Guest Reviews
- Mandy (9/5): We had a great stay for large group. - Common areas were great. Excellent for our group of 22 people. Rooms were all good, clean and each had a small ensuite). Grant the host would answer calls (and answer questions), and arrange pick ups/drop offs on arrival and departure (no staff are present at the house after check in).
Breakfast wasn't included, but there is a very functional and large kitchen which is available to be used.. and lots of fridge/freezer space. Location is a little out of town, but there are restaurants you can walk to. On a plus side, there are 2 cars made available to guests which is very handy. More explanation/information around how the bus system worked would be very useful.
- Marko (4/5): Stolen shoes, unexpected visits to the room etc... - They make everyone remove shoes before going in - well someone stole my shoes and they did nothing to find out who and how...
Also - one night we woke up while one of the workers was going through our stuff in our room! He seemed drunk. The hotel explanation was sleep walking... go and figure.
Also there were really loud parties on many nights.
I dont recommend this place to anyone!
- Mia (10/5): Hakuba HOME - Our stay at Hakuba House was incredibly homely. Grant and his team are exceptional and went above and beyond to make our stay in Hakuba the best it could be. It was great to be able to come home after a day on the slopes and relax by the fire with a drink from the bar. Hakuba house is conveniently located near to shuttles and restaurants, and the staff were happy to drop us to dinner and make reservations for restaurants and Onsens.
- Shu (10/5): - perhaps it's up in the snowy mountains, i like it that it's very homely and welcoming place where we can look forward to made-to-order egg muffins for breakfast every morning before we hit the slopes. there is a cool hangout area on the first floor where guests can gather around the fire place / play pool / have a drink at the bar. As there are less than 10 rooms in the house, so we pretty much know whom our neighbours are and that's a nice touch.
- Simon (8/5): - It was a very friendly place.
And comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really friendly and helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble. Great relaxed atmosphere. Onsen and bus stop next door and free shuttles from the accomodation to slopes in their morning and restaurants at night.
- B B (10/5): Hakuba House Hotel Rocks - The lodge was excellent value for money, on the slopes, near to all the bus and rental services and had great onsite facilities (drying room, bar, pool table, quite area). That was great, the staff from Hakuba House on the other hand were amazing, friendly, knowledgeable of the area and things to do. Whilst we were staying there, my family fell ill, the owner found us a doctor, transported us and waited before taking us to the local pharmacy to translate. I can not say enough about the Hakuba House team, we will definitely be going back.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - the room and the shared bathrrom was really dirty, I had to was the pilowcase my self becuse it was really dusty, they did not replaced the towels and for some reason they left the room door wide open every time, and wen I complaint to the owner about the open door he said not to worry because no one there would take anything.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff excellent, happy to drop and pick up in the evenings. Cosy lodge atmosphere and amenities. My son left his bag in the car, they were happy to bring it to the station, very helpful. Food reasonable but no pressure to eat there every night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room are very small ..no tv. Bathroom so small. Very uncomfortable
- Murray (10/5): Warm and welcoming lodge - We had a great family holiday at Hakuba House. Grant and the crew were all very welcoming and their knowledge of the surrrounding area is exceptional. There is a night shuttle run by Hakuba House that will take you to and from your restaurant if eating out. The lodge is located close to the slopes and they run a shuttle bus in the morning which was handy as we had our 5 year old with us. One of the best places I have stayed at for a ski holiday.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Small rooms, but a pleasant stay with friendly staff and free shuttle service for dinners and bus terminal.
- Duncan (10/5): Ski in ski out to the lodge - Had a great time at Hakuba house thanks to Grant and the team. The bar downstairs is a great way to relax and talk to others sharing the house at the end of the day.
The lodge is in our opinion located in the best part of Hakuba, there are several nearby bars and restaurants and you can ski down to the Sakka chairlift in the morning and back along the cat track to the house when the evening roles round.
Whenever we needed to get somewhere someone from the house was more than willing to drop us off and offer advice on what to do.
Will definitely be back.
- natalie (8/5): Nice homely lodge with close access to slopes - We stayed 6 nights at hakuba house with Grant and his team. The room was comfortable especially the bed. Bathroom was tiny but that's common in japan. The breakfasts were great and the dinners excellent when we couldn't be bothered to go out. The hotel offers dinner drop off's which is great and there are plenty of places to eat within a 15-20min walk home.
Location is good and if your a good skier cab ski in/out. If not it's only a short walk to the slope.
