- Lesley (9/5): Great art deco hotel with friendly staff and excellent meals. - Good renovation, handy to town, excellent restaurant, friendly staff. Stairs, but that’s Moore on us!
- Sheila (10/5): Couldn’t have asked for a better experience at this venue - Staff were very accommodating and helpful - nothing was too much trouble - food in the restaurant downstairs was amazing we stayed 3 nights and every meal we had was fantastic quality- on the Friday night they even had a gentleman playing the piano whilst we ate - we have already booked our next stay there in October
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Kirrily (7/5): - Gorgeous TV didn’t work
- Geoff (10/5): - Outstanding place to stay. Highly recommend.
- Kristine (9/5): Great place to stopover on a New England road trip - Lovely rooms, great location, super-friendly staff and an excellent bar & restaurant.
- Olga (7/5): - Great location and accessible No opportunity to open windows, front door and window (that can’t be open) to street which is noisy. Odd that rules prohibit eating in the room.
- Alison (7/5): Lovely old country pub and good location to walk around town - Location was central
Bed was comfortable Was offered a room upgrade for additional cost with mountain views however this was unnecessary as windows were high set and not really a relevant reason to upgrade given this room was also quite narrow

- Susan (10/5): A character filled property in the heart of Tenterfield - A lovely character filled. property right in the heart of Tenterfield Rooms were comfortable with a very spacious bathroom The food in the restaurant was also delicious
- Michael (9/5): -
- Chris (10/5): Great staff, very comfortable - accommodation and the meals
- Geoff (9/5): - Location
- Amanda (9/5): - The restaurant was closed so we cannot rate breakfast. We were told there were plenty of places to eat in the town but as it a Monday we were there, many were closed. The Sing Wah Chinese saved the day...the food was excellent. Thanks to the Coles staff member for the recommendation.
Our dachshund enjoyed his stay too. The only functional issue was that it was hard to fill the kettle.
- Julie (8/5): Helpful staff at restaurant who checked us in. - Modernised but kept historical features I could not charge my phone at any power point in my room.
The bathroom door lock was broken.
- Simon (9/5): classy, stylish and comfy - the fitout and decor. very tsstefull plant placement in the bathroom. Plants on the verandah/patio need regular water, fertiliser, pruning and maybe some mulch in the pots. I pruned them by hand (dead branches) and we watered them. probably be good to include the verandah/patio in the cleaning routine. That space wasn’t quite up tibghe fantastic room 😊

- Ross (10/5): Excellent -
- Loren (10/5): -
- Restante (10/5): - Clean. Easy access. Amazing staff. Needs microwave. Dog water bowl.
- Brendan (10/5): -
- Kaye (10/5): Beautifully decorated and so comfortable! - What a beautiful hotel in the Main Street of Tenterfield. We were able to get a pet friendly room with our little dog and it was so easy to stay in. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was very spacious. We ate at the restaurant a the outside area and the food was delicious…def highly recommend. Nothing
- Mrs Theresa (9/5): Great stay - Great location, great staff and great meals How you return key early could be better but that’s a minor point.
- Amanda (8/5): Very relaxing - The hotel was lovely and certainly gave a period feel. The rooms were roomy, bathroom very appealing.
It was quiet..
Nancy was very helpful in settling us into the hotel.
- Shayne (10/5): -
- John (10/5): - Great service and food.
Fantastic room
- Chris (10/5): Excellent, great accommodation and great staff -
- Jon (7/5): Stylish hotel but a little pricey. Great restaurant & bar - Pleasant rooms & bathrooms I’m pretty sure I was the only one in the building. Unusual.
- Karen (10/5): - Everything. Can't fault it.
- Chantel (5/5): -
- Melanie (7/5): It looks nice but I can’t confirm if it is - This hotel has been renovated and clearly is very nice however the whole place was closed the day we arrived so no bar or restaurant. No reception staff Waiting for someone to come and check us in was both annoying and unexpected. I had been warned the restaurant would be closed but not that the whole hotel would be closed. We were disappointed we couldn’t get a drink in the bar etc
- Dinah (9/5): -
- Rossco (8/5): -
- Glenise (10/5): - We had a lovely stay.Check in was very welcoming, room was spotless and perfect for our small dog as it was on the ground floor leading out to the main street. We had a fantastic dinner on the terrace.Service was exceptional. Will definitely return.
