Guest Reviews
- r0dalitab (10/5): Hijo Resorts Davao - EXCELLENT!
Hijo Resort' s Davao in Mindanao - one of the best resort on Davao. Relaxing to stay! Pool is facing the beautiful beach. Romantic, peaceful ..relaxing to stay..foods well very fined and rooms spacious is well equipped beautiful bedding. Smoothly, amenities & facilities is greatful, free breakfast, free parking, the Hijo Resort Davao-- has a business centre with Internet access conference facilities children's activities,, the hotel. Is very welcoming , hospitality, and appreciating thier guests . All in needs are there accommodating staff so kind & good server..
Cleanliness 5 / room 5/ value 5...
- Gracel (4/5): - The property itself was beautiful. However the quality of the rooms and amenities left much to br desired.
We rented a room for a week to unwind after the long trip and left after 3 days because the bed was so uncomfortable we could barely walk after sleeping on it. Add the fact that everything is overpriced and this is not a resort I would recommend.
- Amina Amilasan (8/5): - Staff are really amazing! We had a great time! There were also 2 horses in the area that makes it so special❤️
- Edward (2/5): - Property was nice, pool was nice, food was extremely overpriced for the portion given.
- stephen (4/5): - This property does not offer any of the adventures that are on its website. The beach is full of trash and the condition of the rooms us very poor. I would not recommend or stay here again. The only thing that helped them get 2 stars was the pool. However, since they weren't running the filtration system. There was swarms of mosquitoes. This was probably a nice place in the past but the owner/ manager has not kept it up. Staff was pleasant.
- David (6/5): - Beach, pool and scenery were great. On line they say they have tennis courts, pool tables, ticket and excursions, 2 restaurants....all non existant, and half the menu items were unavailable, yet no offer of partial refund for so much missing!
- marykatherineg2022 (10/5): One of the best resosrts I've been - Food is so yummy and big servings! The horse ride was so great and the horse was very friendly and the one pulling the horse was also friendly! I just wished I got to go to the forest tour huhu.... Its alright cuz,, I'll come backkkk!!! And just to let all of you know, the welcome food in the room which is the chocolate crincles are so yummyyyyy
- tninetails (10/5): Best beach adventure - My family and I had a great time here. swimming in warm sea and many activities to do . the meals were excellent as well as the staff. wish we had more time to spend here but as you no the Philippines has so much to offer. Will enjoy another stay as well as the horses.
- charovedua (8/5): Relaxing stay - I love the ambiance, came at 11pm and it was our first time to visit the place... it was 3km away from the gate but very peaceful but I am kinda upset with the room, serves good breakfast though and the welcome drink is great.. I hope they can improve the room :(
- nlibunes (8/5): Weekend Stay - My GF and I were from Davao and went to Hijo via bus then habal-habal. 1st stop we registered in their tourism office then proceeded to the beach front where the rooms/casitas and the restaurant are located. We arrived 3:15pm to find out that the room is still not ready. So the guy took our orders for dinner in advance to kill waiting time. I asked it to be served 7pm on the table we were occupying. Then he told me he doesnt recommend that because there's too many mosquitoes at night.
Well i thought yeah what a nice welcoming remark to your resort!
But I thanked the guy for his astounding honesty. The place indeed is mosquito infested. You cant barely open the door of the room because of mosquitoes going inside!
The pool is nice on the picture but it is poorly maintained. We utilized it around 730am, there's too many suspended leaf parts.
After swimming we preferred to order individual meals rather than getting buffet. The buffet was not really impressive and I didnt want to pay good money for bad stuff. After the meal we checked out.
But despite all those comments Im gonna rate our stay 4/5 because the place is solemnly peaceful. The view from the pool is exceptional. U get a view of the pool then around its opposite corner a shaded green space under the growing tree, and beyond that is the sea with the silhouette of the blue mountains at the farthest end.
My girlfriend enjoyed the stay and that's what was most important to me
- Pascal (8/5): - This was our second stay here in Hijo. The road is in concrete now, that's good ! The food at the restaurant was better than the first time but the coffee in the morning was not that hot. We love the Premium casita. So sad the beach is so dirty of plastic.
