Guest Reviews
- Harold (10/5): - We really didnt use a lot of them but what we did use were great. Thank you
- Tosha (10/5): Beautiful views - The hotel front desk was wonderful. They gave us bottled waters, lei's, juice & ice cream vouchers. Great location walking distance to beach, shops, food. Free Friday night fireworks that we watched from our room. Beautiful calm lagoon behind the hotel. Great for families with small children to swim with no waves. Airport & cruise ports are just a short uber drive away. Rooms are clean but dated they could use a face life. Regardless i would still stay here again.
- Michelle (10/5): - Friendly service from start to finish. Valet very help with luggage, parking and even made a run to our car for us when we forgot something. Front desk very prompt and informative. Rooms were clean and we had a WONDERFUL view of the marina and up the coast line. We loved having direct Waikiki beach access as well and it's right next to Hilton Hawaiian Village so you get to watch their Friday night fireworks at Ilikai prices :) .
My only wish is that you didn't have to go to the front desk for ice or that the refrigerators in the room had actual ice makers. LOVE that the only thing we have to do to get new, clean beach towels is swing by the desk on our way out the door. Very convenient and we don't have to wait for anyone to bring them to us. Also love the "bathers elevator" on the other side by the gift shop so there's not water dripping everywhere on the tile when people come in from the pool or beach. OH and don't skip the ice cream shop... it's FANTASTIC!!!!!
- Nathan (8/5): - Location is closed to

- David (10/5): - Our first hotel in Hawaii. Amazed by the history of this building that almost started the cache of Waikiki. A favorite hotel of Elvis. The hotel Jack Lord stood on in tye opening credits of the original Hawaii 5-0.
Lovely studio room with very workable kitchen.
- Grace (10/5): Roomy, nice place to spend a few days - Roomy w a kitchen, good place to stay.
- ANNAM (10/5): - Central location. Lots of amenities. Very good for this price point.
- John (4/5): - Took 20 minutes to get an elevator every norning, no wifi provided. Bathroom was moldy. Was right above the noisy pool
- James (10/5): - Nice
- Mark (8/5): - Room was very outdated compared to the online pictures, however the room was clean and staff were great!
- Dmytro (10/5): - Nice place
- Shane K. (10/5): No local lile pay 150 deposit - The check in guy super rude to locals. Didnt care for him at all. CHESTER. OTHER than him staff is great.
- Lisa (6/5): So so stay - We stayed here last December and it was wonderful. This time not so much. They didn’t have the deposit my reservation said they did. The gentleman that checked us in wasn’t so friendly. He didn’t explain anything about how to connect to Wi-Fi. Each unit is different so it wasn’t the same as last December. Overall not as good of an experience as it was the first time.
- James (8/5): - Hi, it was a nice property with fabulous views. The pools were clean and heated. The staff was friendly. There was a problem with the elevators,
- David (8/5): - Very nice! Kim at the front desk was very helpful! Check-in was quick and easy. LOTS of amenities!
- dan (6/5): - The rooms need to be updated
- Susan (10/5): - Great little staycation for us! Mahalo!!
- Carol (8/5): - Beautiful
- Donna (8/5): - Location Location!!
- Theresa (10/5): Aloha from Friendswood - Location of the property is very convenient. The room was clean and comfy. There was not a lot of pots and pans if you plan to do major cooking during your vacation. It was good enough for us to cook breakfast. Need toaster though as we didn’t want to waste electricity to bake one or two pieces of bread or bagel. Otherwise we were very happy with our stay.
- Jose (8/5): Great location and amazing views - Great location and amazing views. Got three different rooms with ocean view and were very satisfied with each one. Rooms are a bit run down (ripped curtains, some stains on sofas, and bed could be a bit more comfortable). But overall good experience.
- Scott (8/5): - The room was great. Better than what I expected. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable nor the pillows that were provided. The staff was great. Great location. Parking could be tricky.
- CAROL (6/5): - Dave's ice cream great. kitchen great. shower great.bell hops excellent.
building old and in ill repair. many holes in carpet. Many broken floor tiles.
Security almost non-existent. front desk often only manned by one person. Valet pking great.
- Daniel (8/5): - We spent 9 days in Honolulu over new year - a very enjoyable stay at Illikai. Nice room with ocean view - very pleased with the room.
- Sukit (10/5): - Really great place to stay. So convenient to get to many other places.
- Takako (10/5): - I loved the view from my room.
- Tasha (10/5): OCEAN FRONT VIEWS - We love the Ilikai because of the incredible beachfront views. Floor to ceiling, wall to wall windows make the price worth it. Valet parking was quick and very convenient and the hotel had East beach access. If staying one or two nights the Ilikai lite will do, multiple nights I would book Ilikai luxury suites as those are more comfortable.
- Phuong Thao (10/5): - Everything was great! No room service due to covid however just a call and they will deliver whatever we need and also pickup trash. No complaints
- Linda (10/5): - Beautiful beach views, friendly staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I arrived one day late to the hotel & staff told me they had already cancelled my reservation & gave my room to accommodate a new guest due to me not showing up. I explained to them that I had complication arriving due to the airport. After about 15 minutes I was told I would have an upgraded room. I really love the view of the suite
- Verified traveler (4/5): - House keeping comes around 3-4pm.
