We paid extra for the daily breakfast, which included creamy and delicious scrambled eggs (French style), local cheeses and hams, and breads/croissants. The staff is very helpful and nice, and we were centrally located. We loved our stay at the James.
• melitam943 (10/5): James Boutique Hotel Colmar is a GEM - After 3 weeks in France, the James Hotel in Colmar was a beautiful, warm respite for two weary travelers. The room was fantastic! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom well-appointed, and the decor relaxing and inviting. The hotel staff was especially helpful and made you feel welcomed from the start. The hotel is located just off old town Colmar, which is convenient but a quiet break from the bustle of the tourist areas. I would recommend the James Boutique Hotel anytime. It was a highlight of our stay in France.

Pros: Close to city center, Staff are all welcoming and pleasant, beds are very comfortable, room well maintained and clean, reception open 24 hours, drinks are well crafted, breakfast is far more than your ordinary hotel and worth having, atmosphere and decor are superb, lobby set up to either maintain a quiet getaway or to engage with others. Very cozy vibe. Cons: none.

Elegant public areas with nice sitting area and bar. Extremely helpful and friendly staff made helpful restaurant suggestions and made a reservation for us; also gave us good tips for charming nearby towns to visit in the area. Location convenient to city center. Decent value for an upscale lodging.

They helped with restaurant reservations, they were kind as I attempted French, and they offered apple sauce pouches to my two kids at each breakfast. They were thoughtful in so many ways throughout our stay. The hotel is modern, sleek, and beautiful. The beds are so comfortable. And I loved the daily breakfast. In terms of convenience, the location is on the same block as a grocery store and is an easy block away from the historic city center. We would definitely stay there again, and we'd highly recommend James Boutique Hotel. Thank you to everyone there who helped make our stay so enjoyable.

• bartm64 (10/5): Great overnight stay … - Just spent one night here but the hotel was very good. Friendly staff, decent size rooms and a very good breakfast. Also only a 5 minute walk from the city centre . Car park is an experience, especially if you have a slightly larger car. Definitely recommend.
• Spanishpal (10/5): Route du vin visit in Colmar - The hotel is perfectly situated to the historic center of Colmar. The rooms are well appointed, extremely clean and spacious. The continental breakfast was well apportioned with excellent coffee choices, fresh squeezed orange juice, lovely cheeses and delicious breads. The staff of the hotel were absolutely wonderful. They were attentive and responsive to our group’s needs. Hotel lobby’s decor was inviting and well designed to accommodate small group interaction and a place to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine.

The service is excellent and the breakfast was a very nice buffet with fresh fruits and muesli (my favorite breakfast food); The staff is very friendly and showing on a map where we are. The rooms are nicely outfitted and the beds are comfor.

• olgakB3218YQ (10/5): Modern, elegant, great AC - We loved this hotel and often remembered it during our travels in Europe this July. It is modern, elegant, and bright. AC worked very well, and the bed was comfortable. The location is good - a walking distance from the old town, and short Uber ride from the train station. We stayed at ~7 hotels during this Europe trip, and the breakfast at James Boutique was our favorite - they did not have too many items, but what they had was high quality - the hot chocolate was the best we ever tasted, wonderful local Alsace yogurts, great orange juice, fresh pastries etc; and the little breakfast area was very cute. I loved the lobby too - tastefully decorated, cooled with AC, and full of light. The elegant lady with long red hair at the reception was friendly and helpful, and spoke English well with a beautiful french accent. We also appreciated them letting us check out a little later. The price was also very reasonable. Highly recommend and hope to stay there again one day. I wish it were a hotel chain, and I could find James Boutique everywhere we traveled.
• Svetlana (10/5): Amazing hotel close to Colmar old town - Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights for a family tip. It’s conveniently located close to the center, but far enough to be really quiet at night. The rooms were clean and updated and the front desk staff was friendly. Parking is located at the supermarket parking lot, which is accessible to anyone. I didn’t have any issues with that, but this might be an issue for some people.

• Stu4510 (8/5): Beautiful stay in a family run hotel. - Lovely boutique hotel, I only stayed one night in a classic double, it was lovely, fairly big with a lovely bathroom, everything felt like it was good quality. I would definitely recommend a visit if your staying in Colmar. It's about a 25 minute walk from the station but uber costs about £10-12 to get there. Staff were very friendly, and for the minimal time I was there I would definitely return. COLMAR is beautiful.