- gwenistry (4/5): Classic Casita Review - This is a pretty late review since we had an overnight stay at Hijo Resorts/Banana Beach on July 30, 2019. It was my sister's wedding so some party decided to book a few rooms in advance to rest after the event. Since the premium rooms were all fully booked on that date, we opted for the casitas - booked 3 rooms. The room was decent, it has 2 double-sized mattresses placed on the slightly elevated wooden floor and has its own bathroom. What disappointed us were the following:
1. The room smells of an old house but that's understandable because it's made of wood. There were some dead insects in the bathroom.
2. The blankets provided were thick fleece blankets that are really uncomfortable to use. My uncle requested for a 'normal' blanket because the fleece blanket triggered his allergy only to find out that they charge extra, about P100-200, for a 'normal' blanket. They eventually provided one for free due to health reasons. As for us, we continued sleeping using the same blanket since we don't want to pay extra.
3. MOSQUITOS! MOSQUITOS! MOSQUITOS! Alright, since we booked the casita, we thought that it already includes the mosquito net as per the advertised photos. Uh oh! No, it's not provided and requesting for one will incur another P150, or was it P200? Hmm. Anyways, I was taken aback when I was informed about this. But not to worry, Ma'am, Sir, they have complimentary Off lotions which was not placed in your individual rooms. They keep it at that restaurant near the casitas. So if I didn't ask for the mosquito net, we wouldn't have had the repellent and we just settled for that.
This review is for their casitas only. Their premium rooms might have given us a better experience only if those were not fully-booked. Nonetheless, since they are charging more than the average amount for their casitas, they could've provided much better amenities and ensured that the rooms were tidy before allowing customers to enter.
- Marjorie anne (10/5): - We had an amazing stay with our family and will definitely go back there soon!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Simple and pool for kids which allows my baby to practice
- 209jingg (10/5): Relaxing Environment - it"s a huge place. We were disappointed at first because of the wifi connection and smelly mattress but we were upgraded to a better one.
The environment is perfect but it woul have been better if we stayed longer. We enjoyed the archery that"s one of the activities they offer (not free) . The food is delicious. All in all the experince was fantastic. I Will definitely come back.
- 740brycem (10/5): Banana Beach Resort a Great Place to visit for a day trip or over night! - My business partner and I stopped here for the night and were very impressed with the room and the quality of the food at the restaurant. This resort has great ambiance, very quiet and the infinity pool is fantastic. I would highly recommend this resort for people that want to enjoy a swim and some great food!.
- Gary (8/5): Recommended. will return... - The room and facility is beautiful. The food was good. But the last two days could tell was overbooked with parties as it took 45 mins or longer for food.
- Werckmeister (4/5): Ant problems really spoiled the stay - I stayed at Hijo for 3 nights, and the first night was one of the most abysmal I've ever experienced. When I first checked in, the room seemed fine - very large, a bit old, the air conditioning was blasting right in front of the bed (which I don't like - easy to catch a cold), but things were decently clean but not spotless. Then at night, things went very wrong - I woke up because I kept feeling stings on me, and I finally saw black ants on the bed - around 10 of them! They were even all over the floor. Luckily they were black ants and not red ones, but still, I had to fend them off all night and didn't sleep at all.
To the resort's credit, they did move me immediately, and the new room was free of ants, luckily. But still, the experience of the previous night made me paranoid at night that ants would be back. So I slept really awfully. A shame because the staff were very friendly, and if this didn't happen I would have given the resort a more positive review (still not perfect - 3 stars perhaps). The place is still rather weird - near a cemetery and a rather abysmal-looking beach. We were also told not to walk around outside so much due to wild animals like monkeys and boars. But yes, the staff was very nice, and there were many fun activities there that I wish I could have partaken. Still, after the ants incident I don't think I can come back, sad to say...