The pool was closed for the entire stay.
- Frances (10/5): Done with Waikiki - I understand they were just taking precautions because of the virus but they did close their pool and restaurant three days before anybody else it was kind of an inconvenience it’s the first time I’ve rented directly from the Llikia the condo was definitely in original condition compared to others I have stated It’s unfortunate through the years that Waikiki has changed so much the original heritage of the island is nowhere to be found in the Waikiki district
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Old building but for the most part well maintained. The staff were extremely helpful & went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The property is also within walking distance to downtown Waikiki. The only complaint was having to request maid service on the second day of our stay but that request was quickly met.
- Wei (10/5): Highly recommended - Highly recommend to small family and couple! It has fully kitchen. Easy to assess shopping area and sea.
- Jen (10/5): - Bigger rooms than average, large balcony, full kitchens, nicely remodeled rooms, free dvd rentals & PS3 in rooms, and pull out sleeper sofa. This is a much better idea for families than a basic hotel room. The building has an on-site restaurant, ice cream place, coffee place, a small convenience store and a clothing store. There is a basic pool for guests as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location was perfect and the staff provided excellent customer service!
- Cathy (8/5): - Great location
- Baker (10/5): - Great location! Walking distance to many restaurants, parks, shopping centers. One of the major pick-up spots if you’re going on any tour. The only thing we didn’t like was they had a major maintenance one night during our stay and shut off water from 10:00 PM - 2:00 AM. We had to cut our night short, rush back to shower and brush. Could’ve been better if they shut it down at the later time like after midnight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Staycation - Overall, not so bad. We weren’t in the room too long because we were out and about
- Christine (10/5): Great service. - It was good. They gave us a upgrade cause our first room was not what I had purchased. Great service
- rebecca (10/5): Last minute stay - Pro: Overall a good stay for 2 nights. The room was very spacious and we were upgraded to a partial ocean view. The Ilikai is big and has both hotel rooms and timeshares. Ice cream shop and small lobby stores are not bad for a quick look. Hotel= 5 stars
Con: Their hotel driveway for valet was always busy. Too many tourists crossing when one is turning right from the main road. I forgot how much valet was, about $30 I think.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Outdated decor . Totally need face lift entirely . Needs tubs ..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The view was excellent, did not like the pool, too small and too crowded
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location is excellent.Room size excellent
House keeping did bare minimum when servicing rooms
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything about this property is awesome ! From the front desk, valet and housekeeping. We loved our room, and couldn't ask for anything more.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the location right by Waikiki beach and lagoon. I also enjoyed the hula performance, Guava pancakes at the Cinnamon restaurant, fireworks, shops at the lobby. Rentals for surfboards and water sport gear in the lobby.
- Peter (6/5): - Husband has a terminal illness but is still somewhat mobil. The pool areas are uncomfortable. Not enough shade. Attendant was rude and seemed to save shade for some customers and not others. One pool had band aides floating in the pool. We were told lounge chairs could not be moved as much as 1 foot because of HOA rules. As a former HOA president of several properties that seemed a little too restrictive.
- Hm (6/5): - It is okay, nothing wonderful but her manager lacks of customer service skills. She is rude.
- Natalie (8/5): Nice and central - Good hotel, free shuttle service not so good and tracking the shuttle is a waste of time. No accurate timetable.
Honestly quicker to walk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved everything about it except that there was a prom or something like that going on with tons of teens running around. That wouldn't have bothered me except when I was working on my computer in the lobby I heard two drunk male teens say that they were just looking for a fight and were going to punch the next person that they saw in the face.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Instead of an ocean view I had a partial view which I should be compensated for because I paid for a room with an ocean view
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The view & location were excellent with all services at hand
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the view, spacy room and friendly staff. I did not like the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): would stay here again - The area was great - lively but not overly busy as is the Waikiki strip further down. The room was comfortable with a spacious kitchen. The only downer was that the carpets were being replaced on our floor almost the entire duration of our stay, but it wasn't too terrible.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked the room amenities. They were helpful for our trip.
- karen (8/5): Great location - The likai lite was was a nice. Hotel. Check in was frustrating as it took half an hour as their machine was not working. We did get upgraded . Friendly staff would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convenient to both of the senior and young family to long stay with kitchen available.
- wayne (10/5): Excellent - It was great. Couldn’t hear anything. Very nice hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): - For its price the location of the location of Ilikai is quite unique. Easy walking distance to both Ala Moana and the center of Waikiki.
- Chris (10/5): Nice hotel, with a 5 star experience - Awesome hotels. Right in the middle of the action. Next door to Hilton Hawaiian villiage. The Hilton lagoon is next door, which features a large swimming/relaxing area, that has fireworks in Friday evenings.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I enjoyed the junior suite and the convenience of having a full kitchen. Great location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is my 6th time at The Ilikai and I have never been disappointed. Can't fault it.
- Matthew (8/5): Waikiki in the beach - Great location and big rooms. It’s an older hotel but I would stay here again.
