Guest Reviews
- Gordon (8/5): - We were in the riverside lodge and although the lodge was lovely it lacked privacy as the hot tub and decking area was fully visible to people walking past from the nearby bridge, passersby could see right in to the accommodation. The lodge probably wasn’t worth the total amount of money we spent but it is a beautiful setting. The lodges are marketed as luxury, but we wouldn’t class the ‘level’ of luxury as commensurate to the price - the breakfast was pleasant but basic and the shower/toilet room was extremely cramped, once you have a shower the floor is soaked for the next 10 hours so your feet get wet every time you need to use the toilet. Added to this, it’s hard to feel it is good value for money when check-in is 4pm and check-out is 10am, with a charge for late checkout. The hot tub was excellent and the bed was extremely comfortable.
- Daren (10/5): - .
- C (10/5): - This was the perfect location after hiking Ben Nevis. Sitting in that hot tub to soak was perfect. We had the BEST breakfast the next morning delivered to our suite. We stayed in the Riverbeds. It was so beautiful. Such a relaxing and romantic spot. Our little lodge had everything! Snacks, drinks, espresso. Just what we needed when we were exhausted. Lorna was lovely at check in and check out.
- jonathan (10/5): - Everything
- Laura (10/5): - Beautiful, tranquil and romantic <3 will be coming back again
- Ian (10/5): - Loved the hot tubs with privacy and location
- Paul (4/5): - The jacuzzi is great, with wonderful green views and water sounds. The accommodation itself is rather cramped, like a space pod. Either you find that cozy or unpleasant. What really ruined the whole thing is the attitude of the service staff (or, possibly, the staff following rather odious rules set by the management). The check out time is 11:00 (and check in at 16:00 - apparently it takes at least 5 hours to clean some pods) and there is a hefty fee for late check-out. The lady said it was 150pounds (a fee I could not find anywhere stated online and Expedia says it’s 12pounds) but that she would graciously only charge 50pounds. To my chagrin, I paid it to avoid fuss. You get the idea - it’s a nice, rather cramped accommodation run by officious and possibly tricky people. So it’s up to you.
- Fiona (10/5): - Amazing for the size, had everything we needed, amazing service and so clean!
- HAyleigh (10/5): Fabulous - Fantastic stay at riverbeds, couldn’t say enough! Well set out, felt like your own private spot. Clean facilities felt brand new. Lovely breakfast hand delivered to your pod. Was such a great stay would definitely book again.
- Brandie (10/5): - We had a wonderful one night stay. The hot tub was just what we needed after days of hiking and site seeing!! The pod was cozy and the food provided plentiful. The staff was also very friendly. But the patio was the star of the show. The views of the mountains and river were beautiful.
I only wish the large bed window overlooked it too. The pod is situated so the large picture window faces away from the river (still a good view but less secluded/picturesque). But this was minor and did not deminish anything about our stay here!
Very cozy in size but very comfy too.
- Andrea (8/5): Unique Experience--but be prepared to leave early! - A truly unique experience in one of the most beautiful settings I have ever been. The only complaint is that check-out is at 10:00, which, given check-in is at 16:00, and considering most other hotels usual check-out time of 11:00 or 12:00, seems a little early.
- Jessica (8/5): - Pod way exceeded my expectations! Fantastic stay. Only notes would be I arrived late and while I had instructions it was incredibly dark and took me awhile to figure out where to go. Also every time I locked or unlocked my car an alarm went off in a nearby building, the guilt of someone having to get up to turn it off was not pleasant. Finally better WiFi would be fantastic. But these are minor things. The room was great, hot tub was great, breakfast was above and beyond! Will definitely recommend.
- Connie (10/5): - What a unique place! The tiny house that I shared with my daughter was clean and modern. The hot tub was a nice hot welcome after a busy day.
- Sarah (10/5): - Fantastic! Matched description on website, and was clean, private and relaxing.
