Guest Reviews
- Deborah (8/5): Great location, comfortable rooms & lovely staff. - Very clean and quiet hotel. Staff were friendly and very helpful. No common area to sit.
- raul (8/5): - Location and staff Very modest rooms
- CHIH YI (10/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): - The staff were extremely accommodating and the location was very convenient.
- Jaspa (9/5): -
- Carter (10/5): -
- Chantelle Simioni (8/5): Excellent location, perfect to easily access all the ski resorts and main town area! - Excellent location in Echoland, less than 5 minute walk from bus stop to get to the ski resorts, and situated right in the centre of the main resorts (Hakuba47 and Goryu 5-10 mins south; Happo-One, Iwatake and Tsukaige Kogen 5-15 mins north). At the same spot where the bus comes is the Spicy Rental shop were we hired ski gear, very convenient to not have to walk far in our ski boots. Also very close to the main shopping strip in Echoland. The room was quaint but comfortable and decently sized, and there was a room to leave ski gear downstairs. It was very hard to find the reception building to check in, as this was separate from the building where the rooms are, and there wasn't much signage! Would be good if there was another sign out the front. Bed was also a little bit uncomfortable.
- Andrew (10/5): Great location and super helpful staff - The staff were amazing!! They were incredibly helpful, providing advice about getting our bags sent in advance, and then arranged to send a bag back to the airport for us when we left. They were also happy to pick us up from Tokyo station when we arrived and drop us to the Happo Bus Station. They couldn't have been more helpful.
The rooms were clean, and the basket of toiletries went above the usual basics.
The hotel is located in a great spot - a 5 minute from the bus to the ski fields and 5 minutes to restaurants in Echoland, and 15 minutes to shops and restaurants in Happo One.
The included breakfast of croissants/pastries and drinks set us up for the day.
We skied for 3 days, and easily got to and from Happo One, Hakuba 47, Goryu and Tsugaike. The only thing we would change is that the pillows are very firm and we would prefer them a bit softer - but I think that's just Japan, given we have found that everywhere.
- Susan (9/5): Nice place. Great Location. - Great location! Close to great restaurants in echo-land. Could walk to one of the happo-one lifts but it was a pretty good walk. Convenient laundry machine available, shuttle available to and from bus/train station. I wish there was a more convenient shuttles to and from the slopes. The free local shuttle doesn’t run often enough. The decor was a bit dated but that seems to be the vibe of the whole area.
- Hien (8/5): Great Location - The host was super friendly and helpful
- Takayuki (8/5): 良かったです。 - 清潔でスタッフも非常に親切でした。 特にありません。
- miwa (7/5): -
- NORIYASU (8/5): 大変お得で、ロケーションが良いので、また泊まりたい。 - 清潔で備品も整って居た。 場所が分かりにくかった。
- hui-ching (4/5): -
- HIROYUKI (6/5): -
- Ajith (9/5): Superb -
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (5/5): Fell short of review expectations - Breakfast area and contents were not good.
Reviews mentioned they were happy to pick up etc but when asked they basically said no. This was the part that left the worst taste in our mouth. “It’s only a 15 minute walk (with luggage) to the bus terminal”.
It’s a serviced apartment style, at best.
Not near the ski fields but fairly near to echo land.
Rooms very outdated.
Definitely being a bit harsh but the glowing reviews of this place are misleading.
- Brad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gary (5/5): Good location, excellent staff, a bit small for 3 people with gear. - The staff was excellent - friendly, helpful, gave us a ride when we had to leave early. The location is quite good (we didn't get a car) - quite near Echoland (restaurants, services, etc) and the bus service. Walkable to Happo-One, but we usually used a taxi or bus. Internet was solid. Room was small and minimal for 3 adults with gear. Probably better for 2 people. I guess I expected more for the price - But note that all lodging in Hakuba (in prime ski season) is expensive - so hard to compare to other places in Hakuba vs cost of something similar in another town.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (9/5): Ski trip with friend, great location and staff! - Staff amazing, location was amazing. Close to free shuttle buses to various mountains plus round the corner from echoland main strip. Thank you for picking us up/dropping us off during departure and arrival to hakuba!
- Stephen (8/5): Great place to stay - Nice comfortable room with small (Japanese size) bathroom. A bit old fashioned but clean and tidy. Plenty of room for a couple.
I emailed my arrival time & they kindly arranged to pick me up from Hakuba train station. They also organized a taxi to the bus station on my last day.
Tea, coffee & pastries were available each morning and were much appreciated. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Microwave is available in foyer which was useful.
It is about 7 minutes walk to Echoland main street where the shuttle to the ski fields stops. It will take longer when you are carrying skis & walking in ski boots. This is probably the only downside to the location - the distances to the bus stops & convenience store.
The drying area for ski boots & ski storage is a bit cramped for room when the hotel is full but this is not a major problem.
The food trucks were almost next door which was useful if you didn't want to walk too far for dinner.
Overall I enjoyed my stay here very much. I would love to come back.
- Timothy (10/5): Good but wouldn't stay again. - Okay hotel. Getting to and from the ski resorts is hard unless you want to catch the shuttles.