- Steve (8/5): - Nice location. Comfortable bed, view, kitchenette. Staff very pleasant
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Due to the strike housekeeping was very late.............not their fault
Love, love this Hotel
- Claire (8/5): 9 nights at the Ilikai Hotel - We had an enjoyable stay at the Ilikai Hotel for 9 nights. We were lucky to get a lovely room on the 25th floor, with a nice water view, balcony, and small kitchen. The rooms on the 22nd floor and upwards have been refurbished and I would highly recommend requesting these floors as we heard other rooms were sub standard. We used the ground floor pool every day and it was great - never too crowded. There is also another lounging pool on the 2nd floor. The location is walking distance to Ala Moana Shopping Mall, and 3 lovely uncrowded beaches. Also there are a lot of choices of good restaurants nearby.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Front desk was very rude bad customer service and the Roos were not as good as u see on the picture we had to upgrade for more price than we payed the was a hidden resort fee charge that’s no use for nothing even there dvd rental wasn’t working that was $ 25 charge each day and it says there is a free parking but that wasn’t true it was a $1 an hour or $28 a day for velvet parking the resort fee don’t even include that add all it was a bad experience for me
- David (8/5): Great stay for the price - The room was large and included a full kitchen. It was clean and comfortable. Only downside, which was admittedly slight, was the street noise.
- Owens (4/5): - Room 742 was not a nice room. The floor boards were all peeling through tour the entire room. the bathroom was very old Because the floor boards were all peeled away from the walls making it look outdated and not taken. Are of. The tub was painted over and it was peeling and had a constant drip.
- Renee (10/5): - Refrigerator & air conditioner were very loud as it was used throughout our stay
- Kenneth (8/5): Condo style hotel near Waikiki - Good choice for a quick business trip or a longer “vacation” trip... I like the location as well as the harbor view. Not “too” close to the Waikiki scene but close enough and they have a shuttle.
- Richard (10/5): Staying at this "classic" is a must. - Booked rooms for family members and myself for my mom's burial in Honolulu. We needed kitchenettes and the Ilikai was one of only 2 hotels in a decent price range close by for this short-noticed trip. Stayed here 45 years ago with my mom and dad so a bittersweet memory. Great staff, classic hotel and nice comfortable rooms. A great deal!!
- Brian (10/5): - We upgraded to the 22nd floor luxury ocean view suite and it was worth every penny. The rooms were nicely renovated and the view was amazing.
The hotel is an icon and may seem dated on the outside but I assure you that you are going to get at least double the value here. You’re getting better views than the neighboring Hilton for a third of the price. The lobby and ground level are beautiful with gardens and fountains.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. We even enjoyed the onsite shops and restaurants. The coffee and ice cream shops were nearly daily must haves on our trip.
Beds were a little stiff for my liking but by the time my head hit the pillows I was out until morning so I guess it didn’t really matter.
Overall, best hotel value on the Waikiki strip. Make sure you get a higher floor and stay on the ocean view side, not the sunset ocean view side if you want to see the Friday night fireworks. That was a great show to see right from our balcony. I will book here again as long as they don’t end up raising the rates too much.
- Cheryl (8/5): Value and a View - Fantastic location and price is one of the best values when you compare to other hotels on the beach. The upgraded room (luxury) was really nice but I chose to stay in a "lite" room for the view. View was awesome....room really, really needs updating but I'd take that view again over the upgrades.
- David (10/5): - The only problem was checking in; we had booked twin beds but "oh dear" when we got into the room late at night, just one bed!!
Otherwise all good thank you,
Kind regards,
David.
- sue (10/5): - Brilliant view beachside. Great renovation and location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - awesome staff - The only problem was the elevators. Based on the volume of guests - we waited for more than 5 minutes to get on an elevator
- G. (8/5): Friendly staff and good location. - Upon checking into the hotel met with professionalism and warmth of the staff.
There is some contradiction on the website which states two different Illikai Hotels, but they are the same hotel just different room levels. The Illikai Lite Hotel states ocean view, but there are no oceans views because the rooms are low floors so don’t be mislead. We upgraded the room to have a better view!
No real issue with the stay at the hotel and would stay again.
- Greg (8/5): Good deal in great location - Really great location on edge of Waikiki so easy in and out access. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bed very comfortable, room a bit musty if left closed with AC, not good for their electric bill but you could have lanai door open and AC, this was great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not as good as the Waikiki Marina Resort rooms - We stayed one week in the Waikiki Marina Resort and one week in the Ilikai Lite. these are rooms in the same building (Ilikai Tower). The Waikiki Marina Resort rooms were nicer, newer furnishings and much better bed. It was also almost half the price. I will say that the staff at the front desk of the Ilikai Lite were very nice and accommodating (but then again so were those at the Waikiki Marina Resort).
- Barbara (10/5): Waikiki condo - This is an older hotel which is in good condition, and is in a great location. It's an easy walk to anywhere along Waikiki Beach.
- Edwina (10/5): Delightful hotel - A delightful hotel well located out of the business of the Waikikibeach area. View from lanai across marina is exceptional. Room comfortable and well equipped. Hotel has a pleasant charm.
