Et surtout la situation géographique : Établissement situé sur une colline et éloigné du centre ville, à 20-25 min à pieds des rues commerçantes.

david (8/5): Loved the place and location. Would recommend - Breakfast was delightful, certainly hit the spot. Views of town are stunning from the rooms and rooftop terrace. Safe secure parking as well. Short walk to the centre of town/makets 15 minutes. Be prepared for the hill on the way back but good to walk off the great meals in town. Morning rooster wasn’t my friend. There was also some odd speaker phone broadcasting randomly in the neighbourhood. Not sure what it was about but not during sleeping hours so not really troublesome

Lark (10/5): Exceptional - This is a lovely property a little bit up a hill in Otavalo (still very near to the center). The hosts are very warm and kind. The bed was comfortable and it was all very peaceful. Definitely recommend! There was a bit of noise from some neighborhood dogs and roosters in the night.

Immediately on arrival took me shopping for food. The verandah view over Otavalo is stunning and the gardens are abundant with beautiful flowers. Family’s son took me to Peguche Falls - it was a beautiful and memorable experience. I found cooking for one difficult as pts and pans large for big parties.

Our room was really spacious, beds comfy, and lots of blanket to keep us warm. The town is 15 min walk, or less down, maybe more up. The owners are really friendly and help us out a lot (planning and organizing some side trip, deopping us off in town when we had bank issues, ect). Carlos (8/5): Great Place for Otavalo Trail Participants - What I liked most about Hostal Curiñan was the personalized attention from the owners; they were incredibly kind and friendly. Additionally, the view from the hostel was amazing, offering a stunning panorama of Ibarra. It was also conveniently close to the starting point of a race I participated in called Otavalo Race, located at Parque San Sebastián. I didn't like being asked if I wanted to share my room with someone I didn't know. They thought we were friends, but it was quite awkward.

Ar (5/5): Not great - Nice people but they don't know how to manage. Location is on the top some taxis don't want to climb up because it is a steep and rocky road. On my last night my room was flooded from the rain.
Alyssa (8/5): - Un lugar muy bonito y tranquilo. Vi algunos colibris en el jardín y la familia es muy bonito, habla Quechua y español. Es un camino corto desde el centro de Otavalo pero sentí seguro en caminar allí. So much quieter than other properties in the center of the city. Breakfast is simple but sufficient and I felt safe walking to and from the downtown area for other meals. The owners are wonderful and speak Quechua as well as Spanish. Some beautiful long-tailed hummingbirds were out in the garden.
Cathrine (9/5): Wonderful view of Otavalo and very friendly owners and staff. - Breakfast was fine: coffee, scrambled eggs, juice, some bread and jam. It is a family run place and I had some brief, but very warm and friendly encounters with the owners. They took time out to explain about events during the days I was staying there. It was a bit cold in the room, especially the floor, when I had just been in the Amazon some days before. Not much can be done about that, but have some socks or shoes to wear :-)

The shower was cold and neighbours play music to call people to work rather early some days (6:40am), but this might be heard from anywhere and is beyond their control.

Quiet location a bit outside of town, but within easy walking distance, even with kids. Felt very safe and had secure parking. Nice views of the valley and volcanoes. Lukas (10/5): We are sad to leave, our favorite place in Latin America - Welcoming, helpful and friendly owners - large kitchen, extremely well equiped - good breakfast in the morning - large, bright and comfortable room - top beds to sleep - it was really clean everywhere - a lot of blankets for the night, but the room was warm - shower: hot and good pressure at the same time - excellent Wifi everywhere in the hotel - big terrasses to get some sun - cute cats and dogs running around - small shop with hand made pullovers - tourist information for the places around We slept great, but you get awake at 7:00am as you can hear a super active sport class or something like this from the town - the hill is a bit annoying but like this it is more quiet
Philipp (9/5): Superb - The family that owns this beautiful place is super friendly and even provide a small introduction into Quechua (their indigenous language) to those who are interested. If you speak Spanish, they are the perfect starting point if you want to learn more about the life and culture of the countless indigenous people in Ecuador. You will be walking a few minuted until you reach plaza de los ponchos (the famous market), but on the other hand the hotel is sitting at the brink of the city of Otavalo - you can just turn around and discover the rural communities which, for a European, also makes for an awesome experience!

