- mistytrip (10/5): Splendid hotel lives up to its name - This hotel was in an excellent location, right near the old town, and a stones throw from the beautiful lake. The staff were so helpful and spoke excellent English, which was great as none of us spoke great French. The rooms were really clean, spacious and the pillows were fantastic, would have loved to have brought two and transported them home, if only I had space in my suitcase.

- PaulF109 (10/5): Superb Hotel by lake and very close to historic part of city. - Superb hotel right on the lake and a few minutes from the historic part of Annecy. Very welcoming staff on arrival and lovely room (102) first floor over looking canal/lake at the front and having a balcony over the entrance area (sunny in the morning) Comfortable large bed, small sofa and table with 2 chairs. Soft drinks and snacks included in the mini bar. Very nice bathroom with large shower area with overhead rain shower and separate hand shower as well. We did not eat in the hotel choosing to find an excellent restaurant for the evening and breakfast in the morning, all minutes away. We booked through TA on Booking.com and got an excellent deal probably 30% + from the direct hotel price. We are just outside of the peak though. Parking was in the spiral underground car park only a few minutes walk away. Parking was just over €10 for just under 24 hours which I thought was good value anyway, but the hotel gave a voucher that brought it down to €5! Brilliant value in a secure car park so close. Highly recommended

- SGonzalez123 (8/5): A good hotel - This is a pleasant hotel that is well located for the Lake the Old Town and transport links. Coffee at breakfast (as in most hotels) is not good. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Due to the vast choice of places to eat locally there is no restaurant in the hotel and it lacks atmosphere.
- U2025RJkeithw (8/5): - We stayed here mid-July. The hotel is a short 10 minute walk from the mainline station and the bus station. This makes it great for us as we like to travel by train and use local transport. The Hotel has a view of the Lake and is very close to the old town. The room was good but a little on the dark side. Bed was fine. It was large, had a separate bathroom/toilet. The room was very clean and well kept. The breakfast was buffet and ok but not as good as other hotels. All the staff from the reception staff to the breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful. I would fully recommend this hotel for a holiday in Annecy.

We stayed there for 2 nights, the first night was on the first floor and extremely tiny (I believe it was room 109, I attached a couple of pictures). The next day they moved us up to a better room and a wider one, we were pleased!

- Mailt (4/5): Avoid this overpriced hotel – two star at Best not the four star they claim - The sign at the street claims that they are four star. Maybe a decade or two ago but it is not now. Rough around the edges. Slippery bathtub/shower – be careful of trying to take a shower standing up. Toilet seat cover would not stay up. Toilet itself had rings of gray cracks inside. Hot water was iffy. What it did run it took a long time to get to the sink or the tub. No amenities whatsoever – not even face towels. I added a night and they did not give me the advertised rate that I got for the first three nights – they charge me full rack rate! Parking pass did not work and they only give parking credit for Knight which is for euros but it did not do the credit at the parking garage. I would avoid this place because it needs some serious work in order to become more than two star.
- Katherine (10/5): - Great room! FYI we paid for the lake view, but discovered it's pretty much hidden by giant trees in the park between the hotel and lake. It didn't end up being a big issue as the view of the park and mountains was still lovely. Location was perfect. Gym was very, very small.
- rsf-brit (8/5): Good location - Although some reviewers complained because they couldn’t see the lake from their rooms, we didn’t have such an expectation when we booked the hotel. The “lakeside” position of our room looked over the park positioned between the hotel and the lake, and it was only a couple of minutes walk to the banks of the lake! It was also only a 5 minute walk to Annecy’s old town and lots of restaurants. The rooms were large and comfortable. The hotel doesn’t have its own parking. But the underground parking at the old Hotel de Ville is just across the street, and the parking cost is subsidized by the hotel. Our big negative was the breakfast, which we had prepaid. We were at the hotel for 3 nights. On the first morning, we arrived for breakfast 30 minutes before they were supposed to stop serving, only to find no croissants, no baguettes, and very little fruit. We complained to the waitress and she said she had put more croissants in the oven and they would be ready in 20 minutes. The second day we again arrived 30 minutes before end of service and, again, no croissants and no baguettes. I complained to the waitress who just shrugged. This time I complained to the front desk. Five minutes later, we saw that the waitress had been sent out to buy an armful of baguettes from a local bakery. On the third day, there were croissants and baguettes! I think a 4-star hotel should be capable of buying sufficient baguettes each day without complaints from customers.
- ianw959 (6/5): Mixed Feelings - I find it difficult to share the unqualified enthusiasm of many recent reviewers of Le Splendid. in My view, our supposedly deluxe room only qualified as such because of the outside seating area. Otherwise, there was nothing deluxe about it in terms of either furnishings or space. Positioned on the first floor looking towards the lake, it felt at times like being at Donnington Park, such was the noise of traffic and, in particular, motor bikes. On a more positive note, the room was spotless, the bed comfortable and the location couldn't be better as a starting point for walks round the lake and the town. Staff, both on reception and at breakfast, were pleasant and very helpful.
- ruthlJ5257RN (10/5): Splendid, not just in name - To start with we were greeted by a cheerful Clara and later Jacques. Two delightfully helpful staff. Our room was very comfortable with a king bed and space to spare in the room. The bathroom was modern and clean. The decor of the room was charming and yes I took a photo. Jacques was very forthcoming in giving pointers on what to see around Annecy and also where to eat.

The staff is very kind and helpful, the location is right in the middle of everything but still peaceful, and the rooms are comfortable and thoughtfully decorated. The breakfast was perfection, and the bar is perfect for a nightcap. Highly recommend!!

