Guest Reviews
- carlaozzy (10/5): Warm welcome - Lovely warm welcome on a cold and dreary January evening. Was checked in by Sophie and she was very efficient and thorough. Room was spotless and everything in order...plenty of teas, coffees, and soap dispenser full with plenty of toilet rolls. Warm and comfy room, only thing I would say is very squeaky floorboards. ( room 235) but apart from that would definitely stay again.
- deanos760 (10/5): Exeter M5 - Helpful checkin staff called Shaun, very knowledgelable about the area and very quick to get us a room ready and checked in, room very clean and warm, no noise even though you're next to the M5! Amazing
- X914PRmarkg (10/5): Perfect location perfect hotel for travelling to SW - Exactly how a hotel stay should be. Booking well in advance for only 24.99.
The hotel was easy to access just off a motorway junction.
I simply arrived at reception was asked my details by the polite and efficient Shannon and given a key for my room. The room was spacious modern and very clean and well maintained.
The towels were all clean and fresh.
What impresses me most though is that despite it been a large busy hotel you simply can't hear anything from the other rooms.
Checking out simply involved putting my key in a drop box.
Faultless.
- peterbradford908 (10/5): Airport access - Exactly what we needed for access to airport..although we only travel 1 1/2 hours away with bad weather forecast we decided to do a night over before our early flight..£35 ..what a bargain for peace of mind ..and lovely staff ..(thanks Shannon )👍
- 496bertp (10/5): No bells and whistles, just great service and good value for money. Thoroughly recommended. - Too often people criticise Travelodge but I think it's important to get things in context. You can't get The Ritz Hotel for Travelodge prices. It's a budget hotel and I've always been happy with the excellent service from staff wherever I've stayed. Exeter, in particular, is on my preferred list as parking is good, it's location for the south west of England is perfect, it's in a very safe area and the rooms are comfortable. Nowhere else has mattresses like Travelodge, they are the best. Things may occasionally not be as they should due to turnover of guests but staff are always quick to respond at all locations. Travelodge is inexpensive and functional. Everything else over-and-above is bling and, if that's what you want, there are plenty of expensive alternatives if you want to pay a lot more money.
- sallykernow (10/5): A very comfortable night - I stayed for one night on my way to see family at Christmas. The staff on check in and check out were friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were clean and very comfortable. I would happily stay again. Very good value and with the option to cancel if my plans changed.
- 502louisag (10/5): A perfect place to stay 👌 - GB0815 Travelodge Exeter M5
Hotel was easy to find with a car park alongside the hotel. On arrival I was greeted by Leah she was polite and made me feel welcome.
I travel alone so it's important I feel safe and I certainly did here. My room was easy to find with great instructions from Leah.
My room was amazing and everything I needed. It was spotless clean. Lovely beds with extra pillows. Bathroom was very clean and good size with a small bath which I am grateful for.
I slept like a baby and heard no sound from the services across the road. Perfect.
On check out I was greeted by Emma another lovely member of staff, very polite and bright 🌞 (happy)
I would definitely stay here again it was perfect. I only stayed 1 night but you could stay here a lot longer and be happy 😊
- DayTrip32595652329 (10/5): Clean & Tidy. Excellent Price - Checked in without any issues even though it was a change of shift. Staff very friendly and helpful when we asked about a taxi into the city providing us with one that arrived with 2 minutes.
Room was very clean with plenty of towels. The bed was comfortable.
Located next to the M5, so easy to find.
Excellent value, will definitely stay again.
- paulcP7294LK (10/5): Short Stay - Excellent location next to M5 with a petrol station adjacent for your onward journey.
Clean room and bathroom with free tea and coffee facilities in the room.
If hungry there is a place next door for meals and drink.
Large car park with amble free spaces.
Excellent value for money and can't fault my stay.