Deborah (10/5): Beautiful place, spectacular views, kind and humble hosts - This is the best place that I've stayed at in all of Latin America. Apart from it being very economical, it is perfectly situated only a few meters from the centre on a hill with magnificent views, 360 degrees. I had a really nice room on the 3rd floor with beautiful mountain views and fast, stable WiFi. The bed and pillows are very comfortable, white sheets and plenty of blankets. The kitchen downstairs is massive and is the most equipped I've ever seen. The staff here are so kind and friendly that they go out of their way to help you. It's very peaceful and silent at night. The few dogs around rarely bark, and not for more than a minute or two during the day, so a perfect place to relax or work online. Leaving!
Mini (10/5): No words to describe how amazing - I do not have the words to express how good my time here was. Not only is the hostel in a beautiful location with many amenities for an affordable price but the family that runs the hostel quickly became a family I could call my own. José, Matilde, Inti, and Joselito are all such kind and personable people - I was here during Inti Raymi and José invited me to join for a ritual bathing ceremony practiced by many of the indigenous people, and explained the significance of it all. Beyond the hospitality, the rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable and if you want it, single rooms are very affordable. On top of this, Inti offers a taxi service (well known as the ‘Inti Taxi’ haha) and can bring you wherever you need! During one of my days here I took the ‘Inti Taxi’ to El Lechero and the Condor Park and Inti was able to share tons of information about these places. This is the perfect place to stay if you are looking to visit and immerse yourself in the Otavaleño culture. I also learned some Kichwa from the family as well.

The owners are very king and can give you a lot of advice for your activities ! The sheets are made from fabrics sourced directly from the Otavalo market, so we're immersed right into our journey! Susan (1/5): Beware...they might overbook and send you to another hotel that will try to up-charge! - Didn't end up staying at Hostal Curiñan because they overbooked and then made arrangements for us to stay at a different family-owned hotel. BEWARE....massive bait and switch when they "overbook" with an attempt to up-charge...especially if you don't speak Spanish. We made a reservation at Hostal Curiñan through Booking.com and got a confirmation number. We did not get a notice from Booking or Hostal Curiñan that we needed to contact Hostal Curiñan to further confirm the reservation. When we arrived at Hostal Curiñan, we were told by the wife that there were no rooms because we didn't confirm the reservation (we weren't alone - there was a list of us that had been overbooked), but that they would secure lodging for our family of 5 back in the city (Hostal Curiñan is located outside the city). The husband kindly drove us back to the city to the hotel they secured for us. The husband and wife at Hostal Curiñan were very nice and offered to pick us up the next morning and take us back to Hostal Curiñan for free breakfast (part of the package for staying at Hostal Curiñan) because the new hotel didn't have breakfast facilities. It went downhill from there. The new hotel that Hostal Curiñan secured for us was run by the sister of the husband at Hostal Curiñan. She was not there when we arrived, but her young-adult daughter was. We asked the daughter multiple times to pay and the daughter said we would have to wait for her mother. When we got back to the hotel after dinner, the mother was there. Instead of paying $38.26 per night (the price confirmed through Booking.com), the mother demanded we pay $150 ($30 per person). Thankfully we had someone in our party who spoke fluent Spanish and was able to negotiate. The mother got on the phone and talked to her brother from Hostal Curiñan. Other family members of the hotel proprietor entered the hallway during the negotiations. There was a lot of heated back and forth and the woman finally honored the Booking.com price, but it was a very tense situation. Unfortunately, a complete trust buster for staying at Hostal Curiñan.

Johanna (8/5): Very good - Lovely staff, nice location be aware of steep uphill walk to get there, breakfast is bread, juice, omelette, instant coffee, hot shower and good matress, lovely room Dogs barking for very long time in the evening and during night. Music from town is loud, too.
Brenda (8/5): Very chill and friendly vibe with all the necessities plus. - Very cool place. Friendly safe atmosphere, baggage storage was a bonus and the free walking tour was excellent! Fernadito is the best. So thankful I could still order food hours after checking out 😀 Will definitely come back and recommend to friends. I’m a snob and a private bathroom would have been preferable.
G (10/5): Exceptional - The owners and staff were as friendly as could be. Beautiful building with comfortable rooms, hot water and an amazing view. Breakfast included was perfect to start the day Quite cold early morning during breakfast.