- 978amandag (8/5): Fantastic location and great breakfast - Well- positioned hotel, opposite the lake and about 10 minutes walk from train and bus stations. Well-maintained, with good and unobtrusive service. We had a room on the 5th floor, with a terrace overlooking the lake. The only observations that should be mentioned, is that there is no air-conditioning, so during the summer, it must be unbearable. It was warm enough in early April and we kept the door open. Limited storage space, we kept belongings on terrace due to this factor. However, great breakfast choices, including hot dishes. Location is everything with this hotel.

The location of the hotel near the lake and a few steps from the old town was perfect. The staff is welcoming and helpful- ask and you will receive. Excellent service. Being on the corner there is some traffic noise but it is very manageable. We did not have breakfast or use the work-out facilities but the hotel is so well run I can not imagine there will be a problem. Recommend this hotel and would stay again.

From the description we thought it was by the lake but can see it from the balcony. Very clean. Good staff and a fair breakfast. Tad overpriced but guess it was the weekend.

- Voyage728227 (10/5): Don’t stay anywhere else or you’ll miss the true beauty of Annecy. - This is easily the best hotel in Annecy. The first impression you get is the stunning lake across the street. The second impression was also lovely because when I walked through the door Raé greeted me with a wonderful welcoming smile and was extraordinarily cordial and friendly. Something that means a lot to me. I got a room with a spectacular view of the lake and stunning mountains. The hotel is perfectly located. It’s quiet yet it’s right next to everything you want. The amenities are extraordinary as well. I ended up feeling a bit sick from traveling and stayed an extra day. I was surprised that housekeeping was extra empathetic kind and accommodating. The amenities are great as well, everything you could want, Gym, Sauna on the 1st floor. Kettle and nespresso machine (with extra pods) in the room, even a hidden cooler in the drawer. I will never stay anywhere else and I will never recommend anyone stay anywhere else.

- David (10/5): - Parking was in adjacent town operated parking lot. Hotel covers overnight parking fee. You are responsible for parking costs during the day if you leave your vehicle in the parking lot during the day say if you spent the day walking in town. Not clear before hand!

- travelmypassion (8/5): A Lake View room that is a Tree View room - We paid extra for a Lake View room and ended up with a tree view room (see photo). I asked the front desk woman and she said the room is a lakeside view. This is very misleading because my hotel confirmation clearly states the room is a lake view room . The room was decent with a patio but housekeeping never changed the sheets and left dirty towels in the bathroom. The best part of the hotel is the location. It’s a short walk to Old Town Annecy and the lake. The 22 euros breakfast was basic with some fruits, bread, and cheeses. However, the server was always friendly and she helped make the breakfast more enjoyable. If you want a hotel with a great location then this hotel will work but your lake view will not be Splendid !

- WanderingDad (8/5): Excellent location, nicely maintained - The hotel is situated in an excellent location. It faces the park with the Jardins de Europe and the lake, which is a short walk away. The rooms are spacious and well-maintained. The facilities appeared to be very clean. The staff was friendly. The only issue is that they do not have enough people working at the front desk during the busy summer season so there is often a wait. Other than that, this hotel is an excellent choice, especially if you wish to be able to walk to most of the sites in Annecy.

- Sansunseeker (10/5): Very Splendid Indeed! - We are here on a short city trip with our 14yr old daughter. The hotel is extremely central and opposite the lake which is a bonus, everything from shops, cafes and bars are within reach easily and within minutes. We arrived from Geneva on a blabla bus and the hotel is only a short walk from bus/train station. Upon arrival the staff are smiling and welcoming. The room was nice (sofa bed for 14 yr old was very comfy). Small fridge for items like water and beer we bought from a supermarket across the corner. Bathroom Grohe shower was lovely and clean with plenty of hot water. The rooms have hair dryers, shampoo and body was abs irons on request for those like us who flew with hand luggage only. There is a bar too which is nice for a drink before you head out into the centre! We booked a boat trip on the lake (petrol boat 70 euros for an hour) and it was the highlight of our trip, since the weather was hot we went out at 10am as the lake wasn’t overcrowded and there was a nice cool breeze (they do ask for ID so do take something with ur pic on it eg drivers licence or passport). There are also options of pedal boats etc but we wanted to save our legs and go far out onto the lake for a swim! Annecy if absolutely beautiful and your stay here at the Splendid will only add to that experience it was a lovely hotel.

The only inconvenience we had was that the ac was not turned on because it wasn’t cool enough outside. However, our window was very sunny and the room warmed up considerably during the day and took quite a while to cool down. We generally leave early and go back to the room for a few hours before having a late dinner. It was uncomfortable.

When I was there, the lobby was under renovation, and the staff handled it beautifully. My room was very recently renovated. The bed was very comfortable. And the bathroom was a generous size for Europe. My room had everything I could possibly need including a great view. I will definitely be back.

The rooms are comfortable, and clean. The breakfast buffet was very good. The hotel is being renovated, but it is not disruptive. The front could be redone, as well as the elevator! It is a memory of old time ( probably the 70s)

- Ronald (10/5): - Beautiful modern hotel in the heart of old town Annecy. The staff were also very helpful and friendly. There’s no on-site parking but the public parking across the street is convenient and relatively inexpensive.
- Ebbert (4/5): - We got stuck in the elevator. It took an hour to get us out. Workers began jackhammering at 8:15. The staff didn’t even give us new paper cups in bathroom or new towels in 3 nights. The heat and air made dripping noises which the staff tried to fix but it didn’t work. Breakfast was great. The front desk staff was wonderful too. When we were stuck in the elevator the man on duty was very reassuring.
- Charles (10/5): - A wonderful hotel across from the downtown park and Lac d'Annecy. Conveniently located to the tourist office and excellent restaurants and shops. Our room was clean and specious with a very comfortable bed, and the staff were friendly and most helpful. Would definitely stay again and recommend most highly!