- Monique (10/5): Excellent staff, friendly and efficient. Clean, well-appointed room, great restaurant. - Hotel accommodated my quiet, old Golden Retriever, which is not easy to find in most Australian towns. Great ground floor room with direct access to the street. Really clean and well-appointed room with large bethroom, refrigerator and tea making, facilities, TV and nice sitting area.. Loved our stay although (not a criticism), access to the rear, fenced dog-friendly area required a bit of a walk around the back of the hotel which at 2 am with an old dog was a challenge. Otherwise, it was perfect for both of us.
- Sam (9/5): Lovely location, very pleasant. - Beautiful room, stylish decor and lovely breakfast spot on the balcony. The staff were delightful. Trucks use the main road through Tenterfield which is a bit noisy at times.
- Lynda H_ (10/5): Heritage charm with contemporary finishes. - Beautifully appointed heritage hotel in the heart of Tenterfield. Everything was perfect.
- Lianne (8/5): Lovely atmosphere, great find for a regional property! - Very cute old heritage building. Middle of town, parking and restaurant on site. Stairs are an issue with luggage or mobility issues. Could have more bar space rather than all dining.
- Jenny (7/5): It was adequate for one night - It has been refurbished and is lovely. I was disappointed because I thought I had booked a room with a beautiful bath. Room very small nothing like the photos.
- Cliff (8/5): Good for one night while in transit. Nice open fire in the lounge in the winter. - Location is good, centre of town. We had a good room, very nicely furnished and good ensuite. It is a disabled access room so there is additional room to manoeuvre around the room. Lovely amenities, clean and great art deco style renovation to the entire building both inside and out. Good parking at the rear. Our room was at ground level for disabled access but could only be entered from the street. The bed is queen size. We would have preferred it to be king size for the room. The windows to the street only had night time curtains so there was no privacy to the street if they were open. The room was too dark with the curtains closed. Some venetian blinds would be an good improvement to the room and internal access (which was exclusively for staff) would have been preferable.
Downside was the bar and restaurant were closed on the Monday night we stayed.
- Lynette (9/5): -
- Richard (9/5): -
- Jo (8/5): -
- George (4/5): -
- Gaynor (10/5): Great country town hotel - Nice and cosy, fireplace in bar are with big comfy seats, amazing dinner (rib steak), free parking, central town, quiet room (Rm 7) A little bit of a luggage hike Fri car park to bedroom. But not an issue for us but might be for some.
- Steven (8/5): We will be back. - It has the best restaurant in town and the rooms are well appointed and spotless. On this trip only the disabled room was available and this is a little noisier than the upstairs room in which we have stayed in previously.
- David (9/5): - Convenient location to waterfront. Comfortable room.
- Brad (9/5): Perfect taste of Tenterfield - Loved the beautiful guest room & bar downstairs with open fireplace Not a thing 😄
- Karen (10/5): -
- Andrea (9/5): -
- Jacqlyn (10/5): -
- kevin (10/5): A boutique hotel that surpasses your expectations. - This property was an absolute gem . An amazing dog friendly room . The hotel is beautifully appointed as was our room . The food truly deserves 5 stars not your normal pub food . It was truly a boutique hotel. A special shout out to Mandy who made us feel so welcome and went the extra mile when we checked out and left essential medication in our room also thank you Tim. Do yourself a favour this hotel is just a truly wonderful experience and thank you for making our fur baby so welcome. .
- Misha (10/5): Enjoyable stay - Great room and restaurant. We really liked Tenterfield a lot as a town. Room is lovely, although a little expensive. Would stay again though, we really enjoyed it
- Joy (10/5): -
- Anni (10/5): Happy we Stayed - would stay again - Great experience staying in in an old Hotel. One could imagine what it was like in the past , but with a little bit more comport. we had dinner there. and the chief was one of the best. everything had the most wonderful flavors. Would go again just for the dinner. liked it all
- Christopher (8/5): -
- Geoff (9/5): -
- Stefanie (8/5): Will definitely stay and dine here again - Lovely staff
Wonderful food
Beds were comfy
Great shower
Loved the fire place in the restaurant Tables in the restaurant very small, seats a bit uncomfortable
The noise of the aircon units on the side of the building. Only the first night though
- Darcy (1/5): -
- Nicholas (8/5): -
- John (8/5): Third time there and enjoyed the stay again. - We were allocated a room on the outside of the hotel. It was fine for the two nights but we were surprised that our attention was drawn to it when we booked. An oversight on our side?
