- Elodie (10/5): Une parenthèse de bien être - Tout à été absolument parfait lors de notre séjour de deux nuits dans cet hôtel, le personnel est aux petits soins, accueil chaleureux et pro, notre appartement (pour 4) était très bien équipé et propre, au calme et les lits confortables. Le spa est un vrai plus. Et enfin le village de Montsoreau et ses environs sont plein de charme, de belles balades en partant à pied de l’hôtel. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir.

The gursthouse was spacious but at an odour which was difficult to address.

- Manuel (9/5): Excellent stay in a wonderful hotel in one of France’s most beautiful towns. - Loved the location right opposite the beautiful Loire river. Such a welcome greeting and hospitalityfrom Carole and Eric, the proprietors and also from their reception staff. We had the apartment which was well appointed and very comfortable. The private car park opposite the hotel was very convenient. Enjoyed the wine tasting but should have booked the Spa earlier to avoid disappointment. Lots to see and do in the area so would recommend a couple of night’s stay. Faultless and will return with more time on our hands

Spa was heel aangenaam (sauna, hamman, klein binnenzwembad en groot buitenbad). Heel vriendelijk personeel dat goede tips had over omgeving. Ontbijt niet geprobeerd. Rustgevend.

- JASMINE (9/5): Hotel très calme et agréable en bord de Loire dans un joli village prés de Saumur - Hotel très agréable et bon accueil du personnel. Excellent petit déjeuner, grand choix et trés copieux. En plus de l'accés au bassin intérieur, sauna et hammam du spa, la petite piscine extérieur et son jardin sont un réel plus en été. Dommage que la fenêtre de toit de la chambre que nous occupions n'ait pas la possibilité d'occulter la lumière matinale.

Lekker tips gekregen om te dineren vlakbij. Ik had problemen met een ticket te boeken en ze heeft het voor mij gedaan. Er was ook een plaats om onze fietsen veilig te stallen De kamers aan de achterkant waren muisstil... heerlijk om te ontwaken met de kerktoren Ik had graag wat seizoensfruit gehad bij het ontbijt...maar dat is echt om iets negatief te moeten schrijven

La piscine est très jolie et bien installée avec des transats, dans un jardin très joli entre les maisons de Montsoreau. Bien qu'on soit en juillet et qu'il y ait d'autres hôtes, on n'a pas l'impression de se déranger.

Staff were friendly, spa was really well appointed and treatments were both very good and reasonably priced. Its location right on the river and in the heart of a tiny but bustling little village is idyllic. Room was spacious, comfortable bed, all the necessary accessories. Highly recommended

Very overpriced. This is pleasant provincial accommodation, but it is not luxurious or boutique. Breakfast was 20 euros extra, there was no daily cleaning, no welcome pack and arrangements for bike hire were not straightforward (no bikes available at the premises).

Gardens were lovely and swimming pool was a real bonus arriving on a hot day. Dinner was very good value and our hosts were so helpful. Will definitely come again

Ça commence dès l entrée avec un accueil tout en couleur et en sourire . Une décoration touffue mais où chaque objet a sa place et se fond dans un décor de bohème chic . Chambre magnifique vue sur la Loire . Tout le confort pour rendre le séjour unique . Le soir nous avons fait appel au room service pour le dîner avec un vrai repas chaud très bien servi et pleines de saveur . Le spa est magnifique pour un bon moment de quiétude et de sérénité . Ensuite un bon verre de vin autour de la piscine pour continuer la journée parfaite . Tout se fait dans la simplicité dans une ambiance familiale et où le client se sent unique . J écris rarement des avis mais la total coup de cœur qui mérite de prendre un peu de son temps . Félicitation à toute l équipe . Corinne

- Trevor (2/5): A very over priced hotel in a good location. - The location. The access to the first floor suites is via a steep staircase. The mezzanine bedroom ( within the suite) is accessed via another dangerous staircase. The rather dated bathroom has a shower over the bath which again is difficult to use. The suite itself is very tired and in need of updating. The accommodation is unsuitable for older guests.