- michaelfQ8687ON (10/5): Home from Home visiting Famoly - Have stayed at many Travelodges over the years, and stay at Exeter when visiting my Grandchilden, i find this perfect for me, very clean well maintained, polite staff, who are very helpful, rooms are clean, well serviced well and good size
- rebeccalY2915ER (8/5): Clean and comfortable. - Room was very clean and fresh with everything I needed. Everything worked. Nice to have a bathtub in the bathroom. Very good value on the night I stayed. Right beside motorway services so convenient but obviously a bit of noise. Take earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Check in very easy.
- U908UQwayneb (10/5): Lovely staff and pleasant stay - Upon arrival we were greeted and welcomed by the lovely receptionist called Shaun. He was incredibly helpful and efficient when checking in and when we had later questions about the area. The room was spotless and we all had a restful night. Really convenient location for us as its close to the airport, would happily stay again in the future.
- P220UJrogerr (10/5): Exeter M5 Travelodge - Lovely rooms, comfy bed and amazing staff, all very smiley 😆 happily stay again and would recommend to anyone! Was a pleasure
- iansB5274KE (2/5): Dirty, run down rooms! - The hotel was dirty the bathroom smelt with stains all over the bath, so couldn't have a shower there was hair in the bed and filthy stained carpets all over the room. It says online recently refurbished rooms maybe in 1990! We arrived late so we were so tired so didn't complain we left early on the morning as we couldn't even have a shower, shocking a complete waste of money
- 2602Dinesh1984 (2/5): Worst maintenance - The room had some unpleasant smell, the carpets were stained and dirty condition . The shower was extremely difficult to turn off.Definitely do not recommend for family
- debbiebT4916VG (10/5): Very good experience - All clean and tidy, comfy beds
Value for money
Very quiet
Easy to access
Staff friendly
Shaun the receptionist Shaun very friendly and polite
- tracyvC8629XY (10/5): Comfortable stay - A lovely comfortable stay . Park and Ride , and train station all nearby so can leave car at Travelodge and explore City Centre easily.
- 424jeanetteh (8/5): Excellent value and clean. - I had a good experience. The hotel was tired and worn looking in places BUT the staff I met were helpful and friendly, my room was sparsely furnished but very clean with everything I needed. Lovely hot shower. I parked right outside. Even though the services are next door , and I had the window open , it was not too noisy. I would definitely stay again . Thank you.
- L9468LEclarer (10/5): Happy to stay again. - I rang before leaving for my journey and told them I was arriving early in the morning. At 4:30am Thursday morning Chris was expecting us. As we were parked in the overflow carpark he let us in from there. He was polite and kind. The room was great 2 double beds. The room was clean and fresh and was glad to make a cup of tea when I got in. When we left we were let out by the overflow carpark too.
We couldn't here any noise out side from the motorway.
- 110francish (10/5): Great value for money - Excellent location, Excellent facilities Excellent reception by Carla, room good size great bathroom, tea and coffee in room
- K1237SRannab (10/5): Great hotel and value - We have stayed here a few times and will continue to do so.
We had a lovely welcome and checked in by Carla. The room was large and clean with plenty of room for our dog. There's also plenty of green areas for a dog walk. Recommended
- 35chamarif (10/5): Amazing hotel - We had a great experience. Hotel was nice and clean. Staff was amazing. It was nice and quiet night time. We will definitely visit again when we come to visit my son who is in Exeter uni . Thank you
- Resort03846918401 (10/5): Friendly fantastic amazing - As I walked in Sophie greeted me with a massive smile and a cheerful vibe! Which was just needed! Check in was so smooth and easy which is always good the staff here never fail to be polite and friendly Sophie always makes time to have a chat which gives such a welcoming feeling.
- Pearman13 (6/5): Nightmare to find! - The accommodation was clean and tidy. Finding the place is a nightmare! It is located on one of many traffic islands, a small entrance near the BP garage. Would not recommend if busy traffic worries you. The staff were good.