- Joe (10/5): - The staff was awesome, the pool and restaurant with the beach right there was great
- Edward (10/5): Peaceful - Peace and quiet very few people some activities friendly helpful staff ... don’t for get mosquito repellent though
- Verified traveler (10/5): - If you are looking forca great location to get away and relax this is the perfect location. Great pool are, great food and environment. We loved it and will definitely go back 😉😊
- ricky (8/5): chill out - this is the second time we have relaxed there, nice and quiet, a perfect place to just chill out, you can do as much or little as you like, the restaurant food is good and a decent price and the service is good, a little Philippines style service where the food does not come out all at once. but it is hot and tasty, the restaurant/bar overlooks the pool and look past that you got a lovely view of the sea and ocean
- sglb18 (8/5): Great but.. - Would not recommend staying here overnight. Booked their Classic Casita cottage. There were many cockroaches. Shower, faucet and water smells of rust. Food is pricey. Paid 450/pax for a mediocre breakfast. On the upside, we enjoyed their Forest tour. Staff are accommodating. They preserved nature and allowed locals to catch fish, crabs in their property, which made me give them a 4-star instead of a 3.
- ronicconcepcion (10/5): Nice, Clean and Cozy - We stayed in a premiun casita room. It was very clean and cozy. The bed is nice and big. There is aldo a big couch which can be converted into another bed. Their food prices are not overpriced and tastes really good. They offer a lot of activities, one of my favorite activity is firing. The staff are friendly ang very accommodating.
- Lala (10/5): - Me and My Family was really Impressed with the Rooms because it is so nice, spacious, and clean..though the beach isn't so very enticing but they've got it covered by their pool which helped a lot..breakfast by pool is awesome..food is also good..will definitely coming back..
- lchilcoat2000 (8/5): Beautiful, Relaxed Resort - Having lived in davao for 2 years this was my first trip to Hijo Resorts.
Have to say I’m thoroughly impressed with the amenities and the total resort atmosphere .
Pool and Restaurant are very nice and relaxing. This resort if you seek peace and quite and over 700 hectares surrounding you and the beach and mountains is a perfect resort and at peace with the world. You cam help but chill out and relax here.
Room very pristine clean with all amenities and over 30 meters in size .
Be sure to reserve an air conditioned Casita which comes with a King bed and ultra comfortable.
Bath is huge and shower is great.
Thumbs up for a perfect get away within an hour and a half from Davao.
Is really wonderful resort to visit with a competing daily rate.
Will cost you about 1000 php if your taking a taxi from Davao to the resort.
Also took the forest / jungle trip which was great. About an hour an a half for 300 php.
Our tour guide Ergent was excellent and very informative .
If you come to Davao you should take a day or more to visit Hijo Resorts.
- Shyn (8/5): - Very good experience, four star resort really. Pleasant and polite staff, affordable prices, great good. Wish there was more food choices, but there was more than enough to chose from. We had a great time. I would recommend it and will come back again.
- lyzapamelamendoza (2/5): Dirty room - Arrived late, booked a classic casita for 2 pax but the gave us just 1 towel. The bed sheet are dirty. It seems like they didn’t change it. the shower curtains have blood stains, walls in the shower has mold. Staffs were amazing tho, hands down. But the room is dirty. Would never go back.
- Ed (8/5): Far from everything - Like in most cases the staff is great, The hotel is about 2 hours from Davos airport. The room was very clean and had great internet. I went during off season so not many people around.
A few water sports... I recommend this hotel if you need some alone time recharge the batteries
- erbas617 (10/5): Amazing Davao Nature experience!! - I can say that our experience in Hijo Resorts is a rollercoaster ride -in a good way somehow. We arrived earlier than the standard check-in time yet they were considerate to entertain us and provide us our reserved premium casitas. 👍🏻🌟We were amazed by the resorts’ vastness and quality of accommodation. 🌟
The casitas were spacious and luxurious, complete with amenities. However, came the night, it rained so hard and the power supply of the whole resort went off. They assured us that their generators will be working soon but we waited for so long and even had to eat our dinner in the dark. There were no emergency lights working but they provided candles. After dinner, we were informed that due to heavy rains, some trees toppled over the power lines and that electricity will probably resume early in the morning. It’s commendable that they offered to transfer us to the other part of the resort, the Plantation House, where there’s a generator temporarily powering some lights and water supply. We went to check the rooms there but they are still not well lit, not as nice as our casitas and the generator is not sufficient to power amenities such as AC and wifi.