The hotel is ideally located—just a short stroll from the main restaurant strip—making it perfect for exploring the town. Inside, everything is clean, modern, and well-maintained, and the breakfast each morning was fresh and good. What really stood out, though, was the staff. They were genuinely warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful. On one occasion when I found myself in a bit of a jam, they went above and beyond to assist me—something I really appreciated. The secure, on-site carpark was a great convenience, and having a supermarket right next door made it easy to grab anything I needed. All in all, a really good experience
• Z1201TQrebeccab (10/5): Fantastic Stay! - We loved this hotel. Stayed for 2 nights in June 25. When we arrived it was late morning so were unable to go into our room. The receptionist, checked us in, took our cases, gave us all the recommendations and also restaurant recommendations too. When we came back the cases were already in the room. The rooms are very comfortable. Modern bathroom and daily water in the fridge. The staff are very attentive and happy to help. The hotel itself is a good location with easy walking distance to the old town. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

• Escape64201765589 (4/5): Construction noise spoilt my stay - I stayed here for one night, in June 2025. There is long-term construction going on opposite the hotel and it is noisy! I mentioned this when I was checking in and was assured by the check-in receptionist that it was just for one day and that they would be wrapping up soon. Not true, I was woken up at 7:30 AM by a screeching tile cutter (see photo). According to the check-out receptionist, construction had been going on for the whole *last year* so the check-in person outright lied to me. If morning sleep is important to you, you would best avoid this hotel as all the rooms face the construction site. If I had known, I would have stayed at a different hotel because I was on a driving trip and that little extra morning sleep makes all the difference. Plus the checkout lady couldn't have been more uncaring and aloof, her attitude was sorry, but there was nothing she could do and that was it. The room was more than fine but this was not a pleasant stay.

From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming, professional, and attentive to every detail. The room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. Everything was well-maintained, and the amenities exceeded expectations. What really stood out was the exceptional service. Every staff member I encountered went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed. The location is also perfect. close to Centre city, yet quiet and peaceful at night. I would highly recommend James Boutique to anyone looking for a relaxing, luxurious, and worry-free stay. I can’t wait to return!

• 37lize (10/5): Beautiful hotel, fantastic staff - So many ‘best’ parts of my stay in this amazing hotel! I traveled with Con Brio Choral Society in late May. Upon arrival, keys were ready, maps were distributed, and welcome tea and local candies (available 24/7) in the spacious and comfortable lobby. The room was well appointed with many towels, crisp sheets, plenty of pillows, and delightful chocolate. The water pressure and large walk-in shower were fantastic. Rooms are clean every day. There is a refrigerator and in room coffee set up, though I never used because the breakfast was sumptuous with locally sourced breads, meats, cheeses, yoghurts, fresh fruit, fruit juices and fresh eggs which you can cook with a timer to your liking. The coffee and many choices -sensational. Don’t miss the brioche!! The hotel is centrally located, next door is a full supermarket with helpful personnel and an amazing array of local foods and sundries. The hotel is walking distance to everything Colmar has to offer. The Unterlinden Museum is not to be missed! Many shops, restaurants, and sites to see. I chose the local delicacies - Tarte Flambee from Le Flamm’s (out of sight!), macaroons, butter cookies, crisps, caramels, many stores offer samples. I was in heaven when I took a bite of a bon bon covered in chocolate with the airiest marshmallow and pastry, a dream! I rented a bike and discovered the area, biking to the town of Equisheim. The staff at the hotel are so accommodating providing patient direction and assistance, even h helping me find a local laundromat! If I come to this area again, I will certainly stay at the James Boutique Hotel.
• nevilles813 (10/5): Modern Hotel Close To Beautiful Old Town Area. - No hesitation returning here if in the area. My brother and I stayed for 3 nights. The staff were always kind and helpful. Being a 5 minute walk to the beautiful old town, we explored there a lot. Loads of shops and eateries to enjoy. Parking, using the supermarket car park next door was 16e / day. There are some free spaces nearby, but you might have to wait until one is available. Close to other gorgeous villages such as Kayserberg which we visited. Also went to the largest car collection/museum in the World at Mulhouse. Very interesting, especially if you like Bugattis.

• Mavis (10/5): Perfect Stay - Lovely small hotel within easy walking distance of the centre of Colmar. I had a lovely room and as I have mobility issues, the hotel provided an excellent shower chair for my use during my stay. All the staff were so pleasant and helpful. My daughter and grand-daughter were staying nearby and we all enjoyed drinks in the hotel bar on a number of occasions. The breakfast offering was excellent - something for everyone. I can only describe my stay as perfect.