- jameswilliam69 (10/5): Stay feed back-25th to 26th October- Excellent staff clean and quiet room - We checked in at 3:30 p.m. on 25th October with Carla, and checked out at 10:00 a.m. on 26th October with Shaun. Both staff members were exceptionally courteous and professional — I truly appreciated their helpfulness and welcoming attitude.
The location was easy to reach, and the room itself was quiet, spotlessly clean, and perfectly comfortable. The temperature was just right when we arrived, and remained ideal throughout the night, allowing us to enjoy a peaceful and restful sleep.
- humphrem (10/5): Perfect one night stay en route to Cornwall. - A very friendly welcome from Sophie on reception . We had a family room perfect size , plenty of space, tea & coffee provided . Good location just a 5 min walk from the motorway services. Reception have a list of local eateries.
- A8205QPtarar (10/5): Good clean room as always with Travelodge. - Nice clean hotel within easy reach of Exeter. Took our dog too and it was easy to have him to stay with us. Various eateries within easy walking distance.
- Susiefishes (10/5): Recommended - Excellent value. Comfortable and clean. Great dog walking, peaceful despite being on the same site as the big services. We had a very peaceful carpark behind us which felt safe, even walking our dog at night.
- A1128NEandrewa (8/5): Regenerate update on my stay - This was a continuatiin of my stay prior to when i was relocated from the other premise at Tiverton.
Apparently, I am on my fifth days while looking forward to further arrangements.
- lisatO7126QM (10/5): Good night's stay - Very enjoyable stay as always, I have stayed in this hotel on many occasions and it's always my choice when travelling to Exeter. The hotel is very comfortable and has everything you need, and the staff very friendly and welcoming .
- Sjack258 (10/5): Great staff welcome. - We arrived as a party of 4 and straight away Carla noticed that my wife was using a crutch so she very kindly asked if we would like a ground floor room as there isn't a lift. Top marks to Carla. Room was more than adequate for the price paid. Very comfortable bed.
- N8295WBshirleyb (10/5): Perfect - Situated just off the M5, easy to find with adequate parking. I was checked in by Carla who was so friendly, helpful and advised me seeing as I was staying for five days a quieter spot in the hotel had been allocated to me which I really appreciated.
Hotel was clean, room very comfortable, bathroom perfect, enough teas coffee for me stay which was topped up. So all in all, ten out of ten!
- 773sianc (10/5): Look forward to staying at travelodge always - Very friendly, nice and clean, bathroom lovely, water for bath brilliant 👏 ,nothing to much trouble for the staff,a welcome like no other
- J6578TYmargarett (10/5): Polite and extremely helpful receptionist on booking - Hard to find individual phone number for specific Travel Lodge but once located an extremely helpful receptionist reserved us a ground floor room with easy access to outside space for elderly couple and even more elderly dog!
Room spacious and bed super comfortable
- pauleM3968YG (10/5): A trip to topsham - As soon as we arrived we were met with a friendly greeting from Leah
Who zoomed in on our car to save me going back out to check the number plate I have MS and it was much appreciated, the room was very clean and secondly glazing eliminated any motorway noise also we could see the car from the room as well as a shower it had a bath and the beds were very comfortable had a lovely night’s sleep so did our friends who stayed in a nearby room I would highly recommend to anyone.
- EnnieW70 (10/5): Decent hotel - You know what you're getting with Travelodge. Beds comfortable but pillows too hard. Bathroom and room clean.
- belindacG7156ZY (8/5): Good, functional reasonably priced hotel. . - Friendly check in by Sophie. Room clean and functional, some areas of hotel a bit dated but overall absolutely fine. Best bit - allows dogs.
Plenty of parking, no noise from nearby road if window kept closed. No noise from other rooms.
- JillPenzance (10/5): Early morning welcome - Easy and very quick check in at 3am in the morning. The rooms was clean quiet and was just the thing we needed after a very stressful flight. Services next door for food in required.