The sound of the river was tranquil and having your own hot tub to relax in each evening was such a treat. The breakfast basket was a lovely touch and filled with the most amazing overnight oats (amongst other tasty pastries)
- Nathanael (10/5): - Small and functional. Nice setting. Friendly staff.
- Michael (10/5): - This is a beautiful property and the units a very spacious for small huts. Everything is very well thought out and the use of space has been handled very well.
- Garry (6/5): Beware Cabins 1-4 (see picture) - Cabins are new, wee and gorgeous. However, be very careful which cabin location you get. There are cabins in the forest, under the trees and over hanging the river (as per the website description and photos) and then there are the latest additions, being cabins (#1-4). We unfortunately ended up in Cabin #4, which was out in the open, adjacent to the golf course, we couldn’t see the river and next to a transmission line. We felt so mislead and ripped off that we immediately complained and asked to be moved into what was promised on the website (a cabin in the forest overhanging the river). Couldn’t be moved as they were fully booked (but saw we got bumped out of Cabin #10 earlier by someone who knew better). We were first offered a bottle of Prosecco (declined), then a special deal for another day (declined, as we are holidaying from Australia), and then later after our stay we were contacted to say that our cabin location was better than the others! Compare our cabin photos to the website and make up your own mind.
All in all, if you get a cabin in the forest that over hangs the river - then enjoy the experience and have a great time. In our opinion, just ensure you don’t get the new Cabins #1-4.
- Annemichelle (10/5): A Must. - Amazing !!! Perfect romantic getaway and attention to detail was fabulous .
- Cindy (10/5): - Had a really good stay,Staff were very friendly
- Charaine (10/5): - Small cosy pods which had everything we required. Very clean and well maintained in a lovely setting
My only grumble was the cost which I found a little pricy for the size of the pod when I could have got a lodge for the same cost elsewhere , however our stay was lovely and would visit again if costs were reduced
- Jon (8/5): - Friendly staff, pods are great - but very expensive, especially considering the very basic combined shower/toilet cubicle. Basic pods around Scotland are £100, these are serviced better & have the hot tubs but are not worth 4 times more
- Clare (6/5): Overpriced - To be honest I’m not sure how this place can charge what they do.. yes the experience is ‘unique’ but it is far from a luxury hotel which is the price you pay. I have stayed in larger budget Ibis hotel rooms, it is so small that you can barely fit any bags inside, you have to shower over the toilet and hope that water doesn’t get everywhere which of course is easily done and the floor in the main area ends up filthy. The breakfast that is included for over £300 a night is miserable… at least have fresh pastries, not store bought soggy ones and a tiny pot of yoghurt. Your room isn’t even freshened up unless you specifically request it, seriously?! You don’t pay enough to at least have a bed made and toiletries topped up? No soap, only body wash.
The stream is nice whilst you’re outside enjoying the view but at night is SO loud you can’t sleep. The jacuzzi is awesome. In sum, more than one night is too much as it’s not comfortable (including bed and pillows) and you get cabin fever and it really is just so over priced.
- Kimberly (10/5): - The pods and settings were absolutely beautiful. Very relaxing and they thought of everything that would take your mind off of busy travels.
- Samuel (10/5): - Amazing place to properly switch off and relax in beautiful surroundings. Very clever use of space, lots of unique, creative and thoughtful touches that just added to our experience. We will definitely be back 😀
- Justine (8/5): - Amazing tiny little cabin. River running right by. Hot tub on deck. Living quarters are tight, would probably not stay for an extended time. But they make great use of the space. Everything worked. Oy negative was the bugs - made using the deck and hot tub less than relaxing. Staff was great. If traveling during bug free season it would be perfect.
- Kelsey (10/5): - Gorgeous location! Each lodge felt private, it was so nice to hear the river from your porch area. Hot tub was awesome. And the lodges were cute and wee, but with lots of storage. Free continental breakfast delivered to your door was a nice touch, as was the welcome email with restaurant recommendations and telling us to make a reservation ahead of time. Would recommend and stay again!!
