Guest Reviews
- Zaki (1/5): Macam hanat! - Nothing CILAKE HOTEL BAU COLOK! LANTAI BILIK BERPASIR KATIL PUN ADA HABUK. LUAR BILIK BAU COLOK PASTU BAU KEPAM. HALLWAY ADA TIN SARDIN KOSONG. DAH MACAM SARANG MAKSIAT. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL.
Patutnya bilik ni rm 30 je. Bukan sampai 70. Puih!

One stop and your in KL central.
Air conditioning in the room Could be a bit cleaner
- Fabian (3/5): Good location with decent staff but room was too smelly - Location was fantastic. But the pillows and mattress were very smelly. Feels like either they didn't change the sheets, or the pillows themselves were so old that previous stayers bodily odours have accumulated much into the pillows and matress. Toilet was very small and crammy. Corners were grimy too. TV was not working.
- Joseph (8/5): Very good -
- Trevor (4/5): Disappointing -
- HYEMI (2/5): - 良かったのは交通の便だけです。
- LAU (10/5): - It looks like Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong movies. It's dirty and terrible but it is also a great excellent experience. If you want to do an ethnography of Kuala Lumpur, definitely you should pick up this one as your hotel. Furthermore, the reception can tell you a lot of interesting stories. However, if you just want to have a clean and comfortable place to sleep, you shouldn't pick this one. Fair speaking, although I had complaints about the environment, it was worth its price.
- KWOK WAI (6/5): - 不錯!職員親切!容易溝通!
- Pontanos (5/5): Passable - Its beside the pasar seni station. The building was old and dirty. They need to renovate everything. The chandelier was so dusty..
- Hakim (6/5): Pleasant - Have water heater Need electric kettle
- Muhammad (6/5): Pleasant -
- Morag (9/5): Superb - We liked the quirky decor and easy access to Chinatown. The owner was so helpful and friendly. The beds really comfortable, and shower and air con worked well. Liked everything.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - Location good
The guy at reception, Lucus awesome guy super friendly and welcoming had a great stay in Kuala Lumpur
Room had great view N/A
- David (10/5): Perfect for the budget traveler - City Inn Hotel is a great low cost hotel right in the centre of China Town in central KL. Lucas who runs the place is exceptionally helpful, and the place itself is clean, quiet, and has everything needed by the budget traveler, Furthermore, the hotel is surrounded by shops and restaurants of all kinds and all budgets, and just near a transport hub too. I loved my stay here. Next time I am in KL, I'll be back...
- Shayar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Quang (8/5): Very good - Great location, right in the middle of Chinatown next to some nice restaurants.
The staff was also nice and flexible with the late check-in The room can be a little bit cleaner but overall it's a good deal.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly, great location but tired. - Excellent service from the very helpful Lucas. Nothing was too much trouble.
Room very tired and cleaning had to be done by us before getting settled. Toilet, bathroom walls, table etc.
Wallpaper peeling, no protector on a stained, old mattress, duvet smelled strongly of nicotine, window in a rotten frame with big gaps.
That said; fantastic location in Chinatown and the light railway station is next door. Central Market, bus station and some of the best eats in KL are right on the doorstep.
Air conditioning works well.
- Mathias (10/5): Exceptional - I Really liked the staff
- Faraz (4/5): We left after one night - We left after one night We left after one night
- Faraz (4/5): He wanted to leave but we already booked 3 + 1 night we left after the next morning. There is work going on in the hallw - Good location, the guy Lucas nice fella. The rooms are not as clean as it looks on the pictures. My friend had lizard in his bathroom.
- Maxime (5/5): Passable - Room is spacious enough and the bed is comfy. AC works fine. Thought it was a bit noisy as we were just in front of the crossing, but it didn't bother us at night. TV has Netflix The night started well, but we ended up being bitten, which we suspect was from bed bugs (couldn't see any this time, but they're harder to see on dark sheets). KL seems to be infected with them at the moment (at least the cheap hotels in Chinatown).
- Alee (2/5): Very poor -
- Alexander (8/5): Very good - I think it is rather good for it's price. Great location (near the bus station, botanic garden and just 50 m. from metro railway).
I can't say that it was room was very clean, but for me, as a solo traveler it was normal. Photo in booking is actual, I can confirm it.