- Kylie (10/5): Enjoyable comfortable stay. - I loved this property. Old building renovated beautifully. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms lovingly renovated.
- Leigh (10/5): Beautiful property. Amazing staff and restaurant with cosy fireplace. - What a find. Beautiful boutique hotel in the centre of town. The room was beautifully decorated, warm and cosy country hotel.
Walkable distance to coffee shops and restaurants, however we ate at the hotel and did not disappoint. Nothing, wished we could have stayed another night.
- Susan (10/5): - We’ve stayed at the Commercial a few times and never been disappointed. Easy booking and easy checkin. Great bar and restaurant.
- maxine (7/5): -
- Marie (7/5): -
- Lee (10/5): - A lovely spot to stay for a mini break. Rooms are comfortable and ultra clean. Staff are helpful. easy parking for your car. Situated in the centre of town. The dining room is nice with good options on the menu. What I didn’t like was that we had only just begun our entree when they brought out the main meal. This meant they sat on the pass again for too long making the meals suboptimal.
- Debra (10/5): - Lovely hotel with a great restaurant. Very friendly welcome.
- Ubaldo (8/5): - All was amazing the only thing that annoyed us was a $20 charge for our fur baby that was not disclosed on booking the room clearly with a pet included in the booking
- Terry (8/5): -
- Ashley (5/5): - We had a dog, so the price was frankly extorionate. If we had another choice in Tenterfield we would have grabbed it. If we had to do it again we would go directly to the hotel. Much cheaper.
The room is on the street and very noisy. I felt ripped off by booking.com prcing
- libkat (10/5): Beautifully renovated Art Deco pub. - Friendly service upon check in. Very clean room and bathroom. Lovely bar staff. One of the best showers ever. Very nice to see an old building renovated with much of its original interiors intact upstairs and in the foyer. Considering it is a pub, it’s not very noisy.
- Robert (9/5): -
- Nadine (10/5): - Clean and central location
- Terence (7/5): -
- Nicole (10/5): Excellent - The room is really gorgeous. Very comfortable shower great stayed in the room where pets are allowed and it was really good.
- Michael (6/5): -
- Claudia (10/5): -
- Belinda (8/5): -
- Kerrie (9/5): -
- Geoff (7/5): We paid a premium to be located in the heart of Tenterfield without realising that there was nothing there - & nothi - Large rooms Having to carry our bags up several flights of stairs.
Bar & restaurant closed Easter Monday - so no breakfast etc. available for guests.
- Nicole (8/5): -
- Tom (5/5): Ordinary. - Love Tenterfield. Beautiful location. Supposed to be soundproofed. Could hear other patrons. Very disappointed with the size and quality of the room.
Very expensive for a very ordinary small hotel room.
- Dusan (9/5): Clean ,comfortable and Great service . - Clean Great service Food was good but expensive.
Small chips and garlic bread $26
- Colin (10/5): It was a welcome oasis in a desert of cheap motels. As was the nearby Stonefruit restaurant among the paucity of eating - The clever layout of the apartment and the hotel's location in the centre of town, with a good choice of cafes. Disappointed that breakfast was not available... and no coffee machine in the room.
- Susan (10/5): -
- TREVOR (9/5): A very nice place to stay for any number of nights. Great position, very good restaurant and staff. - Dinner was salmon & vegetables which was very nice & reasonably priced. I thought that the button squash looked like they were a bit old when they arrived but still tasted ok. The choice of wines was very good, and the staff were very good.
- Catharine (9/5): - Very clean and loved the space on how it was designed. Nothing
- Christine (8/5): - The room was immaculate. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open on a Monday night although there were other restaurants near by.
- Christopher (8/5): - Right in the middle of town and quiet enough.
No undercover parking.
- Alicia (9/5): - Great location, spacious room and excellent restaurant No undercover or near room parking
- Andrew (10/5): - The young lady that booked us in was not only pleasant and efficient but also made us feel comfortable and happy that we chose to stay at the Commercial.