- Phillip (10/5): - Amazing find!
- Sophie (10/5): - We had an incredibly luxurious and relaxing stay at Woodlands Glencoe, they haven’t scrimped on anything, we felt totally spoiled! Only thing that let it down was the blinds on the door letting light through as soon as it became day light, if they could have this resolved, absolutely no complaints at all and would definitely go back.
- Alexander (10/5): - Lovely, quiet retreat
- Vincent (10/5): - Facilities and environment could not fault
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing - Absolutely amazing, very clean, lovely welcome snacks, homemade cookies. Loved the breakfast basket that was delivered. Hot tub was amazing, very friendly staff, would definitely recommend!!
- Fahri onur (10/5): - Lovely place
- Molly (8/5): Romantic NYE Getaway - Loved this hotel for a peaceful getaway to disconnect! The shower situation was the only negative part of our review- very small and over the toilet. Loved the hot tub, fire, and privacy. Recommend booking lodges 1-4 where we stayed as they are more private even if they are further from the lodge. Wish the lodge and other activities had been open but given the holiday and Covid we understood.
- Caroline (10/5): - Our stay was amazing and exactly what we needed at Christmas time. The room was cozy and so was the hot tub, the breakfast basket was a nice touch and the option to add extras was also lovely!
- Verified traveler (10/5): AMAZING - Great time we had wish we stayed longer!!! They have everything for a nice relaxing getaway, pods are amazing, fire pit, right above the river and a hot tub to top things off!!! Can buy prosecco/champagne also for hot tub. Great stay. Free breakfasts included which was lovely.
- Mark (10/5): Amazing - It was absolutely amazing, it's worth a every penny and would highly recommend. I will be back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our stay was absolutely amazing, the pods weren’t too small and the hot tub made it so much better. The staff were phenomenal and really went out of their way to help us during our stay here.
- Alicia (10/5): - All of the staff we encountered were so friendly and welcoming.
- STUART (10/5): Perfect stay - Arrived around 1930 and staff was very polite and friendly, went to our cabin and found it very clean ,tidy and modern. Welcome basket was a nice touch. Everything you needed in the cabin was supplied. Hot tub was very nice, clean and hot was very enjoyable and also had good privacy from other cabins, was lovely sitting in there listening to nature and the small river a few meters away. We only stayed 1 night but looking into booking again for a longer period
- Allan (8/5): Nice but expensive - Incredibly expensive but a nice out of the normal luxury. Breakfast was lovely.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the hot tub
Path could be lit up more but did provide a torch
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The cost for what you receive very poor and to many midges
- Su (10/5): - Amazing staff and service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Absolutely beautiful property, the owners have thought of everything and more. The pod was so unique and having our own private hot tub just outside the door made this experience absolutely outstanding. There was nothing we didn’t like about staying in RiverBeds. The most amazing place we have stayed and we look forward to coming back again.
- Lisamarie (10/5): Cute and Cozy - Upon arrival, we were greeted with amazing hospitality by the staff. The surrounding area was beautiful and an easy walk to find places for dinner. The lodge was cozy and comfortable. Having access to our own hot tub was a huge plus and great way to end the day!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I came up to Glencoe to take photographs of the area and my pod (as it became known) became as bigger part of the experience as the dramatic and imposing landscape. I was out before sunrise and usually stay at B&Bs or hotels. The problem with that is you have to be back for breakfast, the time of which is not always convenient, especially if you have climbed a mountain. It worked really well having breakfast delivered to my pod in a lovely wicker basket which was outside my door when I eventually arrived back. Inside there was everything I needed. The shower was perfect, the hot tub welcome and the coffee machine kept me going. Loved the little touches like the pots of porridge that I made before I went out. There are also muesli packets, milk, orange juice and fudge in the room to have before the main breakfast was delivered.
