Guest Reviews
- Jeremiah (8/5): - 8 out of 10- super helpful staff, quiet, and very affordable.
Biggest knocks against it was the mattresses were very thin and had plastic sheeting on them. Parking was plenty, but didn’t feel comfortable with any valuables in the car as location is a sparsely populated downtown area.
Still- great value. Solid stay.
- Brandy (10/5): - Amazing! This was a last minute booking for me. My niece got married in Baxuite. With it being so close to Christmas I had the entire place to myself. Host was phenomenal. It was the most unique Hostel I’ve stayed at, and if I’m ever in town again will definitely be staying here.
- Mohammed (10/5): - As a hostel experience, the place was clean and comfortable for the price. I was the only one there for the night so it was also very quiet. For a cheap and clean place I would choose to come again if I need a stopping point during my next road trip
- Hideki (8/5): - Anyway, there are very kindly and hospitality to new comers, so I had wonderful time with them. And here in hostel had many fire equipments and great house. Sure very calm and quietly around area. Inside the hostel,
They make effort to enjoyable mood. It was nice place.
I never forgettable when I back to my home.
- Melissa (10/5): A Great First Time Hostel Experience! - Staying at the Firehouse Hostel & Museum was a wonderful experience! It was easy to find, the staff and volunteers were so friendly and welcoming, and as a solo traveler I felt very safe.
- Jose W (10/5): Nice reservation. - It was so cool the stay there, gently staff.
- Latoria (10/5): - This is an amazing place to stay on the go.
- Debbie (10/5): Great option for a stay in Little Rock - Great option for inexpensive lodging convenient to all areas of Little Rock. Nicely situated by a large park and Performing Arts Center. We stayed in the Captain's room and the room had two sets of bunk beds, fridge, desk, and bathroom with a shower as well as individual boxes/lockers if people prefer to secure their belongings.
Captain's Room is directly by the foyer/ entrance which could have noise or music if you're a light sleeper but everything was quiet by a reasonable hour.
Hosts provided extra blankets when we were cold, Breakfast was bread and cereal but still something if you need it. Huge parking lot and easy to find
Definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful night at a previous FireHouse - Wonderful 1-nite stay at this unique hostel which was previously a firehouse. Very clean bed/room, bathroom and kitchen. Well maintained. Check-in staff was very courteous and helpful.
- Melanie (10/5): - This was exactly what I have come to expect from a hostel. A clean, quiet place to stay. This one had the extra bonus of an in-house museum! Excellent stay.
- Andy (8/5): Firehouse Hostel was a very nice place to stay. - It was lovely. The only drawback was no wash cloths given and the person who checked me in gave me a ten minute speech about how to be good while I was there because one person who stayed there was a disaster. Really? He actually tried to admonish me like a child for something that someone else did.
- Rahul (10/5): - A comfortable stay in a friendly place. Good options for food and drink nearby. A relaxing and stress-free experience overall.
- Neil (10/5): - Interesting place. I slept really well. I got up and my made own coffee with their supplies. They are right next to a beautiful park... It was a nice rest... And close to Jesus and the Amplify fest..
- Harihara (10/5): - Decent place.
- Kasee (10/5): - 10/10 will stay again
- AmyMarie (10/5): - Super adorable and quirky!!
- Verna (10/5): - Sweet place to stay. Nostalgic in a vintage fire station . Across parking lot from Arkansas Museum of Fine Art which is wonderful. Need a whole day to see it or at least a few hours & some energy. The Park Grill in the museum was upscale & food was beautifully presented. My smoked chicken was delicious but tomato pie not so great. Staff here very friendly . We stayed in Captain ‘s room and it was clean & I will stay here again if I come to Little Rock.
- Gabriel (10/5): Stay here and win! - This place is the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Great location. Great people. Great time was had.
- Tania (8/5): - A very friendly and well-situated hostel. The free continental breakfast seemed to run out of groceries the longer we stayed (no milk for dry cereal on the third day?!?). A picture for the private room would have alleviated disappointment at the spartan digs, but the price was right. The setting in the park, next to the brand new (free!) art museum can’t be beat.
- Percy Lucas (10/5): - Fantastic hostel, very detailed lounge and cool history on the firehouse itself. I slept well and had no problems with checking out, super easy. There were friendly people I met. Clara, maci, and mach were all cool peeps who helped me on my stay. Also, big thanks to the manager working out my booking date error. Thanks for being a compassionate person! Would definitely book here again.
- Christine (10/5): - Sue, the volunteer at front desk, was kind & welcoming. She even helped me find a sushi restaurant nearby.
I’m a 60 year old woman traveling solo - first time in a hostel - and I really loved the experience. I had the entire female bunk room to myself - which was ok - I did get a brief chat with the other visitors (male) during breakfast which was very nice.
Church right across the street so I can get Sunday service before hitting the road again. Great experience
- FRANCIS (10/5): - It's a hostel and a museum; I was there when it was a bit more quiet maybe because I checked in on a Sunday and in early March but I'd stay here if I found myself in Little Rock AR again.
- Ashley (10/5): - Loved it! Highly recommend!