Special thank to staff, Lucas Yap. He was very helpful, stayed in contact in WhatsApp. He helped with all my questions in a couple of minutes)
- Glorija (10/5): Exceptional - staff is awesome, location is fantastic, price vs value is super high, great place definetly recomend very quiet and nice theres sadly no elevator, but thats oke, stairs are healthy and easy to climb
- Michael (10/5): Great value for money and the windows open!! -
- Nicky (7/5): good - near to place i going none
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Phuong (8/5): Very good - Was great and met all our expectations. Air con worked, beds were clean. Check in process was easy, and access back to the hotel was also easy. Rooms are a little small, especially with two beds in it. Bathroom facilities was the bare minimum, with no toilet paper, and very small. Concierge was only there the day we checked in, so don't expect much support.
- Bao (10/5): Exceptional - - The owner of the hotel is so nice, friendly and hospitable.
- Near to Petaling Street, Pasar Seni station and attractions, easy to move
- The beds are so comfortable
- Really quiet Nothing
- Loteroir (7/5): Become a Wong Kar-wai movie hero - The hotel is quite a find for those who seek a cheap stay in the centre of KL. Its simplicity is well compensated by the constant feeling of being in a Chinese movie
- The staff is 10/10. These guys are very nice, polite, friendly and helpful. Especially if you fancy a drink.
- The location is perfect: in the cozy Chinatown district with all that beautiful old Chinese architecture, hipster cafes and a night market to eat in the evening on the one hand and next to one of the major transport hubs on the other.
- The room itself stands out with its interior design and I liked it. It also has a convenient desk to work at. The bathroom is simple, but convenient.
- The staff can help you with the laundry for a few RM, which is convenient. - The mattress and pillows are quite hard, after 2 weeks our backs hurt a little.
- A thorough cleaning could make the room better (though I can't call it dirty).
- New bed linen would add to a rating.
- Steven (9/5): Great location - Location was perfect. Close to trains and buses. The bed was super comfy and having Netflix was great for killing a bit of time. The shower was great. Check in was great. The host was in constant communication. Nothing to complain about.
- Jason (7/5): Nice place to stay; would stay again - Comfortable bed, central location to Petaling Street and all the different transit options. Brand new AC. Very helpful host who provided a map, directions and recommendations. Typical wet bathroom for Asia but it was fine.
- Ian (5/5): Passable - The guy on reception friendly and helpful. Location was near to Mrt station and restaurants. Room is Ok for a night not longer. Ac was good. Decor and linen a little bizarre but that's a matter of taste. Everything was a bit worn out. Smoking allowed.
- Ijean (2/5): Very poor -
- Allan (5/5): Passable -
- Mortimer (7/5): Good - Location was excellent, 100 metres to railway station, 100 metres to Petaling street market. The entry stairs, were steep and difficult to climb with suitcase, no assistance was offered. rooms very dated, bathroom was ordinary.
- Lee (7/5): overall, a good location & value for money. - meet my expectation. no comments
- Paul (8/5): A great place to stay in Chinatown. Clean, comfortable and quiet with good transport links. - The City Inn was just what I needed. It's in an excellent location, really hany for Chinatown and with great transport links being opposite Pasir Seni MRT station. My room was ideal as it had a decent sized desk to work at. Coathangers to hang my clothes and even Netflix on the TV so I would watch films on a rainy day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was both secure and quiet. I'd certainly stay here again next time I'm in KL. Nothing. Everything was fine.
- Haffiz (6/5): Pleasant -
- Premkumar (1/5): Bad -
- Veknesvari (7/5): Good - Value for money, for those seek to rest sleep only and focus on vacation...these is the place... Looks dark need more lightings
- Nurfarah (8/5): Very good - near at lrt, best place and best food clean
- Nick (5/5): Passable - In centre Red line
- Jae (10/5): Exceptional -
- Muruganandam (3/5): Poor -
- Muhammad (4/5): Disappointing -
- Per (2/5): Very poor - Good location. Noise from the street and hotel manager. Used condoms on the floor when I checked in. Very dirty place. Stay away.
- Wuka (2/5): Dirty and very noisy. - Location is good, close to train station and Chinatown. Manager was very helpful on the afternoon I arrived with arrangements around a dental appointment I had for the next day. Cigarette butts left in a tin in the room. Strong odour of previous guests on linen, definitely not clean. Manager's birthday party that went ALL night. Sent him a message at 1.45am to let him know that sleep was impossible, received an apology and explanation about friends drinking but the shouting, singing and banging continued until 5am when the guests departed and then the domestic started. More apologies from manager in the morning but that doesn't help a ruined nights rest and trying to function the next day with no sleep. Moved to another hotel for my second night in KL. Same price with clean linen, no smoking inside the room and quiet at night. Very bad start to my stay in Malaysia.