- SamJC1988 (10/5): Clean and comfortable overnight stopover - We used the hotel as a stopover on the way to Cornwall. It's right off the M5 so easy to get to.
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed.
We arrived quite late (about 9pm) and there was still parking available. Its obviously used alot by tradesmen as the car park was full of work vans but we were still able to get parking easily.
There is no restaurant/pub/ breakfast onsite but right next door is a service station. We knew this so just pre-planned breakfast and got what we needed from the service station. You have to be careful walking to the service station as there was no crossing.
The bathrooms were a but dated but still clean and useable. Pleasantly surprised by the USB sockets for phone charging by the beds
- V655GQpeterb (10/5): Made us welcome - Great service. Sophie volunteered to move us to the perfect room for dogs. Easy access to service station facilities near by.
- Kelzb82 (10/5): Great improvement - Wow, what a massive improvement from my last stay, I was welcomed my a lovely young lady Kelly, as I was staying on my own she provided me a room close to reception never been offered this before in a hotel.
She made me feel very welcomed and safe as single person.
The room was spotless and had every thing I needed. The room was modern and loved the makeover.
Thank you for a great stay.
- AMHolt (10/5): Good nights sleep and comfortable room - Excellent stay!
Easy check in and friendly staff and then a clean well equipped room with a comfortable bed which meant a great nights sleep.
- V233FVlouiseh (10/5): Much better than I expected - We had a lovely stay here, the rooms were spotless and smelt fresh. The room itself was bigger than I thought it would be so ample space for the 2 adults and child. I was expecting it to be noisy and busy being by the M5 but it wasn't at all. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
- matthewv492 (10/5): Very well run hotel, had a great stay. - Had a great stay. Lovely friendly staff at reception, large immaculately cleaned room with comfortable beds and spotless bathroom. Really impressed!
- jessogden33 (10/5): Good hotel for family - Always clean and tidy, staff friendly. Would recommend for families as rooms sleep up to four for a reasonable price. Lots of local activities and amenities near by. Stayed 3 times now and could not fault it.
- NelBzh (6/5): A bit disappointing - No net curtains so no privacy if you want some daylight. No free internet (well 30 mns) and weird shower settings as not able to move the shower head around as
- Excursion53166905734 (4/5): No good for a disabled person - Booked an ‘accessible’ room but the shower over the bath was no use to my disabled partner at all as stepping in was impossible. Also, twin beds very narrow as she fell out while asleep on the first night of two.
- EmPatt1990 (10/5): Great stop over - Excellent location, Leah was very helpful in reception desk but the hotel is perfect for a stop off point and an added fan was perfect for the hot weather
- sheilaghavami (8/5): Very good. - Very good, it would have been much better if there wa a fridge in the room and a dining place in the hotel.
- 75briank (10/5): How all Travelodges should be. - Sometimes Travelodges can be a little bit tired, rooms not quite clean, just not quite good enough. But, I stayed at Exeter for one night, on a business trip, and found it was everything you want from this sort of hotel.
It's the first time I'd stayed here, and to be honest I'd checked for Premier Inns first, but they were £30 more, so I took what I considered the cheaper option, in more ways than one.
However, it was a great hotel. The check-in receptionist was friendly and welcoming, and the room, at the end of the first floor corridor, was spotlessly clean, modern, well maintained and quiet from start to finish. I had a perfect night's rest. The TV had all the freeview channels, and the wifi worked (I just used the free half hour to send an email or two), and there were two comfy chairs.
I arrived at about 7pm, so I wanted something to eat sooner rather than later. Rather than get back in the car, I decided to walk to the Burger King on the adjacent services. It was a longer walk than I thought, and a little bit awkward crossing the entrance road, so if you're not particularly mobile jump back in the car and drive down to it. It is only a motorway services, but there's a few options, so for a flying visit it's adequate.