This really is a fantastic idea, if I come back avoid will definitely be staying here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A fabulous, cosy room with quirky charm. We especially loved the spa by the rushing water of the creek. It was properly romantic.
- Kenneth (10/5): Would go again! Relaxing break away. - The lodge, jacuzzi and surround area was beautiful and really relaxing. Nice and private on a flowing stream for added tranquillity. Receiving a good and supply hamper on a daily basis was a lovely touch. Staff were very helpful and friendly. They leave you to enjoy your stay.
- Dale (10/5): Hidden gem! - This felt like a hidden gem. It felt secluded in the woods, the hot tub was amazing, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone.
- Chris (10/5): Great break away - Amazing. Will definitely return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Location location - Ideal place for a few nights, the view over the river is just breathtaking and the hot tub makes it very romantic.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hot tub! Had everything we needed and more. Super relaxing and secluded.
- Whitney (10/5): - This place is seriously straight out of a fairytale! I wish we could have stayed forever.
- Miki (6/5): - Nice experience, location not exactly wild (u are basically between a small river and a golf court), lodge are really cool but asking 500 usd for it is really really too much. Probably half of that price would still be a bit over priced...
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful stay - The wee lodges are very clean and well stocked. We really enjoyed our stay. Very relaxing and gorgeous surroundings.
- Jay (10/5): Great - absolutely recommandable hotelyou have plan to visit glencoe.
The room is small, but clean and convenient.
I will stay again when I come back glencoe someday
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The cabins are in an excellent location just 10 minutes from the 3 Sisters and close to Glen Coe. The first problem is that the cabins are not listed anywhere on the street. There is no signage. The cabins are part of a gulf course called "Tigers .....". Once you find the properties, you have to drag your luggage across a stone and pebbled driveway. If you have luggage that is not an easy task. The cabin itself is tiny. Not small. Tiny. I cannot believe we were chaged Manhattan prices for a trailer. That's the most accurate description. It was trailer sized cabins. It is so small that you have a choice whether to have a table or your beds. You cannot have both at the same time. We arrived with the beds made and there were instructions how to disassemble the bed in order to assemble the table. We, a couple in their 60's, would have to take a queen sized mattress and somehow fold it and lift it above the ledge at the top of the cabinets in the kitche, That didn't happen so we ate oin our beds. The shower is in the bathroom. There is no separate shower. The dirty water simply goes down a drain in the floor. The rest of the cabin was lovely. There was a frig and mcrowave. The coffee machine made delicious coffee. The midges (little mosquitoes) were all over the place probably due to the girgling stream nearby; however, the dead midges hadn't been removed from the window when the cabin (trailer) was cleaned so we had troulbe knowing which were alive and which were not
- Caro (10/5): Super cute cabin - Really delightful little cabin with lots of lovely touches. Location very picturesque and easy to find. Self check in was a breeze and although the cabin is close to the car park it felt like you were in the middle of the woods. We will definitely be back but will have a hot tub next time! Highly reccomend.
- Josephine (10/5): - Amazing! Really enjoyed this, super comfy and cosy. Loved it
- v (10/5): Great stay! - This was an amazing little pod; really comfortable, really well set up. The shower was hot with great water pressure, and the Bluetooth stereo worked perfectly. We had a little deck overhanging the river and the hot tub was clean. They leave a breakfast for you to make yourself (porridge, croissants, tea/coffee, fruit, fudge, juice, yogurt) — there was more food than we could eat! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Absolutely Amazing - Had a lovely relaxing time
Hope to return very soon
- Leona (10/5): Definitely Recommend - Great little lodge - very warm and cosy! Good use of space within the lodge with the wet room and shower. The bed was very comfortable and all in all very relaxing being next to the river with added bonus of the hot tub. Definitely would return.