Because of this, we decided to stay in our Premium casitas almost near the beach since the ventilation there is much better. Its a good thing that our casitas had screen doors and windows so we were able to open them up and allow the cool breeze to come in. I am impressed with the resort’s staff as they assisted us all the way and assured our comfort during the unpleasant situation.
They gave us candles and potable water to use during the night. Still, we had a good night sleep as it was windy and the sound of the waves from the sea was pretty relaxing.
There was still no electricity when we woke up. We were told that the power lines were still being fixed so they offered everyone a full refund of the rooms that were booked.
We weren’t able to completely enjoy our Premium Casitas and the resorts amenities, but in the end, we were still happy and relaxed. The staff did not fail to secure our stay even during the worst and unexpected event.
Btw, Banana Chips with Mayo dip is so super Good! You may want to bring some extra snacks before going in since resto is only until 8pm. Last call order is 7:30pm. Stores and other establishments is too far from the resorts.
- Peterson (8/5): A Nice Resort - Room is big and comfortable. In house tour and activities are interesting and worth it. Going out of the resort without your own car will be a problem. Overall, it is a nice resort.
- AppleB775 (10/5): Great service. Place is big and clean. - The service on this hotel is excellent to say the least. Everyone is very polite and accommodating. The rooms are clean as well. The property is well maintained. I would definitely recommend this to my family and friends.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful place and good service - Everything was ok. Had a great stay. The only downside is the beach not so inviting.
- Belen (8/5): Close to beach, place is ideal for lovers, seniors - I love the environment, so much to do without going downtown!
- andreairinnav (10/5): Truly a relaxing place - I went here with my friend last Feb 24 and we stayed for a night. The place was really amazing like we were treated like Princesses, I mean seriously. The moment we reached the place, the guards were so accommodating along with the front desk and the van driver who took us to the room since we didn't have our own car. From there, we were warmly greeted by the staff of the restaurant and gave us the "welcome drinks". We booked the Premium Casita and I was really amazed on how huge and stunning it was. What I really liked about the hotel more was their pool. It was so huge and really fits for people who couldn't swim since it was only 4 feet. We swam the whole night and since there were only few guests at that time, we had the pool all by ourselves. We tried the forest tour and I got amazed on how much I didn't know about trees. Anahaws were so big and tall and there were also century old trees there. We crossed 9 different hanging bridges and got to see big monitor lizards, wild boars and pigs. Overall, Hijo Resorts was one of the best hotels I have been to. I highly recommend this place to people who want to experience both relaxation and adventure. Truly for family, friends and people who want to try a different hotel experience.
- jengjings (2/5): Resort - i don't like the surroundings of this resort because of its poor strategy in maintaining and developing the area. and i don't have interest to experience fresh air in this resort.this resort also is very common for me i i don't like the area.
- maribel_camelotes (10/5): very relaxing place - I love the place. Very relaxing, not crowded, food is good specially their pizza supreme. my kids like the forest tour. The next time we will try the river tour. staff are accommodating esp the forest tour guide. this is the first time we saw a live wild boar. swimming pool very clean, chlorine undetectable.
- litop2016 (8/5): Unwind after a busy day - Hijo resorts davao is one of the luxury resort in town. It is located about 50 kilometers from davao city. It is very conducive to unwind because it is a quite place for you to spend the day alone or with company. A black sand beach is just a walking distance, very safe to swim because its shallow and clear water. It has also swimming pool with various depth both for adults and children. You can also take a tour to their mini forest with few wild animals. Since the resort is at the middle of a banana plantation you will difficulty to take public utility vehicles so you to arrange with their office for your transport for to and from the resort. Food is good and you can order food that you want from their menu. Price is affordable for you have choices of the type of room you want.
They can also accomodate conferences or meetings.
- babysand (10/5): Amazing - Thank you so much ,I had a wonderful days and nights together with my ling time bf, and soon we will coming back again in again, because we both like the place, a not crowded place ,it's a romantic place for a couple, I enjoy there so much .The staff are very friendly. See u soon again guys 😚☺😚
