Guest Reviews
- Romas (10/5): Paradise in Constantia - The setting , the staff & quality of service - nithingbwas too big a deal.
It was so good that when we had to stay over for several days due to flight cancellations, we chose to come back to Ibis House Having to leave😢
- Heather (6/5): To stay here you need a car, unless you simply want peace and solitude. Beautiful but remote. - Ibis House is a beautifully designed and decorated large house in a gorgeous setting, with pool and extensive well-maintained, tropical-type gardens. It's tranquil, very quiet. Our room enjoyed a lovely view of the garden and pool and had an large balcony, perfect for sunbathing - and big enough for a party! Service from reception and waiting staff was exemplary. There was a pinched feeling about hospitality. The fridge in our room held only a disappointing bottle of water. There was no wine or other drink on the premises - so no sunset glass of wine or beer, and nowhere near to buy our own. No nibbles or snacks. Breakfast was a scanty affair too. Low qualilty honey, only sourdough bread (which we don't like) and what seemed like a meagre selection of fruit. There was a shanty-style cafe in the bush, just outside a locked door to the premises - where we had to get our lunch. (which was good, if very rustic!)
- Lois (10/5): Fabulous - Some of the most beautiful grounds we’ve seen, charming pool area and breakfast was fabulous Room decor slight outdated
- Juliet (10/5): The loveliest of people work at The Ibis making you feel so welcome and really at home. There’s a wonderful cafe connect - What a stunning house. Gorgeous plants and photos line the hallways. We loved that there were limited rooms so it’s not full of people. Our baby was able to nap by the lovely pool in such a beautiful tranquil setting We loved it all!

- Victoria (8/5): Gorgeous house and quiet peaceful place - Well located and beautiful house with stunning pool side and garden. Rooms are gorgeous and spacious. Located close to all wine farms on Constantia We were in the suite so we expected the room to be well equipped but unless you request in advance, you don’t get a coffee machine and a fridge. It’s only after the stay that we found out that we had to make a request before arrival which is very weird for a 5 star property.
This is personal preference but don’t expect to have staff available all day, or a house manager on site all the time, to our liking, the house feels very empty, especially at night.
- Dube (10/5): My stay was a very comfortable needed breakaway even though it was very short but defo will come bac - The vintage style of everything Only if the breakfast station/area food be covered please
- Tina (8/5): - The pool area was fantastic The breakfast could have been better
- Q (9/5): Geweldige locatie en verblijf in een smaakvol ingericht landhuis - Alles dik in orde
- Mark (6/5): A lovely house in beautiful surroundings - Caitlin was a fantastic asset to Ibis House. Without her, the place would feel quite different. She was very welcoming. We didn't like that we were not made to feel hugely welcome by the Owner and her friends. It felt like a half 'house party' with long term friends staying and us rather annoying guests!
Internet and electrics intermittent. A power surge destroyed all our adaptors so that we could not charge up the phones etc.
- Kevin (10/5): A grand house with comfort, very personalised service and beautiful grounds - just perfect! - This is a beautiful cape villa with a number of rooms within the original structure. Downstairs there are many comfortable spaces to sit within the grand rooms amongst the beautiful eclectic collections of antiques. The pool is wonderful, deep, a good size and in the beautiful setting of the grounds. The rooms are all individual - most up a feature double staircase with sandstone treads. Exceptionally comfortable beds, large bathrooms, fantastic furnished terraces. Breakfast was the best we had during our stay. Kaitlyn and all of the staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. The location is perfect for peace and tranquility…. a short drive from Constantia Village. All in all, a wonderful place that felt as comfortable as home. Nothing, everything was amazing.
- Karim (8/5): Beautiful house next to the national park - Beautiful house, and very nice pool. The room was spacious and clean. The location is amazing, just in front of the national park - perfect for morning walks. The staff despite being very nice was not very present. Also we felt that some amenities were missing in the room (no conditioner, no vanity kit, no tissue). The breakfast was average.

Komen zeker terug !

