- Joel (10/5): First time in a traditional Japanese hotel. - I had never stayed in a traditional Japanese hotel (I would call this a bed and breakfast) before, so this was really a nice experience. The building is in immaculate condition and it's very clean. It does have common bathrooms, so that was a bit of a surprise. The couple who runs the Fukurou Tei are nice and very helpful. The wife was also fluent in English, which helped me quite a bit. It is located kind of in the middle of nowhere, which is both good and bad. I specifically wanted to see rural Japan. So this hotel put me right in the middle of that. The downside was the nearest train station was a VERY long walk. Fortunately, the owners were willing to give me a ride. And while they added to my bill for this, it was far cheaper than calling a cab. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at this hotel.

- Peter (10/5): Different experience close to Tokyo - Amazing little place close to Narita airport. The owners feel genuine, are very friendly and service minded. The food was excellent (we had breakfast). What really pushed the review over the edge receiving 5/5 is the surroundings. Just a short walk and you are allowed to enter the old world of the shogun. For us, this was totally unexpected (which probably added to the experience). If you ever wondered where the creators of Totoro got their inspiration, you probably should visit this place. Also, recommend a visit to the local restaurant. If you are lucky, the nice locals might buy you a beer.

- Divina (10/5): - Hosts were extremely nice. Breakfast and dinner was the best! Rooms were clean and beautiful, area was great. Would definitely recommend!!
- Ka yung (10/5): Excellent - Nice owner and super clean and tidy place
- Eden (10/5): - My friend and I had a 20 hr layover in Tokyo. We decided to stay at Fukurou Tei for an authentic experience. We didn't go wrong. Ms. Eva's and Mr. Hero were very nice, Mr. Hero picked us up from the airport and it was about an 30 min drive to the hotel. He even took us back into the city, so we could catch the bus to Tokyo. He was even so kind to pick us up from the airport the next morning at 2:40 AM, after we had explored Tokyo!
Ms. Eva was also very helpful. She wrote instructions to how to ride the bus to Tokyo. It was a BIG help. Her breakfast was wonderful! I don't eat fish, but she made salmon for breakfast and it was delicious. I wish I had more now.
Everyone should stay here, you won't regret it!
- Lisa (10/5): Wonderful experience. - Our hosts were very accommodating and professional. The home cooked meals were delicious and healthy, only fresh ingredients were used.
- Hayley (10/5): - Gorgeous place in a beautiful setting, perfect for some light hiking to some amazing local shrines and nature. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful (even took my husband into town to grab some things for dinner one night). And the food Iwy cooks is amazing! Especially her little fish and cheese things and the fish in these amazing sauces, loads of traditional dishes made from local produce fresh and amazing. So yum! We even got to try on some traditional japanese outfits which the kids really loved especially my 15year old daughter. I stayed here with my husband and 2 children and loved the experience and the amazing hospitality, truly was an amazing place to wind down away from the bustle of the city. Thank you so much for an amazing time, you really are the best most courteous hosts.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Friendly Staff - Spent one night in this country side hotel. Place was clean and beautifully kept. Staff were super friendly and accommodating to our needs specially travelling with two little ones. Breakfast was amazing and prepared like artwork. Thank you. Will definitely use again. Comes with free transport from the and to Narita Airport.
- K (10/5): Traditional Japanese hospitality. - Nice relaxing environment.
Good mineral water for drinking and soaking in the spar.
Excellent food served by host.
Guided tour by host on local attractions.
Pickup and drop off was punctual and very comfortable ride.
Mineral water does wonders for your skin after soaking in the tub.
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- The owners were very gracious. The guesthouse is located in a rural setting surrounded by rice fields. A Japanese temple complex is nearby and can be explored. I would recommend this guesthouse to those who want a retreat from the city life of Tokyo.