- Roseanne (10/5): This place was AMAZING! - This place was AMAZING! We opted for a lodge with a hot tub, and I highly recommend this. We stayed in February, and the hot tub made for a fun, warm place to gather outdoors, though the heated floors in the wee lodge made being inside super cozy as well. The beds were large, luxuriant and so so comfy. For being in such a tiny space, it felt rather spacious inside! I wanted to spend some time on at the table on the back deck overlooking the gurgling river that ran RIGHT below us, but it was a bit cold for it. We'll be back when it's warmer for sure!
The only (and I mean ONLY) negative was that the wifi was a bit spotty for us in the actual wee lodge. It was, however, nice and strong in the cafe/lounge area which was only a few steps away and heated by a nice fire. Love love LOVE this place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fab - Very special place. Highly recommended.
- Sarah (10/5): Wonderfull Woodland Stay - Lovely little cabin backing on to the river with scenic views and modern, clean facilities. Cosy, warm and comfortable. Great staff and service, pleasant stay that I would highly recommend. Loved everything about it.
- steven (10/5): - Lovely wee lodge well worth it. Good location
- Lucy (8/5): Didn't want to leave, longer please! - The little pod was very nearly perfect! It was extremely clean and comfortable. It had everything we could want and more with the lovely touch of a bottle of bubbly waiting for us and breakfast in the fridge. The only downside is that with a check in not being until 4pm and check out being rather early at 10am it felt like we just didn't have long enough there and we would have loved a little longer like a check in at 2pm or check out at 12pm the next day to allow for a bit of a lie in, especially for the price. We would highly recommend and would love to go back.
- Sydney (8/5): Luxury Camping - I loved the wee lodge. It has everything you could need and the setting was beautiful. Close to Glen Coe and Oban with many other places to explore nearby.
- Dot (10/5): Fantastic - Didn't want to give the key back! Just beyond my expectations. Booked this for my partners birthday, he was delighted, couldn't stop looking at the lovely rippling stream. I requested a private wee cabin, and that's just what I got... Couldn't ask for more. Jacuzzi was perfect, and we had a great time!!!! ... Staff wonderful, and very accommodating, I can't fault Dragon's Den.. And will return. Very happy memories we won't forget.... If you want something romantic and out of this world, choose A Wee Cabin, and thank the Dragon,!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very pleasant stay in a great location. Just wished that the you could get hot food before 10am would be my only complaint.
- Aiman (10/5): Amazing accommodation and setting - Could not speak highly enough about the experience. Pods were fantastic set within the small river and mountains. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay from start to finish. The hot tubs are a nice touch as well.
- Mary Rose (10/5): Living in the forest - A lovely relaxing overnight stay. Seemed like i was living in a forest with the river under our feet...... at one with nature. Hot tub put the cherry on the top. Had a second breakfast in the clubhouse before we left, poached egg atop black pudding. The best black pudding with no srimping. The wee lodge was perfectly clean too. Would enjoy a wee break there yearly at different seasons for the experience.
- Jody (10/5): Very cute camper cabins. - Perfectly cozy. Great location. We loved the hot tub after a long day of hiking. Very well done! Excellent instructions on everything in the room.
- emma (10/5): Amazing Birthday Experience - Booked for my partners birthday as he likes outdoors and I like luxury...this was the perfect balance! The pods have everything and more you'd ever need, they even supplied us with cake and prosecco as it was my boyfriends birthday! Out lodge had a hot tub which we were in for HOURS, it was just a dream. We both have busy city lives so this was a proper escape with gorgeous surroundings. We tried to BBQ but it didn't work, I would highly recommend the loch leven hotel for dinner it was delicious and had spectacular views!
- Mary (10/5): Wonderful spot for a holiday - The staff were absolutely awesome at the Riverbanks Lodge. We didn't have a car and needed transportation in town and then to the bus. The hotel manager James Young went above and beyond to make sure that we were able to get into town for dinner and then a ride to the bus in the morning. He was terrific. The location is beautiful and very close to the prettiest section of the bike path.