- Shaun (10/5): A delightful overnight stay - Lovely property with a nice pool. Peaceful surroundings and a charming manageress. The breakfast was of good quality and substantial Nothing
- Justin (7/5): Good -
- Jill (9/5): Absolutely wonderful! - A beautiful old world vibe, offered with hospitality and warmth. Deeply relaxing and with beautiful views and rooms. I would highly recommend a stay here. It would have been lovely to have a greater variety on offer in the honesty bar - and for the wine to be a little cheaper by the glass.
- Bianca (6/5): Pleasant -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing throughout, hidden gem
- Thais (10/5): Magical retreat - Ibis House is a true gem in the heart of Constantia. The property is absolutely stunning, offering breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. The on-site team is incredibly kind and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. I’m so grateful we discovered this hidden oasis and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend!
- Lesego (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mart (10/5): Amazing, beautiful place next to nature, constantia. Amazing service and we loved the home feeling and the pool - So beautiful and well maintained
- Elizabeth (10/5): Just perfect - Tranquil and luxurious with exceptional staff and wonderful pool
- Alexis (9/5): Beautiful, private and quiet - Private and quiet
- Ingrid (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet and relaxing with nature close by. Lovely swimmingpool. Nice breakfast on the terrace.
- Harminder (10/5): Exceptional - Such a beautiful property, grounds are well kept as well as the pool. There is even access to the national forest behind the property which is also beautiful and a good walk. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming the house manager was very helpful in finding a beautiful restaurant for us to have an evening meal at and also even sorted the booking for us, she also had so much helpful advice on activities we could do while we were there. Would happily come back to stay here at ibis house again and again.
- John (9/5): Very comfortable and exactly what was needed at the end of our stay in South Africa - Fabulous location. Lovely gardens
- Matthijs (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious, great area with a nice area to walk, nice coffee bar and breakfast
- Chris (10/5): Perfect stay in a great location. - The property was fantastic. A stately villa with outlying buildings overlooking a private pool and lush, beautiful gardens. Tanya and the staff catered to every need, and the whole experience was fantastic. Perfect location in Constantia was close to wineries and great restaurants.
- André (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (9/5): Ibis House is even more beautiful, serene, and hospitable than it appeared when booking. - Breakfast was delicious and offered different options, it was served on the patio overlooking the pool and the amazing gardens. Beautiful environment and ambience. Only the Wifi, I struggled with speed and strength of connection. But I also did not ask anyone to help me fix it, so the fault may have been partially mine.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): Memorable, very high standard accommodation - Owner and her team....Tanya and Patience. Breakfast. Stunning location. Proximity to all Cape attractions. Large well equipped room with fantastic mountain views. Attention to detail Nothing. It was perfect and would highly recommend
- Tarn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gillian (10/5): A tranquil place to relax. - A lovely breakfast on the terrace. Nothing.
- Keith (9/5): A real find, a Grand House with a good vibe. - A grand traditional house with a very friendly vibe set in beautiful well maintained grounds. There is an abundance of mature palm and deciduous trees with a good population of the local bird varieties. A freshly prepared breakfast of your choice is taken on the patio in good weather, overlooking the amazing salt water swimming pool. This was one of the nicest places we stayed during our tour of the cape. Location was perfect for good eateries, Muizenburg beach, Chapman Peak drive and the right side for Kirstenbosch gardens. For the two of us there was nothing we disliked, apart from we only stayed two nights prior to flying out.
- Julia (10/5): Impressive house within a very green area of Constantia - We had a lovely stay at the Ibis House in Constantia. The house is on a big property right next to Tokai Forest, where we went for a daily walk. The breakfast was nice as well!
Overall a good experience!
- Samuels (7/5): Beautiful property - Beautiful property with not many guests so it’s feels really exclusive We had a short stay so can’t say
- Caroline (10/5): Loved everything about it! - Everything was perfect:
-Our room with a giant terasse giving us the perfect view on Table Mountain, the pool and the gardens
-The delicious breakfast
-The eclectic decoration
-The extremely helpful and kind people working at Ibis House
-The beautiful pool
-The secret forest cafe situated behind the estate.
We loved it. It was truly a highlight during our trip to Cape Town.
- Hr47 (9/5): A wonderful Stay in every Respect - We loved absolutely everything about IBIS HOUSE and only wish we could have spent more time there to really enjoy the beautiful gardens and the tranquility (as well as the pool although the water was too cold for me). We were out and about all day and every day. We hope that we'll get the opportunity to stay there again without having to meet up with friends who live locally in Cape Town every day.
- Iana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional Accomodation with a pool to die for - Exceptionally friendly staff
Loads of clean linen, towels and products in bathroom
The pool area and nature / views are incredible
Lots of secure parking
We felt very safe
Affordable honesty bar system
Very quiet rooms (even for light sleeper)
Air conditioning worked very well
- Alexander (7/5): Well worth the stay and ideal for Cape Town visits. A perfect finish to a great holiday - A wonderful property with super walks starting from the back gate No gym
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracy (8/5): Very good -
- Wayne (10/5): This facility truly exceeded our expectations. We spent one day simply relaxing on the estate. - This is an estate property which backs up against the Table Mt. NP with adjacent hiking trails in the pine forest and marshes. The main home is beautiful, and the bedrooms and bath were spacious. There is a well-stocked library. Breakfast was tasty and filling; served on the outside patio. The property has a deep swimming pool. Parking is ample. The grounds are well-kept. Security is excellent.
- Jason (9/5): Excellent place to spend time, or to use as a base to explore the gorgeous area. - The hotel is absolutely lovely, and Zoe who runs customers is very friendly and on top of everything. Real highlights for us were the amazing swimming pool, and the gate at the back of the property straight out to the Tokai ring, and the Secret Forest Cafe. Made every morning that little bit better. Coffee could have been better (purely personal preference though), but with the secret cafe 50m away there's no problem there. The cupboard space was also a bit tricky, with the fridge and TV taking up a lot. These are minor things though, the stay was still magnificent.
- Kasia (7/5): Quaint - It was quite grand, but dated. Was quite frustrating that my water and tea that I ordered for breakfast never arrived, and I had to go asking for it. Food arrived super quick, so had to eat before any drinks.
- Kajal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (9/5): A haven of peace and style?, comfortable yet affordable. - Great room great breakfast charming hospitality Nothing
- Joanna (6/5): An ok stay - Staff were welcoming and the property itself was lovely. Large bedroom and bathroom with a good shower. Upon arrival we were impressed. However, when we got to our room we were quickly disappointed. The white sofa in the room was dirty and there was some staining on the wall. When I went to run myself a bath in the jacuzzi bath the taps didn't work which was disappointing so I couldn't actually fill up the bath. There were two sinks and the taps in the left hand sink also didn't work. The bed was very hard and needs a topper as it was very uncomfortable. We didn't stay for breakfast and unfortunately were not overly impressed.
- Valeska (10/5): Manor house oasis - Beautiful manor house in an amazing peaceful setting. Well located for Constantia, the wineries and beach at Muizenberg. Super friendly staff. Can only recommend and will definitely be back. Nothing
- N. (10/5): A dream house, wish I could take away some bits and corners along! - A beautiful, grand house! We loved the decor, the grounds, the lush greenery all around. Our room was gorgeous and huge! Morning kicked off with excellent breakfast choices, freshly prepared and served with a smile. Zoe and her team were fantastic. Thank you for a memorable stay! WiFi could be better in the rooms.
- Kirsty (10/5): Beautiful, peaceful fabulous place to stay. - Absolutely stunning, the owners are just brilliant and the staff are fantastic.
We stayed in the pool room (the pool is brilliant) and loved it, the main house is beautiful and peaceful.
Breakfast is delicious and there is a fantastic/tasty cafe out the back gate on a great forest walk.
Loved it here and we will definitely be back xx There is nothing not to like here.

