Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel if you don't want to spend lots! - Some nice touches in the hotel (coffee machine with biscuits & social areas) Good breakfast but limited seating area. Good size room, very comfy bed! Some bathrooms would benefit from some upgrade. Location wise, not too much of a walk into the centre and parking was on the street.
Randall (8/5): - We were not aware that the hotel had shared bathing facilities. We had trouble getting in because we couldn't find the email with the instructions among all the other emails that had piled up during our travels.

Sue (8/5): - I loved the industrial vibe of this property. It was about a 25-30min walk in to the centre of Reykjavik which was an easy walk but I should have looked in to closer locations. The room had a slightly funny smell but was very quiet and comfortable. And the reception was very responsive when I asked for a hairdryer - they had staff drop one off within 30mins

Rich (6/5): Just okay. - During our stay, we found the accommodations to be uninspiring. The breakfast was lacking, and we were surprised to find that the room we booked did not have its own bathroom as we had thought. The check-in process was confusing, and the property itself was dark and dreary. Additionally, the free parking was extremely limited with only a few available slots in front of the hotel. Many of the parking spots around the property belong to other businesses, so it's important to be cautious. While the place wasn't terrible, it wasn't our favorite among the places we've stayed at in Iceland.

Colleen (10/5): - I have to say I was a little skeptical at first based on some of the negative reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised by & pleased with the Brim Hotel! The check-in process was seamless with all the details provided to us via email. Our room was very spacious & comfortable—not to mention the high quality Solely organic shampoo, conditioner, & shower gel that I LOVED! The complimentary tea & coffee machine on the second floor was a very nice amenity, & we loved the breakfast! The croissants were the best I’ve had in a very long time! Additionally, the virtual concierge was extremely accommodating & granted us a late check out of 1pm for FREE! I challenge anyone to find all of these features at a remotely comparable price in Reykjavik! Thank you for a high quality stay at an affordable price!

Mark (2/5): - I did not stay here because of poor communication by Expedia and the hotel, but i was still charged for the visit. If Expedia is going to make it a point to tell customers not to give out any credit card info nor use any other portal for payment other than Expedia, then they need to take responsibility for when a hotel tries to get its customers to do just that. Hotel sent me a message saying they couldnt charge my card and i needed to pay through a weblink they provided and if i didnt do that within 24hrs the booking would be canceled. I refused to use the weblink but was unable to cancel this booking. The hotel never responded to my replies and Expedia was unable to assist, insisting that the reservation was non refundable. I have screen shots of the message from the hotel. Totally unacceptable.

Mystik (6/5): - Quaint hotel, you have to wait for a code to enter the main door and a code to a lockbox to get the room key there is no hotel staff, rooms are basic but the bed was super comfy there’s no tv in the room which is odd for a hotel but I guess I wouldn’t understand anything if there was one lol.. there’s a lovely coffee bar on the 2nd floor with teas and cookies the 3rd floor had a chess table and the 1st had endless books ro read.the breakfast was perfect a mix of juices breads eggs pancakes crepes and cheeses and the best part was free parking. Overall a little pricy for what you get but it’s Iceland everything is expensive.
Kaitlyn (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at the Brim Hotel! The rooms were spacious and clean! After a long trip around the ring road for 10 days we enjoyed our last two nights at the Brim Hotel! Very relaxing! Within walking distance from everything you can think of!
Parag (2/5): - First off, this property is not really a hotel. It is more like a HOSTEL with shared kitchen, shared toilets, and shared shower stalls. There is NOBODY available on-site if you had a housekeeping related question or situation, if you needed any concierge service, if the toilet was stinking and needed housekeeping attention, if you had an issue with your assigned room, if the bulb was out, if the coffee machine wasn't working, etc. All you have is a number to call, which noone ever picks up. Only a ghost sends a text message and you’re at the mercy of how efficiently a text msg resolves your need. The place is OLD and DARK... see the pictures online. It makes the place feel gloomy. DO NOT STAY HERE.
Jedediah (6/5): Clubbing Hostel More than Hotel - Brim Hotel is one of those no reception things common in Iceland, but the lockbox is shared across multiple floors of rooms, which doesn’t seem like a great system since someone could take your key by mistake. Worse, it’s one of the shared bathroom dorm style lodgings. That’s sort of okay if it’s clear on the listing and the bathrooms are clean, but one was not and the other wouldn’t flush. The rooms need a good de-smoking of the fabrics, I needed to leave open the window to try and air out as my wife has asthma. I appreciate the attempt to make common spaces filled with art and all, but think the units need some updating to bring them up to the standard the pictures and listing imply. The bunk beds were also pretty wobbly up top. This all would have been fine for a lower priced stay directed to college students on holiday, just not for any families. If you are considering this place, know it’s more of a clubbing hostel than a hotel and choose whether your stay is priced appropriately from that context.
Jonathan (4/5): - Was not aware we didn’t have our own bathroom/shower, and that facilities were communal. Room was both hard to make dark during midnight sun, and noisy through the night as others used the floor bathrooms that neighboured our unit.
Dieter (6/5): Average Stay - I had been emailing the hotel through Hotels app and direct some days before to ask about early check in, no reply. On arrival the door code I got sent did not work, I had to call and the code had changed, the room was very small, and shared bathrooms were cold with no heating. Breakfast was poor, and some items were already gone and not replenished.

