Guest Reviews
- Cheyanne (10/5): - Friendly service, nice desk clerk, and he made sure I had a smoke free room (huge plus for me) I made the reservation last minute online and he still had the room available! Great service!
- Brittany (10/5): - Close to everything
- Joel (6/5): - The property is very dated, it appears that there is some attempt to improve such as recent paint in room. AC unit was leaking into the room. Grout was molded and separated between the wall and tub. No working exhaust fan in bathroom or place to hang clothes. Only amenities in the room were a small refrigerator, small microwave and TV. Several items were plugged into an extension cord which was dangling from the TV. The room curtains throughout the hotel are very old and falling apart. We will not stay at the location again.
- Juergen (4/5): Not recommended - Booked on website appeared to be acceptable for our 2 night stay. However. upon arrival, 6pm office door locked note on door, call this number if you like to register while calling someone came and unlocked the door upon entering noticed boxes, trash piled up in the corner, then a person came from the back room and registered us,since i booked on the web i was unable to cancell, or i would have at that time. I ask clerk if there are any restaurants near by she stated i dont know i am not from here.. Room was as plain as it can get, no decorations plain 4 walls bed and tv. Bed was fair, would not recommend this motel. Not what it advertises to be.
- KELSIE M (4/5): - Linen was stained,it had long coarse hair on the stained sheets and!!! A roach crawled across (or tried to) the bed. The shower was none existing the painted tub was peeling really bad. The shower curtains were dirty. I went to get clean linens brought them back to the room along with clorox cleaner and a roach fell out! When i spoke with front ofc the next day all i got was...what do you want me to do?! Tried to locate other hotels all were booked! Talladega was in town. Hope no one ever has to use this extended stay for ANY reason also electrical plugs did not work! Great hot water tho.
- Warren (2/5): - It is greatly in need of repair. In the bathroom
There were no safety bars in tub shower or slip mat. No stopper in tub or sink electrical outlets wires exposed. No room service no fresh towels for second day use. Musty smell thru the room. Would never recommend. I took pictures if you would like me to send to you please send email as to where to send. This experience has made me angry and I am disappointed in Travelocity for even listing this hotel on line.
- Carly (2/5): - Lied about age to book online.
- Tiffany (2/5): - When I got there to get the room the man was very rude. Even though I had paid for my room he refused to rent me my room told me to go somewhere else or otherwise he would call the cops because he didn't want to do the paperwork to get the room done. He proceeded to cuss me and disrespect me.
- Daniel R (6/5): - Didn't like the idea of standing outside to check in and out. The cleaning staff was very helpful when i needed them. No coffee pot to have morning coffee wasn't good
- Mark (2/5): - Room floor was dirty tub had bugs the towels had hair on them
- Kurt (2/5): - Room was clean but bathroom was differently not up to par
- Clair (6/5): - Very rude people and not clean and we didn’t feel safe
- Brittany (8/5): - In a great location it's the bugs and the amenities are not up to par
- Roberta (2/5): Disappointed - The lady running the counter the front desk was very rude and there was no there’s two pillows in the room here all in the bathtub no towels
- Brett (6/5): - Room smelled like an ashtray. Not the cleanest hotel.
- Lyn (4/5): - Overpriced!! Very old rooms, no coffee maker in room, no access to coffee in office/lobby area. Ugly stained towels in bathroom, no closet. Pillows are horrible. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone
- Mark (2/5): - This property is run down and dirty. Finish on bathtub was pealing off, molding along base of tub is falling off, floor in bathroom is rotting away and water seeping up through cracks, sheets had cigarette burns in them.
- Kathryn (2/5): NEVER AGAIN! Disgusting - Dirty, stained sheets, mold on the shower curtain, no fridge or microwave, hair in the shower, overall disgusting. There are prisons that have better accommodations.
- Jennifer (2/5): - Had roaches
- Milus (8/5): - I liked the location and the hotel is good. Hot water was excellent. Overall the room was clean. I would stay here again.
- Ameria (2/5): - 👍
- Gary (4/5): - There wasn’t a microwave or refrigerator or coffee maker in the room. The heat and air was not efficient. We were not happy and had to stay because it’s too much a hassle to change rooms or hotels. We’re are my rewards I have a card with you?
- james (6/5): American Inn - Near Fort McClellan - I arrived at 7:30 PM, but the office was not open. There is a number to call for service. I called, and the clerk/manager came to the window after about 15 rings. The room was clean and basic. It served its purpose. I left at 7:00 AM, and the window was locked tight. No key drop--so I just left.