The hotel has its own dedicated car park, which had plenty of space when I was there.
This is how all Travelodges should be.
- Aigoual (10/5): A welcoming, clean & comfortable experience. - A good welcome from Chris on reception who stayed beyond the opening hours while we parked and then got us through to our rooms. Everything about the hotel was clean and comfortable and a good place to spend a night at a reasonable price. Thoroughly recommend.
- Frisby13 (4/5): Noisy, a little shabby, noisy, and the breakfast is non existent - Had previously used Travelodge, so this made a choice for an away football trip with my little boy. I was surprised that the breakfast restaurant has been closed - and substituted with a dreadful "breakfast box". If this had been clear at the point of booking I would have stayed elsewhere. The venue is pretty soulless and run down - with the only food option being a tricky walk to the nearby and dreadful services. It is also really noisy. On a positive - Sophie on reception was really excellent as a positive member of staff.
- terrymoyle74 (10/5): Exeter M5 Travel Lodge - Always stop off here to break the journey to west Cornwall. Easy to book, friendly staff, clean throughout, comfortable bed and no noise (inside the hotel or outside). The dogs love it too!!
- valerie (8/5): - The staff were very friendly.
- R275RAmatthewr (10/5): Great place to stay - Can’t rate this Travelodge highly enough. Great location, rooms and communal areas were very clean with lots of staff seen working hard on this each morning. Reception staff were brilliant, especially Marcus who booked us in. and on seeing a member of my family was disabled, quickly moved our room to the ground floor without me having to ask.
Will definitely be staying here again when in the area.
- lufc246 (10/5): Great hotel and friendly helpful staff - We stayed here en route to Cornwall, we checked in quite late at night and Chris on the front desk was most helpful.
Overall the hotel is very handy, clean and comfortable, ideal for a stop over.
Recommended
- annettet24 (10/5): Comfortable stay for the night - I was checked in by Marcus, who was very helpful, especially when I was looking for somewhere to eat in the area; he gave good recommendations. My room was nice and clean.
- 237melodyk (6/5): Stay at M5 Travelodge - I booked an accessible room for a one night stay for myself and my husband. I needed to change this booking as my granddaughter was coming with us so I needed to change to a family room. Sadly, this room has no adaptations to cater for a disabled member so I found using the toilet extremely difficult and having a shower impossible because it was over the bath.
Apparently, some Travelodge's offer this facility but not this one so please be aware if you are disabled with a family then this venue isn't suitable for you.
- 784heatherb (10/5): Lovely clean hotel - We stayed here for one night. Check in was easy and the room was very clean and well fitted out. Marcus on reception was friendly and helpful, giving us advice on where we could eat in the evening. We were given extra tea and milk when we ran out. The room was quiet even though it was close to the M5. All corridors etc were in a good state of repair
- Ekjkejjkjk (10/5): Great all good and excellent value for money. - Overnight stay .
Warm welcome by the receptionist ar check in
Room was nicely decorated and immaculately clean and Tidy ,
Room also well equipped, TV, kettle, Coffee and tea facilities.
lovely spacious room , also bathroom and shower lovely and clean .
Comfortable bed , and very little noise even though close to M5 , so this lead to a perfect night's sleep.
plenty of places to eat in the services next door .
what more can anyone ask for .
In my honest opinion a bargain for the price i paid .
Well done to all the team at Exeter travelodge , for keeping such great standards.
Thank you .
- fozjon (6/5): fine place to spend the night, but nothing special - the room was comfortable enough. The bed was good and there were plenty of pillows. There wasn't a real breakfast option and you have to pay separately for Wi-Fi (haven't encountered this situation in a very long time). There are parking options and the guy at the reception was pleasant enough but very busy with people coming and going. The lay out of the hotel is a bit unusual and the water pressure in the shower was sub par. Other than this, it was a fine place to spend the night.
