Guest Reviews
- Nikolas (8/5): - Stayed here before Shrewsbury half marathon. Initially quite noisy but settled down by the time we were trying to sleep and overall was pretty comfortable.
Unfortunately breakfast doesn't start until 9 on the weekend which was too late for us to have before the half which was disappointing. Would be nice to have an earlier option if possible even if it's just a continental option.
- edward (8/5): Alb hotel - Comfortable rooms a little dated but clean
and roomy
- Oakley (2/5): - I would not recommend anything about this accommodation
- Mark (10/5): - Fantastic quadruple room.staff really friendly.defo recommend
- Lorraine (10/5): - Friendly & warm welcome the staff were fab. Lovely room spotlessly clean & comfy beds. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. Great location for exploring Shrewsbury will definitely return.
- Verified traveler (6/5): / - For the cost this isn't good enough. Small room not the cleanest and broken radiator cover. Shower controls very stiff. No rubbish collected from the room during the two night stay. Breakfast just coffee, juice and a cooked option.
- T (6/5): - Check in was with bar staff. Front desk person not around. Breakfast was promised 0730-0930 but at 0745, the restaurant was still locked with a note telling late check ins to call a number. I couldn’t wait any longer to see if breakfast was indeed served as I had a train to catch. The train station is very convenient to this hotel.
- Gareth (10/5): Great Spot for a short Stop - Amazing place to staff and the manager was excellent, very helpful. Breakfast was superb.
- Dave (6/5): Ok stay - Staff amazing but twice I've stayed in the bottom floor room next to the beer garden and it's noisy in the evening and can hear the bar chucking glass in the bins.
Not to mention anyone in the beer garden can see into the room if curtains are not shut.
TV didn't work at all.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was comfortable and clean, the staff were very helpful and the breakfast was amazing. I really enjoyed my stay
- Sharon (10/5): The Alb - Great position in Central Shrewsbury, parking was across the road, Staff was amazing and the breakfast in the morning was lovely but the carpet had quite a few stains and there were lots of light bulbs that were not working, but apart from that i would stay there again.
- Jordan (10/5): - Staff friendly and helpful
Room was a good price
- Denise (6/5): - Good:Close to train station. Large room. Not so good:Roll down blinds broken. No soap or shampoo in shower containers. Bed lumpy.
- Maggie (2/5): - A terrible place. Noisy, dirty, mould in the shower. We only stayed one night.
- Peter (10/5): - Very good stay, excellent location, breakfast was amazing and food very good and reasonably priced.
Nothing to complain about.
- Michael (6/5): - OK , helpful staff, but lacks parking
- Mark (4/5): - The property is right on the main road , the room was on ground floor level and people were walking past the window shouting , the road noise was excessive , The room was clean and tidy very basic . It reflected the price I paid as budget accommodation .
I just found it to be convenient as short notice for me to close to the centre of Shrewsbury .
I would not need to use it again , and would not
- Michael (8/5): - A short walk from the train station which we liked. The room was on the ground floor which was nice as we didn’t have to carry our luggage up several flights of stairs.
- Erica (10/5): - Comfortable room with fantastically friendly stall.
- Christine (10/5): - Room was on the ground floor which suited me. Very clean, Beautiful bathroom. Bedroom was a bit small with only one pouffe to sit on. Overall enjoyed our stay. Staff were very helpful. Would definitely stay there again
- G (2/5): Despicable - This was not good - I think the highlight was going out for a meal! - I wasn't told before hand that the pub and restaurant was closed - Also an old pair of stockings in the room - See pic - Not sure how you can charge me for this.
- DAVID (8/5): - Staff made it. All lovely and helpful
- Kerry (10/5): Friendly staff - Really nice comfortable rooms friendly staff great breakfast round stay there again
- Rachel (10/5): - Clean and tidy room,
Helped with my bags to my room
- Ronald (10/5): Wonderful Stay - My brother & I decided to stay a 2nd night in Shrewsbury at short notice having stayed in the Premier Inn 200 yards down the road on the Thursday night. Premier Inn wanted £133 for the Friday night stay. Found The Alb on hotels.com which was half the price with added bonus with breakfast included. It was a budget twin room which perfectly suited our needs. Room was lovely & really warm ( unlike Premier Inn where i slept fully clothed under the duvet as the room was so cold ). Loads of tea & coffee sachets for our use. Room also had a mini fridge which was a nice surprise. Room was nice & clean. I had a full english breakfast which was superb. I would definitely check this place 1st next time we visit Shrewsbury. I would recommend it based on my experience.
- W (10/5): Highly Recommended - Fantastic little hotel, perfect location and great food.
- Natalia (10/5): - We had a lovely stay ! We definitely return again!
- Jamie (10/5): - Lovely warm welcome from the staff and the room was spotless absolutely recommend!!
- John (8/5): - Friendly staff, warm and comfortable room. Tasty breakfast - service at breakfast was excellent.
- John (10/5): Yee - Delightful
- Bethany (10/5): - Overnight parking is easy in the multi story. Cute hotel, very friendly staff and wasnt too loud considering was right next to a busy road and a bar.
Would stay again
- Rebecca (8/5): - Brilliant stay, staff are great, food and drinks were great. Room itself was lovely, spacious and very clean
- LOUISA (10/5): Will definitely be back. - Room was compact but clean and nicely presented - great ground floor option for anyone with mobility issues. Lovely breakfast. Staff super friendly and helpful when there was an issue with our room.
- Angela (8/5): - Good stay. Food was excellent. Would recommend to anyone.