Attention to the property maintainence was poor...front of drawers nearly falling off, kitchen cupboard doors not shutting properly...toilet flush not working, light bulb not replaced...bare cement floor in our apartment living room was uncomfortable /sandy even for our dog...interestingly hamman & sauna did not work for the 5 nights we stayed...pool had algae and seemed to be cleaned intermittently despite there was a pool robot. We liked the place and made the best of our holiday but it's a real shame it's not been looked after properly.

- Esther (9/5): Lovely river side hotel. Exceeded our expectations - The hotel is really nice, in the middle of a village overlooking the Loire river. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return! Breakfast wasn’t included and perhaps a bit overpriced at 20euro. Especially as we are not big breakfast eaters and only have something small.
- Joe (1/5): Abysmal. They hadn’t even noticed we checked out 2 days early due to poor service and there was no one at the desk/a - The memories we had of visiting last year encouraged us to return. However, we were very disheartened to realise the service and facilities had plummeted - especially considering we returned as part of our honeymoon. The spa condition was not nice and no staff in sight generally - we weren’t even properly checked in! Well to start with, we checked in late and received an email with instructions along with a note at reception once we arrived as the desk wasn’t manned past 9pm. All okay, until the following morning when we asked if possible to pay for a room upgrade (there was a suite available) considering it was our honeymoon, but the only staff member on site - Victor- couldn’t even be bothered to turn around and get up out of his seat to converse with us. It took him over a day to get back to us about said upgrade and initially we were told we would have to pay the difference (an additional €36 per night), and then the next morning when we were due to move rooms we were told to pay the entire amount of the new room (€270 per night. A total of €810) instead of the difference. Very confusing, and we were told no there was no one else to speak to about this and we were left with a blank and very disinterested look from him. No customer service skills whatsoever and the issue wasn’t a language barrier. It is unfortunate that last year when we visited this was a genuinely great boutique hotel, but now in 2024 has been left to rot under abysmal customer service. A shining example that people really do make a business and putting the wrong ones in charge can make it suffer greatly .

- Kerry (10/5): - We (family of 2 adults, 2 teenagers) had a fantastic stay overall at La Marine. The hotel and apartments are beautifully decorated with sublime taste and quirky features. The pool is perfect to cool down after a hot day's sight-seeing, although it can get very busy if everyone is there at the same time. We'd booked for 5 nights and had to change apartments (from Cyclades) due to a low-pitch machine noise from the next-door bakery (that only I could hear so no else was affected!) but Caroline, the owner, went above and beyond to resolve issues and was kindness personified. We stayed 2 nights in no.3 (view over the river - perfect - although some might not like being by the road but you cannot hear a sound if you shut the double-glazed windows so it did not bother us) and 2 nights in Belle Etoile (duplex with 2 loos!). It was fun to try out these 3 apartments, each with their own style. They are all immaculately clean, have well-provisioned kitchenettes and beautiful bathrooms. No air-con but the fans were fine even in this heat. I would say the single beds for our teenagers were not as comfortable as they are used to but, for younger (lighter) children, it would not be an issue. The pool area and gardens are a delight and you can use the hotel facilities (breakfast costs extra but it's worth it to eat in there) and order drinks from the staff who will deliver wherever you are in the hotel! The staff are complete professionals, always smiling and helpful. Thank you!

- Laura (8/5): Lovely boutique spa hotel next to the Loire - We had a lovely two night stay whilst in the Loire Valley on our way south to the Dordogne. The hotel has ample parking and is beautifully decorated, with a cute little boutique shop next door. The staff were very charming, friendly and helpful, which really made the stay very pleasant. They were quick to deal with any requests and spoke excellent English. The hotel has a really good spa, which includes an indoor and outdoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and Hammam as well as all the usual treatments and massages on offer. We had a couples massage and facial during our stay and spent the afternoon by the pool, so can highly recommend the spa - much needed relaxation after a few days on the road and visiting Châteaus. Breakfast is a simple affair, with the expected range of French breads, meats, cheeses, eggs and cereal - good fresh quality and plenty to fill up on. The room was a good size, with a nice garden view, comfy bed, generous bathroom and great air con. The only downside was the number of random steps between areas in the room, which we both managed to trip on numerous times! You’ll also need to carry luggage up the stairs to the room, so one to be prepared for - is not far and worth it for the character of the hotel. We would definitely stay here again as the hotel and staff are great and Montsoreau itself is a lovely town in a great location on the Loire!