- 810kurtv (10/5): Great Location - Travel lodge was an excellent bolt hole for our 3 day visit to Exeter uni . Surprisingly quiet location.. comfy rooms
- joycewM9832HO (10/5): Very good stay - The receptionist Carla was very professional and kind. She had a warm welcome smile and went above and beyond to answer all my questions. I was only there for one night. The room was clean and spacious. It was so nice to walk into the room with the fan on! Overall I was very impressed with this travelodge.
- alisondY146AR (4/5): Accessible rooms are not accessible - Shower is over a bath (not wet room) with big step up and down plus beds are fixed so close to bathroom wall you can't access in a wheelchair!
- fionarosen1 (10/5): Travelodge Exeter M5 - A clean and comfortable hotel, conveniently situated on the M5 Moto service station. Also easy links into Exeter by taxi. I would recommend Apple Taxis, who were friendly and very efficient.
- gillianbW1978JL (10/5): Family room was just what we needed for the evening - Parking on site, rooms clean, well presented, good facilities, the family room was just what we needed for the evening, staff welcoming.
- craigster998 (8/5): Handy for Tesla Superchargers - Clean, simple motel but pleasant and clean with hood parking. For EV owners Tesla and other Superchargers just nextdoor in services, also with pull through chargers for those towing.
- Tour560063 (10/5): Helpful receptionist and comfy rooms - Plenty of parking, and the rooms are good size. Shame there isn't a restaurant on site, but close enough to local restaurants. Reception staff were very helpful, and we were able to extend our check out time (for a small charge).
- Sparle49 (10/5): Comfortable stay with great customer service - Great stay at Exeter Travellodge. Room was spacious & clean & housekeeping had left the curtains drawn & fan on to keep room as cool as possible on a hot day. Fantastic night’s sleep as bed was so comfortable & very little noise considering we were next to a major service station. Special thanks to receptionist Sophie as on checking in she noticed my husband was using a walking stick & automatically changed our room so he didn’t have so far to walk- a gesture that was greatly appreciated
- alanbluck (4/5): We were initially told, on booking, that we could leave our car in the hotel car park for the week. This was not true! - The promised car park stay for 8 nights on a "first come, first served" basis , was found to be untrue after we made a second call, resulting in an additional expense for airport parking!
- clifftopps (10/5): A good overnight stay... - The room was a good size, with wooden furniture, two chairs and a bath. It was clean. we had a good night's sleep, undisturbed by external noise. We would choose to stay here again.
- O9404NTdonnas (10/5): An excellent travelodge. - Excellent free parking, friendly helpful staff and our room looked newly decorated. I love travelodge because they are dog friendly and he was welcomed by the staff. Eating and drinking facilities within walking distance and a Toby carvery not far away, we didn't go there but a staff member explained what was nearby. We enjoyed our stay so thank you to all the staff.
- dangJ2539QE (10/5): Great stay - Very quick and easy check in and friendly staff. Hotel lobby, corridors and rooms all very clean. Nothing to fault at all, even the price was reasonable.
- T3930DFmichaelm (10/5): Excellent service at Exeter M5 Travelodge. - We booked the hotel for a 4 night stay as we were down from the NE to tour Devon and Cornwall, on arrival we were met by receptionist Sophie was really friendly and chatty, after a while we asked her if she knew off any local fish and chips shops local and on her phone she showed us where to go, she was so warm and friendly a real credit to the hotel, in fact every person we dealt with each day were warm and friendly we couldn't fault the service given, I would highly recommend the Exeter M5 Travelodge for any stay in Devon despite being a service area the hotel itself hardly gets any noise from traffic the rooms have been refurbished and are very clean and airy if visiting this hotel is ideally situated for all your onward destinations.
- marktR4402ZK (10/5): Helped me out in a difficult moment. - I needed a room urgently at the last minute due unforeseen circumstances.
I arrived late in the evening worried if I would find somewhere.
Travelodge were ready and open for business.
It was a simple transcation.