- Katrina (2/5): - No one was there for me to check in the hotel and I was charged
- Minnie (4/5): - They had roaches old room need to be remodeled
- Tonya (2/5): - I had a roach come out of my bedsheets when i pulled the blanket back didnt have bed bug covers and hair all in my bed
- Robera (10/5): - office was very polite and helpful.
- BARBARA (4/5): - This was not a $200.00 a night hotel room. Not enough bath towels for 3 people (2 small ones). No one at the front desk the next morning to request more towels. Part of the bathroom ceiling was gone, no vent, just a hole where one should be. The room seemed to have peel and stick flooring that was bubbled up in the bathroom. Overspray on the bathroom floor. Very disappointing for $200.00
- Glenda (10/5): - It was really just to get some
Rest
- Ronnie (2/5): - Just a nasty room with roaches crawling around toilet not bolted down to the ground sheets having blood stains and other stains
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Property was in this repair needs updated rooms
- Curtis (2/5): - It was a dump
- Eric (6/5): - Not the cleanest in the room and condition. Would not stay there again
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Walked in to DISGUSTING dirty floors ,missing light fixtures, and a NASTY mini fridge. I cleaned all the floors, tables, etc with hot water and soap upon arrival .
- Bobby (6/5): Not Good! - Everything about this motel was mediocre. Plus no cups or toiletries, bag for ice bucket, towels not hung up, trash behind side tables, etc, etc...
- Sami (2/5): - The place smelled bad, you could smell it before you even walked in. There was dust and cockroaches eveywhere. The sheets were stained, dirty and smelled horrible. The front desk took forever too come for check in. Not worth the 120$. Also what the hell is an extra guest fee?!?!?!?!?
- Mellissa (6/5): Would not recommend. - Clerk tried to change room at check-in, instead charged me $15 more to keep double room. AC in room didnt work very well, ice machine didn't work, drinks machines didnt work. Would not recommend.
- AMANDA (2/5): - WE ARRIVED LATE IT WAS DARK AND WE ENTER ROOM WITH NO LIGHT ALL LAMPS DID NOT WORK ONLY LIGHT IN ROOM THAT WORKED WAS THE BATHROOM THE FLOORS WAS WOOD AND WAS NOT CLEAN WE HAD TO USE OUR LIGHTS ON PHONE TO CHECK BED WE WAS SUPER TIRED WE JUST WENT TO SLEEP AND LEFT EARLY THAT MORNING IT WAS A RIP OFF FOR WHAT WE PAID I DO NOT SUGGEST THIS PLACE
- Clifford (4/5): - Found multiple bugs in room, over all not very clean and staff was unfriendly.
- JAMES S (2/5): - Not a very clean property. We found dirty clothes in the room. We didnt feel safe while we stayed there.
- Omini (4/5): - Place is very dirty and unkempt, but staff are friendly and nice.
- brandonhP4517WX (2/5): Singal - Would not give me towels..Management was rude!vWas over priced compared to motel 6
No breakfast or coffee management was rude.I really hated my stay at American inn better quality and cheaper room in Oxford Alabama there was piss stains around the toilet didn't offer soap are towels for two people hated my stay at American inn
- Vincent (2/5): - The electric lock didn’t work. The room wasn’t cleaned properly before I arrived. Sheets were dirty. Clothes left from previous occupant. Only one TV worked. The heat didn’t work, it was 30 degrees outside. Lastly, whatever they use I’m their jetted tubs, broke me out severely
- Linda (4/5): - There wasn't a microwave & the towels were clean but dingy
- Sandy (2/5): - The room was dirty. The bed spread had cigarette burn in it. The toilet was clogged but they did fix it.
- Michael (2/5): - Lots of bugs in room, outlets hanging out of wall, low pressure in shower, also didn’t look like it was cleaned in a long time
- Debra (4/5): My husband's Birthday stay for Talledega - I booked two rooms for my husband's birthday trip to the Talledega race on October 3rd - just him and his 3 brothers, for 2 nights. They were tied up in traffic due to an accident, so were late getting to the hotel. My husband texted me "We arrived to find the room was a lake and the refrigerator a glacier melting on the floor". I called him at this point, and he said that itwasn't actually standing water, but it was "squeltchy".