Rooms and staff are good. It is a bit old and crusty.
This place would really benefit their guests with a free shuttle to and from the resorts.
- Julian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jenny (9/5): Superb -
- Brendan (9/5): Great accommodation, difficult public transport - Staff were very approachable and friendly. Staff also were very ontop of cleaning and towel changes Location is a bit difficult without a taxi. This isn't the properties fault, the taxi service in hakuba is very select and there aren't very many around. Travelling to and from the hotel may require taking the hakuba shuttle bus or using your ski lift pass to get back to the bus/ train station (most buses are full of people with ski gear).
- Suh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tasmin (10/5): Great location and cheerful staff. - Close to the centre of Echoland and the shuttle bus stop.
The rooms are a good size for Japan and are clean daily.
The staff were always cheerful and happy to help us with any questions. We would definitely recommend.
- Louis (9/5): Amazing hospitality from these guys - Cute chalets style and awesome location 1 min walk from bus stop to go anywhere in the valley A little expensive but I guess it’s the amazing ski season this year that has driven the prices up
- Emily (10/5): Great home base while snowboarding in Hakuba! - Location was great! A quick ten minute walk to the Main Street in Echoland with all the restaurants. You can pick up the shuttle at Spicy Rentals right down the street. Room was basic but clean and had everything we needed. Staff were very accommodating, helpful and super friendly!
- Kevin (9/5): A lovely hotel with fantastic staff who were always on hand and willing to help. - The hotel was very quiet, clean and comfortable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Well positioned for food and beverage facilities. The hotel is about a 15 min walk from the ski lifts.
- Crystal (9/5): Superb - Great location near echoland. Room was more spacious than we imagined, at least bigger than a lot of the Tokyo hotels we’ve stayed in. Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean. Service was great - they helped us with luggage delivery, picked us up from snow peak land station and dropped us off when we were heading back too! A small breakfast was provided too. Toilet was tiny but that’s fine as room was spacious enough
- Reuben (10/5): Perfect Stay - We had a fabulous stay at Heidi Hof hotel. The rooms were a great size, the beds comfy, great bathroom/shower, and all amenities were provided (toiletries, coffee/tea, pajamas, water etc.). The room was cleaned everyday, and there is an area to leave skis and any wet ski wear to dry out. The location is excellent - a few minutes walk from the bus stop, ski rental, echoland restaurant/bars, and you can even walk to Happo-one in about 10 mins. The host was incredibly kind, she provided us with information on where the different shuttle bus stops were, allowed us to check out in the afternoon instead of the morning, and even gave us a lift to the bus terminal when we weren’t able to get a taxi! I can’t recommend this hotel enough.
- Simone (10/5): We were welcomed on arrival and the warm, clean and comfortable room was the perfect location for us - The comfort, location and beautiful hosts Nothing
- Ryan (10/5): It was a great stay, really helpful staff - It was clean and staff were really nice Nothing
- Isaac (8/5): Very good - There is an open air compound where a few food trucks were stationed. Good food after skiing in the evening.
There are also a few vending machines and also an alcohol stall within stone throw. Operators can be more helpful to guide us on getting around and restaurants reservation etc. The toilet also had a mouldy smell we had to open the window to get some air circulation.
- Tahlia (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (10/5): Loved our time here. - Excellent location.
Staff were very friendly The bathroom floor was very cold.
Also understand that is not an easy fix
- Mackenzie (8/5): Very good - Felt very comfortable and cozy - good value for money. Walking distance to Echoland. Very accommodating.
- Alison (9/5): Lovely few days. Will look forward to returning! - Charming hosts, extremely comfortable bedroom. Would absolutely recommend it! Nothing
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yoong (9/5): Clean, comfortable accommodation. The hotel was very kind to arrange transport to pick us from - Hot coffee and bread
- Evelyn (10/5): Exceptional - Good location walking to echo land food and shuttle bus stops. The staff are what make Heidihof shine! So communicative before we arrived, super helpful with sending our luggage and gave us a ride to bus terminal when all the taxis were full! Easy shuttles to resorts I’m not sure about walking to the slopes as there aren’t great sidewalks so you’re on the road with cars in the slick ice.
- Melissa (8/5): Very good -
- Hannah (10/5): Loved it - The staff and owner were so lovely! It’s very central in between Echoland and 10 minute walk to Happo resort and all the restaurants there too. Japanese style room but really spacious for all my snow gear and to chill and have morning coffee looking out the window watching people on the ski hill. Nothing.
- Josh (9/5): Very friendly staff, made for an amazing stay -
- Andrew (10/5): Best ski accomodation I have stayed in! - This was the best ski accommodation that I have stayed in. The rooms were large and you have an ensuite bathroom. Plus there is a mini fridge and kettle in the room for beers, snacks, coffees and cup noodles. There isn't an onsen in the accommodation or restaurant. So if these are important features it may not be suitable. Although we enjoyed this accommodation for the space in the room and daily room service.
