• Egbert (9/5): Relaxing days in comfortable environment - We found the Tendo Hotel to be a good blend of Japanese style room and Japanese and western amenities. American, Chinese and Japanese breakfast dishes are available at the buffet. We slept well on the tatami mat and futon. We found the onsen very nice and relaxing. We did not notice anything that could be improved.

We loved the location which was within easy walking distance of the train station, great restaurants, and museums. Our suite had a beautiful view, and was full of lovely extras like yukata of all sizes, tea, water, and snacks. The onsen was amazing, including the sauna. The Premier Lounge was an added luxury that we enjoyed. The gift shop was full of wonderful souvenirs, plus the gift shop attendant very kindly helped us mail our luggage to our next destination. The room was stuffy and hot and the a/c had been disconnected so we were uncomfortable temperature-wise.

I really enjoyed their breakfast buffet. The view of the mountains from the room can't be beat. I agree with one review that said the toilet in the reception is the best toilet I have been to in Japan, as crazy as that may sound. Highly recommend!

• Sean (10/5): - We loved this onsen hotel. The onsen is incredible. I wish we had stayed for more than 1 night, but our schedule was a bit tight. However, it was a great stay. It's near enough to Yamadera, which is definitely worth a hike up the 1,000 steps, the Hiroshige hotel and much more. I would have liked to explore Tendo even more and have even more time in the onsen. Oh, and the kaiseki dinner was so delicious and in a private room where we had a view of an incredible sunset over the nearby mountains. The service by the staff was also exceptional. Super!!! If I am back in Japan, I'd love to come back.

• Kristy (1/5): We stayed on a Saturday night and the hotel was full of young families. With the terrible sound proofing we heard a lot - The onsen was the only good thing - large indoor and outdoor. Noise both inside and outside the hotel made it impossible to sleep
• Annie (10/5): Fabulous! - The breakfast spread was good and we enjoyed our 4 mornings of good breakfast. It is Japanese style mixed with some western, there are juices, tea, coffee and desserts. The staff serving breakfast was very polite and neat. What we like best is the private room Japanese dinner which we enjoyed for the 3 nights. Very exclusive and different night, different menu. On our last night our dinner was changed from 2nd floor to the 10 floor which allow us to see the night scene of this little town. I highly recommend this for family or honey moon couple. We booked 3 rooms and requested for our rooms to be next to one another and the hotel helped us with this request. The Onsen in this Ryoken was clean and comfortable both indoor and outdoor. Walking from Tendo station to here is about 15 mins. The room is super comfortable, clean, shower and WC separated, well furnished in Japanese style. If I have a chance, will return. There are more locals that tourist here which is better. Hopefully the hotel's business do not expand into more mass volume tourist which will spoil the tranquility and embience.
• Thomas (9/5): Great location with many restaurants and a Lawson's - Staff was very hospitable and made it easy to navigate the area. Would stay again as it is a 15 minute walk from the train station. ( they do take you to and from station when you arrive and leave). Nothing.

Recommend this hotel for anyone plan to have short stay to Tendo, especially who is planning to Ginsan Onsen銀山溫泉

There is complimentary shuttle service at the train station ( delicious meal at the station ) . The staff are courteous and helpful. The room is large and Japanese style and the onsen is beautiful . There is lots of good restaurant around and convenience store too. Local snack and drink will be welcoming you and the morning breakfast is a must. Food are so authentic and delicious. I ate the most delicious chicken meat there. The view from the room will take your breath away !! The toilet in the reception is the best toilet I have been to in Japan !! An English-speaking staff is very attentive to help 12 of us. The food for breakfast and dinner is rich and delicious. I will stay here again next time I go to Tendo. Thank you😊

• MASAYUKI (8/5): - ホテル勤務員の対応はとても良かったが、 服装が少しだらけていた。清潔さはこの上なくよく、過ごしやすいホテル客室だった。施設のコンディションはラウンジが夜まで営業して欲しいと思った。特に、ジュースが飲みたい子供が楽しめない。周辺は食べ物が美味しい店はたくさんあった一方で、飲み物が安い店がなかった。各レストラン施設へのアクセスは良いが、駐車場が少し遠く感じた。特に暑いとせっかく温泉でサッパリしたのに、駐車場まで歩くと汗をかいてベタベタしてしまう。そこを考慮していただきたい。

• Andy (10/5): Tendo Hotel Review - It was a great stay. he hotel was older, and one can tell from the architecture and decor it was built in the 80s and haven't gone through much renovations. The hotel is clean and is a full service hotel, with a large lobby and multiple restaurants / conference rooms (although everything is sort of dated to 80s / 90s) That did not deter the ambiance of the onsen. We had a full moon on the nights we stayed, and watching the full moon while soaking in the outdoor bath, with the waterfall and the stone pool lit, was the highlight of the trip. I also like that they used fresh flowers everywhere, with a large fresh flower display in the lobby. It is a fresh difference from some of the ultra modern hotels with granite everywhere. It is a sort of old fashion throwback to the heydays of Japan economy in the 80s. We had a large bamboo in the lobby area when we visited to tie fortunes wishes to. We could not find the self service laundry (but also didn't ask) The staff was friendly and very good, but a lot of the signage / directions did not have English. We had a very fluent english speaker / and english directions help us. Non-Japanese speakers do not need to worry, there are lots of help. It is a great onsen hotel. The hotel is located about 5 minutes by hotel shuttle (or taxi) from the station. It also had classic Shogi sets from different players displayed in the lobby area, given Tend city's heritage. Highly recommended if you are in the area.
• テツジ (8/5): - 宿泊した部屋は改装後でしたので、快適でした。部屋中には姿見鏡があるとよかったかな、 洗面所のコップ、歯ブラシの色違い、サウナのシキマットはグツトでした。 また泊まりたいです。
• James (9/5): Superb - Restaurants and izakayas within easy walking distance. Comfortable room and bed. Large onsen with a built-in waterfall. Shuttle service from train station. Not enough directions, signage in English.
• markwwl (10/5): Good choice in Yamagata - I stayed Yamagata for ski. I booked a room for family of 4. The tendo hotel is good in service. The concierge is helpful. The staffs are friendly. The Onsen is good and the open bath is amazing. The breakfast is buffet styles. The dinner is traditional japanese kaiseki style which is delicious and wonderful. The price is much more reasonable than staying in Zao or obanazawa which are too famous and overpriced. If you want to stay in Yamagata in between Zao and Obanazawa. I think Tendo hotel is really a good choice!

• Kozue (10/5): - 子ども連れでの宿泊でしたが、部屋も綺麗で安心して過ごせました。 時間がなくキッズルームで遊ぶことはできなかったのですが、大浴場はベビーベッドやベビーバスなどがあり、子連れに優しいホテルだなと感じました。また清潔感もあります。 到着時、荷物もスタッフの方が運んでくださり子連れには助かりました。 朝のバイキングも大満足です。 また山形に行く際は利用したいです(^^) 　
• Gary (8/5): - Actually the hotel is quiet and good, staff are very helpful. However, although Tendo is a very small town, the traffic is definitely vey poor.

• Andrey (10/5): Exceptional - Free shuttle service (and you don't need to wait for 5-6 people to fill the car). Excellent hot springs with a waterfall. Spacious clean room. Fast check-in and check-out. Awesome location, 5 min away from Tendo station. Their souvenir store was open but the seller was "out for five minutes" according to a small note, for straight 2 days.