He's still enroute back to Portland, so I don't know whether he reported it or not, but it wasn't what I was hoping for as a gift for his birthday. If he took any photos, I will send them to you.
- Jeffery (4/5): Poor room condition - One room had a huge leak in the bathroom coming through the ceiling, 2nd room had no tv
- Ellen (2/5): - This may be an inexpensive motel but it was not clean. The paint was coming down in parts of the room and bathroom. Sheets were stained! When I asked them to change the sheets I saw that the mattress was very stained. The TV did not work when we first got there and called the front desk on a phone that looked like it had never been cleaned and was very sticky and the front desk could not hear me! I guess you get what you pay for!
- Alvin (2/5): - I reserved a single room they put me in a double room with full of roaches. House keeping is very unsatisfactory. Bed sheets had gun on it, tub was nasty like someone just got out of the shower. Changed rooms
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Jacuzzi room was dirty, no towels, toilet paper, soap, ice bucket, pillow cases or any other similar items that usually come with a room...then, the bed was not made, there was a dirty hand towel covered in something on the counter! When I went to the front desk to ask about the room and its' condition, i was told I had to pay $50 more for 1 extra person or leave. I went to get my wallet and had $10 in rolled quarters and 2 twenty dollar bills. He told me to keep the quarters, $40 was okay. My husband and I have frequented this hotel because of the jacuzzi room since 2018, but this last trip there was probably the last
- Charlotte (2/5): It was awful... - I paid for a room with a jut tub and when I got there they told me the room was unavailable and would not even rent me another room and I paid online and it was nun refundable and the costumer service was poor as well. I WILL NOT EVER RENT ANOTHER ONE THERE because I'm 127.00 wasted now
- Andrea (2/5): Mold and long term renters! - The check in was fine, the lady was very informative. The parking area was well lite, but the hotel does allow for weekly rentals and seems to have a few long term residents. The room was okay and the bed clean. However we did not feel comfortable with the condition of the bathroom. There is no fan in the bathroom for ventilation and their was mold on the ceiling, and all over the shower curtain. Also mold around toilet.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Poorly kept up. the renovations had been done very sub-par craftmanship.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was burnt cigarettes, ashes and trash in the nightstand drawer. It was a non smoking room by the way. Hair in tub and the tv was broken. The guy at the desk was nice.
- JASON (2/5): Never Again - Facility is old. People actually live there as if it was extended stay. No coffee maker. Only 2 face towel. We went and had to purchase our own towels. Pillow had Black marks on them. Walk ways reak of Marijuana. Fridge was filthy. Other family room had food in there's. Overall the worst facility i have ever stayed at. I only chose this location due to all other were booked. Upon arrival we learn there was a race and football game being held. $210 for one night. There was a car in parking lot 3 hours idling. I must admit the parking lot is very well lighted. Owners were friendly. I hope so for the cost. But they talked through a window to you.
- Tony (4/5): I’d pass on this one - Horrible conditions, dirty, bathroom ceiling falling in, missing cover for the switch on the wall, no smoke detector (just wires sticking out of the wall), pass through door had no deadbolt and was barely able to close all the way, curtain rods falling off the wall, consistently dripping bathtub facet, and a really loud refrigerator. The bed felt like sleeping on a fold out couch bed with 2 small cheap pillows. We stayed 2 nights and never did get the room cleaned. I actually had to ask for clean towels. The floors were dirty, nothing had been deep cleaned in a long, long time, dusty, built up dirt/dust on the window ledge. And worst of all, there was a razor blade on the base of the lamp. I’ve never in my life been more UNIMPRESSED with a hotel in my life. I won’t be back, EVER. I’d recommend reading all the reviews BEFORE booking this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quiet location for ourtrip to Talladega Speedway.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - They double charged me. I foolishly decided to pay cash when I got there. 8 days later they charged my card provided by Expedia. Place is a total dump. No maid service. 1 old man runs everything. Maintenance, check in. I could hear another room doing drugs clear as day through the bathroom vent. The refrigerator was outside the room in the parking lot. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. By far the worst motel experience of my life. I will make sure my fellow comedians coming through to perform at Happy Hour Comedy Club know to steer clear of these disgusting crooks!
- Josephine (6/5): My visit to Anniston Inn - I got into town late evening. My room lamps were all missing light bulbs. I was unable to watch TV because of a problem with the cabling. The next morning, I asked the cleaning lady to provide me with bathroom cleaner and rag and I cleaned my own bathroom, countertops and swept the floor. After the cleaning, my stay was very pleasant.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Dirty and run down.... needs updating for sure !! Just not clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convenient location.