It was, by far, one of the best experiences we've had. The hotel was spotless, the staff was incredibly friendly, and I truly felt at home during our stay. We visited in December during the holiday season, and the hotel's location is perfect—just a few minutes' walk from all the major attractions in Colmar. We didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return. The breakfast was diverse and delicious, offering a great start to our day. A special thanks to the hotel staff for their warm hospitality and to the housekeeping team, who kept everything immaculate every time we returned from a long day of sightseeing. • Rick (10/5): Nice hotel easy walk to old town Colmar. - Great little hotel perfect walking distance to the Christmas markets or anywhere in the old town of Colmar. Parking was easy on the side of the hotel. Easy check in and out, nice little lounge in the lobby. Overall it’s listed as a 4 star hotel but we give it 4+.

The location was walkable from the train station in a quiet area of town that was also easily walkable to the markets and restaurants. Lovely staff, comfortable lobby and quiet rooms. The room was small but spotless and comfortable. If you need more room to work or relax, the main sitting area near the front desk is very nice. Above all, the staff was amazing--incredibly friendly with great tips on places to eat.

• senssl (10/5): Lovely hotel! - Our first impression of the hotel on a rainy afternoon, was the warm welcome we received from Enzo at the front desk. Our modern room was spotless and roomy with an enormous terrace and large bathroom! Our king bed was super comfortable. We enjoyed the mini fridge and pod coffee maker. It is right off the Grand Rue of Old Town, not far past the toy museum. We would highly recommend the Janes Boutique Hotel!

I do not expect blazing speeds from a hotel but this was appalling…even email sometimes would fail to work. Same was reported by other couples in our group.
• MICHAEL (8/5): Modern, handy for Colmar centre, poor area - Parking is very limited at the hotel, charged Euro16 per night to park in Auchan supermarket car park 50m from hotel. Balcony not much use as opposite a building site and above busy street.
• Mike (8/5): - Very nice hotel and just a short walk to old Colmar. The rooms are nicely decorated and large enough but we stayed in a Jr. suite. For the Americans, the rooms do have AC but they don't go below 72 degrees. Our room had a balcony but not much of a view to speak of, but it was still nice to sit outside with a glass of wine. There is a grocery store next door which was great. If you are driving, you'll end up parking in the grocery store parking lot which is gated. The staff was friendly, the do have a bar but it doesn't seem to be staffed later in the evening. The woman who checked us in was super nice and helpful, I can't recall her name.

We had informed the hotel about this and asked them to arrange for a taxi. To our surprise, the hotel owner came himself to pick us up in his car. We cannot thank him enough for this gesture. The service, the cleanliness, the hospitality was perfect. We would highly recommend James Boutique Hotel to anyone visiting Colmar. The location is nearby the city centre and you can cover all the tourist attractions by foot.

• David (10/5): - The historic district is a easy walk from the hotel. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff is every helpful and accommodating and the breakfast is very good. The parking is easy. We would stay again.

A large crane and heavy machinery is very loud at 7am making sleeping in impossible We left a day early because of the noise. The hotel stated it was not their construction and could not help us. • Richard (10/5): Wonderful boutique hotel, great breakfast,location - The family run hotel is pretty new with that modern, clean, organized feel but with lots of tasteful decor in the hotel and the rooms. We would stay there again for both the hospitality, great breakfasts which included butter brioche buns, self serve boiled eggs, scrambled eggs by a Michelin restaurant chef in town, Alsatian sausages, fantastic fresh pressed orange juice, mixed fruit, and great coffee machine. The rooms are very clean and are environmentally friendly updated. The lotions, shampoos, and soaps are all of high quality and environmentally friendly. Includes a towel warmer which helps in not having the towels cleaned as much. Location is about a 10 minute walk to the old downtown where lots of the restaurants, bars, other hotels, and the river canal. A great stay for a very clean hotel with pleasant staff and short walk to downtown.

• Valerie (10/5): Very nice hotel - This hotel is in a working area so we were a little hesitant at first. Hard to find where to pull in at first. Parking looked sketchy but was fine. The staff here is EXCELLENT and the hotel is very very clean and nice. The only drawback is housekeeping does not follow the do not disturb sign so becareful. We would stay here again if we could not stay where we normally stay and would also recommend the hotel to our friends.