- Mohammed (10/5): Perfect in every way - Ibis House is an oasis of calm within short driving distance of the winelands and the cape. - Bruce (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful setting and accommodation exceptionally well appointed. Nothing
- Joanne (9/5): Superb -
- Mohammed (6/5): Pleasant - location, the villa really nice, perfect breakfast with limited choices. we stayed for 3 night everything was perfect except the last night, there was a load shedding and the gate closed with electricity which not allowed us to enter the hotel, also there was no water when the electricity went off, there is 24/7 reception.
- Tatiana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb stay from start to finish with super welcoming staff - Absolutely fantastic stay from start to finish. The manager Matthew is one of the best hosts we’ve had worldwide (having travelled very extensively) - he is super knowledgable on the local area, nothing is ever too big an ask and he made us feel extremely welcome from the moment we entered the property. Location is outside the main centre of Cape Town but that was exactly what we wanted - peace and quiet in the calm wine Constantia wine region. Would highly recommend the property to any travellers and we will certainly stay here again next time we are in South Africa. Nothing - everything was fantastic!
- Jj1954 (10/5): Exceptional - Our first stop on a month long trip to South Africa - and what a way to start. Manager Matthew arranged an early check-in after an overnight flight, and when he showed us to our room, we were truly astounded. "Room" doesn't do it justice; "suite" is more appropriate. Huge bedroom, two bathrooms, sitting room, and a wraparound balcony giving magnificent views of the mountains. Throw in a pool and a fine breakfast, and it all added up to a memorable stay. Having travelled round SA before, we were well aware that their guest houses are usually outstanding, but Ibis House was exceptional. Nothing!
- Stephen (8/5): Very good - Overall faculty was good Breakfast a little chaotic
- Tracy (9/5): I had a wonderful stay. The property is beautiful. staff very friendly and helpful. Mathew was amazi - Unfortunately I didn't eat breakfast as I had to leave early every morning. Everything was lovely
- Rene (7/5): 3 star guest house - Great location. Old colonial style estate. IBIS House has known better times.

- Marlon (9/5): Superb -
- Antonia (10/5): Highly recommended we had a wonderful stay - Suzanne and the staff could not have been more helpful! - The guest house is in an excellent location yet lovely and private once you are in grounds. Delicious breakfast, very friendly and helpful staff and just wonderful all round!
- Simon (10/5): We will most definitely be back and also be recommending it without reservations to all our friends - Ibis House is like a beautiful oasis of peace and serenity in Constantia, Cape Town. The owners and staff made us feel most welcome and very much at home. This is a true family home filled with charm and character. There is nothing about Ibis House not to like!