No refrigerator in the room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): THey love there towels! - There wasent any where to hang clothes. They only put 1 towel & 1 washcloth a day. mold in a few spaces . the jetted tub dident wk. Was improved since when stayed here before & used to have bad reputaion of being bad w drugs but seemed to have improved
- Brian (4/5): Never again. - curtains and towels were dirty. Not well swept. No answer at desk at checkout.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Can’t complain too much. You get what you pay for! They are pet friendly so that’s a plus.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I spent a little extra money and paid for the suite for more space. I will never stay here again. There was a needle in the living area. Outlet didn't work in the bedroom. In the bathroom there was electrical tape for the on and off for the jacuzzi tub. The ceiling was chipping off and was all over the tub area. The sink leaked. Everytime it we washed our hands the floor would get soaked. Ended up putting a trash can under the sink to catch the water. I would suggest to everyone to look elsewhere for a place to stay in the future..
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The property was dirty. Needed updating also.Would not stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very basic hotel but it’s clean and comfortable with a convenient location.
- Victoria (6/5): - The bathrooms need to be deep cleaned, cigarette burn on the top blanket on the bed. I stay at this motel due to the fact that is less than 2 minutes to my moms house. The staff have always been very friendly.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Like: bed was comfortable, price was ok
Didn’t like: AC unit in room 111 was loud and woke me up each time compressor turned on. Shady people around the grounds. Drugs likely being sold on premisis. Tub/shower old and in need of deep cleaning. There is no coffee maker in room. Nobody at the desk most times so went in.
- MBSay (2/5): Awful - This is not a clean hotel. We had no other options because of the Talladega 500. They gauged us because of that and charged the ridiculous price of $200 a night. There was no blow dryer in the room. You had to get one at the front desk and you are required to return after you finished with it. There was no iron and ironing board in the room. You can get an iron at the front desk, but they do not have an ironing board and therefore had to iron your clothes on the bed. The towels were paper thin and small. Coffee is also at the front desk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very pleasant, quiet. I had no probelms checking in
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property was in decent location, after hours check in is a window outside and had to call a number to get service. Check out also had to ring a bell and wait for someone to show up. Room was good for a short stay. Wouldn’t want to stay for an extended period of time.
- Tiakeefah (2/5): The Worst - Manager wife was rude, the room was dirty, she tried to charge me more to switch rooms when the online prices were the same, she ripped up my information paper and I had to do it again overall it was my worst visit ever and I’ve never had any problems with them before the husband is very respectful, he just wasn’t in town.
- Adam (10/5): Nice place to stay when traveling for work - Very nice stay and clean for the price!
- CJ (6/5): - The room needed repairs and the staff wasn’t readily available for checkout time. Had to wait 35 minutes to get checked out.
- John (8/5): Just a one night stay - Spend the night after coming down from Pa to visit the CMP facility the next morning, the service was very good, the room was clean but had visible repair work done to the tile in the tub/shower area that needed a little more attention. The best part was the bed, one of the best hotel beds I've slept on in years.
- Michael (2/5): - Room has mold and mildew. I booked 2 nights and a only stayed one. The bathroom floor stayed wet the whole time, water was under the tile floor seeping out
- Lisa (10/5): Wonderful Jacuzzi Suite - Huge room. Great price. Very friendly staff. Jacuzzi tub is huge and very comfortable as is the bed. Will stay again!
- Daniel (8/5): Good cheap hotel - It's not around much anything
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I liked the room access from the parking lot. At first impression, I was pleased with the overall value vs cost. However, after further look, and moving in, I was very disappointed in several things, but mostly the black mold in the bathroom of one room (I had reserved 2 rooms). Both rooms had fungi on bathroom tiles, and 1 room had a broken handle on sink and also water stop did not work in tub.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nothing to hang clothes on..no iron in room..bugs..
Pillow case dirty..floor nasty...
