I got room 17, Im a non smoker , but the guest staying around me were all sitting outside smoking and obviously the smoke travelled into my room , which wasnt nice at all, the shower had mould on the floor . Ive stayed in far better places in the country for the same amount. see above

We tried to order dinner and we were told we missed the cut off yet no one communicated the cut off time with us. Just not a pleasant experience. We were returning for the second time and we were hoping we would get the same experience or better. Facilities are also due for an upgrade. Furnishings outdated.

In my search that was not the only room not displaying a number. I had to ask for the internet security code. In my room I could not connect. with laptop in hand I returned to reception. the clerk connected me. I returned to my room but still could not connect. I gave up. this is not the first time I have stayed at this establishment. the last time i stayed over I was greeted with ' Hello Mister Prowse welcome back'

- Miguel (1/5): Terrible and frustrating - The grounds and gardens Invasive ants that bite, kamikaze vampire mosquitoes, lawns with thorns.... not practical for small and short dogs and inconsideratly noisy guests Shower drains were blocked, no soap and 1 bottle of water for 3 guests. The worst... was EFF delegates who took over the garden tables in the evening in front of rooms 3 to 9 thinking everyone needed to share in their ideology... After that party, the after party began where they brought in additional entertainment (use your own imagination).... fortunately they gave up around midnight. The next morning, you could see the whole place was littered with the remains of that gathering. It's the 2nd time we've had to do a stop over in beaufort west (1st time was a disaster) but we chose Matoppo Inn based on latest reviews.... maybe it was just our luck to experience what we did? but it is the last time Beaufort West will ever see us. Good riddance to both.

- Annelize (4/5): I expected much more for a 4-star b&b - The staff was accomodating with our late arrival and gave us a complimentary breakfast (which was delicious!) to make up for the room discrepancy. . I booked and paid for 4 adults and 2 children, and our room was not prepared. The sleeper couch was not made, and no bedding was provided for it either. There were only 2 large towels in the bathroom, which we had to share amongst the 6 of us. The basin tap spraying water out in all directions, leaving you sopping wet after an attempt to brush teeth or wash your hands. The ceiling fan seemed loose and was wobbling and swinging and making a horrible sound when it was on, so we could not leave it on during the night. There was only 1 small triangular milk thing in the fridge, so we could not prepare tea or coffee. No staff member was available to rectify any of these problems, so we had to spend the night in those conditions.

Generator also left to run out of diesel during outage meaning no power at departure. Beds uncomfortable. Extremely disappointing overall.

- Kinarah (7/5): Good - Matoppo INN has exceptional standards when it comes to cleanliness. Just a bit dusty under the beds but nothing to complain about. The food was great but abit expensive. The pool was lovely and the gardens are big and fun to explore Everything was perfect except for the loadshedding. The electricity was off from about 10:30 pm till the morning about 7am so we were hot without the aircon and fan. It seems to be an ongoing thing in the area so the place should invest in equipment to make the guests more comfortable.
