- Jason (10/5): Can't recommend enough... - Fantastic guest house, in a peaceful location, spotlessly clean and decorated to a high standard. Great room, comfy bed so slept well. 5-10 mins stroll from the bus stop, 30 mins on bus from Temple bar area. Continental breakfast with a choice of breads, croissants, cheese, yoghurt etc. Nice freshly brewed coffee. Our host Jack is a very interesting man to talk with. Should we revisit Dublin I wouldn't think twice about staying here again.
- James (10/5): - The house has been renovated beautifully. I really appreciated being able to park our rental car, no fuss. The self-serve coffee machine is fabulous. One thing that was lacking for me was a bit of protein for breakfast. I like a full breakfast.

We were in a difficult situation when we arrived as our daughter's accomodation in a different part of the city ( for 3 months) turned out to be a nightmare. Thanks to Jack and his family's support everything is fine now and our daughter is safe and sound in a lovely flat. We can't express how thankful we are!!!! Thank you so much!! Our room in Avoca house was absolutely tidy and very cosy and quiet!!! We immediately felt at home. Apart from that, breakfast was included in the price and really good. We are looking forward to coming back soon.

- kate (10/5): - Avoca House was a great balance to the busy center of Dublin. Being near the Botanic Gardens made for a nice walk interval after arrival on the red-eye flight and nap time! The bed was wonderful. When we awoke, we were refreshed enough to get the bus (7 minute walk from Avoca) into the Temple Bar area for dinner and a stroll through the high-energy neighborhood. The taxi home was under 20 euros. Breakfast was VERY satisfying with many coffee options. The host, Jack Turner, was welcoming and informative.

- Terry (10/5): - Highly recommended. Jack and Audrey are lovely, friendly people. Bonus was their dog Chilli. The house is beautiful and well maintained. Our only niggle was a water pump that ran quite a bit. We could hear it in our room. We stayed in room 1. It didn’t bother my heavy sleeper husband but was a challenge for me the light sleeper. We mentioned it to Jack and he was going to take care of it. Breakfast was serve yourself which was really convenient. Heads up. No hair conditioner is provided. Bring your own if needed.

Self serve breakfast with options, willingness to make accommodations for allergies and intolerances, and couple of decent pubs within walking distance for dinner options.

Hosts were very welcoming and attentive with good suggestions (we enjoyed eating at Fagans). Location convenient to a Tesco which we needed when luggage was delayed. Host provided a filling continental breakfast along with the best gluten free bread I've ever had. Beautiful flowers in garden space.

- Lauren (10/5): Weekend in Dublin - Lovely stay at the Avoca house at the start of our trip! The hosts were incredibly welcoming, and the area was very peaceful. A nice walk into Dublin center (about 30 minutes), perfect to feel close to the city but in a quiet oasis just outside!

Staff very nice helped us to reach the House easily by bus from the airport, located in a quiet and silent area, large and very comfortable bed and rich breakfast. Few steps from the station we visited also Howth for a wonderful lunch of fresh fish, next to the sea, we were also lucky to see some seals. Nice memories. Thank you.
- Magnus (4/5): Endast bra läge. - Rummet var väldigt litet o trångt. Takvåningen var även väldigt varm o kvav, så vi var tvungna att ta in en fläkt. Frukosten var ”en ta själv i kylskåpet” frukost, vilket kändes väl enkelt. Läget var bra, men annars inte mer.

The house is within walking distance of City Center, although it is a 30 min walk approx. The host will be more than happy to call you a taxi. It was approx. 10 euros one way to O'Connell street. Parking is on-street, ask the host for a parking pass. We would definitely stay here again should we get lucky enough for a second trip to Ireland! :)

It was super close to local transit that took everywhere you needed to go. There were also lots of food options in the area. If I am ever in Dublin again I will stay here.

The host (Jack) was very welcoming and informative as was Jenny (cook) who made a fabulous breakfast and was also a great help in giving ideas of tourist spots etc. I would highly recommend this property and will defiantly return here when I return to Dublin

Jack took us back to the airport the day we came in once they had an automatic available for us saving us the cost and time of paying and waiting on a taxi. He offered it when we were sitting down in the living room, we never even mentioned the idea or speak it into existence. Very kind couple running this Bed and Breakfast. Nice location and in good distance to everything in the area. If we end up coming back to Ireland, or anyone that we know is going, we will refer them and stay ourselves.

- Laurel (10/5): - Lovely hosts. Very helpful with suggestions for getting around and seeing the sights. Arranged cabs when needed. Location is in a quiet residential area away from busy touristy areas but getting to those areas was easy. One thing to beware of...low sloped ceilings in the upper rooms. My fault, not theirs since I didn't learn the first few times. My roommates had a good laugh at my expense.

- Janice (6/5): Breakfast - Quality of room very good but we had paid for breakfast and received none. We had to be up early for ferry and had asked what could be left out for us. We were told there would be bread and milk in the fridge. However, neither was provided so we could have no cereal or toast and there was no coffee either. We had to travel on empty tummies. Not great!

He organised somewhere for us to park our car as parking is difficult in the area. Jenny cooked a great breakfast and gave us many tips of where to go and what to see. We could walk from Avoca to the city very easily. The local pub Fagans provided great food and atmosphere. We would highly recommend Avoca.

- Mark (10/5): Brilliant B&B - Fantastic place to stay for a weekend birthday get-away. Avoca House is a brilliant little b&b, the breakfast is brilliant!! The rooms are really modern, comfortable and clean. Set in a great neighbourhood too, 2 great pubs and a cash machine at the end of the road, plus it’s on busy bus route so perfect for transport in and out of the centre of Dublin too (10 mins on a bus). Can’t fault the place!

