Guest Reviews
- Richard (10/5): A welcome respite after a long days home. - Arrived late after a long motorcycle ride. Kitchen had closed but Emma arranged for a meal for us regardless. Emma and Adam have only had this place since beginning of year but have plans for some renovation.
There welcome, service and food were superb, especially the fab breakfast.
Glad to have met Emma and Adam (again) and I wish them both well in their future plans.
Thanks both.
- Robert (4/5): Shared bathroom needs to be stated - Hadnt realised it was a shared bathroom or would never have chosen. I cannot belive this is rated as 3 stars, i dont blame the hotel, hotels.com should take the blame. Whole place is in need of a thorough clean.

- IAN (10/5): Cycle stay - Adam and Emma were fantastic hosts. Couldn’t do enough for you. Beer and food excellent too. Great place for cyclists to stay over.
- Lee Richard (10/5): - Great service throughout the time i was there, plus discount on food and drink in the pub.
- Sue (8/5): - Nice quiet little country pub. Nice room, perfec5 fo4 an overnight stay whilst att3nding a birthday party
- Rebecca (10/5): - We arrived slightly early and the staff were more than happy for us to check in. I had messaged to explain that it was a birthday surprise trip for my partner and they had done lovely little extras which was such a lovely and kind gesture. We had food at the pub which was very reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. The host (unsure of her name but had red hair) was so helpful and welcoming. Nothing was too much of an ask for them. I was dreading the shared bathroom as I didn’t realise when I booked but we were the only guests so had it to ourselves. The breakfast was fabulous and very tasty. Overall we would 1000% stay here again and we have already told all our family and friends about it. So welcoming and friendly. Very homely and we can’t wait to return next time. Thank you so much for a lovely stay and going the extra mile for us.
- Roy (6/5): Room tired & dated - Not bad value for one night, however, room looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a couple of days, another bedside table would've been useful, didn't realise it was a shared bathroom (not mentioned one website), stairs leading to rooms was filthy (didn't give a good first impression), website says rooms recently refurbished, ours looked like that was done about 10 years ago!!! However, landlord was friendly enough & served up a good breakfast.
- Polly (2/5): - We couldn’t locate the property, we thought we’d found it but then were told that digs weren’t allowed, after we had already called ahead and told them about our dog and also had the “pets allowed” search filter on.
The first place we tried called “The Village Inn” said that they had ppl turn up all the time thinking that they are staying there, only to find that it’s not the correct venue or a hotel.
- Catherine (10/5): - Great location for me and very good for the price point. Warm and friendly welcome. Exceeded my expectations.
- Melanie (10/5): Highly recommended - Great stay, great food.
- Aphra (10/5): - It was a very lovely stay. The staff were so friendly and made me feel at home.
- William (10/5): Very good value stay - Really friendly service and room was exactly as described and expected. Staff were very attentive. Room snacks and drinks a nice bonus
- Md Mizanur (10/5): - Staying at this property was an absolute delight. Ema, the host, was exceptional. She was always ready to help and ensured we had no issues during our stay. We felt truly cared for. If we visit again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here. Highly recommend!
- Adrian (8/5): - TBH what I like most - and what is becoming increasingly hard to find - is reasonable accommodation for a few nights at a reasonable price, rather than so-called luxury accommodation costing the earth with facilities I don't want and won't have time to use.
- LEE (8/5): - Did the job, room was cheap but hadn’t realised it was a shared bathroom which was a bit of a faff
- Matthew (6/5): Lovely place shame about a little mishap. - Check in was great. Showed to my room. Which was exactly what I expected. I went down for an evening meal and beverage. I have to say the food was great and very reasonably priced. Again service was great.
The issue I had was after the pub closed. I sat on the bottom of the bed a few minutes later it broke and I fell the rough it. I weigh 12 stone 8 lbs. There was nothing I could do so had to sleep on the floor. Apart from that it’s a lovely place.
- jeannette (6/5): - pleasant staff. Clean but well used furniture.
Sheets not ironed. Mattress old and tired.
- Robert (6/5): - The inn wasn’t open on Mondays, they take guests but sadly you need to travel somewhere to get food and drink.
- Lauren (10/5): - Would defo recommend to family and friends and would go back xx
- robert (10/5): Nice play - Nice welcoming place. Nice food and beer available. Good value in quiet area
- Vanessa (8/5): Solo traveler - Great service. Good food in pub. Would stay again.
- Steven (6/5): Don't believe the 10/10 reviews! - The room was ok at best. It wasn't very apparent that it has a shared bathroom. I double checked and they only mention I could see was by clicking for more information and midway through the section on the bathroom it did say shared. It wasn't obvious from my initial booking.
The bathroom wasn't very nice, stray hairs, poor shower. I tried not to use it as much as possible. The bed wasn't great, some of the slats fell out! I had to replace them. There was some noise from other guests, at 22:30 someone was calling and whistling at their dog to come up the stairs. The stairs by the way are steep and narrow so not great if you have mobility issues. The village and pub itself looked nice but I didn't eat. There are a few 10/10 reviews, I fail to see how anyone would ever rate it a 10! It was cheap so I can't complain about that but I wouldn't return unfortunately. The room was basic and a bit grubby looking in places, the telly was on the windowsill for some reason....not great when you shut the curtains.
- Stuart (4/5): - 4 nights booked. No contact from hosts. Paper bag left in room with 1 apple, 1 miniature childs long life orange juice, 1 small bar of chocolate, and best of all 1 Brioche roll, so stale that the fat had been absorbed by the paper bag. Nothing left at all for day 2. I have spent 4 decades as a professional business consultant and this enterprise is quite literally indifferent to the needs of their guests. I could never recommend this business to anyone.
I left after 2 nights and consider I was being generous in staying that long. Avoid.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dog faeces everywhere is a worrying indication - The pub beer 'garden' is littered with dog faeces and I watched staff from the kitchen walk through and past it. You have to walk through this from the car park to the rooms entrance; which is grimy and dilapidated. The shared bathroom was dirty and had no toilet roll. The breakfast bag contained a rock solid brioche roll and a child size OJ carton. The bedding had not been ironed and was super crumpled, the bottom bedsheet was bobbled. The only relief was that it appeared clean. The room had been recently decorated as the pub is under new ownership. With faeces everywhere at the entrance to the kitchen there was no way I was going to eat or drink there - it says a lot about your standards if you're happy for customers and staff to walk through that disgusting beer 'garden' every day.
- John (10/5): - A wonderful place to rest and relax. Quiet and peaceful.
- PATRICIA (10/5): Fun stay! - Lovely stay! We got there late and the restaurant part of the bar downstairs was closing but our kind bed and breakfast owner asked them to wait a bit and feed us. The bar was fun and had a variety of British beers. Absolutely recommend it!
- ALBERTO (10/5): - Great customer service and so friendly. We enjoyed our stay