- Lillian (10/5): - The young woman behind the bar was great she made the best cocktails 🍹 lovely thank you.
- Angela (10/5): Lovely convenient location with lovely staff . - Really enjoyed stay here , our room was small but beds were comfortable. A lovely home cooked breakfast with a good choice .
Pizza was lovely too in the evening. Friendly helpful staff .
I particularly liked the fact that there was refillable soap and body wash in the bathroom instead of the wasteful miniature plastic bottles used in so many hotels .
Handy location for everything in Shrewsbury
Would happily stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent staff. Accommodation a bit tired but did the job.
- Graham (10/5): - Tom was the ultimate Host.
Great experience, and lovely little associated pub...
- Christian (10/5): - Great decently priced find in the heart of Shrewsbury, my room was modern, comfortable and very clean. The staff were very friendly and the freshly cooked breakfast was a nice bonus. I'll happily stay here again.
- Glenda (4/5): - Very small bedroom just about got a double bed in and that was it.small window but could not leave open to noisy out side no air con or fan television in another room parking a fair walk way.
- James (10/5): - Lovely accommodation. Great location to get into town and just across the road from the train station. We had breakfast too which was very good. Would recommend.
- Ann (10/5): - Good location very clean and comfortable staff very helpful and friendly
- Martin (10/5): - I liked that towels were provided despite Expedia stating they weren't. Very reasonably priced.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - stayed over the Shrewsbury festival weekend - to old for camping these days :-) the ALB was conveniently placed. More importantly the staff were great along with great food and beer. :-)whats not to like
- Pauline (8/5): - Pleasant stay although was a bit noisy at times but that comes from being in such a great location. Breakfast was fantastic and Paul was very attentive. Would stay again.
- Hannah (10/5): A great choice - The team at the Alb were amazing, over and above. Took our bags early, gave us some tips for dinner, amazing breakfast... and actually we ended our night in the Alb with a drink and a game if cards and it was great vibes
Room was perfect, spacious and well thought. Great value, would def return
- Becky (10/5): - Lovely little place to stay. Great customer service. Sone really nice touches, like ear plugs.
- Jennifer (6/5): Disappointing not as advertised - Booked a room advertised with a king sized bed only to find when we arrived that they only have double beds. Daily housekeeping was also stated but our room was untouched for the duration of our stay. Breakfast was included in the package but the service was extremely slow and the food when it arrived although tasty wasn’t as advertised and most of the items were barely luke warm or cold. The rooms are nice and very clean but overall we were disappointed with our stay.
- MATTHEW (4/5): If you like hotels, don't stay here. - Limited characters on here so here are the basics:
FIRST ROOM:
· Dirty marks/splashes across the back of the main door and walls – I imagine from worker’s boots, or possibly a hot drink had been split and splashed
· Light brown fingerprints and marks across all the walls and along the edge of the desk
· Old water in the kettle and dirty brown marks all over the kettle
· A broken radiator cover
· One working lamp (out of the two attached to the bed head)
· Dust, grime and marks across the sink and back of the toilet
· Skid marks in and down the toilet, also small hairs on the toilet
· Only half a loo roll, no new or spares
· Dust and hair on the bedside tables
SECOND ROOM:
· Marks on the walls, again most likely workers/builders
· Streaks and Polyfilla marks down the walls in the bathroom
· Hair on the wall in the shower and a hair bobble hooked on top of the shower screen
· Mud or mascara, (brown mark) on yellow scatter cushion
· Dust and bits on mini shelf under toilet roll holder
· Motion sensor light in hall by the only mirror in the room constantly goes off as you’re stood getting ready
· Shower constantly hot and cold when top dial pointing to left to the 2 red lines
· Blind pulley too high to reach (& I’m tall!)
· Window doesn't stay open on it's own
· Marks and scrapes across all walls and doors
- Layla (10/5): Excellent - Lovely room, felt more like an apartment with plenty of space. Our room had a separate area with a sofa and TV. The shower room was seperate too, which was a perfect size and very clean. The whole room was very clean. Cosy too. Lots of tea and coffee.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. Very tasty and filling. Would definitely recommend stopping at The Alb
- Charlotte (10/5): :) - Was Excellent! Room was lovely! Staff were friendly! Would definitely stay again!
- THOMAS (10/5): Impressive - I can recommend this hotel for great customer service, nice rooms with good amenities including tea/coffee/biscuits, a good secure keycard entry system, continental buffet breakfast included in the price, a great riverside location and overall impressive value for money when compared with a dull, overpriced stay in a commerical hotel chain such as Premier Inn.
However, I would have appreciated some advice on parking in the area and also would have been nice to have some heating options in the room as it was quite cold (December) and the radiator wasn't working. The cleanliness was only 3/5 as there were some hairs around and a few small pieces of litter in the drawers.
Shrewsbury is a nice place well worth visiting.
- Andrew (10/5): Excellent food - Warm cosy room, decent bathroom, attentive staff, excellent food.
- Dave (10/5): Perfect for short stay - Room was like a mini apartment without a kitchen perfect for short stay.
Although i think it needs a deep clean it was still clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Thin walls - Basically a hostel setting with a bit more privacy.
- laura (10/5): Perfect little weekend stay - Enjoyed our stay. Room was very cute and had everything you would need. Little noise as it was in the main road. There was a grid right outside our room that conked with every car but didn't keep us awake.
Very comfortable and clean. Staff were very friendly.
- Katie (8/5): - Was brilliant so clean and modern great stay would recommend and get offers in bar next door
