great amenities in perfect location
- Penelope (10/5): - We stayed there for the Super Bowl. The hotel was in a nice quaint city about 45 minutes from New Orleans. There was plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The hotel was very pretty. We loved the old fashioned feel. It was very clean and decorated nicely. I would recommend.
- Lin (10/5): Loved! - We absolutely loved The Southern!
- Hitomi (10/5): - Lovely hotel
- Eric (10/5): - Clean, friendly staff, modern.
- David (10/5): - Beautiful building and grounds. Great location. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
- Dawn (6/5): - The pros are the location, the bar, cleanliness and walkability of the area. The cons were the noise and parking.
We stayed here for 2 nights. We arrived the night of a wedding in this hotel. There was no parking available. We ended up parking across the street from the hotel in the bank parking lot as advised by the front desk. The music from the wedding reception could be heard in our room well past 9pm. We also could clearly hear music into the night our 2nd night.
We had some great drinks in the bar and walked to dinner. We also walked to a great ice cream shop just a few blocks away. Beds were comfy, shower and bathroom were clean and had hot water.
I would stay here again but may a different part of the hotel.
- James (10/5): - the front desk people were so very kind and helpful and made our overnight stay so very enjoyable. The breakfast in the dining room was very good.
- Mike (6/5): - Everything was good, but the AC is a deal killer and why we could never stay here again no matter how nice it is. The AC vent blows directly in your face when you are in bed making it impossible to sleep with it on. So you have to turn it off and then it gets to warm to sleep.
- Lana (10/5): - Beautiful
- Mary Ellen (10/5): - Live music in courtyard 2 of 3 nights. Excellent restaurants adjacent to hotel property
- JIMMY (10/5): My Favorite Hotel - I’ve been to a lot of hotels in my travels many of the five star hotels but The Southern Hotel remains in the top of my list of favorite places to visit!
- Shelby (8/5): - Everything was great! The bed was just uncomfortable but other than that our stay was great!
- Melissa (10/5): - Very nice property
- steven (10/5): - Enjoyed every moment spent at the Southern Hotel.
- robert (10/5): - Awesome place
- lynda s (10/5): - Love the hotel! Parking a challenge with a wedding.
- mary (10/5): - Always decorated so beautifully during Christmas. Also the front desk personnel are very friendly and professional which is not always the norm at other hotels.
- Gina (10/5): Lovely Stay as always - It's a lovely gem of a hotel that never disappoints when ever we stay there. For the price it's the best value out there for hotels on this level. The restaurant and bar is also lovely, with great food. It's in the center of Covington so you can walk everywhere.
One one complaint is the off site gym, which was a bit down and out, compared to the hotel and you have to walk to another building behind the hotel.
- Ralph (10/5): - Interesting property; easy check-in. comfortable room.
- Mandy (10/5): - Beautiful hotel in a lovely historic town- everything in walking distance. Melissa makes the best cocktails too
- natalie (10/5): - Love this property each time we go!

- LISA (10/5): - Front desk staff was amazing!
- Dawn M (10/5): - Loved this property
- ronnis697 (10/5): Love the Southern! - The Southern is a lovely small hotel. It has great ambiance, and the rooms are a nice size. Rooms along the outer walls have exposed brick, giving them an old New Orleans kind of charm. The beds are very comfortable, and the pillows are soft and fluffy. The bathrooms are large and the towels feel wonderful. The bar (Cypress Bar) is very nice - pretty, great atmosphere, and the drinks are good - but it can get really noisy on Friday nights. I'm hoping to try the restaurant next time!
- Eugene (10/5): - NC