- Nida (10/5): Exceptional - The location was amazing - in the middle of Kuala Lumpur, within China Town which is a very nice part of the city. The price for value is great. The hotel personnel is very friendly and welcoming. If you're looking for a social and local experience, this is a great place to stay at. If you want a more quiet experience, it is respected too.
- Violeto (3/5): OLD HOTEL - Dirty amenities, stairs, walls and old towels wash and use by hotel no extra available. Physical check room before pay. BUT PERFECT NEAR BUS TERMINAL AND METRO STATION.
- Jamil (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cerys (10/5): Exceptional - amazing and welcoming staff!
- Hamid (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carl (10/5): Perfect location - The hotel had a unique character and a bit mysterious vibe. I was surprised that my room had a fairly large window with a view, a bigger than expected smart-tv, and high quality pillows in the bed. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the location was ideal, right between Pasar Seni metro station and Petaling street. At times there were problems getting on the internet through the hotel wifi connection.
- Lee (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jan (8/5): Very good - perfect place, owner great and eager to help. a lot of noise from the street, only cold water in the shower
- Sofian (9/5): Superb -
- Livia (7/5): comfotable place to stay..the hotel’s location very strategic -
- Mr. (8/5): It was comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful - the property is located in the center which makes your travel more easier and fun
- Mr. (8/5): Very good -
- Sujono (10/5): Comfort, nice for family - Maybe the build must little renovation for good looking n nice n comfort
- MJ (2/5): - The cleanliness..
The room did not look as in web
So disappointing
- Scott (8/5): Great value! - This is a budget hotel, so don't expect bells and whistles. I stayed here for 3 weeks. The local area is great; lots of good restaurants and some cool bars in the area. Next to an MRT station which makes things handy. Staff are amazing and friendly!
Bed is comfortable. Room soundproofing isn't fantastic. Design is sort of dark, but I liked that. I had issues with the Wi-Fi to some degree. Ended up using my phone as a Hotspot for working, but was able to stream movies most of the time. Very basic hotel, but a good place to stay if you want to save money.
- Rozalia (8/5): - Its a budget hotel so please don't expect any surprise from this hotel. Their cleanness is okay, but I really dissappointed when I found that the bedsheets was old and terrible. The pillow was also old. I dont have shampoo/soap in my toilet. But overall its a good budget hotel.
This is an area that you will so hard to find food on the midnight. No restaurant beside or near with the hotel. only 7 eleven and KK supermart.
Facilities can be improve. Tv and wifi was superb!
- Verified traveler (4/5):
- Verified traveler (4/5): - If you be allergic this is not your choice, many humid but good staft and easy to travel cause its close to underground train station.
- starpink (10/5): good location - near Pasar sini station and chinatown
No lift , stair only
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Near Petaling Street Market plus have MRT and LRT so is easy to get there
- mon (6/5): Hotel in good location - The great thing of this hotel is location. Near MRT and others. Near pataling street and central market.
But in room have not much facilities (You have to bring your own towel)
- Grzegorz (6/5): - The dirtest hotel I ever seen
- Verified traveler (4/5): Rude staff and bad place overall - The staffs are so rude and not efficient to do the work. I pay two times because of their staff's lack of knowledge in technology and when I go to their place to do a refund, the staff act mannerless and refuse to refund. The boss took a week to refund and didn't even apologize. I wont recommend this place to anyone. Rude staff and the place is not maintained as well
- Anniina (2/5): Very bad experience - Disaster!! The room was dirty and noisy, we had dirty bed sheets and there were cockroaches in the shower. On top of that, just before going to sleep we found a bedbug on our bed. We ended up changing the hotel in the middle of the night, which altogether made our first night in Kuala Lumpur very unpleasant.
Such a bad experience, please stay away from this place!
- David (6/5): Very Convenient to Chinatown/Petaling - If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay in order to explore Chinatown, this place is recommended. Minimal furnishings, but it is just across the street from Petaling Walking Street. Can't complain about the place. Restaurants and shopping abounds.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good - It was nice to stay there, particularly if you are on a budget.
- LOO (6/5): - Near to lrt station, quite comfortable room, but do not have lift
- zephora (6/5): Affordable with fast wifi - The room was fine, comfortable beds and we slept well. Very fast wifi connection at 2nd floor.
The hotel is good for backpackers on a budget. We liked the room coz we enjoyed the fast internet and as we snap and upload automatically to FB, Twitter and IG.
The place was accessible to LRT and bus station going to Petronas Tower, Genting Highlands and KLIA1 and KLIA 2.
