Guest Reviews
- sethavin (1/5): The staff didn’t care about the family. At night the family heard the fighting and the hotel said it from the neighbors -
- Cyril (7/5): -
- Lin (3/5): Poor -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome room, for those that like interesting/historic and rustic.
- Keith (10/5): Basic Khmer lodge on banks Kampot River - The property is cleaned daily, excellent house keeping. The view over the Kampot river is awesome. Sit and watch local fishermen and the fishing fleet heading out in the evening. The food and staff are excellent. Fantastic value for money. The only thing I would raise is rubbish in the river tends to collect in the elbow of the river which we looked out over but if all the hoteliers did their bit this issue would solved by removing it.
- Jake (9/5): Loved it! - Breakfast was great, served by the river. Loved the traditional Khmer house concept and the location. A very special place in Kampot! Nothing
- Ludek (9/5): Superb - The keyword is expectations. If you want to experience an authentic Khmer house, this is the ideal place. Traditional houses, a well-maintained resort, a tasty, rich breakfast, and kind, helpful staff. Located right at the starting point of the kayak trips. The traditional houses have practically no sound insulation; it’s like sleeping in a tent. If you need silence to sleep well, this is not the place for you. Also, small animals like lizards, mice, and cats may appear in your bedroom at practically any time. If this is not acceptable to you, choose another place.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb - Lovely property outside of Kampot town, good access to Kayaking and great outdoor bathrooms in some rooms.
- Owen (9/5): Peaceful, great food, great facilities. Would recommend and stay again! - The location is stunning and peaceful, directly next to the river side. They grow some of the produce for meals on site and the rest is mostly from the local market. The menu was huge and what we had from it was great. The chef I believe is French, as is the owner, and this definitely was noticeable in the mix of European and Asian food alike. They also have a vast selection of Belgian Beers if that is your thing. We hired some Kayaks from the lodge and took them independently on one of the two main Kayak routes within five minutes from the river bank. This was one of our highlights of our three week trip in Cambodia and was a really good opportunity to see wildlife and just feel relaxed amongst the quiet bamboo surroundings. Highly recommend. We wish we had been able to stay here longer. The staff were also lovely and did their best to help us when ever we asked for assistance. Our lodge room had a broken lock meaning we couldn't secure the room. This wasn't much of a concern as it is a very private and safe location and they did say they could fix this the next day. We only stayed the one night so it didn't affect us and imagine it was resolved after we left.
I wouldn't call the river side sand a beach as such as it was about 0.5m long and used to push the kayaks in from. Though this didn't affect our stay. Not sure why they mention as a beach but if you intend to sunbathe and relax on a beach towel you might be disappointed.
Our mosquito net had some holes in which we didn't report as it was late in the evening when we noticed at night BUT i have not doubt they would have done their best to resolve this had been there more than one night.
- Marta (10/5): Exceptional - Great spot, very nice and helpful staff, beautiful rooms
- Veronique (10/5): lovely homestay close to Kompot in a clam place - great location and charming place
- Donna (9/5): Superb -
- Tessapolder (10/5): Super! - Champa Lodge is a beautiful peaceful place full. It has a very natural feel and a nice view of the river.
- Tomohiro (10/5): Lovely Khmer style housing lodge - - warm wooden well maintained floor
- hot shower with a big tank
- spacious terrace
- free facilities in the property
- open, green and slightly windy garden - nothing about this lodge but noisy neighbors with party musics. The government should control service providers for nighttime noises.
- Anna (10/5): Highly recommended peaceful location outside of Kampot town - Really nice spot out of Kampot but easy to get there with a tuk tuk. Very peaceful place, very well maintained. Basic breakfast is much better than at other places.
Great to have a glass of wine at night and to enjoy the warm summer night outside. We were not a fan of the coffee which is served in a French press. But that’s just a question of personal taste.
- Maddie (9/5): Superb - Lovely room and location. Really comfy room and clean. The breakfast wasn't great. The coffee and tea were really bad.
- Adrian (4/5): Disappointing -
- Barbora (8/5): Very good - Excellent choice Not enough furniture in the room
- Enric (9/5): Good! - Really nice place, quiet, clean and great location
- Sandra (7/5): Good quiet venue to relax and enjoy the setting. Not too far from town. - The staff were attentive and helpful to any queries or requests for information. The location was good on the waterfront and food was tasty. We had to request a move from the room which was advertised as having a river view. This was agreed but when checking out there was an attempt to charge extra for this which we refused to pay. The manager\owner didn't seem interested in us as the only guests but hosted individuals who appeared known to him.
- Susan (8/5): Rustic, riverside dwelling with laid-back feel - We stayed in Palm lodge. We loved the pressure and hot water in the shower. The mosquito net and coil burner reduced the risk of bites. The two fans were positionable and the stand up fan was moveable so the temperature at night was comfortable.
We enjoyed breakfast looking over the river, the crepes were lovely and it was good cafetière coffee. The fruit bowl was a generous portion with yoghurt. We ate dinner here both nights and had great steaks one night with kampot pepper. The Khmer bbq looked a sociable option streaming vegetables, noodles and a meat platter over a charcoal table burner. There are great beer and wine options. We used the kayaks and enjoyed exploring the green cathedral , although there was more plastic pollination than we’d expected. We used earplugs at night - there was music from local resorts. We didn’t mind the noise of the fishing boats passing or the mosque. We loved the geckos and the tree frog that peered out from a bamboo hanging pot inside - but decided to return it outside!
We took the advertised Tuk Tuk tour and thoroughly enjoyed a genuine, local viewpoint avoiding the more commercial pepper plantations. This was a great way to experience the locality. It’s easy to get Tuk tuks into Kampot. Staff are lovely. Even better if:
Shampoo and conditioner were provided , in addition to the shower gel
- Ashrusha (8/5): Very good -
- Niklas (9/5): Superb -
- Toch (10/5): Exceptional -
