But why on earth Germany still doesn’t use aircons even at 5* hotels???? It was 28 degrees, so the sleep isn’ pleasant at all.

The cook, and lady in charge of breakfast went above and beyond to provide me with food for my sick dog. Outstanding! Our room did face the front of the hotel, and they did have a loud party the first night, and of course like most hotels in Germany there was no AC, but despite that we had a great time, would definitely stay here again.

- Quentin (6/5): - Von außen ein wunderschönes Hotel, man findet die Rezeption sehr leicht und das Personal war freundlich und klappte alles reibungslos. Das Zimmer war ein bisschen versteckt, aber nicht schwer zu finden. Der erste Eindruck: Wow, es ist groß! Couch war ich im Hotel nicht gewohnt und die Säule am Eingang hat mir gefallen, es wirkte edel, bis auf das Bad. Das Licht flackert beim Einschalten, die Dusche ist schimmelig, ein absolutes No-Go für eine so schrecklich teure Nacht und ich suchte erst einmal vergeblich eine Notiz zum W-Lan, aber da war ich wohl selbst zu blöd, um zu verstehen, dass man sich einfach über den Laptop/das Handy einwählen konnte, ganz ohne irgendein Passwort, etc. Das Bett war ebenfalls erstaunlich hart, die Couch auch, alles in allem schön anzusehen, aber nicht zwingend hygienisch und eher nicht komfortabel. Hätte für den saftigen Preis besseres erwartet.

- Bahman (6/5): - The property is in the middle of nowhere, it is too far away from any restaurant or any food establishments. Being next to a hospital is very crowded, cars coming and going. We had to call a few times to bring us towels for bath, they would come fix the bed but not repunishing the condemned.

Anden aften i det mørke rum - var ventetiden over en time på maden - det var det også i sommers da vi var der, og den samne tjener og samme undskyldning. Så næste gang, beder vi om et bord i det andet rum på forhånd.

- skideballehavegaard (8/5): Looks like something from a Wes Anderson movie, but is everything you need as a professional traveller - I arrived dead-tired after a long drive, and was greeted by very friendly staff - always a good beginning. The Spa area is very good, even by non-Scandinavian standards - always a good thing when/if you can find a Sauna with actual Sauna temperature. The rooms are - eehrm, 90s Germany, but at least something else than all the Best Westerns and Scandics. Apart from the beautyful scenery in which the Waldhaus is situated, the restaurant (and bar) is a reason, why you'd want to spend your night here instead of Hamburg, where you might pay 3 times the price for this quality of eating - and bartending. Nothing beats a good bartender. Another star in their book, as every professional traveller will agree with - the breakfast is very good indeed! Scrambled eggs made from actual eggs is rare these days. And the soft-boiled eggs (I always have both when I can) are soft-boiled. All in all - I can only recommend the Waldhaus in the highest possible tones. Macht weiter so!

- Benjamin (10/5): Ein abgeschiedenes Refugium - Große, gemütliche Zimmer, Wellnessbereich klein, aber fein, Perfekter Service der bei allen Sonderwünschen extrem hilfreichen Rezeption vom Check in bis zum Check out, Nur war die Gastronomie mit der Veranstaltung, bei der wir zu Gast waren, leider etwas überfordert.

Gästeservice im Restaurant von enttäuschend bis außerordentlich zuvorkommend - ein Glückspiel, denn sehr abhängig vom anwesenden Personal. Die Hotelbar ist offenbar eine Raucherlounge - die Türen zu den Hotelfluren blieben aber offen. Der Rauchgeruch lag auch noch am nächsten Morgen in der Luft- sehr unangenehm für jeden Nichtraucher! Insgesamt alles im Charme vergangener Jahrzehnte, teilweise renovierungsbedürftig. Entsprach insgesamt nicht unserer Erwartung an fünf Sternen.

Fliegenschutzgitter am Fenster eingerissen. Handtücher mit z. T. starken Gebrauchsspuren ( ausgefranst). Die Dame beim Check in war sehr unfreundlich; das übrige Personal allerdings sehr zuvorkommend.

- 884vikis (2/5): A disappointment - After many years of celebrating at the Waldhaus Reinbek we scheduled another family event there as it has been our go to for thirty years. The service continues to be excellent however the meal was dreadful. Even the noodles were half done, the tofu bland s dull, the meat varied greatly even on the same meal. After playing close to 400 Euros I vow not to go back. Very sad to have experienced this.

- Jallina21 (4/5): Disappointed - Maybe we were unlucky, but the following is a NO GO for a 5-star hotel: - unfriendly staff at reception desk, borderline rude - hotel smells with cigarets smoke, and we got a smoking room (nobody asked if it is OK for us) - the only bar in the hotel is a smoking bar, so no chance for non-smokers to have a drink there - dry martini was served in a water glass with ice cubes and lemon... - in the suite there were 2 single beds out together with a big gap between them (it was out wedding night, so imagine the disappointment) - no drinking water in the SPA area - no shampoo and conditioner in the room. This all would be OK for a 3 -4 star hotel, but I find it unacceptable for 5 stars.

