• WessexRed (8/5): Great View From a Comfortable Lodge - The views from the property and our room were stunning. The bed was the most comfortable that we had in our tour of South Africa and the hospitality shown us by Derek and Lilien was warm and friendly. Our stay was towards the end of the season so a few housekeeping matters needs attention but this did not in any way detract from our enjoyment of our stay. Hout Bay is a nice town with a lovely beach and to approach it along Chapmans Peak Drive, as we did, was a highlight of our holiday.

I requested a later check-out but only received a response after we'd checked out. It would have been great to have spent more time as we'd checked in late the evening.

This feels a little petty but maybe the rusty toilet seat could be changed, a light bulb in the room entrance and less squeaky single beds. As I say petty really as overall absolutely superb stay and would recommend for sure.

Host Derek were very kind and accommodating . Went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable . Recommend There were an hairdryer but nowhere to plug in in a nearby mirror . But we only stayed 1 night . As this guesthouse only Bed and Breakfast , we suggest to do your shopping before , as there is nothing nearby for food /shops etc . Did not bother us as we went for a wedding at Suikerbossie nearby .

The hosts and staff are so welcoming and hospitable and the beds are very comfortable. Hosts were very accommodating re a request to check out later in the day. Only two very small things which didn’t really affect us as it was such a short stay but would have had it been longer - nowhere to hang any clothes and there was a hairdryer but nowhere to plug it in near a mirror.

The location was stunning, but you need to hire a car to make the most of staying there, as there is nothing nearby for food/shops etc. More options to purchase food/drinks from the hotel other than breakfast.

Our room was a family delux and had a handy little kitchen with oven, microwave, stove and kettle. Lots of little touches that made us feel welcome, like a selection of books and delicious fruit in the main area, that you can help yourself to. Also ice cubes and wine glasses if you need them for your drinks.

No help offered with baggage despite being given a room on the top floor. Noone to see you off. The place looked unkept and even dirty in places. i e. Large cords are used as skirting boards in bedroom which are full of dust and debris. Terrace not swept. Doors and handles are dirty. The whole place looks like it needs a thorough deep cleaning. Gardens are also unkept.

• Saraphina (8/5): - The property is very homely and staffs are very helpful and friendly including the owner. However we quite surprised that there is no AC in the room. So we need to keep the front door open for fresh air. When doing that bugs and houseflies came into the room which is quite annoying. The room is quite well equipped with a kitchenette, microwave, a king bed and 2 single beds. Good for family of 4. Toilets is also very clean and all essentials are there.

• Fred (7/5): Pleasant stay in outskirts of Houtbaai - Excellent breakfast served. Friendly staff. Our appartement needed some maintenance, loose stuff, and some more modern equipment. The refrigrator was noisy, TV set was massive box.

To look over Houtbaai while eating a magnificent breakfast is the best start to a day for any traveller. The owner went the extra mile to accommodate our needs and we are extremely grateful to her for seeing the pickle we were in! It is so easy to just love her for her kindness!

Nice rooms, luxery lounge, breakfast space, terrace and a very nice pool area! If the place is fully booked parking becomes a challenge and needs a bit of driving skills as most people come woth 4x4 jeeps! All in all a very nice and luxary place, only advice to the management is spend some money and time on keeping up with the maintenance.

The room was too cold during the cold spell as there was only one heater. There could have also been water provided in the rooms being a luxury facility.