It is a 12/15 minute walk down to centre which is convenient for able bodied people..it is warm and comfortable. Good selection of teas but no black breakfast tea available ..Good body lotion/ shampoos /conditioner etc Staff and cleaning staff work hard. They cleaned my room well. Management need to spend money to improve facility. The building badly need refurbishment/investment- fresh paint, replace damaged paintings.. damaged couch...buy new bath towels.. stained carpet needs shampoo..

Paul (2/5): - It was very difficult to find a parking while it’s mentioned there’s a parking available. I couldn’t stay more than 5 minutes in the room because the entire furniture, bed, pillows and curtains were smelling smoke and cigarettes. When I contacted the management, they weren’t able to offer me another room and they suggested I reach out to Expedia for a refund. Expedia confirmed that the property management rejected the refund request.

The reception staff are off-site but the cleaning and catering staff were extremely helpful (e.g., we didn't receive an email in advance with check-in instructions, but everyone was very supportive and sorted it out quickly). The rooms and breakfasts are fine.

David (8/5): - Finding the location is a little bit tricky but when you do find it, there’s not enough parking but if you find a spot it’s really clean really nice. They have free cookies, free coffee. The kitchen is actually pretty awesome. I was really surprise it’s still a work in progress as they’re constantly working on it but it’s a really nice place. But something I would like to recommend to the company is every room should have a refrigerator and the showers could be a little bit larger. I’m 6’1 and it’s tight but other than that pressure and temperature amazing. A lot of people rate this is a one star please I give it a good three star and breakfast is pretty good as well. definitely stay again.

Verified traveler (6/5): - I would say this is much more of a hostel than a hotel- a very good hostel at that though, but I am more used to hotels personally. Long days on trips, the last thing I wanted to do was come back to sharing the bathroom and waiting for the toilet to be free (my own fault, I booked the room with the shared bathroom, but I was presuming this would be more like a guesthouse). The first couple of days, there was a school/college type group staying and the walls were quite thin, groups of teenagers out the front chatting, leaving the shower room unkempt (although they were very polite), which was a little annoying, but once they had gone, it was a little more relaxing. The rooms are too simple for me- a bed, a drawer and a sink, nowhere to hang clothes or really relax in the space (if you are travelling as a group, this would be OK as there are communal spaces). All staff were great, except a slight dig- I made an error in reading my pick-up time for the airport (the bus was at 4:30, not the pick up time), and one of the hotel's staff came and knocked, which I appreciated and got moving as quickly as possible, she came up one last time approx. 5 mins later as I was vacating my room, telling me that I had to hurry up, people were waiting on the bus, etc. I totally appreciate that I was late and this is my responsibility, however I am an adult and felt terrible enough that I was late, I did not need to be lectured by the receptionist about this...but this was the only time.
Paul (10/5): Good location for the price - Good hotel to use when transitting from the airport via public transport. A kilometre or so from centre of town, but close enough to walk. Appreciated the free coffee and tea. The kitchen was a good size and well-equipped.

Anonymous (6/5): - The hotel was centrally located. It was an easy walk to downtown Reykjavik. Since we used the Brim Hotel as our home base, it was also easy to travel to various destinations north, south, and east. Now for the bad.... We had issues with the maid service. Two out of the eight days of our stay, our room was not cleaned. When we complained, we were given various excuses. Several times we had to request clean towels and toilet paper. We also ran out of soap. The staff was very nonchalant about these missteps and never truly addressed these issues.