The room was quiet and peaceful.
Staff were helpful in directing me to local services.
I had a relaxing night ready to face the day again.
- 24sarahjayneb (8/5): Perfect stop over. - Great location with very friendly staff. Even though close to the motorway, which is a bonus, we did not have any noise from the road, even with windows open. The weather was very warm but a fan had already been provided in the room. Bathroom very clean and functional. Rooms have been newly decorated and were more than adequate for a stop over. Close enough to the services for refreshments. As ked for rooms next to each other which were provided without any hesitation.
- H4311YAnigelb (10/5): Fantastic value and surprisingly awesome - I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I made my booking. But after spending three nights there in the middle of June I can safely say that my experience of this Travelodge was wonderful. On arrival there was plenty of free parking and at the desk the receptionist was both friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were spotless and tidy and there was a kettle with tea and coffee making facilities. The bedsheets were crisp and clean and the two pillows were just right for me, although another pair of pillows was available in the storage if I’d wanted softer ones. Every evening the car park filled up quite full as guests arrived but even so the Travelodge was really quiet. The Travelodge can be a tad tricky to locate as it’s not particularly well signposted but by satnav I managed to find off the adjacent roundabout. For value for money and a clean place to stay this would be very hard to beat. Should I come down to Exeter again I wouldn’t hesitate in staying here.
- L5022ZIcharlottes (10/5): Very happy with our stay - Staff were friendly and the room was large, clean and well equipped. The location of the hotel was excellent for our needs as it was close to where we needed to go and had a good range of places to eat around. The price we paid was incredible value. Thank you for a lovely stay
- Wanderer167437 (10/5): Stay at Exeter M5 - The room was so comfortable and clean, the staff were friendly and accommodating. We usually book with Premier Inn but Travelodge was a lot cheaper for our 2 night stay so decided to give it a go. Very pleased with our stay, the cost and locality were very good and it was quiet given that we were near to the airport and Motorway. The nicest thing was we had a window that we could open and not have to suffer air conditioning. All round brilliant service
- Jgbmls29 (10/5): Positive Travelodge Experience. - Always a good night's sleep here. We often stay here for a night out in exeter as its not far from the city centre. Also a petrol station and the m5 services close by if you need anything.
The staff are always very friendly and helpful. The hotel is always clean and tidy inside and out. And its not too expensive.
The only drawbacks to this hotel are no air conditioning and can be traffic noise from the m5. However we knew this before we stayed and its not a huge problem.
We will definitely be staying here again and would recommend it.
- lindasF3916KS (10/5): Very Convenient and Friendly Travelodge - The check in staff were all brilliant . We were checked in by Kelly but also dealt with others who were equally friendly and helpful. The room and the bathroom was extremely clean and the bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The two aspects that were most useful were the free parking (this applies to the parking right outside the Travelodge and even to the parking in the Services should the lodge car park be full) and the ease to get something to eat, as this Lodge is obviously right next to the Services itself.
We will be using this as our Go To hotel when visiting Exeter.
- Z3100DGstephena (10/5): Good base for Exeter - The hotel room was clean and quiet. There was enough parking. It is in a good location near the park and ride for Exeter and the M5. The staff were friendly and it was good value for money. We didn't use the breakfast but caught the bus into Exeter.
- Martin_Janda (6/5): Good Value Stay, Though Not Without Issues - We stayed for one night and found the hotel to be clean and dog friendly, which we really appreciated. It also offered good value for money overall. However, there were a few issues that affected our comfort. The room was missing body and hair soap, which made it difficult to use the shower. This is something we would expect housekeeping to check in advance. Although the window was shut, there was a fixed ventilation panel that could NOT be closed, allowing in noise from the nearby motorway. The mattresses were quite soft and very squeaky, making it hard to get a good night of sleep. Lastly, while breakfast was included, it came in a packed format rather than being served hot or as a buffet. This was mentioned, but a clearer heads up would be helpful, especially for guests with dietary restrictions, as the packed breakfast was NOT suitable in our case due to allergies and no alternative was possible. A bit more flexibility or clearer communication in advance would be very helpful.