- Chester (2/5): - Saw a rat in our room. For continental breakfast there was cereal but no milk; All coffee condiments but no coffee anywhere in sight. Its a too good looking room for the little peo lems they have
- Dustin (8/5): No bugs🙌 - I got in pretty late Friday night and the guy wasted no time tending to me. He was very nice and helpful. I stayed it a two bed smoking room and it wasn’t the best I’ve ever seen. I think there were ashes on the floor it could’ve just been the floor pattern bc I was high. Really nice tv in the room. I didn’t even pull the covers up to sleep I just crashed on the made bed. For the price, it’s a great one night stay hotel. I had been reading reviews of hotels around that price in that area and all had reviews saying there were bugs in the rooms. It was a warm October night and I didn’t see a single bug so I was impressed👍
- michelelee123 (2/5): Nasty - Had to clean our own room as soon as we checked in had used sheets on the bed and mold all in the fridge and dust everywhere.!! We took our sheets to front desk and she got a attitude with us saying we're complaining to much. This place would be nice if it had a good housekeeping staff and new management. Management is very rude and unprofessional we will not be back! I would give this place a zero but it won't let me
- jessicag824 (6/5): Good budget inn - We got a $50 deal on hotels.com with a promo code. We checked in at 11 PM and still got prompt service at the front desk. The lady was kind and polite. We had booked another room for someone else and she couldn't find it on her computer, but we had the confirmation in hand so no problems.
We were there from 11 PM until 8 AM so we didn't have a full experience, I'm sure.
Our rooms were clean minus some renovation tell-tale signs (caulk or white paint on floor, a bit of paint spatter on linens). Our toilet paper was barely a half roll and had water damage on it (looked like it had been sitting on a counter and soaked up water, then let dry). Light above sink in bathroom didn't turn on but I didn't report it until we checked out. The lights outside still come in around the edges of the curtains and it has a typical wall unit AC that never turns off unless you do it manually.
I know all that sounds negative, but for me, if that's the worst I have to report, that's pretty good.
They have new management since 2016 who has renovated the place. They put down laminate or vinyl faux wood in the rooms so no gross carpet. They do have flat screen TVs and the pillows are of nice quality and they have an ice machine. Linens are of cheap quality and are rough (towels, bedspread) and shampoo comes in what looks like a condiment package. I recommend having your own toiletries.
No bugs, no rudeness, no noise.
It's a 2 star hotel folks, and as such, it's pretty good. :)

- xxoticb (10/5): New. Ml Upgraded Rooms w/Excellent Owners!!! - I absolutely love American Inn and it's new owners! There are very understanding, professional, and will do everything in there absolute power for you to enjoy your stay! The rooms are AWESOMELY REMODELED & CLEAN! It's quiet and it is no longer home to the local miscreants! Mr.Kenny & his family has turned what was one of the worst hotels into one of the NICEST HOTELS IN Saks, Alabama! I won't say I hope you will enjoy your stay because I KNOW YOU WILL! Come on and see for yourself! Let Mr. Kenny know if you enjoyed your stay by writing a review!
- leosmiley (2/5): Maids allowed to answer occupied room - The maids are allowed to answer phones in occupied. Room. While cleaning this is a load of crap I have been in motel business for many years. And in most motels this does not happen. So unless you want lots of trouble. Steer clear and it is drug infested dump
- sydneec2014 (2/5): DISGUSTING - This hotel is filthy and the staff is rude...they refused to give me the managers name because I wanted to make a complaint. There were roaches in the refrigerator. The shower had a moldy curtain and was dirty... The box spring had a large black stain on it and the pillows were brown and dirty. Not to mention it smelled of cigarets and dust. And there were boogers all over the bathroom door way. Absolute filth!!
- bubbazgy (2/5): Don't waste your money! - Umm rat dropping on bed, floor falling in,holes in walls, electrical problems plain out nasty not even enough hot water to fill Jacuzzi ! Floors stained and room stinks! No microwave, or coffee pot! Ice cost money! $100 for some trash worst honeymoon ever!
- Explorer2006 (2/5): Amenities are Deceiving - I was drawn by the price and impressed, but sceptical, by the amenities listed in the description. The lobby was a very small room that had a large table covered with a white plastic table cloth that was filthy and coffee stained at 2:30 in the afternoon. Not a good first impression. The room locks used old fashion keys. The only thing included with the room was an old TV with cable and HBO. There was no iron or ironing board, no coffee maker, microwave or mini fridge as stated in the room description. We stayed in a room with 2 double beds. There were no blankets on the beds but did find a wrinkled one in a drawer. Too bad for the other person. The bath tub drained very slowly and the bottom was stained. The free continental breakfast consisted of packaged cookies and coffee and we had no desire to try it. Ice cost 25cents a bucket.
