- Masara (10/5): Once in a lifetime… - A truly stunning, historical and special stay. The owner and team were so wonderful and looked after us beautifully. The suite itself was divine. Soaking in a cedar tub while looking at the forest floor is something we’ll never forget. The private dining room makes your stay feel even more exclusive. The food was truly out of this world. Our baby was catered for beautifully. We even had a large Moses basket in the dining room for her to rest. The area itself is very cool- there was an arts and crafts fair there when we stayed. There is a beautiful forest walk too. Can’t fault the stay and can’t wait to return one day. Nothing it was perfect.

- Kerri (10/5): Enjoyed full Japanese culture at Araya Totoan! - We had an amazing experience at Araya Totoan! We arrived in a taxi from Kaga Onsen station. We left our shoes at the entrance for our one night stay. They ushered us to the lobby where they gave us information about the ryokan. Took us to our room. Showed us around and we sat at the table and they gave us more information. Our room was absolutely lovely. While pricey, it was our opportunity to experience the full Japanese culture from the moment we removed our shoes at the front door to the next morning when we put them on to leave. We got settled in and marveled at the attention to detail. We had chosen a room with private bath from the Onsen. So we spent a bit of time relaxing in the two tubs (one hot and one a tad cooler). It was so peaceful and relaxing being outdoors in this beautiful setting. While at Araya Totoan, they encourage guests to wear traditional Japanese clothing with socks they provide. We changed into ours and went to the lobby to have a glass of complimentary sparkling wine. It was then time for dinner. We were shown to a private dining area and were served traditional Japanese cuisine. I am not an adventurous eater, but tried everything. Some things we liked more than others. Again, we wanted this to be a real Japanese experience so we were thrilled at every turn. We did have to sleep in our own bed as there were two twin type mattresses in our room. Still unusual for as after 38 years of marriage. Had breakfast the next morning in our private dining room. Breakfast was traditional Japanese, and very different to what we are used to coming from America. I would highly recommend Araya Totoan if you want to have this idyllic Japanese experience. The staff made us feel so special and were so accommodating. It was a perfect evening and one of the highlights in our two week stay in Japan!

It was beautiful, comfortable, and everyone who worked there was pleasant and made the stay so welcoming. The whole point of being there is to relax and enjoy the property, the hospitality, and the food so don't make plans to leave too much.

- Verified traveler (10/5): 文句なし - あらや滔々庵には、全く不満はない。素晴らしい滞在時間を過ごせた。ただ周辺に目ぼしい遊び場がなく、あらや滔々庵だけを楽しみに行くのであれば、おすすめしたい。

Und vor allem auch exzellentes Essen zauberhaft angerichtet. Wer für ein paar Tage in richtiges japanisches Leben eintauchen will, ist hier richtig.