- karen (10/5): Helpful and friendly hosts - If you are looking for a quiet, safe stay in Dublin with helpful proprietors, this is the place. It was a great place for a woman traveling alone, as I was. Avoca House is in a residential neighborhood about a 10 minute walk from the National Botanic Gardens, a must see if you like plants and gardens. It's less than a 10 minute walk from several main bus lines, and about a 12 minute walk to the Dart station. Jack and Audrey, the hosts, were tremendously helpful to me on my first visit to Ireland. I'm afraid that I pestered them with transportation questions--what's the best way to get to Howth, how do I catch the Dart, etc. After a travel snafu, I arrived unexpectedly early and without my luggage. Even though it was too early to check in, and they were finished serving breakfast, Jack insisted that they fix a hot breakfast for me. Then he directed me to local shopping so that I could buy a few things until my luggage caught up with me the next day. Rather than have me wait around for it, they signed for my luggage when it finally arrived. Finally, after staying for two nights while I was sight seeing, I left for a different hotel across town to attend a conference, leaving my treasured Yeti mug sitting in their hallway. Jack insisted on driving 25 minutes in heavy traffic across town to leave it at the conference hotel for me. Really--these are kind, generous, and thoughtful people.

Great breakfast (as well as a friendly lady serving us) and it was a great location (10 mins walk from croke park) 3 minute walk from bus into the city! Would recommend and would stay again. Good job guys!
- Melody (10/5): Avoca - Stay once and you'll return - Our visit at Avoca house was a very pleasant one – the home is in the quieter neighborhood of Drumcondra, and if you like to walk (as we do), very walkable to the Temple Bar district and downtown Dublin (about 20 -25 minutes). You also have the option of buying the Hop-on/ Hop-off bus pass at the house which will allow you to do the inner city loop to all of the key tourist sites. Rooms are very clean and fresh. There is a central hallway sink for filtered water if preferred. We encountered our host Jack frequently and enjoyed hearing how he purchased and renovated the property. He made several good suggestions for our time. The family dogs, Chili and Peanut are sweet Pomeranians. Peanut is a bit shy but Chili will greet you and escort you to the back stairs. Breakfast (included in the rate) was very good and cooked to order. There was also cereal and fruit available continental style. Fagan’s pub is 2 blocks away and a popular eating spot – food is quite good. There are also parks in the neighborhood – Griffith Park and the National Botanical Garden are easily accessed on foot. There is parking on the street near Avoca – it is fee parking, but let Jack know in advance that you will be driving. All in all Avoca House is a delightful B & B overall, with a solid base of return guests. – we hope to be back in Dublin again and this will definitely be our first choice of accommodations.

- Sandra (8/5): Great B&B close to transport to city - Very friendly staff made us very welcome. Were helpful in giving us directions to transport into city and provided info on local and city attractions. Also informed us where to get evening meals. The house is just a short walk to beautiful botanical gardens. The room we stayed in was comfortable and clean with modern bathroom. Breakfast was very enjoyable. They facilitated parking with permits.
- Prindle (8/5): Convenient location, Friendly Host, Good Breakfast - A very convenient spot to visit in the center of Dublin as well as convenience to the airport. Our host explained that he will be updating the room I had, which will make it nicer. The armoire was quite wobbly, so it's ready to go! My hosts also rearranged the bed to make twin beds for my daughter and me. Best of all, was the proximity to Fagans Pub , a wonderful traditional and colorful establishment dating back many years!
- Sarah (10/5): Highly Recommended B&B in Drumcondra - Loved our 3-day stay at the Avoca House. Both Audrey and Jack were so welcoming and very helpful in making recommendations and giving us directions to where we wanted to go. The Avoca House is an easy walk to buses to get into Dublin center or to the international airport. It's also nearby the Botanic Garden, a lovely and peaceful and very old botanic garden as well as the Glasnevin Cemetery which has a highly recommended tour. Also not far from Gravediggers Pub. Breakfasts were great -- full Irish or modified to your taste. We'll be back for sure if we're ever in Dublin again!
- Robin (10/5): Wonderful B&B in traditional Irish neighborhood - I loved Avoca House. It was everything we hoped it would be. I would give "Hotel Staff" six stars if I could. Audrey and Jack are delightful, Peanut and Chili are delightful, everything was delightful! We arrived way too early, and Audrey welcomed us at the door and sat us down for breakfast right away. There were no papers to sign, no waiting at a desk. We had coffee and juice then took a walk since our room was still occupied. Jack gave us directions for a local short cut to the botanical gardens so we toured those then hopped on a bus to the Dublin city centre. Four hours later, we returned to a clean room and our bags had already been stowed away for us - so sweet!! We stayed for five days and enjoyed every minute of it, though we were rarely actually at our little home away from home as we toured as much of Ireland as we could. But it was always so fun to come home late in the evening. Chili - a fluffy little Pomeranian and Jack's personal body guard, always inspected us and our packages at the door. He would give us a sniff and let us pass - it was adorable! After a great night's sleep, Audrey provided us with a wonderfully tasty Irish breakfast and I will definitely miss her sausages. Very, very good! We absolutely loved it! Keep in mind, this is a B&B. There is no dining room, no in-room service, no restaurant, etc. What it is, is a delightfully charming real Irish home with great people. I will be back, sooner rather than later!