- Xiaoran (8/5): Very good - Excellent location
- Mila (9/5): Superb - Nice little chalet with an alpine feeling. The room was nice and clean and equipped with a kettle, fridge and TV. It was cleaned everyday and amenities replenished which was nice. The owners are lovely and very helpful. Our transfer bus was late and they offered to drive us to the station. Lovely place.
- Mardan (6/5): So so and was not worth the price. - Close to all ski resorts. Was not soundproof at all. We were able to hear all our neighbors and footsteps throughout the day. Additionally, the room was semi-cleaned. Restroom smelled of urine.
- Alex (8/5): Very good -
- Christian (8/5): Very good -
- Helen (9/5): Superb - Extremely helpful and lovely to deal with Would have been great to have some more breakfast options before going off skiing - even to have the option of paying for a good breakfast.
- Jessica (10/5): Absolutely fantastic! I can't wait to go back. - The cleanliness and comfortable beds were amazing, as well as the warm welcome from Heidihof staff. They were so helpful throughout our stay. What I loved most was the close and convenient walking distance to bus stops that take you throughout the valley and pubs/bars/restaurants/shops of echoland. It was only a 10-15min walk to ski lift too!
- Sju1 (8/5): The property met my expectations as a good value base with easy access to slope/shuttles! Great valu - The accommodation is walking distance from echoland high street. It is walking distance from HV shuttle and free shuttle bus stops (and walking distance from Nakiyama if you there are issues with the shuttle - January 2024. The staff were friendly. There rooms were very tidy and the towels were changed frequently. The rooms are basic, but very reasonably priced in peak season [if you are going to be out skiing all day and eating/drinking out in the evening]. N/A. The property met my expectations as a good value base with easy access to slope/shuttles! Great value!
- Evan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Scott (8/5): Good ski holiday in a value for money accomodation - Room was comfortable and clean in all aspects. Assistance of the owner, she answered every question and provided lots of assistance when needed help with transport or just findings things like shops, restaurants or laundromats Location can make it a bit hard to get around but with help from the owner generally this was not a problem.
- Camilla (8/5): Charming Lodge in the best location - The staff were really lovely and helpful. Heidi Hof is simple and charming, rooms have everything you need and the location is perfect, right outside the bus stop to the slopes and walking distance to ski hire and restaurants. Perfect location and exceptional staff :) Nothing!
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Alexandra (10/5): Perfect - Very helpful staff, clean and friendly. none
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - What's not to...really value for money...Easy access to anything you need, it's clean and comfortable, and the staff are great, friendly and warn. That I couldn't stay longer...
- John (10/5): Great hosts, great location, great lodge. - The Breakfast was a great start to the day, varied, thoughtful menus. The offering were delicious and set us up for a day on the slopes.
- Kristan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexander (10/5): - Super friendly and accommodating owners! Place is in an awesome location. Will definitely stay again!
- Jason (9/5): Superb - Everything!.
The hosts were very helpful and friendly. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
- Vicky (8/5): Amazing service and staff, great location close to Echoland base camp and restaurants. - Exceptional breakfast and overall service. Outdated room
- Nick (10/5): Great place will happily stay again when I come back! - Great location close to Echoland, 200 meters from hakuba base camp and also within walking distance of happo one (can catch bus from base camp also). Excellent staff that are super friendly! also great view of the mountains! Only negative was the bed was firm but after the first night I had no problems.
- Man (9/5): Nice and excellent! - We stayed at Heidihof for 5 nights. Azua was very helpful and friendly. Because of the snow storm, our shuttle bus from Nagano to Tokyo cancelled. But Azua helped us to find the way to Tokyo even at after office hour. There are plenty of snow at the front of the apartment. But we only wear runner shoes which will be a mess when walking on the snow. Her father helped to shovel the snow to leave a walking path for the customer. When we were leaving, Azua also took us to the base camp, even though it was just 3 minutes walk. It was an amazing experience.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Excellent staff, very welcoming and friendly! Great location and easy access to the mountains. The breakfast was delicious! I would recommend staying here, and I will definitely go back if I return.
- Rigby (9/5): Superb -
- Victor (10/5): Excelent service and attention, best place to stay for skiing in Hakuba -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Highly recommend: Extremely charming place to stay, quiet location, still convenient short walk to Hakuba Base Camp bus stop or to Happoone Nakiyama lifts. Also short walk to several restaurants for dinner. Elegant Breakfast, changes daily, was so delicious! Room had all the needed amenities, and common area heated ski-room ensured we had warm, dry gear every morning.
- Nicholas (10/5): Amazing service - Hotel Heidi hof was an amazing place to stay with the most wonderful staff and service. Always so helpful with any questions. t was an amazing location for bus services to ski resorts and an easy walk to a ski resort.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were wonderful, at all times they were happy and helped us with every request we made. One of our party dislocated his shoulder in a snowboarding accident, and they went far and above to make sure he felt comfortable.
The breakfast is easily the best I have had included at any hotel. Every day was a different selection of warm bread/croissants, some fruit, yoghurt and a breakfast meal.
Their amenities are perfect for the price, the ski room is large and heated so that all your gear can get dry before the next day. The onsen has both a male and female section and all the times I went, the temperature was just right.
If I come back to Hakuba, staying here is an easy choice.