- Birgitta (10/5): Trevligt hotell med lugnt läge - Sov över här en natt när vi var på väg från Hamburg till Sverige. Åt god middag på kvällen ute på terrassen till ackompanjemang av fågelkvitter. Hotellet ligger nästan i skogen vilket ger det en superfin inramning. Rummet vi fick var rymligt, ljust och trevligt med tre fönster, men så hade vi också uppgraderat oss till en extrakostnad. Rent och prydligt, tyst och lugnt. Fin frukost.

- 772jesperb (10/5): A truly amazing and charming hotel - Years ago we used to come here with our children and let me state from the beginning, that this hotel is as charming as it used to be. It is located in a small forest in Reinbek, but away from the hustle and bustle. You can take a nice walk in the forest, which takes you through some beautiful old houses. We had a junior suite this time. Clean and tidy. The staff is very friendly and service minded. We had dinner in the restaurant as well as breakfast. The food and wine list is adequate. For dinner I had half a duck a la Christmas style and my wife a blue carp fish, however, the fist was less tasty as it appeared from the menu. For our next Christmasmarket event in Lübeck we will most certainly stay here again.

Our last night was Monday and there was only one guy working in the dining room. There was no refill when things were over, and we had to wait too long for service
- EbbeLLund (10/5): Quality as always - Always great to be back at Waldhouse. Great service when arriving, rooms big and nice, fully equiped. The spa offers all that you need. The team in the reasturant makes the day perfect. Interesting to see who have shared room with you.
- Verified traveler (6/5): One time visot - A five star rating but no Air conditioning! For the room temperature the situation was simply disasterous. The restaurant was full both nights and totally understaffed. 2 hours for a quick dinner. So many other good hotels in the region.
- World_Explorations (8/5): Traditional German Hotel with the good and the bad - Recently stayed in the Waldhaus hotel for some business in the area. The hotel is a traditional German Hotel in a traditional design. Checkin: Check in was quite straight forward without any issues. They still have the traditional hotel keys with a heavy metal key chain. It would be nice to see them move to a card system. Rooms: The rooms are spacious and well furnished. The bathroom was quite well maintained and spacious. There is a desk area that includes a radio, USB charge points and a mini bar. A nice touch is that all the non-alcoholic beverages are free of charge and replenished daily. The bed is your typical German style which means a low mattress and a nordic style duvet. But having said that, it is quite comfortable. A few negative things is that in the summer the rooms get quite warm and there is no air conditioning nor room fans. Opening the windows does not help much to cool things down. Ceiling fan in the room in lieu of AC would be a very good upgrade. As I mentioned before that they had the old fashioned keys for the rooms, when you close your room door it does not lock unless you manually do it. It is very easy to forget to lock it when you are inside the room. Also there are no Irons in the rooms and only provide ironing service through house keeping. Restaurant: This is where there hotel shines. The food in the restaurant is great. Fantastic quality, friendly service and most importantly delicious. Definitely the top restaurant in the reguon Location: The hotel is about 30 -45 minutes from Hamburg in the town of Reinbek. There is nothing special in the town itself. The hotel is in the edge of a forest. Unfortunately as I was there on business I did not have a chance to go Hiking but I can imagine it mus be quite nice. I would definitely stay there again if in the area and not in the middle of summer
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is more a 3 or 4 stars than a 5 stars. It might be due to lower service quality in low season period. The rooms are clean, but design, furniture and equipment are very basic. I was in particular disappointed by the fact I couldn't use the Spa (Sauna) that only opens at 12pm and hotel reception not allowing a late checkout unless I pay extra 75 Euros.
- 169-skl (8/5): Solid quality and friendly service - Priced in the upper segment with a basic but solid cuisine. I had cold Roastbeef with fried potatoes and a homemade remoulade. Good choice, red roots and a fresh salad aside, good portion and high quality. Friendly and proper service, old fashioned but cosy interior . It was worth it.
- jeremyhO5401RZ (8/5): Comfortable stay - Spent a weekend visiting friends and used hotel as our base. Had a larger comfort room which was an excellent size. Had our dog with us and he could join us in the bar and restaurant which is much easier for us Good hotel
- 606gretap (8/5): Not so so special - We have visited Waldhaus to celebrate a birthday. The location from outside is really nice and well maintained, inside It's a mix from the '70s on. Main dishes are really good and normal high price but in the average fpr thos kind of location. What has surprised me in a negative way is the price of the desserts. If a plate of meat cost round about 25 euro, how can a slice of cheesecake cost 11Euro? I Think I'll not go there again. The restaurant is noisy and They pretend to be poshy.. high level on my eyes is something different.