- jb7martin (2/5): Floors really bad - The noise from the floors and people on them was really loud. If you are a light sleeper, don't stay here.
- 825wendiec (10/5): Great place to stay - Great stay at M5 Exeter Travelodge, the room was lovely and clean, staff were polite and welcoming, bed was comfortable and linen was fresh. Bathroom was very clean with shower gel and hand soap. No hairdryer but I did bring my own so not a problem but just so you know to take your own. Lots of tea and coffee and you could ask for extra if needed.
Free parking outside the door.
Stairs to all rooms.
I would recommend this place if the price is right for you.
- Footprints653499 (10/5): Great value - The hotel was clean and well maintained and very good value as usual, you always know exactly what you're getting.
- nicolahP9998GZ (10/5): Solo female overnight stay - Travelling alone, arrived after dark. I was able to park in reasonably close to the hotel entrance.
Friendly reception staff checked me in without delay and gave directions to newly refurbished room which was close to reception. Receptionist requested and welcomed any feedback regarding refurbished room.
Breakfast to go box info provided and was collected easily next morning.
Room was comfortable, clean and fresh.
- Relax48129613918 (10/5): Travelodge Exeter M5 - Midweek overnight stay, arriving late into the evening. Found ample parking space at no additional cost, most travelodges and Premier inn now charge. No noise inside or from the outside of the building. Room and bathroom very clean for overnight stay, rooms had just been updated.
- helenwX1096QL (6/5): Convenient motel for an overnight stop near Exeter - Booked this Travelodge as it was the cheapest place we could find near Exeter. Couldn't quite decide whether the 70s bedroom and bathroom fittings/decor were amusing or just depressing.
On a positive note, the room looked like it had been re-painted recently, and the beds were fairly comfortable.
For some reason, this Travelodge only offers a rather naff and overpriced takeaway breakfast. We drove down the road to the Beefeater for breakfast, but I wouldn't recommend it.
- Clare1234567 (10/5): Lovely happy helpful staff and atmosphere - We actually stayed at this travellodge because of the sad event of a funeral we had to attend. Despite that, what stood out to us was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, and how *amazingly* quiet it was for sleeping, despite being near to the M% (thank you, what looked like triple glazing in our room).
yes, the place probably could do with a lick of paint. But that is unimportant compared to a happy atmosphere that helped to make even the worst of times better. Thanks so much to all the staff there,
- A1502RRmichaelw (10/5): A good night's sleep. - We stayed on Sunday 2nd March, our room was clean, tidy and everything worked.
We had a very good night's sleep hearing no noise from the nearby M5 or from the corridor outside our room during the night .
We stayed on a Sunday and maybe the hotel wasn't very busy but we had a great night's sleep at a reasonable price.
The staff both at check in and check out were polite and cheerful so overall a good experience.
- Barry (8/5): - No food area, it closed down.
- Patrick (8/5): - Ils faut prévenir si vous restez plus d'une nuit sinon ils ne font pas la chambre
- Anders (6/5): Ok - Decent travelodge but a very old and tired place. Comfy bed but carpet dusty and dirty. Had a good nights sleep before taking on the rest of our journey down to Cornwall. Very nice and friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel was nice - Found all staff to be very friendly and very helpful.
Room was very warm, unable to open window wide enough to allow some cool night air in that was my only issue.
- niamh (10/5): Affordable accommodation any time of year - I was visiting my son and his family in Exeter and found the accomodation very reasonably priced and comfortable. I was disappointed that the wifi was not free of charge. We also had to pay for breakfast and the full breakfast didn't include toast which I thought was a bit mean. Otherwise I would highly recommend Travelodge and the staff were excellent ☺