- martha (8/5): - For a small town, this was a fair stay for 1 night. Agree with other reviews. There was more to desire with staff. Sounds like system was down and they took my info on a sticky note. After several Uber drives, they did not recommend me to walk around, not the safest neighborhood.
- Wilson Selorm (8/5): - I had a great time
- Rene (6/5): - Yes, it’s a hostel. Their description needs updating, and note there’s no elevator. There’s a first-floor dorm, but it’s co-ed.
- VARUN (8/5): - good location
- rosemary (8/5): - i liked the nostaliga, if only the employees could appreciate it. i really like the idea behind the hostel, but again the staff needs to be a little more involved. the general manager, james was great and helpful. i was actually disappointed that i had no roommates until the last night. i felt very safe and was comfortable and i definitely plan to stay again. i also like that side of north little rock.
- Casey (10/5): House used to be a fire house!! - Wonderful stay! Young man behind the counter gave me a quick tour and told me about the museum and hostel. It was fun walking through the museum. House was built in 1919. Lots of history. We stayed in the family room. Dorm style with a private bath. We enjoyed our stay.
- Michele (2/5): - As a firefighter, I thought my business trip to Little Rock would be much more adventurous and fun by staying in a firehouse museum. It was a little hard to find after dark, even with GPS. I passed it a few times because all the lights were off even tho it was still during listed check in hours. Since it was closed when I got there, despite my reservation, I had to find other accommodations. I rang the doorbell several times but I couldn’t hear it outside the building and looking through all of the windows, it looked clean and seemed like such an interesting place to visit. There is a nice parking lot but as a lady traveling alone, I did not feel safe sitting there for very long. I would like to add that after multiple unanswered calls to the number listed, I emailed via Expedia and got a response within a couple of hours offering to meet me to let me in. If I hadn’t just paid for & gotten into a hotel I may have gone back but it was midnight and I had business meeting very early the next morning so it just wasn’t feasible. Overall it was an extremely disappointing experience!
- Paul (10/5): - Very interesting place.
Nice people - enjoyed my stay
- Ebony (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay.
- Angela (10/5): - It's in a museum!
Cool location and immaculate. Very chill and more fun than a hotel. They were having a movie night when I got there. You have a card key to get into the building and to get into the dorm area.
I felt very safe.
The pillows are a little flat, and they don't want you bringing outside bedding (probably wise), so I'd stick a towel or jacket under there if you like a thicker one.
Everyone was very quiet after quiet hours.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Boho style of traveling - Very friendly folks and an easy atmosphere.
- Peggy (8/5): Hostel & museum in one! - Host/volunteers were very friendly and I felt right at home. Definitely recommend this hostel, close to many things in walking distance
- dawn (2/5): - i wasnt able to stay because she claimed they dont rent too pulaski county residents as my drivers has a arkansas address,it was because im black
- Rachel (10/5): Stay at HI Little Rock - Hostel with dorm style accommodations but clean, comfortable, and Very Cheap
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Leandra and Rob were the perfect hosts! They pointed me to cool spots to see during my stay, went the extra mile more than once, and were a pleasure to hang out with.
- Pauline (10/5): - The accommodations were VERY adequate. Nice, clean and simple. The desk host was welcoming and nice and helpful. They are volunteers I believe, but they run a tight ship. We were able to walk to Main Street for restaurants, bars and the Rock Town Distillery. (Just be careful ordering “mixed cocktails”, because they add a 30% tax! The highest in the country!) When we returned, we enjoyed some nice conversations with other guests in the dining room area. The place itself is really cool. (It’s a Firehouse!) My daughter (21) was not thrilled about sharing a place with strangers at first, but she ended up really liking it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was great, as advertised
- Dwain (10/5): - Such a great place our 5 year old really loved the place. We cant thank the staff any more for there hospitality. We will definitely visit again.
- Patrick (10/5): Exactly what I needed with no luxuries - Very helpful and attentive host, clean room and linens and cheap availability. Felt nice and comfortable for a place to sleep for the night with with no needed luxuries. Thank you for the stay
- Landon (10/5): rea choice - Awesome service and very safe and clean
- Landon (10/5): great experience - Very clean and close to everything
- Reed (8/5): Good hostel - Service was friendly, value wise this is the best bang for your buck. It’s hostel so you know what to expect, but this one is pretty clean plus it’s in an old fire station so there’s history behind it. Pretty cool place to stay!
- Candice (8/5): Unique - Unique experience. I was the sole person in the dorm. COVID-19 may have influenced that. The dorm was clean and functional with the exception of used razors in the shower. The temperature was comfortable. The shower took a while to achieve temperature, but hot water was available. Sound carries. You can hear someone downstairs break wind. I didn’t access common quarters other than dorm and restroom. I can’t offer any input on those facilities. MacArthur Park seems to host it’s fair share of vagrants. Most people are otherwise fishing, exercising, reading or accessing the dog park.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location. The staff is Awesome. The whole place is very unique. The other guest are exceptional. Very unique place to stay. I love it.
- Eyal (10/5): Great hostel - It was a very nice stay staff is great place looks nice and cleane overall great experience
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hostel run by a few volunteers. It's a small place, so definitely contact them if you'll arrive outside of normal hours, though. Would stay again!
- Robert (10/5): - Not only is it a hostle, It’s also a museum for firefighters.