Ola (6/5): - This place is in a good location, they provide free coffee and tea at all times, which is really nice. The staff is also very friendly. The bad news, the facility itself is not great. Although the water throughout Iceland tends to smell a little more mineral-y than usual, the water here smelled like sulfur. I stayed at other places in Reykjavik that did not have this same problem. I was also right behind the reception, the door was falling off the door frame, and the hallway and room itself was kinda run down. Not great. It was a fine place to stay, but don't expect fantastic accommodations.
Verified traveler (2/5): - When I stay at a hotel, I expect at the bare minimum to be able to sleep. Unfortunately, this was not possible at Brim Hotel. Around 6 in the morning, I was awoken by the sound of someone fumbling with the door lock. An hour later, a horrible banging noise started and never stopped. Sleep was impossible. I decided I might as well take a shower. The temperature was inconsistent and the overall experience messy. Then I thought I could at least use the hotel’s WiFi. I was wrong again. It was shoddy at best. I would not recommend anyone stay at this property.

Verified traveler (10/5): - Okay. First of all let’s state that this is a kind of no—frills place. It is NOT a fancy hotel so let’s not judge it as such. The entire place is clean. The staff is pleasant and friendly (case in point - we arrived WAY before checkin and without even being asked the staff offered to keep our luggage for us) and knowledagble about the area. The rooms were plain but nice and extremely clean. We had a bathroom in ours and one of my only criticisms of Brim hotel had to do with the fact that the bathroom was NOT ventilated and got grossly steamy after a shower. (The water was really hot w great water pressure though.). There is a well-equipped kitchen on the second floor and it was very handy for breakfasts and a few meals we stayed in to cook. As everyone knows, Reykjavík is expensive (although tbh we are from nyc and the prices were on a par) and of someone is on a budget the opportunity to cook in is awesome. The grocery store is literally down the street. There was free coffee from a lovely espresso/coffee maker in the lobby and this was a blessing. Hot milk and everything! Although the hotel is somewhat out of the city center it is not too far. We had rented a car and had no real trouble finding parking anywhere we went. All in all a wonderful experience. Thanks again to the great staff.

Jennifer (8/5): Great budget hotel - Great little budget hotel. We had a room with an en-suite & it was kept very clean & refreshed daily whilst we were out exploring reykjavik. No tv in the room which was a down point in the evenings when not out in the local nightlife however the bed was very comfortable & clean. Breakfast was a normal continental & easily obtained through signing a register in the morning & helping yourselves (could pay at the end of your stay or after eating daily). Only thing that could have been better was the water from the shower smelled causing the room to smell so we had to open windows occasionally. Very good location, 10 min walk from town centre & great location for excursion & transfers pick up. Staff very polite & friendly as well as very helpful when asked about local area etc.
Malina (10/5): - I recently stayed at the Brim Hotel from March 8-14th and absolutely loved it. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean, modern and cozy. I was so pleased to know that they had a full functioning kitchen which made it so easy to save money on eating out. There is a supermarket 5-10 minutes walking distance from Brim which made it a breeze to cook. The location is 10-15 minutes walking distance from city centre. I hope to visit Reykjavik again and will definitely stay at Brim Hotel. Highly recommended.
Monica (8/5): - Really nice hotel. Located on a quiet street, about 20 minutes from both downtown and Reykjavik Bus Terminal BSI. My only complaint is that the shower water smells like sewer water and the valve in my toilet was broken, so it would flush for an hour.

Verified traveler (6/5): - Was a very nice hotel, 20 minute walk from city centre lovely staff, but if you’re not used to the Icelandic water. Think twice! We stayed in one of the normal double bed rooms, and after we turned on the shower the whole room had stunk of Sewage. Made a complaint downstairs and got a room upgrade to a room with a less smelling shower. Very good WiFi. Needs a lift in the hotel. Very comfortable beds. Very tidy nice looking rooms. Staff always helpful. Very clean community kitchen. You also get free tea and coffee which is a bonus.

Hunter (10/5): - It was the most reasonably priced hotel out of the one's I researched. We stayed 5 days and was pretty close to local markets and downtown. One of our nights, the pipe was leaking a tiny bit and they moved us. They were very helpful and made up for the convenience. Parking was easy to find and the breakfast was reasonable. I would stay here again.

Joanne (6/5): Okay stay for one evening - My cousin landed in fairly early from her flight. Luckily enough, I told the team at Brim Hotel that she was going to come in early, and they upgraded our room to a family room and checked in her right when she got there around 7:30 AM in the morning. Service was extremely great at the Brim Hotel - everybody was very helpful and greeted us when we walked in. However, some issues: The washrooms weren't the cleanest, which was kind of annoying to me. Furthermore, the water had strong smell of sulfur (not sure if this is a common thing in Reykjavik). Also, we were on the top floor, and there are no elevators. It's fine for my cousin and I, but not sure if that would be great for older people like my mom who has issues with her leg. Lastly, one of the biggest issues was the fact that there is a shared bathroom down the hallway from us and we could hear everybody walk in and out in the middle of the night. Even our bathroom door was EXTREMELY loud when we had to close it.
